$10 Monthly Credit on All Data Plans For 12 Months = 5GB for $5 Per Month (BYO) with No Extra Data Charges @ Telstra

3261

Telstra's Extra Small data plan is normally $15/month, but connections during '7 Day Frenzy' get $10/month off for the first 12 months.

No lock-in contract, so you can cancel any time and DONT FORGET $45 CASHREWARDS which will equate to $15 for 12 MONTHS , this means $1.25 per month for 5GB data- THIS IS CRAZY!

MOD: Received email from affiliate channel representing Telstra stating that Telstra are currently having tracking issue, and sales through cashback sites such as Cashrewards might not track properly.

Buy it, use it, bank it, boast it, harder better faster stronger!

No excess data charges. When you exceed your allowance, you can continue to access data, but your speed will be capped at 1.5Mbps.

This is a data SIM, so you can use it in devices like tablet, mobile dongles etc. You might be able to use it in a phone, but you can't make calls, it's not made for normal SMS use (charged at PAYG rates).

New customers only. If you want a higher plan instead, $10 discount currently applies those also.

Critical information summary (but does not list the $10/month discount)

Mod: Thanks to Giles for the description, copy pasted from them (who posted the duplicate deal).

This is part of Click Frenzy deals for 2020

To view remotely in 1080p probably not. Is the footage stored on the camera? If so and you are fine with viewing it remotely in lower quality (assuming the camera can stream in lower quality and store the footage at 1080p) then it should be fine. You can just obtain the high quality footage when you need it.

      • Thanks for the reply. Yeah, footage is stored on an internal HD at 1080p resolution. I want to be able to occasionally stream videos from the cameras in real time.

Guess I'll find out soon enough as I've signed up anyway.

        • Do you security cameras require a public IP address or does it upload via the cloud?

4G sims don't* come with a public IP address so it might not work.

          *with some exceptions

    • Mine capped at 1.5Mbps I streamed on my Fetchtv Mini box catchup TV and was watching on my mobile YouTube both streamed well with a very rare caching

Well doesn't your cameras upload too the cloud speed just slows the upload so should be fine for uploading captured videos well how many would there be over a day?

Important 1.5Mbps is download speeds upload is much slower, I think mine was barely 0.5Mbps

Only way you'll know for sure is too try it,..

  • Ordered over an hour ago with the $2 OzB exclusive activated but no mails on tracking yet. Any suggestions what to look for?

    • I have the same issue 24 hours later

  • Anybody receive any email from Telstra after put in the order?

    • yep, both Telstra and Cashwards!

  • +3

This is an amazing deal, if all works out, it would be $13 for 12 months of 5GB data. (cash rewards $45 + $2 click frenzy deal). Just over $1 a month!

  • Can I order now and activate the SIM later? My Catch 3 months sim has not expired yet?

    • I'd like to know this too.

EDIT: just spoke to a chat rep. They said it activates within 24-48 hours of receiving the SIM. I'm not sure how exactly they would know this though unless you activate by inserting into a device in which case you could just stall by not doing that?? So basically not helpful.

      • Normally, you need to sign for it. Also, officially, you need to show the delivery person your driver license. The delivery person might need to note down the driver license number.

However, I doubt Telstra's system is that smart.

  • just wondering if the $10 Monthly Credit on All Data Plans was available before this frenzy offer started? i thought it always applied for adding a new service or was it made to include also this 5GB for $5 Per Month mobile broadband plan special offer as a one off?

    • +5

Would you know, or be able to find out (being associated)?

      • -2

im not associated but dam this website must pick up a telstra ip addresses or something thus i leave it checked.

  • Would there be any cash rewards cash back if I top up a grand fathered Telstra data plan, say if I top up a $50 yearly data top up, personally I doubt very much but interesting to know if anyone's tried this? Cheers 😬👍

Edit: whoops my grandfathered data plan is prepaid seems only works on postpaid data plans 🥺

  • Is there an issue going on with Cashrewards tracking? I did my Telstra order yesterday and still no tracking email. Did an Amazon order today and again no tracking email.

  • Maybe I missed something but I cannot find the infor for the data bank. Does the 5gb monthly will be in the data bank if we dont use it? Please advise

  • +1

Would I be able to pair this with an Aldi pay as you go plan for calls and text, on a Samsung S20+?

I barely use any calls at all so the $15 365-day PAYG plan would be plenty for me, meaning a grand total of $15 (Telstra) + $15 (Aldi) = $30 for the whole year…

    • +1

Is your Samsung dual sim? If so then yes. Sign up on this one and get an esim.

      • +1

Yeah it is, and that's exactly what I was planning to do. Just checking to see if there were any pitfalls that I wasn't aware of, like having two SIMs on the same network or something.

        • +2

Just to let you know with dual SIM if your on a call data will stop on the other sim till you get of the call also make sure you set data in phone settings to your second data SIM I.e. Telstra data sim or you'll chew up data on the first SIM I.e. ALDI sim,.. WiFi doesn't get effected during a call,.. Note 9 user here 😬🤪🤑👍

  • As someone who has never used Cashrewards before, would I be correct in saying that I just sign up to this SIM card via the link on their website (with no cookie/tracking/ad blockers) and then after (up to) 100 days I’ll have $45 added to my Cashrewards balance that I can then withdraw as cash? Seems too good to be true, that brings the total cost down to nearly ~$1/month?

    • +1

thats exactly how it works mate. it does sound too good to be true, but cashrewards make money off of you by selling the data and getting people to go through their sites and i'm sure other ways as well.

      • Thanks for that mate! Very excited.

  • Does anyone know how good Cashrewards are at honoring things like this? Mine still hasn't tracked after 24 hours and I'm debating just cancelling it and ordering again.

    • it does say if it doesn't show the track on pending within 7 days you can lodge to customer service to investigate, just be patient ?

      • If it hasn't tracked yet then it's very unlikely to ever track.

I'm well aware you can contact customer services, but that doesn't necessarily mean they'll resolve it. If I'm "patient" and just wait then it's going to be far too late to do anything about it if they don't honour it - which is exactly why I asked the question!

        • Read the updated notice in bold print in the deal’s description! Telstra is currently having tracking issues and sales may not track for some people. Unfortunately, my order may be one of them. I think I will cancel my order with Telstra and sign up again.

        • I'm in the same boat. Fingers crossed cashrewards will honour it. Purchased properly via cashrewards in good faith.

Will just lodge it after 7 days

          • +1

@Ruisu: Lodging a case doesn’t necessarily mean the order was tracked, hence cashback may get declined.

In the past, I have made purchases via Cashrewards properly too but had got my cashback declined due to reasons beyond Cashreward’s control.

  • I did the stupid thing and didn't read it was just a data plan and ordered it :/ Any thoughts on if i'll be charged if I don't activate it? Telstra live chat not working.

    • You may have to cancel the order if possible. Alternatively, since it's $5 per month only, you can cancel on Day 1 (via app or call after 5pm to minimize wait time - cancellation requests might connect to their Adelaide call centre) and you should only be charged for 1 day (approx $0.17).

  • +1

By the way, it is impossible to talk to Telstra by phone or live chat.

132000 hangs up on you after waiting on hold for 2 hours, and Live Chat just goes in circles and doesn't actually allow you to speak to a human.

    Try it yourself.

The only way is to go to a shop or via the TIO, which is what I did.

    • Tell the bot u wanna talk to a human, twice.

  • Took them 2 weeks to change my internet speed but hey, let's have a '7 day blitz' never change tel$tra….

  • +6

Does anyone know if this is also eligible for the free 25GB? It seems like you just might be able to? https://www.telstra.com.au/covid19/supporting-you-during-cov…

    • +1

Yes it looks like it would work. Also see here.
Will try it when I get my sim card. Thanks.

  • Tried sign up but after asking source of income, entered retired , then have to enter employment info. I'm retired, so can not enter this info, but can't get past it to finalize order.

    • +2

Select 'Other' under the employment category and you should get an applicable option.

      • +1

        It worked, thanks.

  • I got order confirmation from Telstra but that's it.
They sent a text message to me saying they've sent an email so I can verify my email address, but I never got it :/

  • +1

Can someone please confirm if this will work in an Android phone for data?

    • +2

      yes

      • +1

Yes yes yes for sure 🤪🤑😬👍

  • Is there a way to add this to an apple watch series 3? I have a woolworths mobile sim in my phone, a 12 month plan, would be interested in syncing this sim to my apple watch, then swapping sim back to my woolworths mobile sim.

    • There is esim option so presumably yes

      • although it has an esim, I don't think apple watch will allow it. I think it only allows number sharing with your iPhone - basically, your iPhone needs to have service and you pay an extra $5/month to number share.

Would happy to be proven wrong if someone else has activated a plan only on their watch not requiring an iphone.

  • +2

Got the email confirmation of the order both from Telstra and Cashrewards. I hope to get the physical SIM card soon. Thanks for the post. I think it is a great deal.

  • None of my cashbacks seem to have tracked.. Signed up last night about 11.30pm. Anybody else experiencing delays?

    • Did mine around 3am got both Telstra and cashreward emails confirmations and $45 showed up in my cashreward account no issues I did 3 of them, was worried at first as link from cashreward desktop webpage opened up in New tab to Telstra webpage and had to navigate to page with the $15 extra small data plan but all worked out 😬🤑🤪🥺👍

  • No cashrewards tracking yet since yesterday:(

    • Same here.

      • -1

Yep have to cancel it after 1 month. Not worth it without cashback.

    • Same.

      • So I have cancelled it via chat. I am sure cashback will not be tracked and they will take way long time to follow up and came up with resolution

    • +1

      Got tracked instantly just then.

Have to be careful not click on the ozbargain link directly

    • same here. over 1 day since ordered but no tracking confirmation from CB. guess will raise a ticket after the 7 day waiting period.

      • Better cancel the order and sign up again before the offer expires. You’ll never know if your order will ever get tracked. Read notice in bold in deal’s description.

  • Anyone know if you can have two of these on one account? Would usually contact telstra via chat but given it being out due to covid i'm trying to save myself a call

  • +1

Just noticed the note in the description about Telstra having trouble tracking cash rewards. I ordered last night and its not showing up in cash rewards yet is that normal?

  • +1

Did mine around 3am got both Telstra and cashreward emails confirmations and $45 showed up in my cashreward account so no issues at all and I did 3 of these sims, though was worried at first as link from cashreward desktop webpage opened up in new tab to seperate Telstra webpage and had to navigate to page with the $15 extra small data plan but all worked out 😬🤑🤪🥺👍

Question,.. seems like we can profit in cash if we cancel these Sims after the 100 day required cash rewards qualification to then withdraw money,.. I've done 3x of these is there a limit how many Sims we can get?????

Edit: actually my cashreward account states "Estimate approval time frame: till 28/08/2020" works out to be 5 months (~150 days) not 100 days

  • +1

Can @tightass check in whether their were issues last night given so many are reporting issues with cashback not tracking?

  • Is Telstra pretty spot on for cutting the extra credit after 12 months? Or is it wishful thinking the credit will just keep ticking over…

    • My previous discounts were automatically removed after the 12 months. They put it in their system as a 12/24 month discount which expires after that time

      • I have never used Telstra postpaid service. How easy to cancel? Need to call or just online?

        • Normally it’s just a conversation with the online chat, currently online chat is unavailable but you would think it should all be sorted in 12 months.

    • Worry about that in 12 months…

  • This plan is not showing up for me on the cashrewards telstra page. Anyone else facing the same issue?

    • +1

      Still there for me,..
      https://www.telstra.com.au/internet/data-plans

      Scroll down of page

      • Yeah, if you go directly to the telstra page then the deal is there. But if you go telstra page through cashrewards phone app or the desktop website, this deal is not showing up there.

  • +1

I got the confirmed cashback notification about 15 minutes after the order.

    • You mind telling me how exactly you placed the order. As i couldn't find this offer on cashreward telstra page, i kept open the cashreward window on one tab and went directly to the plan through op's link and bought the plan. Its been an hour and still no cashreward confirmation email.

      • copy and paste this into your web browser.

        https://www.telstra.com.au/internet/data-plans

        good luck!

        • So did you placed the order through the op's link and received the cashback confirmation?

          • @GPreet: i dont remember to be honest.

            • @ooftbargains: Np. As i already placed the order, i will wait couple of more hours for the cashback email and if it doesn't come then i will place a new order through the link you shared cuz the cashback offer in ending at 12.01 am.

            • @ooftbargains: On your PC web browser sign into your cash rewards account then use above link and yes will open in Telstra page but will still work getting a cashreward, anyway seems like the offer is over hopefully another will be around soon

  • Very good deal, thank you very much for sharing. I will see how to cope with the 1.5mbps.

  • +2

    Special Terms
Effective 12:01am AEST 22/05/20, cashback will no longer be available on SIM only, mobile broadband, or tablet plans. Cashback will only be available when you add a mobile device to month-to-month plans and remain connected for 24 months.
    https://www.cashrewards.com.au/telstra-mobile

    • So cashback is confirmed after 24 months. What a joke!

    • +1

      Ha, wow that changes things.
Glad I cancelled my original order and reordered yesterday to get the CR tracking working.
I take it if the order was placed and tracked prior to this time it will be honoured?

  • +1

Does shopback provide cashback on this plan. Missed cashrewards.

  • +1

Has anyone received their sim cards yet? I know that we shouldn't be greedy with deals like this, but wouldn't it be great if we can at least get an indication as to how long it will take…

  • +2

Has anyone received a tracking notification for their order? I’ve got a confirmed order Tuesday night and nothing further since

    • +2

      Same here.

    • no tracking details yet. got mail that account number email billing is activated on 20th night. weird that they have activated billing even before the sim has been received and activated?? is that normal with Telstra nowadays.

  • WTF received email thanking me for signing up to the Mobile Plan Extra Small $40/mth. My order confirmation email says I signed up to the Data Plan Extra Small $15/mth. Anyone else?

  • yikes, just checked… all good here:

    Data Plan Extra Small

Effective 12:01am AEST 22/05/20, cashback will no longer be available on any Telstra services until further notice.

if it hasnt tracked and we apply to manually logged the tracking, will it get denied since they changed the terms?

Purchased on 21/5/20 when they still had the $45 cashback.
Waste of a credit check if I have to cancel

  • Any one received any more updates from telstra other than the order confirmation email that we received when order was placed?

    • +1

received another mail yesterday evening with the number. no details on shipping/tracking etc. on it

Thanks for choosing us for your new mobile broadband.
Here's what you need to know about your plan and inclusions, all in one place.
      Data Plan Extra Small
      NUMBER

      • Lucky you. Nothing for me yet!

        • Same here. Nothing besides first order confirmation with a #FA number.

      • I received the same email as your. But in the email, its said plan cost $15 per month and nothing mention about $10 discount for 12 month!

        • +1

Don’t worry about that, it’s in the disclosure document.

      • the 2nd email with number doesn't mention the $10 credit discount right ? only stats $15 monthly cost ?
