  • Hi rep, how far advance can the activation date be set for this plan? I am moving into a new place mid-January 2020 and would like to start a plan then.

    • -6

      Hi theoracle30,

As an existing customer, you won't be eligible for this promotion even if you move to a new home.

Hope all goes well with the move though!

      Cheers, Nicole

      • +1

Hi Nicole, just to clarify I am not an existing customer, merely wanting to commence as a new customer in mid-January 2020 under this promo. Will that be possible?

        • -1

No worries at all. Sorry for the mix up.

That should be all sweet, you'll just need to put in a "Don't connect before date".

          Cheers, Nicole

          • @Aussiebroadband: What if we don't know the date? My NBN area is being activated "January"

            • @[Deactivated]: I did this back in June in the same situation. I knew an approximate date but not an exact one. AussieBB basically notified me once my area became available and gave me the earliest appointment.

I'd reach out to their chat and ask them.

  • Now just to confirm a detail: ABB T&C state you have to give them 30 days notice to 'cancel'. It does not mention a churn at all. The FAQ gives quite a complicated example, also about cancelling, not about churning, but from that example it would seem cancelling on the day before the billing day is ideal, with no further payment required.

I get conflicting information, when I chatted to one of their sales reps they told me I need to give 30 days notice, but other people here seem to have moved without giving notice.

Rep, can you please clarify? ABB is known for good service, but this confusing information on your website and given by staff is quite the opposite of good…

    • +2

I just churned 2 days before next billing cycle emailed their support afterwards telling them to cancel my account but its done automatically they said

      • +1

        Same experience here

      • Thanks, great to know that it is so easy. My billing date is 25th, I'll schedule my churn for 23rd to have 1 day of buffer to get things fixed before the public holidays in case there is an issue.

  • -5

Lol so many salty current customers in the comments.

  • +4

This thread reminded me to churn, I forgot I had something on my to do list…

  • Great deal, especially if you combine it with a referral code for $50 off your next bill.
Shame you cant post them here.

    • You can't stack promo and referral codes anymore :(

  • -2

ive cancelled with them and it didnt require a months notice. it was previously a months notice because of their billing system. they have updated their system and now can pro rata your cancellations. i went to Superloop for 2 months. i just switch back to them today. Superloop CS is trash, gives no compensation when storm took out our NBN, no app was also a major killer.

    • "Superloop CS is trash, gives no compensation when storm took out our NBN,"

Find me one RSP that does (assuming you're on a residential plan and not a business one).

      • Aussie did when my street was constantly on outage, when my service is disrupted. Any NBN providers should provide compensation if no service is rendered.

        • +2

I asked ABB about that, they would only compensate if it goes down for 2 days continuously..

Refer to my comment below on my rollercoaster ride with ABB with NBNco at the wheel…

          • @NGPriest: yes our NBN/Power in sydney was out for almost a week during that nasty storm last week. i called SL and then just said nah, its NBN problem. Poor form.

            • @Michaelz101: Wow, my UPS won't survive for weeks…

I'm normally rushing around to take down all the servers… :S

      • also can be said, if your phone doesnt have signal for a week due to your telco system issues. should you be happily paying for your monthly bill?

        • ACCC is looking into making the NBN refund RSP for downtime and stuff… so hopefully soon

    • +1

Would be nice if they update their website with information on that - and their sales staff should be better informed as well…

    • +1

So i should port to superloop and pray?

And then port/churb back to ABB if things don't improve? :p

      • yeah its not hard to switch RSPs, but there is a big difference between SL and ABB in terms of customer service.

        • CS doesn't really matter when NBNco is down…

Even ABB's CS say they can't do anything with my downtime when i'm paying $100/month for… No service…?

          • @NGPriest: i didnt get the same response when i called them when my street had constant outage back in June.keep pressing them and tell them you lost income/working from home/ trading/ etc etc.

  • +2

I've had so much downtime in November.

Even my ADSL has better reliability than NBN…

Not blaming ABB, but blaming NBNco…

    Currently waiting for Optus 5G…

    • I had the same issue when I first moved to NBN. In my case it turned out to be the modem that caused the issue, it had been working fine on ADSL, and it was on the list of NBN capable devices. But the connection dropped out all the time. I guess a hardware fault that did not matter at the slow speeds on ADSL but got quite annoying when I switched to NBN.

TL/DR: borrow a modem from someone and see if that fixes the issues

      • My neighbour on iinet also has dropouts at the SAME time i do…

Using a dual WAN router to juggle NBN/ADSL at the moment..

        Will have to dual WAN NBN/4G if i don't get 5G in time… :S

        • Sorry to hear. Ouch!

          • @team teri: He messages me, asks me if my NBN is down…

            I reply yep and yeah…

Pretty much the same dropout at the same time…

            • @NGPriest: sorry that looks nasty, definitely raise with them for compensation. thats unreliable service.

              • @Michaelz101: They won't do anything, unless it's 2 days…

                • @NGPriest: maybe its changed, but i looked at mine emails back in june/july. it wasn't outage for 2 days but rather constant and frequent outage like yours. when they gave me credit, the credit note said " service difficulties"

                  • @Michaelz101: Maybe they changed the rules, since they were giving away too much credit…? :p

            • @NGPriest: Is your upload terrible? When we received FTTN I had a stable connection and then a month later i had repeat dropouts and my upload speeds at decreased from 14 to 1. After so much jumping through hoops NBN co finally switched my port at the pillar and it fixed the issue.

    • Me too. Having issues with NBN, how did you generate your downtime report?

      • -3

Do you believe in the power of magic?

        Or maybe unicorns?

        Or unicorn blood? :D

        • Poor unicorn that i'm bleeding dry to generate that downtime report :p

    • -2

It would be so much better if you were paying NBN Co instead of a pointless middleman that isn't able to fix the service but adds costs to benefit the private owners that are ripping you off.

      • Pro's and Con's…

NBNco could jack up prices, since they need to recover the costs of installation…

And why repay it in 20 years or so when they could recover the funds by demanding your 1stborn? :p

      • +3

Stop saying this. Do you think that if you were paying NBN it would be any better?

Look at the situation with Telstra and the years they had all the ADSL. They did almost nothing when there was a fault and it was their own network.

Having NBN actually sell internet connections as opposed to the pipe as they do now would be completely disastrous. There would be no quality as to links to the rest of the world.

  • WTB affordable gigabit interwebs.

    • I keep getting SMS's from TPG offering me fibre internet.
Then when i asked them about gigabit speeds, they only offer 25/50/100…
Then i asked how it was fibre internet? They said it'll be fibre until my curb and HFC to my house…
I asked isn't that FTTC and not HFC?

Love how TPG sales don't even know what they're selling…

    • Gigabit plan from May 2020 for FTTP users.

  • Wish my nbn wasn't constantly pushed back.

Not getting it till march 2020 at the earliest now.
Literally two streets over has it AND the fiber is actually installed out the front of my house, all they have to do is link it up to the copper lines.

    • You have fibre outside your house?!

      I'm jelly… :S

      • FTTC. But It got laid outside my house almost 12 months ago. Still not installed.

        • I wonder how much FTTP would cost, since they just need to run the fibre line from the Curb to your Premises? :p

          • @NGPriest: FTTC—->FTTP costs around $2000-7500.

            • @Twix: I thought it'll be the distance between the curb and your house?

              • @NGPriest: You would think so but it seems nbn are connecting further upstream to a major pit with spare fibre.

                • @Twix: What is this "spare fibre" you're talking about? :p
(Everyday, you learn something new :D)

I was under the impression that fibre could be split almost endlessly? :S

                  • @NGPriest: Spare fibre that can be used for FTTP or new connections.

nbn FTTP split ratio is 1:32.

                    • @Twix: So the moral of the story is to jump ASAP to get a closer pit with spare fibre?

Or to wait till the price drops to the point where it's very cheap? :S

                      • @NGPriest: Jump whenever you can afford FTTP. Ask to pay in 2 installments.

To drop the price more do a FTTP group switch with your neighbours or surrounding streets.

                        • @Twix: The problem is, if i goto a surrounding street and they're part of a different line, it'll cost twice the original price…?

And isn't it cheaper for my neighbour to install after me? :p

                          • @NGPriest: nbn tell you the cost upfront. The more people you can get onboard the cheaper per house it is.

Yep. If they know that is another story :p

    • +4

If you voted for Turnbull you voted to get (profanity) like this so that Telstra makes more money.

Judging by who they elect voters are morons that actively vote against their own interests so that business benefit at their expense.

  • Rep, I just pre-orderered NBN for over a month in advance, can you please apply this to my account? Thanks

    • Not available for existing customers and cannot be applied retrospectively.

      • I'm not a customer yet because NBN isn't yet available

        • +1

          cancel then reapply? doesnt hurt

          • @Michaelz101: Much easier for rep to just apply it to my account and save me the trouble

    • -8

      Hi BargainDude2,

Unfortunately we can't apply the promotion because you have already signed up.

      Cheers, Nicole

      • +3

Technically he's not a new customer yet, per your T&C's.

If I sign up and put an order for 2021, I'm not a 'new customer' until then.

  • Does this stack with referral credit?

    • Very unlikely, but you can have my code if you want? :p

    • Hi masster,

Unfortunately you can't use a referral and a promo code. You have to choose one or the other. Sorry about that.

      Cheers, Nicole

Thinking of moving over from Telstra… how long does the turn over usually take?

    • Mine took 20 minutes. The rep on the phone said usually under 1 hour.

      • Dang I realised I might need a different modem since I'm on Telstra's.. did you get your own or from ABB?

        • What's the model number of the Telstra modem?

          I purchased my own router.

          • @Twix: Yeah, I just realised too.
I have a LH1000. Anyone know if this can be changed to work with ABB?
            edit: I'm FTTN

            • @gturner: LH1000 is not locked to Telstra. You don't need to change any settings going from Telstra to ABB.

          • +1

@Twix: Sorry for the late reply but I signed up and used the Telstra router without any issues… so thank you!

  • Wow, this certainly sucks after applying less than 2 hours ago :-/

  • +1

Is there a "sign up now, connect later" sort of option? I'm in a Telstra HFC contract for another 2 months and considering options given the deals around.

    • I signed up anyway, set the "do not connect" date to mid-Feb.

  • +2

I'm currently 2 months in to this Vodafone nbn100 deal, $69 for 6 months.

I called up to cancel and they offered me an extra 10% off for another 6 months.

$60.10/month for unlimited nbn100 is not too bad!

    • +1

      Wished they had a CVC graph… :S

  • Does anyone know if this code would work for preorder please?

Because NBN is finally available in my apartment next month the 24th and I am currently using ADSL2+ with Exetel, and it would be good if I could switch it over to ABB as soon as NBN is available.

  • +1

Can the start date for this be delayed?
Moving house early January and don't have NBN at current address.

  • +3

Cgnat and port blocking makes abb worth less. Go with superloop.

Why any isps feel the need to cut 90 percent of their users off with cgnat and common port blocks is beyond me. Want to connect to home on port 80 or 443? Too bad, it's blocked even after cgnat is removed.

Supply the pipe don't supply a baby sitting service

There is a difference between worthless and worth less before you all cry

    • And they've just disabled their IPv6 trial, launching (the trial) again in 8-10 weeks…

Superloop has had (working) IPv6 for almost a year now?

    • I haven't tested port 80/443 without CGNAT.

Is it still blocked at the moment? :S

      • its blocked for everyone, you can call and request they unblock some ports for you but why would you need to feel the need to explain what you need and why. just supply me the connection, dont tell me what i can and cant do with it

CGNAT means every single person on it is unable to play games, get direct connections on anything and port blocking further restricts things

not to mention they flicked off ipv6 leaving everyone to have to reconfigure their setups because ABB just felt like doing it for fun

  • Hi rep, how far advance can the activation date be set for this plan?

I would be a new customer entering my house after handover mid to late January.

    • +1

      Hi elitedude,

You should be able to add the promo code in this instance. Just make sure you put in a "Don't connect before date".

      Cheers, Nicole

      • Hi Nicole,

Does that mean billing starts on connection date? Also do you accept Amex?

        Thanks

        • +1

          Hi Flintz,

You will receive a bill on the date you requested, but you won't be charged for 10 business days.

          We don't accept Amex sorry.

          Cheers, Nicole

time to move, I am also a neglected existing customer

    • I've decided to move as well…

My billing cycle starts on the 24th…

      So i'll cancel on the 23rd December…

      • They will pro rata what you've used till the switch so no need to wait till end of billing cycle.

        • Can i sign up for SL now and contact ABB for a refund? :S
