50000 Telstra Plus Rewards Points for Direct Debit

5381

Was just checking my services in the Telstra app and there is a banner advertising 50000 plus points for signing up to direct debit, that’s a bit more than what it costs for a redemption on a pair of Samsung Galaxy Buds so seems generous, previous deal as 4K of points.

    T&Cs

Thank you for patiently waiting. Upon checking up here. You were correct. There is a 50,000 rewards points if you sign up to our direct debit set up.

    This will be the eligibility:
    1.Be enrolled in Telstra Plus
2.Be presented with this offer in either NBA or the 24x7 app

    This will be the Rules:
1.To be eligible for the Direct Debit points, they must not already be on Direct Debit
2.Points will be applied automatically within seven days, after the first Direct Debit payment has been processed

    • +3

they must not already be on Direct Debit

Knew it was too good to be true

      • +1

Still going to test it. Cancelled direct debit and will check in tomorrow.

      • +2

What a time to be alive, I cancelled my direct debit a few weeks ago to move to a new account (forgot to do the latter and have copped an overdue bill as a result) but $10 fee is worth not having the debit setup for this offer.

    • Anyone had luck with the NBA app instead? I am downloading NBA live game and score but not seeing any ads. I don't even know if this is the right app

    • Where did you access the T&Cs?

It’s not letting me access them.

    • +1

I cancelled my direct debit. Hoping this offer would come up.

      • +6

        Let us know :)
I could really use 10 Google Home minis, so I can get them to talk to each other and drive themselves nuts or because a self-aware collective like the Borg.

      • Yeah have done the same thing. Let's hope it works.

      • My bill was paid yesterday by direct debit. Can’t seem to find a way to cancel auto direct debit in the app now :(

Ended up using safari to access my account online and could cancel there.

    • I meet all of these T&C's having not signed up for direct debit before. I have a bill coming up in the next couple days so should know in a week or two if it's worked.

  • This is crazy, just signed up 3 family accounts. Hopefully it's honoured.

  • Yeah, I got the latest version of the app and no amount of refreshing or changing which panel I'm in makes it show anything other than the XBox offer.

  • +2

*Next minute all reward products are all outta stock…. like the Google Home Minis

    • Google Home Minis (Bundle) is already out of stock :)

      • +1

Google Nest Mini bundle still available though :-)

  • +1

They only offer I have got is a Xbox promo

    • +4

Same here. I just cancelled my direct debit anyway.

      • I tried to cancel direct debit but got the error "Sorry, we can't get your direct debit information right now due to an unexpected error. Please try again." Maybe, Telstra has caught on and preventing dd cancellation ….

        Successful with 3rd attempt.

        • Cancelled my direct debit. It says will most likely to take effect in 24 hours. Will see if this promo shows up.

    • Well since this post, have paid my bill 1 x internet 2 x mobile + home phone and still the Xbox promo.

  • How to cancel direct debit

  • I get the offer 3rd refresh in the android app. Took a screenshot just in case.

    • Did you have a direct debit signed up prior to this?

      • Nope. Always used paypal

  • Strangely it takes me to profile

    • +1

That's where the sign up is carried out. By adding direct debit as your payment option.

  • +1

I'm guessing this is not available for prepaid accounts?

    • I am getting this option in prepaid as well but there is no option to setup dd
      :P

    • No bill, no DD

  • I get "get telstra plus bonus points. Sign up now tc apply" no mention about 50k points

    • That sounds like you haven’t even registered for Telstra plus yet.

  • Have been thinking about doing Direct debit but was lazy to do the setup so now I am happy that the offer showed up for me. Have taken screenshot and also have set an upper limit so I won't be automatically charged huge amount in case of billing issues.

  • +1

You can get Harman Kardon Onyx Studio 6 for 50,000 points atm

    Selling at HN for $349

  • Thanks OP, signed up hopefully points come through have taken a screenshot like others have said.

  • +1

PSA: Force stop the app and clear cache. The offer will show up.

    • And for iOS?

      • +13

        Switch to Android…

        • Lol thanks. Anyway just downloaded app plus data and redownloaded. Still stuck on Xbox offers

          • @ccrap: Hahaha sorry, it had to be said.

Apple is my kryptonite. I switched years ago and never looked back. I still cringe when I have to "service" my parents ipad that I off loaded on to them. Perfectly capable system, just a personal bone to pick with Apple and their whole infrastructure. Probably should have sold the ipad also and got them something Android based! Haha, karma!

    • PSA: Results may not actually reflect PSA

  • Thank you OP. If the points are credited , it will be really a Christmas present

  • +1

When people are clicking on the offer it just takes you to the profile page to click on the setup direct debit option, yeah?

    • Yes, it takes you to the setup Dd area

  • Removed DD, cleared cache.
    Logged back in.
DD is now showing as inactive.
    Banner still not showing up.

    Edit:
    Tried uninstalling, still no luck.

Provably only for legit first time DD users.

    • same…

    • How do you remove dd?

      • Click on "manage direct debit" from the homescreen of the app and then click "cancel direct debit" at the top.

  • Shame I already have direct debit on. I tried turning it off but I doubt the offer will still be up at that point

    • Couple of people from this post, including me did this too. We'll see tomorrow.

  • I had the xbox offer show up
    Updated app
    Saw the 50,000 points deal.
    Signed up for DD :)

    • Same

      • Did you guys have DD set up prior, or have cancelled today?

        • Never DD setup

        • Never had dd set up

  • +34

Canceled DD to see if offer will eventually show up.

This promotion could end up being a fail for Telstra

Telstra Management: "Lets have a promotion to get more people on Direct Debit"
    Telstra IT: "ok"
    next day
Telstra Management: "How many people have signed up to Direct Debit since the promotion started?"
    Telstra IT: "100"
    Telstra Management "Very Good"
Telstra IT: "But 1,000 people have cancelled their direct debit"
    Telstra Management: "Wait what?"

    • +4

Knowing Telstra, their management would probably stop at this:

      Telstra Management: "Very Good"

      • +2

"Very good, and now to celebrate by offshoring 500 more jobs."

    • +1

Telstra IT: "But 1,000 people have cancelled their direct debit"
      Telstra Management: "Wait what?"

      a few seconds later…

Telstra Management: "We gotta bump this up to 100,000 points, quick!"

  • Thanks so much OP. I signed up, came with error but still got the email saying it's processing so hopefully allg. I'm not sure how much 50,000 points is worth but seems like a good deal ^^

    • Exact same happened to me

  • Not available for business customers. Damn it!!

    • Yep, am also disappointed :(

      • I'm doing a change of ownership form to put it on my consumer account then signing up. Was told after I filled out the forms + agreeance it would take 24 hours (in store).
        Fingers crossed.

  • I keep getting the TGIBF banned ad :\

  • +2

Already had Direct Debit on for over 12 months, went on live chat and the operator added it no problemo. 4-7 business days to show up.

    • What exactly was added - they promised you the 50,000 points?

      • +2

Operator: It's all good, I can see in here that you are eligible for the 50,000 Telstra Plus Points, I submitted an order here to add the points on your account, and it will be shown within 4-7 business days, but it's all good, you can already consider this resolved today, together with me :)

        • What did you actually say to ask?

          • +2

@jazattack: Hi there, I just saw in the 24/7 app, that Telstra is giving 50,000 plus points for signing up to direct debit. Are you able to add this to my account for being a loyal Telstra customer already on Direct Debit?

After a little chit chat, and a few questions, it was very easy.

            • -2

@BensonP: Hey I set you a PM re: your chat with Telstra, please have a look!

  • For iOS - update the 24/7 app

There is a new layout for the navigation tabs, the first one (bottom left) is “Services”

The banner was on that page for me - added DD and took a screenshot of each

  • Just signed up for DD for my $29 a month bill. What a score lol.

    • +1

Got onto Live Chat - my account wasn't eligible! I'm also on the $29 plan.. we talking about the $39 with $10 discount 30GB grandfathered one from last year's promo?

Got my brothers on board though they're on different plans and could see the banner - so woohoo!

      • +1

Nah I have an iPad on a $19 a month plan

        • +1

          Ah damn!

Well congrats man - 50000 points wew that's juicy! :D

      • So they offered you a post paid plan for $29 with 30GB monthly?

  • I only have prepaid. Is that why i dont have an option to setup direct debit?

Anything cheap i can add with direct debit for 1 month?

  • +1

When I click the banner it just takes me to the settings tab. There doesn't appear to be any related payment settings in there. Any ideas?

    Edit: I'm prepaid

    • If you don’t get a bill, you have nothing to direct debit

    • same boat here (prepaid). nothing to direct debit!

  • +1

The Telstra 24/7 is usually a couple of days behind especially with changes.

    • Hey, do you believe this will be honored? Do you have a link to the T&Cs that no one seems to be able to find?

      Thanks.

  • +1

After not seeing the banner and trying all the other ideas, what worked for me was to uninstall the app and then reinstall. Popped up first go.

    • Thanks, that worked for me.

      • +1

Didn't work for me - keep getting xbox ad!

    • Didn't work for me as some one who previously had DD set up

  • Simply refresh (pull down the screen) on Services tab. The TGIF ad changed.

  • I don't have DD setup, only got XBOX offer. sign..

    • Do you have a prepaid service or do you get a monthly bill

      • Thanks, I have landline plus Internet services with Telstra for years. Having tried uninstall/reinstall the APP, since I am using iPhone so tried on Android as well, no luck.

  • Got the ad, signed up. But I find it hard to believe they are giving away 50,000 points for this.

Pro Tip: Whenever you setup direct debit make sure you use a bank account. If you use a credit card, you can't force a cancellation through your financial organisation, you have to do it with the debiting company (eg, Telstra in this case), and they do it at their leisure. If you use a bank account, you can call your bank and cancel at any time, immediately. This avoids any dodgy charges or over charging. Eg, gym membership charging cancellation fees, etc.
