        Yes yes, there is HOPE!!!

  • +3

Some people would cancel the order due to 2.5 months long waiting I think? probably help others who really want get it earlier?

  • Ordered 1pm Sunday, October 19th ETA

  • -5

ordered 4:50pm saturday 1 august. original delivery date was 11th august, and just got the delayed until 22nd october email

pretty ridiculous the initial and updated expected delivery dates don't seem to correspond to the time of purchase

i might contact Dell CS and inquire whether they can confirm delivery dates are basically a lottery regardless of when the purchase was made

if they confirm it is delivery lotto, then i'll cancel immediately. if they can ensure i get mine before anyone who purchased on sunday, i might not cancel.

its not so great a deal that its worth waiting seven times longer for than the original expected delivery time, which wasn't too bad

    • +8

I'd probably go right and and just cancel chief. The support crew will not be able to give you any answers that hold any accuracy.

    • +2

Hey, just chiming in on this as a previous Dell customer. It is a lottery and order date doesn't usually correspond with your "place in the queue"
EG - ordered a laptop mid March. Arrived 5 weeks later after chasing up multiple times per week.

The first "updated" arrives by date (which I believed was just placeholder) ended up being pretty much accurate for me within 3-4 days. But this is not always true, it's not usually accurate by any means.

Those who ordered the same laptop several weeks after me received within one week.

Google "Dell Delivery Woes Whirlpool" to learn more ;)

      Good luck!
And don't feel too bad, I think this monitor will be normally around this price in the future with codes (once they have more stock!)

  • Ordered on sunday 5pm, just got the delay notification to arrive by 19/10. Meh, still a nice deal if the specs are as expected and I cannot justify to be pissed unless the 27GL850 will go sub $650 again or they will ask for proof for the uni code… Khmmm-khmmm… THOSE WHO ACTUALLY GOT THE MONITOR, can you please send it to a PC mag to get it reviewed? :D Lucky bastards…. I still wonder tho how many units were ordered… Cheers

  • anyone considering cancelling? October is so far away without a monitor to use….

  • +2

Order Delayed 3 freaking months!!! Anyone get this email? I’m cancelling

  • +3

hahahahaha, this is funny as Google trend

  • +6

Mine arrived today. Looks great but haven't had much time to use it yet.

Ordered midday sunday, got a confirmation email 24 hours later and it arrived Wednesday. They must have just randomly selected people to receive the first batch.

    • +4

What payment method did you use? Suprising that they didn't fulfil on a first come first serve basis, lots of comments about people ordering Saturday and getting delayed.
      Lucky for you though, nice!

      • +1

PayPal. It was in that pending payment clearance status for the first day so I wasn't hopeful but then I got the confirmation email and it went to in production and then another day later shipped. I often am too late for deals here so finally had a bit of luck.

        • +5

ur so lucky dude, I ordered on Friday afternoon and still got the new 19/10 ETA…

    • Did you use the ECU5 code? I don't want to wait 3 months only for them to ask for the proof..

      • +1

        Yeah I used both codes.

        • You're so lucky mate. Are you by any chance affiliated with ECU? Or you just ordered the item using your personal profile?

    • They don't seem to be fulfilling them in order. I placed my order at 8:30pm on Saturday and got notified last night that my order had been delayed. Paid by Credit Card too so the payment was processed straight away. Perhaps it has something to do with proximity to where their stock was located? (You're in QLD according to your profile and I'm in regional Vic).

  • Same, mine is delayed till 19th Oct.Unsure if I care to wait that long.

  • +1

Email saying my order is delayed until 22 Oct. Cancelled

  • Your order is very important to us and we intend to ship it as soon as possible. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience.

The delivery date of your order has been updated to arrive by: oct. 19, 2020.

Please use the button below to track your order.

    Happy to wait regardless - I brought @ 02/08/2020 @ 1am

    • +2

      Where did you bring it?

  • +1

And now 3 days later Dell is telling the buyer that the ETA for delivery is 19 October!? WTF!?

    • Update, just received a new delivery date of 30-Sep-20… so Dell is bringing it forward. Good… can't wait.

      • And AusPost has received it and expect delivery this Monday or Tuesday the latest, so 21/22 September… lucky enough better than the 30th of Sep and much better than the initial your order is delayed till late October… Still a proper two months of patience between order and delivery.

  • I received an email saying my order has been delayed with the new delivery date being October 19th. I ordered it around 9pm on Sunday 02/08 and the payment was deducted from my bank immediately (as pending). Just in case anyone was still wondering

  • +1

    still not a bad buy

  • +1

I feel like i done well with a 14 Oct ETA lol. Sunday ordered (02/08) and the CC debited the next day. Ill keep it till something else tickles the interest

    • +2

I don't get why they're doing them out of order. Ordered 3pm on the Saturday and mine's set to 19 Oct :/

    • When is the last date to cancel by the way? Is it stated anywhere on the e-mail/website/

  • +4

Yeah it's really unfortunate they they are essentially filling orders in a random way. Doesn't make a lot of sense really.

I received confirmation on Saturday 01/08 at around 6:30pm and based on the comments here, the delivery estimates aren't based at all on when people placed their orders/received confirmation.
Some estimates are early October when they were only ordered late Sunday and confirmed on Monday afternoon, whereas some people who ordered on Saturday have been given 22/10 ETAs?

    • My only suggestion is they might be filling orders based on where their stock is located.

  • delayed to 19/10 as well. will probably cancel my orders. not a bad deal but the wait is just too much of a pain.

guess this is a trick by Dell as they assume this ETA on OCT will get those who cant wait to cancel, so Dell won't order too much.

  • Lol, ordered 1am Sunday, ETA 19/10.

Ordered just for WFH during this lockdown, now it's pointless. If there's better deal on 32", I will cancel it.

    • I expect there will be a lot of cancellations if a better deal appears between now and October.

  • +1

How do you actually cancel this order? I don't see any options on my purchase page and the Dell support page says:
"After Production/Shipped Orders: Orders that have already started the production process or that have shipped cannot be cancelled. If the order is no longer needed you will need to request a Return."
Do I need to call support to cancel?

    • +1

I believe you need to ask support and go from there. I cant see anything in the policy that allows for it without any charges.

  • Anyone had issues with cancelling orders before?

  • -2

Dell website, this monitor is back on stock, RRP is $569.99. Dose that mean they sourced more stock. I am curious, if there is another promotion between now and then before 19/10, the price will be end up with cheaper then what we paid now.

    • Are you sure that's not the US site? The monitor definitely isn't available on the AU site anymore.

      • Oh gosh, you are right, that is US site, although I didn't intend to access US site.

  • do they charge now or when shipping?

    • My CC already got charged at time of order. But it's still under the pending tab.

      • If it's pending, it could still be a pre-auth.

    • Dell probably will charge soon. CSR previously indicated within 10 days of the purchase. I don't work for Dell so don't quote me.

  • I wonder how this will affect pending payments on PayPal, according to them the authorisation is only valid until 30 days after the initial hold after which they say the merchant will not be able to charge (according to PayPal CS who I contact earlier).

In terms of cancellations and refunds, Dell CS said yesterday that refunds were available up until it's shipped.

    • +2

What happens once the pre auth expires after 30 days?

    • +2

Dell normally would charge within 10 days. The up to 30 days for pre-auth is the same for credit card and PayPal. If they elected to charge payment after 30 days for credit card, that would imply Dell stored the CC info (that's how Amazon is able to charge later). Dell probably won't be able to do the same for PayPal.

So, it kind of goes both ways. On the one hand, we prefer the merchant not to store CC details. On the other hand, in a situation like this, the preference would be for the merchant to charge once the item(s) are in stock, ready to despatch.

  • 20/10 ETA here. Will keep order for now and keep on checking for other deals until then! Been pretty tempting on the Xiaomi ultrawide, decisions decisions…

    • Same here, almost tempted to buy the xiaomi as well and use this on the side :P oh the ozbargain temptations..

  • +3

My understanding is that the ETA email you received was the latest time you'll receive it (I received the same email stating 19/10).

As per my previous posts these were the shipment dates advised (with number of units per shipment):

    17/8 - 32 units
    28/8 - 176 units
    4/9 - 64 units
    18/9 - 64 units

I just received confirmation from Dell that I'm on the 18/9 shipment to Australia with delivery to my address by 24/9.

    • +1

Poor Dell support about to be bombarded by people trying to confirm their shipment dates now.
Thank you for the info though!

    • +2

I would assume they are quoting worst case delivery times due to possible complications.

Looks like a few people might cancel which will hopefully speed things up.

    • If enough people cancel maybe we can get our monitors by the end of the month.

  • Just a short review on the monitor.

Refresh rate wise it can deliver the 165hz no problem. The backglow on the penal is just blue not RGB.

However, i think my unit has some light leakage / bleeding around the edges ( super minor). It also doesn't seem to be SUPER uniform.

    • It's a common issue with IPS and the panel this monitor uses seems to be particularly bad. The main complain with the LG 27GL850 is BLB and IPS glow.

Do you see any interlacing at 60Hz? It looks like vertical lines on moving objects.

      • +5

Yeah this monitor has some back glow

No interlacing that I could see, response time seems to be as expected or even better for an ips

I'm guessing Dell didn't calibrate these

EDIT: ive googled LG 27GL850 ips glow and i can tell you off the bat its not that bad

        • Update, i thought i was going crazy so ive opened the other one that ive ordered. the colour looks different with them side by side, however. it seems like the backleak locations are mostly the same

  • This is the email I got from support after my date changed to 19/10
    —-

Order is currently in production and parts are being fulfilled.

We are expecting the parts to be available by 17th August.

I have informed production team to allocate parts on priority to have your order fulfilled asap.

    • I have informed production team to allocate parts on priority to have your order fulfilled asap.

I feel like a large majority have contacted support and been told this. So if they actually are prioritising like they've stated, it's kind of redundant doing it for everyone's orders haha.

    • I emailed support who called me this morning and said they are doing everything they can to speed it up. Then they followed up with an email saying 19/10. What date did you place your order and how long did it take for this second email to come through?

      • I placed it afternoon Saturday 1st. I actually haven't received my first email, let alone my second one

For some reason email confirmation of the order isn't coming through

        • That's odd, have you contacted Dell Support?

          • @Balljuice: Yep. They gave me the order number so I can at least track it

They're "looking" into the reason why I've not getting emails

  • Just to join in on the chorus, got the message yesterday for an Oct delivery. Luckily this was an upgrade, so I can put up with 60hz gaming for a while longer

  • Emailed support yesterday and received a call today with follow up email to confirm what was talked about.

The order is on part shortage hold and it will get fulfilled on 01/09/2020

The current expected delivery date is on the (05/09/2020), the delivery date is a tentative date.

I have already informed the internal team to prioritize your order as soon as it is fulfilled

I request you to drop and email to me on 02/09/2020, so that i can talk with logistics to get the order delivered as soon as possible.

Over call support rep said there were "15,000" monitors on back order and that they were receiving "2000-3000 monitors" around September but honestly that just sounded like they were talking BS as it doesn't match up with what other people are reporting here. Take it with a grain of salt.

    • +2

well just looking at the click throughs to the dell product listing from this ozb deal page there were 17,468 clicks soooo… maybe there is 15,000 on back order…? :)

      • Maybe so, I tried to clarify on the details but they gave me some spiel about how a lot of orders are "bulk corporate orders" and that those are the main ones being delayed whilst our "consumer sales" are being prioritised. I highly doubt corporate are bulk buying "gaming monitors" but who knows.
Guess we just got to be patient with this one!

        • -1

The issue is that the CSRs are not the fulfilment team. So they only have generic details.

The 15,000 monitors are across all Dell monitors on back order I think. Likewise for 2000-3000 monitors. For example, I know work was ordering 4K monitors right before Covid-19. However, given those people needing the monitors are most likely working from home, no one really cares about getting them any time soon. So, prioritising consumer sales makes sense.

208 units coming for August basically.

  • Ended up pulling the trigger on a ViewSonic VX2758-2KP to tick me along until October. The Dell will become my main screen once it arrives and the VS my second.

    • Nice! How much did you pay for the Viewsonic?

    • Done the exact same thing! Bought the Viewsonic couple weeks ago from Centrecom, gonna use it as a second

  • +3

Well, someone did a UFO Ghosting test on Dell S2721DGF. Good, so-so, bad?
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=76FsZ-ZyvEs (Medium Overdrive "Super Fast")
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bNqjhenpAVA (Maximum Overdrive "Extreme")

    • +3

I would hardly use this as the basis to prove… well… anything at all really.

Some random using his mobile phone camera to pan as fast as they can across an unidentified monitor screen. Zero other info.

I don't mind if it gets a bad review, but I will not use those clips as evidence or proof.

    • +6

Hoping rtings.com do a review or Hardware Unboxed on youtube

      • +8

Came here to say this - can't wait for Hardware Unboxed review. Their monitor reviews are premium

  • +15

I feel kind of bad for the poor people at Dell Support dealing with the widespread onset of order anxiety hahah, seems to be very contagious and lockdown will do nothing to stop it!

It sucks if someone bought this as a part of a new PC build, but it's an upgrade/addition for me, and I've been using my 27" 1080p 60Hz monitor for years at this point, so a couple more months won't hurt.

I'm both unsurprised and yet also shocked they sold so many of these. I'm perhaps more shocked they're going to fulfill them all.

Sneaky shout out to the commenters on Hardware Unboxed's latest monitor review asking for a video on the S2721DGF - I see you. ;)

    • +1

but it's an upgrade/addition for me, and I've been using my 27" 1080p 60Hz monitor for years at this point

It's a huge upgrade for you, wow.

    • +1

I'm the same boat lol. Been using a 27" 1080 60hz asus monitor with an r9 270x paired with an i5-4460 (been using this for 6 years).

Upgrading to a 2070S paired with a 3800XT and this monitor. Should be a noticeable upgrade, so I'm sure I can wait a little longer.

      • +1

A 2070S is going to be a great pairing with this monitor! Unfortunately, it was realistically one or the other for me, so I'm going monitor first (after some arm twisting from this deal) and I'll upgrade my PC later down the road. It didn't really make a lot of sense upgrading my PC when I'm stuck using an old 1080p, 60 Hz monitor and my R9 290X powers most games just fine at this resolution.

Thankfully, my R9 290X is just capable of running this thing at 1440p and 144 Hz using the single DisplayPort connection my Gigabyte card has. I'll definitely be taking advantage of FreeSync in a lot of games at this kind of resolution…

    • Yep, I'm the same, still using a Dell U2711 as my main display right now.

  • Bought 3/8 at around 11pm
    Gotta wait till the 16/10

  • +15

haha sucks to be the greedy facebook seller trying to flog one of these for fast sale.

  • +1

Anyone have the S2721DGF and the S3220DGF they can compare? Like some others, I'm trying to work out if I should return the S3220DGF and wait for the S2721DGF.

  • I set mine up today but it wouldn't power on. Am I doing something wrong? I plugged in the power cable and pressed the power button but nothing. Tried on a few different power outlets and even plugged in a different power cable, still nothing. Probably get it RMA'd

    • Which button did you press when you say "power button"?

      • The power button on the bottom edge, right side. I've check both the quick start guide and the user manual. There are 4 buttons on the back right panel, and one power button on the bottom right edge. With my Xiaomi ultrawide, I didn't even need to press the power button and it powered up automatically. I've tried long pressing, and short pressing, neither worked.

    • It should definitely just be powering up. Power cable in and it should turn on (with or without a detected source). Sounds DOA. Beyond the troubleshooting steps you've taken, there isn't much more you can do on your end. Refund might be better, as you probably won't get another monitor for at least 3~ months.

      • +4

Thanks mate, seems like this might be the case. What a shame, was planning to give a review in the comments section.

        • +1

Unlucky mate. Imagine getting it DOA after waiting 3 months..

        • Are you sure you're plugging it all the way in to the monitor?

          • @MiscOzB: Yep, set it up exactly like the Xiaomi ultrawide, not working still

            • @Major Major: try use the power cable from the xiaomi

              • @berserkk: Sure did, tried everything I could think of, surely the chances of DOA is extremely low so thinking it must be something I'm doing wrong but can't seem to figure it out

    • I've been using mine for a week now with no issues. Can you see a light on the bottom right where the buttons are?

      • No lights at all, I checked every corner of the monitor. Did a small LED light come on when you plugged it in?

        • yep, as soon as I plug in the power cable… the light appears. the only thing I can recommend trying is to get a power cable that you 100% know works and try plugging it into the monitor
