thanks mate knew id forget something

  • -3

I remember getting these entry level printers for around $50 on sale. Older models but still more or less the same. I guess thus has wifi

    • +8

you might be a bit confused - $50 entry level would be something like 23ppm and no duplex :) I am not saying this is a high end but apples w apples :)

      • +1

Right yes those are the ones

      • LASER…. not ink jet

        • +4

          LASER…. not ink jet

Maybe you missed them all, but entry level LASER printers were around the $50 range. e.g. this, this, and this.

          Inkjets were $23, $24, $19, and $15.

          • -2

@eug: Good work. yeah those are the ones I was thinking of. but you know the neg warriors have itchy fingers.

        • Paid AUD 39 for my Brother HL-2130. That was in 2012 though. The toners is where they make the money.

    • You pay more for printing back to back and wireless.

  • +5

i have have the slightly older version of this for maybe 9 years, it does what it says on the tin. Uses wifi so doesn't take up an ethernet port or you can put it in the cupboard away if you don't use it much. Saves paper with duplex. Cheap to run.

    • Same here. 2270 or something. Very cost effective when using generic toners and just works.

    • +1

My early version of this has also lasted a decade. It's just a super-reliable design, and Brother has been smart to keep it unchanged.

      • Cheaper toner than most.
      • Easy wifi connectivity.
      • Duplex.
      • No hassles.

Unless you need colour, this is an easy choice at this price.

  • +1

got other model with scan print copy feature? (and the scan must be able to do scan and send to email directly).?

    • f

    • +3

2395 is what you want. I got it 2 weeks ago from Officeworks, which is an exclusive from them at $214.

      • I wonder if the L2713DW can do the same. But has 50 page continuous scanning

        • The 2713 has fax and an automatic feeder for an extra $30.

          • @ozchobie: I meant the scan to email function

            • @pippohippo: Yes mine has it

              • @ozchobie: nice, thanks!

              • @ozchobie: thaks for confirming. not really need fax but wifi, kind of compact and scan to email is important.

                • @CyberMurning: The implementation is much better than HP's. I ditched my 2 year old HP printer even thought it's fully working ha!

                  • @ozchobie: i had fuji and hated it $150ish from aldi years ago.

                    one more, HL-L2395DW:
able to scan to USB stick drive (has USB female port on the front?)
also able to scan to network drive ie NAS?

                    • @CyberMurning: No usb.

The scan options are scan to pc, to other computers on the same network, to email and to cloud services (evernote, Dropbox, one drive, Google)

                      • @ozchobie: other computers on the same network -> this could be NAS

alright good enough will decide soon

  • Is ink for this cheap?

    • +5

Should be using toner not ink. Cheaper and faster per page than ink.

    • +3

yes, best brand for low cost printing :)

    • +1

I've got the model down from this. Uses toner. Lasts a while. The replacement oem toner isn't cheap, but I've used Ink Station for replacement toners that are cheap and work well. Had no issues.

  • +11

Brother is the king for low-cost replacement toners. My personal favourite is refilling the cartridges and resetting them to trick the printer into thinking it's a brand new one.

    • resetting them to trick the printer into thinking it's a brand new one.

anyone know if that can be done on a Canon MB2160? I have one thats hideous on ink use and cost of new ones - as I have 2 NEW cartridges I fitted, then removed when it was new - and now they wont work as it thinks they are used.

      • If that's an inkjet what you'll want to look for is a 'chip resetter' to suit the model of cartridge your printer takes. Each individual cartridge will have a chip embedded on it that has a page counter, a chip resetter just wipes that so the printer thinks it's back to zero and is therefore a new cartridge. I used one years ago when I was refilling Epson carts (they were one of the first to use embedded chips) and it worked most of the time. YMMV.

        • sweet will sus it out.

  • Disregard.

  • +2

    No scanning?

    • +5

Phone scanning is good enough for 99% of documents now. If you're scanning precious photos or something just go to Officeworks.

      • +6

Phone scanning works OK if everyone has perfect lighting, text on the scanned page isn't too small, and you're only scanning a couple of pages at a time.

There are lots of scenarios where an actual scanner would give much better results and be more practical than a phone.

    • See my comment above

  • A few negative reviews on Officeworks site, which make me hesitated…

    • I've had this printer for a few years. Never missed a beat. Never drops its wifi which is a problem ive had with every other printer. Just hit the print button on any device and its their almost instantly every time. Its just mono and the quality isn't amazing but if you want something to just print out pretty simple B+W documents then this is a great option imo.

      • Thank you. Can it be used as a scanner or photo copier as well?

        • No scanner or photocopier function built in. I have a second (inkjet colour) printer I only use for scanning, however 90% of the time it's just as easy to do this with your mobile and any number of apps. (You can also print to the phone with this printer)

I have the same model, which I bought perhaps a year and a half ago. For an unbiased opinion, I'm considering buying this printer again as part of this deal, as it's cheaper than purchasing a new drum (which officeworks sell for $150, and with this you also get half a toner cartridge).

          • @Abaddon: +1 for scanning from your phone. I use the scanner function via the evernote app which is downright magic.

          • @Abaddon: Thanks heaps for your advice!

    • There's so many negative reviews on every printer.

  • +1

No stock in Officeworks warehouse, will have to go in store to check, and no stores around me have it in stock :(

Anyone have any experiences with Mitronics? I don't mind the price, but they only have bank transfer as a payment option.

    • I was just about to buy it too, and saw bank transfer. Didn't know companies still had that as the only option in 2020! Too bad, would've pulled the trigger immediately.

  • +2

Just got a call from them, sold out. OzBargained!
Silly folks are trying to shut down the page and trying to process refunds.

  • Out of stock. Released by error.

  • These are out of stock and they are Cancelling orders

  • These are the best bang for buck printers you can get, I've rolled out hundreds of them at previous jobs and they are solid.

  • OOS Melbourne metro…

    • Wait hang on, what are you doing outside? =p

    Neg because wrong product listed?

Link from OP goes to page for a HL-L2305DW
Officeworks for that model is the same price @ $118
    https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/brother-wi…

Brother website says that HL-L2375DW is office works only
    https://www.brother.com.au/en/products/all-printers/printers…

    • They have changed the page, they definitely had the HL-L2375DW listed.

      • I got one from officeworks price matched, looks like Mitronics run out of stock and replaced the link with different model. Proof is in the final text of the link.

        • I just assumed they used the wrong link as the product is listed as exclusive to officeworks

          • +1

@CletusDB: fair assumption based on that, heres another store selling the same model though:

            https://audional.com/product/brother-wireless-mono-laser-pri…

$129 showing free shipping to Vic from QLD so im assuming free elsewhere. Still good for OW price match

            • @easeyas: Good if True, I know officeworks has very little stock

I'd be worried about getting the HL-L2350DW which is the model that goodguys etc get. A bit lower specs and lacks Ethernet

              • @CletusDB: The main difference between 2350 vs 2375 is that 2375 has ethernet connection, right?

            • @easeyas: just checked with local officeworks. Ozbargain has taken down the audional post, which I suspect is because OW complained. The staff there immediately said that was fraudulent.

              • +3

@Maq: I don't think OW complained. It's more likely the OzB mods thinking the audional website looked suspicious and took it down.

It looked suspicious to me when I first clicked on it - there's no ABN, no landline number, it's not a .com.au, the given address is a residential dwelling, and the .com was only registered yesterday to "Porkbun LLC". Under "shipping costs" in the terms and conditions, the only method available is UPS and it's quoted as $3/0.5lb.

                I'd say it's fradulent.

    • +4

negged you for negging 1st post poster.

(Clearly link is correct but product changed by shop)

      • I just assumed they used the wrong link as the product is listed as exclusive to officeworks

        • +1

So Revoke your neg vote as it isn't valid

          • @INFIDEL: Sure, still doubtful it was legit tho

            • +1

@CletusDB: Read the text of the link, it clearly has the correct model number in it.

            • +1

              @CletusDB: https://www.mitronicsofficesupply.com.au/BROTHER0HL-L2375DW

              • @INFIDEL: thank you!

              • @INFIDEL: I get it, I'm just saying if I had a www.hardlynormal.com/widget-rev2, but the product page had all the info of widget revision 1

I wouldn't purchase thinking I was getting getting a revision 2 widget just because of the web address

                • @CletusDB: You arrived late, the Deal model was sold out…

You clicked the Deal link to the sold out L2375DW which took you to a related available model L2305DW.

That model is no longer available, so the same link now takes us to a different model again, the HL-L2395DW which is available.

It's how the business directs sales away from unavailable to available models.

Not a reason for a neg vote!

  • +1

Thanks all some great info and posts, hope some of you got some OW pricematch love. As the deal seems to have ended can anyone advise how i mark the deal as sold out?

  • +2

Same model $129 showing FREE shipping to Vic from QLD

    https://audional.com/product/brother-wireless-mono-laser-pri…

    Useful for OW price match!

    • "Error establishing a database connection"

      • +1

buggy site, just got the same error looking through at other items. refreshed and all good tho

      • Now not a Deal - lack.of business info.

  • Make sure there's actually stock, I ordered the model below that (2350DW) in May from another vendor but Brother at the time had a factory shutdown due to Covid and I didn't receive it until July.

  • +1

$122.55 from OW via audional price match. Thanks!
(my 2365 has printed 13500 pages and is still going, though having a spare means it will probably never die).

  • was looking for printers that remained at Officeworks

Wait, are we experiencing the shortage of printers at the moment?

    • Officeworks have apparently sold out of many Brother printers and await stock coming into the distribution chain.

    • +1

Yeah, we were in May, and I would not be surprised if it was still ongoing. I got the Brother HL-L2395DW (which is like this + copy & scan) from Officeworks in late April, and was going to recommend it to someone in May, but then found it was out of stock everywhere in Sydney. It's now back at low stock in some stores. Made in the Phillipines, I think. I.e. increased demand with everyone doing WFH + likely overseas production problems/delays due to covid + potential issues with transport & logistics moving stock = shortages for some/many printers.

    • we even short of KFC what do you think of printer….

  • +ve for brother printer.

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/263

I bought mine from above post 13 years ago. It's still working, and still on its original toner; a very cost effective printer for infrequent use.
