    Yeah super nice deal IMHO.
Guess a 1tb card and controller would also work.

  • Trying to add my amex but it keeps on coming up as 'check expiry'. Anyone know if you still get the amex offer if you use PayPal? (With the amex being the payment method)

    • +1

You have to use Amex directly to get any Amex offer.

  • AMEX offer says online only at www.microsoft.com/en-au

    This Xbox is on www.xbox.com/en-au

    Are you sure it’ll work?

    • +3

yep, i just paid and i got an email from amex immediately
      GOOD TO GO
      - might cancel my bigw series s order now…

    • +1

I did not notice that difference, however it worked for me, received email from Amex for confirmation once I checked out

  • Also don’t forget cashback!

    • Damn!

    • damn the link didnt trigger the shopback/cashrewards button unlike going from microsoft front page

      Missed out

      • I missed out as well, it did not trigger the shopback/cashreward button

    • +2

For rrp, yes. For profit, unlikely due to stock being easier to get

      • -8

        all good. easy 80$ then.

    • +9

I'm just wondering. Why would any one pay RRP through Gumtree when they can go and buy it brand new from Microsoft for RRP any how.

      • +2

And as we all know, Gumtree attracts a lot of tyre kickers.

        • +1

Yeah it seems troublesome to risk it through Gumtree. I've heard about low lifes turning up to Gumtree sales only to run off with the goods without paying. You can be sure that they would be targeting these. It only takes one low life doing that and you've lost it.

          • +1

@hollykryten: yeah gumtree is pretty bad sometimes. I try to use facebook marketplace a lot more now.

            No profile pic no sale!

      • -1

thinking this will sell out fast. might not be as fast as ps5 though

      • -1

well i just got it today and sold it for 550$… i asked for 499$ and was contacted within 5 minutes for 550$ to take the ad off and reserve it for her.

  • Wow very nice!!

  • Wish I knew someone who was keen on buying one so I could get a discount controller for Rocket League haha

    • +2

Wait for Black Friday. Chances are the controllers will go on sale then too. You don't have to wait long.

Well at least the Xbox One controllers would be on sale. Maybe the Xbox Series X controllers too who knows. But the Xbox One controllers are compatible with the Xbox Series S & X.

    • I used the afterpay $10 off to get a controller from Big W for $79. Didn't think I'd see sales on it but I don't want an xbox series s anyways.

  • +1

Why would you get this over Series X?

    • +4

If you're poorer and can only afford $500. Or maybe you don't need true 4K gaming. That's the only reasons i can see why.

      • +2

Series S has a much smaller footprint too. Looks kinda good tbh.

      • +6

Or you don't have a 4K TV, yes we exist.

    • +2

smaller, only have a 1080p TV, casual gamer, second box for another room, for travel. Lots of reasons. I am going to get one for my family room, it only has a 1080p TV which I have zero plans to upgrade and it can second as a box that can travel with me to visit parents to ease the boredom.

      • Speaking of travel. They are already beginning to make travel cases for the Xbox Series S and X. That would come in handy for your Xbox Series S if you get one. This is an example (currently unavailable but it just means that it's in production). Carry it around in a travel case with a handle so much easier.

        • nice. Though given I have a series X already and it is pretty small I am thinking an S will probably fit comfortably in my laptop backpack.

      • This. Media player for parents when I'm not there, escape from parents when I am there. :)

    • Don’t need a disc drive.

  • So no Bluray/4k disc drive?

I guess I'll keep my Xbox One S for a little while longer… That feature was one of the reasons I bought the s in the first place.

Will be interesting to see how this plays out.

    Excellent deal though.

    • Correct, the Xbox Series S has no disc drive as it's an all digital console. It's comparable to the Xbox One S All Digital Edition in that regard.

The only way for you to upgrade and still have a disc drive is to buy the Xbox Series X. But that's $749. A lot more than what even the Xbox One X used to cost.

I went with the Series X but if I were looking to spend less, a second hand One X would be a much better choice than Series S.

    • Xbox Series S can still game at 1440p at 120 Hz (if you've got a display which can do 120 Hz). That's not bad for the average gamer.

    • This is bad advice…

The Xbox Series S is built on the RDNA2 architecture. If you went a Xbox One X over the Series S:
      * You don't get Raytracing
      * No SSD drive - Yes its smaller, but the game install size is smaller
      * No quick resume
      * You will not be able to play Xbox Series X/S games built on the new API within 2 years
      * Very few games at 60FPS and no games at 120FPS
      * The CPU is fast, in menu and with Backwards compatible games load times are significantly reduced

It's just really, really bad advice to be recommending the older generation consoles over the new ones. Though most would be better off with the Series X, the Series S will perform really well for 1080/1440p. It's not meant to be a 4k machine, don't compare it to those consoles. This is a great secondary, media, kids, travel console. For anything else get the Series X.

      • +1

Yep, agree. Although, a Xbox One X would be good for someone who hasn't played games for a while and wants the disc drive so they can pickup some cheap used games from the past 5 years (digital versions are always more expensive) and who has a 4k tv and maybe wants to watch 4k Bluray.

        • Yep, so long as the person knows they will not be able to get the new games within 2 years it's all good.

I'm keeping my Xbox One X for the kinect games the kids love and now have a Series X as the main console.

      • A lot of people wouldn't care for those new features or the "latest & greatest". Obviously next gen is technically better but my comment came from a cost vs. value perspective. This is ozbargain after all.

A One X is still good value at cheap second hand prices. Think secondary rooms, smaller screens or for kids, etc. They would still work well.

        • Yeah work well for a cheap 4K blu-ray player too.

        • What is a good second hand price?

  • I still don't understand who would buy a series s? it seems like a step back ”next”gen console with no disc drive and only less than 400G usable hard drive. considering games like call of duty will take about 250Gb storage after install. you would not even able to install another AAA game into the drive.

    • You can still store and play Xbox One, Xbox 360 or original Xbox games from an external portable hard drive on the Series S to play those games on it. So that can expand the storage for all Xbox One or previous generation games. That would include a lot of games the backwards compatible game library. So there you go.

At the moment with the 400GB of usable internal storage you only have to worry about native games for the Xbox One S as that requires the internal storage. But yeah that would only hold a few large games at the most. But there's a storage expansion card for the Xbox Series S & X. But at the moment it's not cheap. This is the 1TB storage expansion for it. It's $359.

      https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/seagate-xbox-series-x-sto…

      https://www.harveynorman.com.au/seagate-1tb-storage-expansio…

In my opinion you're better off going from the get go for the Series X. As to expand the storage on the Series S with the Seagate 1TB expansion card costs a small fortune. I bet a lot of people don't even realise that and it doesn't even come through their mind when purchasing an Xbox Series S. They will find out the hard way that their 400GB of usable space isn't good enough to hold many native Series S & X games. And get a shock how much it's going to cost to expand the storage for Series S & X games. They may have got away with 500GB of total space from their old Xbox One S console with the Xbox One games but not with the new very large Series S & X games they are going to be trying out.

  • I bought a preorder last month that was supposed to drop on the 20th from Harvey Norman, yet I could have bought one now and probably received it earlier? Ugghhhhh

  • Anyone had an update yet?

    • Mine has now been dispatched.

    • -1

yeah got it today via DHL.

Sold it for $550 (i listed it for $499, was asked to remove the post and offered $550)

Lol at the negs i got for selling this for RRP 499$… obviously many haven't been following the sales of ps5 and xboxs lately!

      $130 profit

      • +1

what do you mean was asked to remove? You mean by a buyer (sold, take down post, ill give you $550?) Why wouldnt they just give you $499??
Mine is due today - meant to get it yesterday but wasnt home.

        • -1

on fb marketplace you can put your listing on "pending".

Yea i did ask her "$550?" after i thought she meant $450.

I had 3 people msg me within 10 minutes of posting the ad.

          Seems like everywhere sold out.
