[Preorder] Xbox Series X $399 ($329 with Level 4 EB World) ($749 without) When You Trade in Your Xbox One X @ EB Games

3455

I reckon this is an amazing deal.

Make sure you select click and collect on the website when you preorder to get this offer.

Preorders commence online on 22nd September

Alternatively, you can get the Series S version for $299 when you trade in your Xbox One S but no one would want a stovetop.

EB world is eligible for this offer so if you are on level 4, that’s $420 off the console price itself

Note: Confirmation from EB Games rep If you place an online preorder for collection in store, you don't have to trade in until release day. Which means you can secure this deal and still use your Xbox One X until release day.

  • Been trying to order since about 9:05, even restarted my PC, cleared browser cache tried different browsers. It won't take my money! . Seems like payment gateway overloaded for some, others the ebgames site just unresponsive.

Now I have another count down what seems to be a mid day launch ….

  • +1

Yep is BS I also logged in and clicked pre order at the end of the countdown, got stuck in a loop at the checkout, then cart emptied, if in cart it should hold for 10 minutes like the tickets for a movie. How do these companies not learn, pathetic.

    • They should have done it through ticketmaster where you're stuck in a queue until others buy it

      • Should have had a captcha or something to try block the bots… I suspect they got ransacked

  • +1

Ebgames caused me to miss out on the Microsoft stock as well. Never shopping with you idiots again.

  • Is the trade in offer value for the xbox one x only available if you're buying a Series X or can you just get it as credit and add it to your EB account for other purchases?

    • +1

Doesn't matter what you're trading towards, the trade values are valid until January 31

      • Okay cool, might try with another retailer then. Guess only Good Guys is left but they haven't said anything yet

  • +1

I got 2 from the microsoft website — one for me and another for a mate (wedding present)

Ebgames timed out for 20 mins
JB never let me go past the order screen
    Gamesman was sold out instantly

Man… these guys need to get their website load spike handing in order.

    • +1

That's a really nice wedding gift.

      • +6

Yeah, he's been a poor student for a long time and I thought it'd be nice for him to have something new and top of the line for once. Not sure his wife will love it so much but she can use it to watch netflix and maybe they can game together? lol

        • It is actually a great gift as it is game console and then media player all in one for their new home together.

  • +1

Feel free to scroll the twitter post of EBGames if you want some solidarity:
    https://twitter.com/EBGamesAus/status/1308167867876089856?s=…

    • Yeh, seems like not many ppl got one

  • +3

So now there is 14 consoles on eBay selling for $1000 plus
eBay can KMA allowing this to happen, but hey they don't care as they get 10% of every sale.

  • +1

I managed to get one on JB, though they're having issues, too.

I'm assuming this is the page to refresh on Amazon:

    https://www.amazon.com.au/Microsoft-Xbox-Series-X/dp/B0848T7…

    • Wonder when they'll open up pre orders

      • Amazon usually don't go live before 9am

        • Sweet, thought I missed out on Amazon. So they haven't gone live with pre-orders yet for the Series X?

          • +1

@merajaan: Nope, not yet. They were pretty late getting their PS5 page up, too.

          • @merajaan: Looks like it was already sold out.

Customer Rep has no idea when the pre orders will open up

            • @0FoxGiven: Looks it from their webpage but that can't be the case as no one on ozbargain reported getting one. I recall their PS5 preorder didn't go live until 11am or so maybe we will be alright

              • @merajaan: The link is no longer active

                • @0FoxGiven: Yep can't find series X console pages at all on Amazon

                  • @merajaan: Same, only happened 5 mins ago, maybe preparing or getting hammered with traffic and decided to pull it.

  • I have one in cart at MS but won't allow for me to pay, keep getting error.

  • +2

What didnt make sense is once you got booted and tried to log back in it would give a "password wrong" error. C'mon, the password isnt it wrong, it is you that is wrong, mans.

    • +4

Yeah, it has been a bit of a shit show. Will try again at 12 I suppose.

I'm mostly interested in the trade deal, otherwise there isn't any new title I'm dying to play that can't wait until Dec/Jan if it comes to it.

      • +1

You cannot trade anything on something you don't buy, so if EB thinks they're being cool about the Jan 32st deadline, well I can guarantee you there will not be another shipment that will fulfill our orders to get our trade in.

I rang EB games yesterday, they assured me there would be plenty of stock, that person should no longer be working there, I also rang last week to pre empt how to order and how the trade in would work, again you cannot trade in on something you cannot buy.

EB games you're losing business because you cannot support a simple business model of online or retail.

I'll take my business elsewhere from now on.

        • +1

Are they losing business though? It completely sold out…

          • @TightTerry: Sure they are when you cannot buy something from them and go else where, I guess you have not read the twitter feed?

  • +2

Who would of guessed EB would ***t the bed with a console launch….?

They are absolutely useless. Have a look at their Twitter page…. Would NOT want to be working as a CSR for them today.

    • Hi we sell games and consoles
Hi we cannot help you with your console purchase atm as our online business model cannot cope with fulfillment of what our core business is due to not be able to partner with an eCommerce entity but we will ensure you that item you do purchase from us will be charged at a premium rate.
Thanks for shopping with us and not making a purchase due to our inability to have an online presence.

In 2021 moving forward we will be selling more plastic toys rather than games.

  • +1

its going to be even worse later on today with everyone awake and waiting

    • And an even more limited supply

  • Bizzare, thought it would be easier to preorder the Series X on launch day than the PS5 but I guess not. Maybe Microsoft have less launch stock than even Sony?

    • Same, I would imagine the amount of Series X is much lower since Sony mentioned they have 10x the amount of console for PS5 launch compare to PS4. I guess Microsoft just didn't care as much?

      • Hard to say given noone releases numbers… but I actually thought demand would be higher for PS5 than Xbox.

    • I’d say the bigger issue is that everyone knew to preorder at 8 am and was ready unlike PS5 where it took a while for people to realise and order

  • +1

Well, if all comes to worse, I’m happy to swap my ps5 preorder with the xbox

  • I rang head office, they don't care, not interested in helping and say "go online"

    • +1

Lol I mean, what else were you expecting the reception at head office to say?

      • -5

Troll elsewhere kid, I am sharing my experiences.

        • Go stand outside the head office and start protesting

  • +3

Maybe a new marketing tactic by both Sony and MS

    • +1

Yep, i agree with you. Can't see the fuss everyone is making about holding the new console in hand on day one with no decent (exclusive) launch titles. I have a one X and would be happy to do a trade in but my world is not going to end either if i don't have the new console on day one.

      • I think lots of Xmas gifts for people too

      • PS: did not mean to Neg the "deal"

  • Kind of thankful I pre-ordered the PS5 on Amazon "just in case", I honestly thought there would have been less demand for the Series X ):

    • +1

I would have sworn the Xbox would be easier to get hold of in Aus. I think Microsoft's strategy of announcing the exact pre-order day and date ahead of time just had everyone (and their bots) ready to start hammering websites the moment it went live, and they were all gone more or less immediately.

      • They're lucky Halo Infinite was delayed, could only imagine the shitshow we would be having right now if it was a launch title still.

  • Was told by EB staff, PO gone in 45 secs…

    • po?

      • pre-orders :)

    • Figures, well I can't see anyway of getting anything and no business cares as they cannot help.
I would hate to be working as CS in EB games stores right now/

      • Explains a lot!

        Frickin bots….

      • I feel bad for my local EB Games, they weren't wanting to answer the phones on PS5 pre-order day as they were getting yelled at by people who missed out - today would be much worse.

        • Well the issue is they give bad info too, I rang them yesterday to ask how the whole affair would go, I was advised they would not sell out like the PS5, but here we are and now I have no intention of speaking to that person again.
Don't make stuff up to customers, it makes you look seriously stupid and inept

  • Regretted should have order with Telstra.

    • are they sold out too?, I just tried calling them and they hung up on me sending me some sms for some reason lol

      • +1

*yup sold out but you can preorder for wave 2 which I am not sure when is that date.

        • +2

HN showed wave 2 as 19 Nov or 22nd

          • +2

            @[Deactivated]: Wave: 1 Estimated Dispatch: 9 November 2020
            Wave: 2 Estimated Dispatch: 9 December 2020

            Just saw it on Telstra

            • +1

@luffyex2010: I tried getting a deal with Telstra, I don't have a plan with them at all so was wanting to pick up a sim only, I can't even do that ffs lol

              • +1

                @[Deactivated]: Try the store.

                • +1

                  @luffyex2010: You mean physical store?

EDIT tried a store and he was not wanting to help when I told him that there was no one to talk to about ordering a sim. He said what is it you want to talk about, I am pretty sure I just told him lol.

Oh well looks like I'll wait till there is enough Series X to go around, possibly cheaper too as deals always appear just before Xmas.

                  • +1

@[Deactivated]: Oh really…..well they are also known as Telstra the Arrogance. Try to call sales to see if they can set an account for you.

Promo on series x, well not with newly launched consoles. I expect the sales on older generation.

                    • @luffyex2010: Yeah that's exactly what I tried to do and it sends me an sms then hangs up on me, citing I am not important to deal with lol

  • +6

So the thing to keep in mind guys is that most of us didn't have a chance to begin with as people will have been using purchasing BOTs on EBGames… There are entire communities set up around this practice, and its why you are seeing all of these PS5's and XSX on ebay. The practice is normally used to purchase limited inventory sneakers and clothing, but the new nvidia cards as well as the new consoles are prime targets for these guys. I guarantee the most of the PS5's and XBX's went to a relatively small group of people/groups who will resell these things at a profit

    • Agreed - I think online payment systems will now adjust and add a captura or anti-bot related system ahead of final checkouts. Its the only way to defeat them.

  • +6

I hate that I got to the payment page at 8:01 and it literally kept having connection errors until sold out.

    • +1

I hate that I kept trying until everyone was effectively sold out.

      • AND the next fricking pre order timer started.

I think those who got stuck at "connection error" was effectively in the queue for the next shipment, which explains why it was still in cart but can't go to next screen.

  • -5

I hope EB go out of business and everyone in their web design/IT team never find employment again.

    • +1

Geez that’s a bit over the top. I mean, I didn’t get one either but don’t go bagging on the poor staff members. Spend your money on a waaahmburger or French cries or something

  • I missed out via EB as well - couldn't have done anything to be any faster which was annoying given i had hoped to trade in my xbox one x. Put a back up order in at Harvey Norman which was confirmed, but now getting texts saying that one will be delayed :/

Looks like i'll be upgrading to the 'next generation' next year….

    • well, if the PS5 PO is followed, that's what EB would do next. 31 Dec 2021 shipment or earlier, whichever comes last.

    • +1

      I hope you're trolling

    • Basically admitting that you were botting for it. The exact thing that made this a painful shit show.

  • +3

Yeah that's what bugs me. Like most people I spent 20 minutes trying to go through ebgames checkout process only to end up with nothing in the end while also losing out an opportunity to buy from the Microsoft store or JB

    • faxx… now the question is, would the second batch be the same… I am guessing it would…

      • Second batch will be worse

    • Yeah this is what screwed me.

  • What the hell happened.

    • My excuse: those damn people using BOTs.
      Reality: too slow, under-prepared.

  • +1

Amazon link doesn't work any more, can't find the console at all on their website

    • +1

Try this link. It's the Series X page with all games, accessories and, hopefully soon, consoles. Sorted price: high to low, so when the console pages go up they should be at the top of the list:

      https://www.amazon.com.au/s?i=videogames&bbn=4852676051&rh=n…

      • Seeing the average game price going up has led me to hold off on ordering anything until more previews (or reviews) come out.

      • Thanks mate, I now have a now page to refresh every second :)

    • yea you are right, did they mention the time at all? I have been refreshing since 8am…

    • You're right. https://www.amazon.com.au/Microsoft-Xbox-Series-X/dp/B0848T7…

It's taken down. Are they still gonna sell it through Amazon?
