          • @cassiopeia: That didn't happen for me. I had to press the power button (the little button on the bottom edge to the right with the LED).

            • @Dan_: oops yep, I definitely missed mentioning that step - thanks for that reminder. I haven't had the need to press that button since day 1, so it slipped my mind.

          • @cassiopeia: Thanks for your help everyone. I tried with a power cable I know for sure is working (the Xiaomi one) and pressed the power button and still nothing.

Wait for this or get the CX 48 inch?

They announced it coming to Australia!

    • +3

David Zhang did a review on it a few days ago (hooray he's back!). Looks pretty pretty good! https://youtu.be/Z60rsm4qJGo

      • +1

Nice I gave it a watch and looks great as a gaming set up for consoles

But I don't know if this set up is great for a Pc? He sits far away but I guess the stand at the back makes it hard to push back a bit

        • Yeah agreed, doesn't look like the best productivity monitor. I am eyeing off the LG 34GN850 too - hardware unboxed did an awesome review of it recently https://youtu.be/vu0vpIe-dZA

    • +1

      Can't really compare a 27" to a 48"…

      • +2

I know haha just trying to justify it is all lol cos I was Gunna use this for ps5 n Xbox as well

    • +1

CX48 will cost at least 3 times this monitor, if not more.

    • key question will be sharpness of text.
Did a little web browsing on a relative's LG C8 2018 65" OLED TV and the text was quite squinty - not comfy for long use.

    • Why not both?

For the people who are looking for a monitor with main spec including 27' 144/165Hz 2K IPS Panel, it seems there are only a few options right now in oz market

Budget one would be ViewSonic VX2758-2kp-mhd, $465.
    27 144hz 2k, without HDR certified

Mid range would be Acer VG272Up, same nanoips panel LM270WQA-SSA1 as LG27GL850 but $200 cheaper, HDR400, now $629 on umart.

Another one is Y27Q-20 from Lenove, also LM270WQA-SSA1 but offically overclocked to 165hz, 102%DCI-P3, it can run 2K 165hz and 10 bit color HDR on same time when connect via DP1.4 cable, unlike ViewSonic one, who claims can do so but only 2K 144 on 8 bit, it's $641.5 on Amazon, the AMAZING fact is when you connect PS4, it will become 4K+12bit+60hz, which indicates it has a powerful drive and module even under the same panel with 27GL850 and VG272Up.

The Most expensive one would be LG27GL850, it was $729 3 months ago and 669 last Chrismas but now it's $829 which is crazy, LM270WQA-SSA1 panel also but just 2K 144hz, in my opinion this monitor is overestimated and overpriced a lot now.
Also some users compliant there are two issues on this one, 1st is 1ms GTG is based on overclocking of OD volt, which lead to a bad flare when FPSing, another is Contrast, it claims 1000:1 but in fact it's 800:1 when it was release 1.5 years ago. LG should figure it out now btw.

    • Any advice on something 27"/2K for use as a second/third monitor?

      • +1

If you need to use the monitor at same time especially for gaming, my suggest is just grab another one same as your first monitor, yes I understand some people may prefer buying a second monitor which way better than their first one, but you will understand what I'm saying when you just walk across Officework or JBHIFI monitor row and shelf, it's really "colorful" even the monitors are playing same picture or video. As the panel the color the driver the module are much different brand by brand and color turning skill is much difficult for general users. So if you want to protect your eyes, just choose same one :P

        • my primary is an S2716DG…

          • @harro112: It's an TN panel M270DTN01.5 released at least 4 years ago from AUO and this monitor is discontinued, I'd suggest you go one of the four monitor I mentioned above based on your budget. Also ASUS VG27AQ is another choice if your budget is above $700, AUO ips panel M270Q008 002 and 2k 165hz.

    • Thanks for the write up!

Do you know which one would be closest to the Dell? I'm thinking of buying a second monitor once this Dell arrives.

      • +1

        LG27GL850

        • Thanks mate! will have a look into the monitor.

      • +1

Lenovo is best one based on spec in my opinion, then Acer.

        • Thanks mate, i was going to look into all of them. Having a foundation to start my search is great.

I would love to just order another Dell, but it's not an option at the moment. Maybe in the near future (but i doubt it lol).

    • The one that's $641 on Amazon is actually the Y27gq-20, which is the TN version. Can also be had for cheaper on ebay for $599 with a code right now. I was really tempted to pull the trigger on that until I learned it's TN.

The only place I can even see the IPS one in stock in Aus is on the Lenovo site itself, where it's going for $989.

    • +1

I ordered one on Sunday via Paypal and found our my card on Paypal had expired so I contact support and provided my card details to be charged on Monday.
My balance showed the money was unavailable but had not actually been taken yet, just checked and looks like the money is now available again so i guess they will charge me when they have stock and are ready to ship.

    • +2

I've heard two different versions from two different Dell CSRs.

CSR #1: Dell will process the payment within 10 days.
CSR #2: Dell will only process the payment when it is ready to dispatch your order.

The original thinking was a PayPal pre-auth can only last 30 days, but it appears that a re-auth can be performed to extend it.

      • I got the same response as to what CSR#2 said. She also mentioned that Dell has already approved the payment and will hold it until dispatch. I did clarify if there's a chance the payment will expire, she said if that happens they will contact me. I'll just check the payment status from time to time, been waiting for a good monitor replacement for my current one for 3 years

who else has been told they aren't getting there's until October?

    • +7

      Good question, almost everyone.

      • +1

E-mail/status page says 19/10 for me, speaking with CS they said it's a generic statement with my specific delivery eta for 31/08.

    • Me…😭

    • I recieved an email saying mine will come in Oct.

  • Anybody know when a 30-32" IPS 4K HDR 144Hz+ adaptive sync (preferably g-sync) monitor will come out?
Only asking because that's what I'll upgrade to, when I do eventually upgrade from this Dell S2721DGF :)

  • +7

    17/8 - 32 units
    28/8 - 176 units
    4/9 - 64 units
    18/9 - 64 units
    25/9 - 800 units

Those are the dates Dell is expecting to receive more units. Deliveries will take place after those dates.

    • If i'm among those who will receive theirs from the batch of 800 (25/9), i hope the quality is no different.

      • +1

It wont be any less in quality if your thinking panels. That would be a expensive mistake from them if discovered to inferior panels with lower specs

        • -1

It won't be the first time Dell switched the panel maker for their monitors. However, it looks like LG and AUO panels are slightly different in dimensions so not easily switchable.

Regardless of whether it is LG or AUO, with IPS panels, there is always a bit of lottery involved. Will Dell tolerate more dead pixels due to high volume? After all, Dell's dead pixel policy is bad to start with.

          • @netsurfer: My last 4 monitors have all had bright pixels so as long as they cover that it should be fine. I haven't seen a dead pixel on an out of box display in quite some time.

            • @Yuri Lowell: But less than 6 dark pixels are not covered!

            • @Yuri Lowell: You are lucky. I returned 3 Dell monitors so far due to dead pixel related issues.

LG's initial E-IPS panels' quality control was horrible and they had far too many dead pixels. The last one Dell sent me (AH-IPS), I had to use 14 days satisfaction warranty to return it. Dell support insisted that I pay for the return postage. There's no way I accept a $600+ monitor with dead pixels on day 1. Yet another LG panel.

              • @netsurfer: I think they would RMA it, ive got mine with the first batch and the colour was off compare with the same monitor so the guy offer a swap but im currently waiting on them giving me an ETA

                • @sushimaster: Colour was off is a different matter. They definitely should give you a replacement. First Dell E-IPS monitor I returned had a cluster of brighter pixels in the lower middle, it was really bad, that issue was worse than the bad pixels. The shocker was the replacement one was just as bad, with a cluster of dead pixels (10+).

It's disappointing to hear the QA on these are not so good either.

  • Ordered one, received a notification that the delivery is estimated to be in September :(

    • +4

Consider yourself lucky… it seems most orders are delayed until October

  • Due to the delay if there was something comparable I'd cancel and switch, but anything decent around this price seems to be VA.

I'd recommend VA for your TV, but not for a monitor. I have one and it feels like someone's shining a torch in your face after a while. Eye fatigue if I try to use it all day.

  • This is somewhat specific, but if anyone was lucky enough to get this monitor early and has an Xbox One S or X, could you check if the monitor is able to support 120Hz at 1440p?

    • +4

Doesn't really matter for those consoles, neither of them will push frame rates that high to hit the refresh rate.

      • +1

I know, but it could be an indication that the monitor is capable of doing 120Hz over HDMI with the Series X. As far as I'm aware many 1440p monitors don't support 120Hz on Xbox despite being capable of it when connected to a PC via HDMI.

    • +1

Which XB1X games support native 1440p@120Hz? Quite a lot of games are 4K downsampled to 1440p. Freesync test would be more useful.

      • +1

You don't have to be playing games at 120fps to reap the benefits of 120Hz.

  • +1

My Credit Card got charged on the 2/8 when I ordered, but I only just now got the PayPal receipt dated 8/8.

Is this just paypal hanging on to the money?

    • +1

I have the same thing, but transaction no longer shows on my bank.

  • +24

Ended up cancelling my order. I don't need 165Hz to look at spreadsheets………
Hopefully means another Ozbargainer gets theres sooner.

  • +1

Just checking if anyone else is seeing the same thing.

My bank no longer shows the transaction and its still there on paypal but not pending anymore. I'm a little confused as to what has happened.

    • +2

Dell did a pre-auth. In PayPal, it should still be showing the transaction as a pre-auth. The credit card pre-auth probably expired after 7 days. The intention of the pre-auth was a temporary hold so you don't overspend on your credit card. However, in this case, most people's PayPal pre-auth will likely need to go over 30 days. It's unclear whether PayPal allows this (without customer's approval - i.e. whether a re-auth can be performed by an merchant without customer to approve it again).

Most Dell CSRs indicate Dell will actually charge you when they have your unit in stock and ready to send it out (kind of like Amazon).

      • Seems kind of weird to do (the return of funds). What happens when they try to charge the card again and someone doesn't have the required funds in their account?

        • +1

The transaction will fail so Dell will allocate the monitor to someone else (I was only kidding there). Dell will contact you and ask you for an alternative payment method I reckon.

      • This is highly annoying as paypal is linked to my regular transaction account - meaning I put the amount for the monitor in there during the day of purchase, but do not want it to have to stay there for up to 30 days while Dell does its thing.

Can I just transfer the amount to my paypal account and it will draw from there in the first instance when Dell try and take the funds again?

        • NVM… funds came out again 2 days later like everyone else below. Sweet.

    • Correction: It's likely Dell has charged the amount. Your bank has yet to reflect that in the statement. One CSR I spoke to did indicate Dell would charge within 10 days. It kind of makes sense as the general consensus is that you cannot pre-auth a PayPal payment over 30 days. A re-auth is possible to extend it, but a re-auth without customer approval seems a bit strange.

Need to wait till next week to figure out what exactly is happening.

    • My experience was also weird… I placed first order on 02/08 morning and immediately received the PayPal Receipt email. Then ECU came you know and I placed the second one. However, I couldn’t see any charge of first order in either PayPal or bank till now…

The second order was charged and transaction was showing in PayPal and bank. The pre-auth status goes away today in PayPal but bank still shows pending.

Btw, do you guys choose drop off or pick up for order return?

    • I paid with CC and the charge went through on 07/08, in case that helps at all.

  • Well this is weird. I paid by CC but now the auth has now disappeared?

  • +1

After reading above of people calling Dell to check on their order arrival and being told the will be given priority, I emailed Dell pleading my case and got an email in return saying the October email is accurate :-(

And the email said "let me know if you want to still wait for the order", so I replied saying I did just in case they decided to cancel it automatically!

    • I also sent an email on Friday to see if my October delivery was accurate. Received this back.

Thank you for contacting Dell Customer Care.

Didn't we somewhat establish in the previous pages that people who ordered first and via CC received their orders while those who paid via PayPal at the same time are waiting?

        • +1

          Yep, straight up lie

          • @conman123: Yes, I think I worked out what the "FO" means in FIFO…

    • Got the same thing. TBH, I think orders have been allocated and its the usual customer service responses.

I emailed them to see if I could get a early batch but somehow backfired.

Estimated Delivery Date on my Purchase Details: 19th Oct 2020
Ordered on 2nd Aug 2020 12pm, via Paypal with both discount codes.

This is the response I got from Dell with new date 25th Nov 2020, WTF?

    Greetings from Dell customer care!

This is in regards to your order XXXX for Dell 27 Gaming Monitor - S2721DGF .

Apologies for the delay in response to your request.

Please be informed that there is a stock constrain of S2721DGF Monitors due to which there is a lead time for delivery .

You order is expected to be fulfilled in the next stock on 25th of November.

We are trying to do our best to have the orders fulfilled at the earliest.

  • +4

I've just elected to cancel mine. Dell CS confirmed I wouldn't receive mine until October. I'm not waiting that long.

    • By the sounds of it, i'll be happy to get mine by/in October.

    • Sent a ticket yesterday and got a call back and email a few minutes ago, by confirming “ETA in the main hub in Australia will be on the 2nd of October for 800, post which a local carrier will be assigned for order delivery”, which is earlier than the first update which is 19th Oct, I think Dell is trying their best to get more stock recovered the order. BTW, I placed that order on 2/8 Sunday late night by CC at $507, good deal desire to wait…and for the people who worried about the transaction in credit account is abnormal like no pending or disappear, don’t worry Dell will charge you definitely lol

      • The email that I got said the next shipment is in September (no date, no unit numbers) and my delivery date is some time in October (no date)

  • How come there are no reviews for this monitor anywhere? Maybe I'm not looking hard enough so if someone can link one that'd be great.

  • -4

Just got a new email updating me on my order… Orders coming in end of August and my ETA got moved up from October to 9th of September? I hope I actually get it though but now I just highly doubt it.

    • +1

When did you order and what payment method did you use?

      • +1

my name is John Kimble and it's not a tumour!

      • I ordered on Sunday 3AM with Paypal. Payment didnt clear til 1 or 2 days ago.

    • LMAO I GOT NEGGED BUT GUESS WHAT. It did get delayed… 30th of September…

  • +3

In case anyone missed this option like me. Check your S2721DGF order and consider enabling Receive Text Notifications.

We'll notify you with updates to your order status. No marketing texts will be sent. For more info, read terms and conditions.

Today I missed a delivery for a different Dell monitor. I did not receive an email or text message indicating the item had shipped.

  • +2

Dell just took payment for both my monitors. They has previously had pre-auth for the money and it then re-appeared in my account and is now fully charged against my card.

Wondering if they have taken payment as some are saying they wont charge until they ship the items.

Both monitors show ETA of 19/10 when I track my order.

    • +2

Yep, they've also taken my money today (was in pending yesterday) and I got an email from Dell CC saying the order still had an ETA of 19/10. They also mentioned they were doing everything to get it to me sooner…XD

      • +1

        Ditto

        • +1

Payment went from pending to confirmed today too, Cbank

          • @kronk: I payed with PayPal. Money was taken from acc, then put back in the other day, now today money has been taken out again. Was hoping that means we get our screens soon. I don’t u der stand the need for all the withdrawing and depositing

            • @Roastyleg: My cc was also charged however I just received an update from customer service that 'our fulfilment team & vendors have instructed stocks are anticipated by October and no earlier than that.' :(

  • -2

My credit card has been charged yesterday, called the CS today, and have been told the card will be charged to hold the order, either to cancel the order to get the refund, or to wait 2 months to get the monitor. And they don't have any details of the shipment apart from what has indicated on order.I am not happy with the dell CS, was expecting dell CS is better though.

    • +3

What they hell did you expect? Its basic business practice

      • +1

I have been told by CC last week, the cc will be charged when the goods shipped out, but turns out I have to wait for 2-3 months to get the monitor. I am expecting the order status becomes shipped when the cc get charged. Now this is not what I have been told and expected.

        • +3

Nothing to do with your CC, they don't control that. It's normal across all industry it's either gets charged fully or gets put on hold, either way it means that the funds are spoken for and can't be used unless you issue a refund. Absolutely nothing new, your expectations were pretty wrong

      • +1

Many charge only just before shipping.

        • +1

Unlikely, they would hold the funds if they didn't straight out charge

    • I paid through paypal with a linked credit card. It no longer shows up as pending on my CC. Transaction is gone and I have 507 extra on my CC allowance as I paid it off straight away when I made the purchase.

Its still showing up as a transaction in PayPal though.

      • Same for me
