  • is that mean they will not honor for those who managed?

This is absolutely a GREAT deal and if … only if they have the Samsung Galaxy Note, it would be PERFECT!!!! LOL~

  • Do we know how many vouchers were available in total?

  • it's funny how I can't get through to AllPhones WA customer service on their number. It keeps looping back to the main menu and I ended up leaving a message for the reception. Dodgy Corp.

    • i think they r overloaded with calls. wouldnt say they are dodgy.

      • but at least there should be a hold queue, whereas this time, it's like they don't want to take any call from anyone.

    • +3

      LOL your id…

      • my id…?

        • i was calling them this morning - all the lines either loop or make you leave a message.
The only one that works is the sydney one, try that.

Also, let us know what they tell you thx

        • +2
        • oh, gotya :) now if only I was an actually rep from TIO :)

  • I own the code, but the code not working on me since 2 hours ago…No luck…

  • +5

Great - So now some dodgy site has a whole heap of email addresses that they can happily spam until the end of time and we didn't get a thing to show for it…

    • +2

Hurrah for free email services. Surely everyone here has already set up an alternative email address for deals like this?

      • Due to the nature of the deal ($200 off a brand new handset), I thought it would be worth seeing their deals in the future.

If I relegated it to my spam box, I would not see them as I get about 100 emails in there a day - and do not go through each and every one of them before deleting.

        • Ahh ok. The very nature of the deal - $200 off a brand new handset - made me suspicious as it seemed a bit too good to be true, which is why I used my spare gmail account instead of my regular email address. If it actually worked in the end, I could just resubscribe with my regular email address.

  • So, we give up or?

    • Yes, good idea. I told other people about the deal. None of them was interested (because they each have a smartphone already and they couldn't be bothered - probably expecting other OZB people will beat them to it). They are wiser than me.

They weren't disappointed. I wasted time and am a bit disappointed (but happy at the same time - saved some money - I don't need another phone).

  • This may be a long shot, but I hope someone did take a screen shots of the deal website and the T/C page. Anyone?

  • -3

you put the promo code before you fill in your details right? not working still, have waited for 1 hr~…

    • Hey mate, the deal is over. Codes will not work anymore, read the info below the promo code box.

  • +5

Yeah they will get a complaint to the ACCC from me.

Really seems like a stunt to get some traffic on their sites and harvest email addresses.

    • +1

Not until you have made a formal complaint to them and give them time to consider your resolution.

Make sure you take the proper steps and not waste ACCC's time or our tax payer dollars

  • -1

i think its time to call Maurice Blackburn or Slater and Gordon. I smell a Class Action in the air

  • Perhaps the whole thing was a publicity stunt from the "there is no such thing as bad publicity" school of thought?

Bet they wish they make ACA…. free advertising.

    • +1

But some people do have received the order confirmation from allphones.

      • +1

I received my confirmation, now just waiting for my phone

        • +1

Same here. But the confirmation is an automated email after placing order =\

  • -4

can get codes again. www.allamazingdeals.com is back up

    • nope, same spam competition page. Whoever owns that page gets $2.80 every time someone signs up.

      • at the end of the quiz it says:"Want a FREE $200 Allphones Discount Voucher*? Complete details below."
        http://lp2.ozgiveaways.com.au/pg6/

edit: but I have no idea if they are actually sending out codes (I skipped the quiz)

Contacted allphones.com.au, I attached the email from amazingdeals with the promo code as proof. This is what i received from allphones.

    Dear Customer,

Please be advised if your email is regarding Allamazingdeals.com this promotion is no longer available.

As per Allamazingdeals.com terms and conditions
AllPhones reservers the right to verigy the validity of use of the offer at any time. If there is (or AllPhones hasreason to believe that there has been) unauthorised use then the Offer is immediately withdrawn.

    • +2

      just saw on facebook:
      person:
"What is happening with the amazing deals discount coupons, will they ever be honoured or was it just shady advertising."

      allphones:
"The offer has been overwhelming this morning and we are honouring as many as our allocated stock allows"

      • +1

That was I. Also posted to their twitter account. I tried to get in and got locked out, came back here, emailed them, no response, only to see the message on the checkout again. I think this should be demonstrated to the companies, if you are gonna make a deal dont welch on it.

    • Reply saying

Please be advised if your email back regarding Allamazingdeals.com with such stupid cut n paste emails saying its not valid i will report you to the ACCC.

    • That automated response is BS. How is this unauthorised use?

  • A riot is brewing might get interesting … mob .. mob .. mob..

  • I'd also recommend commenting on allphones wall, it looks like either there was a breakdown in communication or Allphones didn't realise what they were getting into and pulles the promotion (i.e. groupon errors!). Allphones facebook has responded saying they have stock issues and thats why they pulled it, but I would guess that they have killed it due to popularity. I would say that allphones is just as much responsible as amazingdeals is with this promotion.

Also commented on twitter about it with a @ to their twitter but no reply, no email reply either.

All I can say is I'm not surprised, was gonna grab a Galaxy SII, but I might just wait till CES and see what gets announced. If its too good to be true, its either not or only for the few.

    • Allphones facebook has responded saying they have stock issues and thats why they pulled it

Not according to the automated e-mail from Allphones.

AllPhones reservers the right to verigy the validity of use of the offer at any time. If there is (or AllPhones hasreason to believe that there has been) unauthorised use then the Offer is immediately withdrawn.

      Allphones facebook is lying.

      • Well the voucher says "vaild until the 29th of Feb 2012" so I can wait for more stock :)

        Hey 29th?? Oh I see 2012 is leap year…

  • Guys got a reply from AllPhones

    Email Text:

    Has anyone got similar reply?

    • Are you getting this when you try to sign up?

Or are you getting this email AFTER you placed an order?

My order was placed and I haven't received this email.

Seems like it's a case of not planning a promotion well…The system should have limited the number of people who can get $200 vouchers. Oh well. Lesson learnt Amazing Deals/Allphones??

    • If you read a few pages here some received the same reply.

    • +1

You should reply back and say "That's all well and fine you can verigy all you want but where is my $200 discount??"

    • haha, insider leak

  • Is it worth sending an email with the code which I received around 10:30 this morning? It didn't work and I don't mind getting a new phone.

    • No, you just get the automated reply as quoted above. I doubt your email will be read by a human.

      • Reckon they're going through all the confirmed from first to last and once they sell enough phones to just keep them out of the red, they'll revoke other orders.

        • Ifs its automated, try the [email protected] account, probably just a dead account, but I didn't get a bounce or automated message when emailing there :D

  • +1

Just hassle them on FB.. More public haha

    • And twitter too, even more public (and searchable!)

  • +6

They should honour the discount for all vouchers that were already issued, it's not too much to ask.

  • +8

Just phoned the AllPhones NSW call centre, to see if I could order over the phone, given the web site troubles. Reporting what happened here, to save everyone else from doing the same.

Waited about 5 minutes in the queue, and the lady I spoke to knew about the codes as soon as I asked (which says to me it is an Allphones corporate promotion) and said: "They're not giving out any more new codes, and are fixing up the website now. For any orders or inquiries please email [email protected] , and include your code, so that they know that you already have a code." (she emphasized the including a code twice … so it makes wonder if that means that people who already have a code will have it honored).

Then she said: "They should get back to you in 24 to 48 hours, once they have decided what to do." I then asked for clarification as to what "deciding what to do" meant, and said that made me wonder whether they were intending on honoring the codes, and she said "I don't know, that's not my area, unfortunately it is handled by another team."

So reading between the lines, they may or may not honor the codes, but this confirms it was an intentional known genuine corporate promotion, so really I think they should.

    • Thanks

    • +1

      Good job.
If they don't, you'd have to ask yourself if they were even vaguely serious about this promotion from the start. They would have defined the number of codes at the start with Allamazingdeals.com.

DEFINITELY need to publicly push the point on Twitter and Facebook and hopefully they will honor the codes that have already been issued/

Would be publicity disaster/bastards act if the did not.

    • I emailed them with original email from amazingdeals (promo code included) attached. That's when I got the foretold BS automated response.

    • Thanks, I forwarded the code email to them to get them to help.

It may have been that someone just worked out the codes and took up all the numbers.

There is a difference between bargaining and deceipt, so i think the person who posted the hack here should have a little holiday (ban) for a while.

  • I got the code…I sent an email but they refused saying the following msg

    Dear Customer,

Unfortunately this offer is no longer available and we are unable to apply the promotional code to your purchase.

In the All Amazing Deals terms and conditions it states:

“13. AllAmazingDeals.com.au and All Phones reserve the right to remove or amend the voucher offer at any time.”

Should you have any further questions or queries, please do not hesitate to contact customer service on 13 8000.

    Many thanks in advanced.

    • +1

      Yup…just got the same message.

      Let Occupy Allphones begin Men!

    • same here

  • +5

It's too early to tell whether this was a genuine offer.

Assuming that it was then one can speculate that one of the reasons it was pulled could be due to many people exploiting the weaknesses of the checkout system in entering discount codes that they haven't received, or trying to purchases phones that cost less than the minimum $300 as stated clearly in the terms & conditions of the offer. To be fair, Allphones are well within their rights to pulled the offer given such widespread abuse of their system.

No doubt they will learn their lesson and tighten the checks on their system and may be on all existing orders as well. But whether they will honour the discount codes that had been issued after that remains to be seen.

Now is there a lesson for OzBargainers in this too? Your thoughts?

    • +2

My thoughts are that they can fix this fiasco by honoring the legitimate codes that were issued.
By email is fine with me.

All other "solutions" will aggravate people. Specially me :P

      • +1

        so a 95c order won't go through? :D

I thought.. that if the seller:
        1. displays a price
        2. buyer agrees and makes order
        3. seller accepts payment and goes into binding contract…

So this system automatically processes the payment, they do not have a TOS, therefore it should be valid no?
The money is gone from my bank to theirs already…

    • +8

They should absolutely reject any attempts to buy a phone costing less than $300, that was clearly stated up front. I have no sympathy whatsoever with people who do this.

However, my wife and I were trying to buy phones, using our own separate valid codes, and both phones were more than $300, and indeed were 2 of the phones explicitly listed in the OzB description. We have fully complied in every possible way with this offer, and were genuine in our behavior and intent to purchase.

So no, I don't think there is a lesson for us here, other than what it tells us about Allphones.

    • Agreed but ceebs retyping what I said earlier - Earlier Post

edit - that link works better than I had ever hoped for!

      • +10

        @Domingo
I'm in agreement with you on this.

        @nickj
I understand that both of you are frustrated when you did nothing wrong. Under the terms of the voucher it says:

Promotional codes are non-transferable – they may only be used by the person to whom they are issued and must only be used in accordance with these terms and conditions.
Allphones reserves the right to verify the validity of use of the Offer at any time. If there is (or Allphones has reason to believe that there has been) unauthorised use then the Offer is immediately withdrawn.

Clearly, in this case Allphones did have plenty of evidence of unauthorised use, and when the offer was withdrawn immediately it would affect both the offenders and the innocents.

Hence, I think the lesson for OzBargainers is not to abuse an offer and ruin it for everyone else who comes after you.

        • +5

          +++ to the last sentence.

        • +4

Yeah as if that's going to happen. There's an endless list of greedy, unethical types here that operate purely on self interest. It's only the stupid ones that come back and brag about it.

  • +12

    Allphones sucks

  • +6

The Wrath of OzBargain is a horrifying thing…

    All Amazing Deals Promotion
Allphones is in the currently processing the transactions that used the All Amazing Deals codes prior to the offer ending. Of the hundreds and hundreds received thus far we are sorting through the entries. Many codes had been used more than once and thus illegitimate, however all codes that are legitimate and entered before the end of offer will be honoured. (For terms & conditions regarding the offer, which state that the offer could be removed at any time, please visit the All Amazing Deals site.)

    Off their Facebook.

    • Looks promising…but what about people that have a legitimate code but have not used it yet, I wonder.

      • I'd say those people are unfortunately out of luck. And as promising as this sounds, what happens to people who used a legitimate code once, but someone else came and used their code illegitimately. That will suck.

  • +1

In short, only honoring the payments processed, not the unused vouchers taken while the offer was STILL VALID

    now we give them hell!

    • Wow what a screw up by allphones and their promoters.

  • +7

wat the hell! code valid til Feb next year and expired on the 1st day ! you suck ALLPHONES !

    • yeah, strange promotion - it ended up being like a bad day on catch of day 1 hour special

good luck to those that scored $200. I did not have such luck - the deal expired while I was researching the phone that I wanted even though I had a code.

  • Okay people, for slamming Allphones on:
    * twitter, be sure to use @allphones and #brokenpromises in your tweets.
    * facebook, head to http://www.facebook.com/AllphonesOfficial?sk=wall and make your feelings heard.

      ^don't do this

      it's plain stupid

    latest update from facebook:

    Allphones Official Site
All Amazing Deals will unsubscribe all entries that did not receive a voucher before the promotion ended. The terms of the promotion clearly stated that Allphones could remove the offer at any time. All legitimate codes used prior to the promotion ceasing will honoured. All Amazing Deals will reply to all those that received codes for exchange of the consumers email contact details and will unsubscribe. Congratulations to those that received the $200 discount offer.

  • They're definitely reneging on the deal :(

    Dear Customer,

Unfortunately this offer is no longer available and we are unable to apply the promotional code to your purchase.

In the All Amazing Deals terms and conditions it states:

“13. AllAmazingDeals.com.au and All Phones reserve the right to remove or amend the voucher offer at any time.”

Should you have any further questions or queries, please do not hesitate to contact customer service on 13 8000.

    Many thanks in advanced.

  • Surely they can't get away with it so easy?

    • +3

well it does clearly say that they can withdraw the offer in the t&c.

On the upside, they are honouring the deal for whoever managed to pay for it.

Save your anger for allamazingdeals, whoever programmed the +500 serial number, and everyone who exploited the deal instead.

  • +1

They are trying to slime out of this.

I'd say once they have sifted through any illegitimate claims they should honor the people who hold legitimate codes "valid until 29th of February 2012"
They would have set a definite number of codes with Allamazing deals… they wont have used them all, so why should the holders of legitimate codes be punished???

    Total Cluster fork.

My opinion of All phones has gone from "hell yeah" to "FFFF no, never again" in a few hours.

    • +1

because their it dept is so incompetent that they did not issue unique voucher codes. And people have already exploited this/signed up to get multiple codes when they realised their last code didn't work.

once the system has been screwed there is no way they can go through and identify who legitamately got vouchers, and who didn't.

Even if you email them your voucher from the email address you received it at, there is no guarantee that it hasn't already been used.

      • I was just going to say the same thing. It's not hard to set up unique codes at all, which makes me think that they had this planned all along. They run this promotion and "honor" a few codes to get in traffic and cheap publicity, and then stop the promotion under the pretext of "This promotion is now over because people have been dodgy".
They surely have got their "cheap" publicity.

        • Judging by how many people from ozbargain successfully bought the phones i would say they would be honouring quite a few of these codes.

        • No, you have not yet bought the phone. You have only placed and paid for an order. AP can simply cancel your order and refund the money.

Going by their claim of unauthorised use of codes, they would be dishonouring quite a few of these orders.

        • +3

Planned all along? Seriously, you think someone planned this? Because they're getting such great publicity from it now??

Given the choice between conspiracy and incompetence, I'll pick incompetence every time.

      • Well my wife and I both have unique codes (different numerical codes) that must be associated with our email addresses at Allamazingdeals.

Would be basic to verify (if they wanted to)

        • +1

depending on the volume, they could make everyone who bought a phone using the code forward them the email they received with the code.

Then after they weed out the illegitimatee codes they could reinstate the rest of the vouchers.

      • you are absolutely right.

  • +5

Welp, I'll never shop at allphones again.. Reneg on a deal, you lose a customer..

  • +5

I have been informed that some people personally feel the promotion was misleading or deceptive by Allphones and/or the promoter.

The following is general information gathered from the web and makes no representations to this website or anyone from this website and makes no allegations: Please see the links to the New South Wales Law to make your own assumptions…

is intended or apparently intended by the licensee to promote the sale or lease of any property, and
is materially false, misleading or deceptive (whether to the licensee’s knowledge or not).

    A statement is published if:

Penalties apply for breaches of the provision of section 51 of the Property, Stock and Business Agents Act 2002. The maximum penalty is 200 penalty units – presently $22,000.

Sending an email out informing customers that a promotion has ended much earlier than the agreed date from a LEGAL perspective may NOT an excuse in the eyes of the law even if in writing.

Having a clause stating that a coupon may be terminated early without specific legal reason, may NOT be a legal excuse in the eyes of the law even if in writing.

LAW and LEGISLATION overrules clauses in a contract, if those clauses are NOT legal and can not be LEGALLY enforced.

In regards to bait advertising according to the government (NSW Department of Fair Trading):

Advertisements can be factual, sometimes annoying and occasionally funny. In a busy world, they are all jostling for our attention. But the law demands they share one important characteristic. They must not be misleading or deceptive.

When it comes to deceptive advertising, a scam called ‘bait and switch’ takes the cake. Unscrupulous traders entice customers into their stores by advertising goods at very low prices but only have a handful of the sale items in stock. When the advertised goods quickly sell out, customers are steered towards higher priced stock or lower quality goods.

It's unfair, it’s deceptive – and it’s illegal. Retailers must make sure that reasonable supplies of the product are available during sales. What is ‘reasonable’ will depend upon the type of product, the terms of the sales advertising and the previous sales experience of the trader.

    Make your own assumptions.

    • who do we complain about, allphones, or allamazingdeals?

      • +4

You really think anyone would actually care? Those that got the codes and redeemed them, got $200 off.. the rest of us, get scammed out of our personal details.. Question really is.. will you ever be a future customer of allphones?
