Rather pay the extra $1 not to have to visit the HN Store lol https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/playstation-4-the-last-of…

    • Agree, HN customer service is pain in the ass. Good luck trying to exercise your consumer rights.

    • +1

Don't mind me asking, but why does HN get so much hate on OB?

      • +14

Personally I've found them to be very unhelpful and aggressively try to push any issues onto the manufacturer in the past.

        • +11

I agree. Never had a pleasant experience in store. The other day I got a gift for my missus which she didn't really want. Didn't open the box at all and went to return it and they said can't take it back because of Covid, even though it was clearly obvious that it hadn't been used.

Stuff like this that happens all the time that turns people off.

      • +6

        Gerry Harvey Tax??

      • Never had an issue with their on-line purchases. They have some good deals and some prices are sold at their RRP (never really encountered them overcharging above RRP). Monster cables ect.. are a rort, but that's their RRP. Their is also an overhead to pay their staff and the large retail space, so some people expect warehouse prices.

      • +17

For me it's because I see Gerry Harvey as the reason we now have to pay GST for online goods from overseas. I know it's not just him, but he was the one always campaigning for it under the guise of "protecting Aussie retail". But all he cares about is his bottom line.

It annoys me because overseas retailers are not collecting the GST for the government for free (they will be keeping a significant portion of GST for the service) and we consumers are the ones that suffer. Also, we were cut off from buying stuff from Amazon.com (US) and sites like base.com no longer ship to Australia.

        • -1

          where is his bottom line?

      • -2

Always had 10/10 service at HN. They stock many brands which other companies don't (try finding Miele in JB or Yamaha at GoodGuys etc).

Always get staff/cost pricing and excellent service also their warranties offered on some products are the best out of any other retailer once you actually look into them. For instance bought a mattress protector for my son, if it fails and stains the mattress within 5 years they replace the mattress. You can't find that in any other retailer, not even Adair's. The protector was $16 down from $49 due to cost pricing. That's even cheaper than Kmart!

There are also a lot of other perks too such as instant replacement of product within 4 years if any part breaks or wear and tear if the product is under $400.

But others will still hate, it's their loss and my gain! it makes shopping there so much easier!!

Amazon to a parcel locker nearby is the way to go. They're really good for launch day deliveries.

        • I haven't been having too much luck with launch day deliveries from Amazon AU - tried with 3 games, that were released on Thursday/Fridays, didn't receive any of them until Monday/Tuesday of the week after (and they were usually sent the afternoon of their release day according to the tracking). Which is still not bad, but it's not launch day. Maybe it depends on your city, though. Or the delivery option? I've been using the free prime one.

          • @akaB: Probably location as you say. I get them delivered fine on launch day to parcel locker in CBD without fail. Great to grab on the way home after work for the weekend.

  • Spend $300 on the collectors edition

    • My mate did this, I shared on my facebook that I got the $49 delivered deal and his like pfft, Collectors edition on it's way :P

    • +5

I don’t know a single collector’s edition that has increased in value (except for some limited edition consoles)

      • Assassin's Creed statue ones certainly have.

    Conflicted!!
So many 100% ratings of this game to make this the 4th highest PS4 title of all time

Watched a FULL walkthrough, I won't comment on the storyline as that is too subjective.
    - Graphics were amazing
    - Animations were amazing
    - 10-15 hours of the gameplay appeared very very repetitive. Ofcourse this is subjective
    - The gameplay was linear, which wasn't what I understood it would be
    - Stealth was nothing amazing
    - Limited challenges (some may like this)
    - The characters make some amazingly unexpected decisions that you must play through (again subjective)
    - Highest level of realism in violence I have seen in a video game (not all gore), well done for the team in pulling this off, but personally too far for myself, but I acknowledge their efforts.

If the reviews keep coming in at 100%, perhaps this will be the best title of all time, but many people will not like this game.

Excellent price for a new release though.

    • +7

Wouldn't listen to the people bagging out the game, at the end of the day if you "the consumer" enjoy the title that is all that matters :)

I myself have only started Part 1 and I love it !

      • Agree, we all like different things.

      • Agree.

In my view, if you would rather read the spoilers, and watch full playthroughs of other people playing the game, rather than playing the game yourself, then you might not be the intended audience for this game.

        • Depends on your hobbies. I have been waiting for this for years.

    • +6

"The gameplay was linear, which wasn't what I understood it would be" - a non-linear Naughty Dog game? What made you think that would happen?

      • +1

Everyone forgets about Jak and Daxter smh

    • I think it'll probably have a good story, but I got bored of the 1st one about 6 hours in due to the gameplay being repetitive and linear. Not sure this one will be very different as they likely don't want to tamper too much given it was quite a successful game

  • Looking forward to price matching this or JB with my local EB games(I have credit there). Thanks OP

There seems to be a lot of hate for this game on ozbargain. It seems to be coming from gamers who have a bit of a bone to pick with the game designers.

Meanwhile, myself and 99% of the public will probably buy it, because we liked the first one?

    • -1

Yet a deal gets 200+ on ozb ? Don't think everyone on here hates it lol https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/541173

    • +7

total crap. A lot of people are fed up with the conditions a lot of their employees get subjected to and toxic people shoving their own bones to pick with the world into games and picking fights with anyone who disagrees.

To a lot of people this game isn't even that it's exposing a ton of bought review sites, it managed to get solid ratings across the board despite a lot of reviewers tearing shreds off it that other games have gotten lesser scores for.

A long time ago a reviewer was given a game that was being heavily advertised on the site let alone all over the industry like this game, he spoke his mind and didn't give it a savage review but he gave the game a "ok" score and got fired over it.

Now you pickup a ton of reviews and your finding them criticizing stuff.. then giving it a 9 or 10, things don't add up.

The worst offender so far is a few review sites put up near identical reviews as well, so this whole thing is just stinking, you've gotta remember this isn't regulated, theres nothing illegal about dodgy reviews or claiming whatever story you want on the leak claiming it was a hack even with no evidence etc… it's just convinced a lot of us to wait until this one is in the bargain bin.

The worst thing out of all of this is a lot of people defending the crap out of this game on political lines, yet won't wait a week to buy it to prevent the toxic management getting their week one bonus's of the sales despite running their staff into the ground both physically and mentally.

Intersting, so you and all the others attacking the game and naughty dog, also don't buy any other games or products from companies that also have toxic working conditions? So no amazon purchases etc right?

        • Amazon are terrible with how they treat their employees :(

          • @typhoonadventure: Case in point, so assuming you don't buy anything from them, and any deal that pops up you will advocate against them right?

            • @onlinepred: I don't buy from amazon.

I've also yet to see them instigating fights with people and then playing the victim, making a terrible story for their game and then blaming anyone who doesnt like it as being x-phobic, and people mindlessly backing them for representation.

So the similarities kind of end at Bezo's treating his staff like crap dude. Find another comparison for that "oooh gotcha" moment.

I'm going to price match this at jbhifi. I have a $10 cashback through Westpac extras

Might help those those are with Westpac and targeted.

  • Im guessing this game will return back to full RPP once it's officially launched. Probably won't be on sale that much once the hype is on full speed.

    • ha, you sure about that?

  • Will the price be same after 19 June?

    • Maybe, definitely.
