Lots and lots of people will sell them sealed - those who got for free with pre order but don't want. Happens every time with these preorder deals.

  • -2

Will wait and see if they have finally ditched Bixby before buying…

    • +1

You do know bixby can be disabled…

      • +1

You can hot key bixby button to some another function is most devices.

      • +1

        yeah, since the SGS8 days

      • +3

It's like my neighbours dog, you can chain it up but somehow it still always manages to be a nuisance

        • Nuisance how? I'll wait with my extra large bag of ozbargained popcorn

      • -1

He's some Apple user that hasn't properly played with a Samsung since the S8 days and just posting here to get attention

        • Been using Samsung phones for over 7 years, just saying I don't like Bixby. You need to chill dude

    • I have an s20 and don't think I've even seen bixby once… The bixby button is long gone. Don't know why you are so concerned with it…

But yes, I think it's dying a slow death, as most predicted when it launched.

  • -5

samsung design feature easy to break glass, so you have to replace your phone sooner, nice play Samsung.

    • +1

The back is now plastic. Harder to break now.

      • Only on the lower model

        • +1

Id prefer plastic tbh. Broken my glass back too many times.

  • -4

Australia gets exynos. No thank you.

    • +13

I'm surprised it took so long lol

    • +12

New Exynos is apparently a hell of a lot better. Will wait for testing to come out to confirm but on paper it's a better CPU in terms of specs. Early suggestions are that battery life is greatly improved also.

    • +5

Shouldn't be too much difference this year 🤞, it's based of the ARM standard much the same as the snapdragon.

I understand your apprehension based on the last few Exynos though, wait for the reviews, but I wouldn't be writing it off straight away based on that.

      • -2

No difference in CPU wise but for gaining the Andreno 660 will be better. Not to mention all game developers will optimise for Snapdragon over Exynos

        • Might be negged because what you say isn't entirely true.

However, the GPU portion is a major difference between Snapdragon and Exynos.

          • @skid: Yeah he's probably not entirely wrong, I just think the GPU performance is more than good enough in any mid-range and up chip these days that the difference between the GPU performance on these two flagships is of little concern for most people.

            *I didn't neg him.

    • +3

Its diff now but I would still HODL until Note comes out later this year as it may be the Exynos with AMD in it. Though if you cant wait then go for it in 2 or so months when it drops 30% or so

      • There may be no NOTE this year, as S21 (Ultra) supports S-PEN

        • +1

y'all don't say that and it wont happen lol….

but facts as the fold might take over the whole 2nd part of the year ….

which is cool but its going to break a lot of Note fan hearts in the process….

but im currently very happy with my Oppo find X2 and will make up my mind after solid reviews come out.

Either my man SAF on SUPER SAF or Xtech or Mrwhoistheboss on Youtube and some research of my own on GSMarena

  • +4

Screen sizes of the S21+ and Ultra are just too big for my liking, not to mention the weight of the Ultra as well. Wont go well with office work pants.

    • -1

Perhaps they'll start selling Samsung suspenders/work belt to assist.

  • I just cracked the digitizer on my Note 10+. Got quoted for $490 to repair or $480 to exit contract and get a new phone. What do you guys think is the best option?

  • Nice deal, hopefully the S21 doesn't have the annoying Google mesh wifi bug that the S20 has.

    https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/Galaxy-S20/Google-locati…

Been waiting months for Samsung to fix this on the S20.

  • +1

Awesome cheaper than s20 at launch

  • Did you mean "however exclusives are 4 weeks delay"

  • +3

That Phantom Black S21 be looking fine though

  • +2

No Charger Exynos processor, No Thanks

    • +4

The new Exynos 2100 has dropped the Samsung Mongoose (or whatever they were called) cores and gone pure Coretex, like the Snapdragon. Differences are likely to be less than previous years, but still prudent to wait for reviews to confirm this.

    • Yep traditionally not a fan of Exynos, will wait for others to guinea pig before even considering it. Been happy with SD835 on Note 8 and SD865 on the Poco F2 pro.

  • +5

Sh*tty colours on the ultra vs the plus version? Samsung trying to justify the s21 plus since it's the worst value of the bunch. No SD card to boot aswell.

Samsung is surely adopting the "polishing a turd rolling down a hill" approach, just like how their latest tv are somehow worst that models 2 years ago.

    • Conservative colours for the Ultra, maybe they're the most popular colours?

    • I can't understand why they don't include colourful phone on top model. Same with other brands. If you want top model, you have to stick with Black or silver.
Wonder is it cost extra just to add colour to top end phone ?

      • +1

The online store has 3 extra colours to choose from. Not that they're anything exciting but still.

  • +7

I can't seem to part myself with my microSD card slot. I've been using one since the original galaxy S.

  • +14

Surprised they haven't learnt from their past mistake and removed micro SD. That's a deal breaker for me

    • It was one of their key selling points. This will burn them just like it did with the Galaxy S6…….actually it did end up burning them, in the form of the Galaxy S7. Karma is a bi-atch.

  • Currently using an S10+ 128GB, never had an issue with memory capacity.

Having skipped the S20 and this decent launch price, what's everyone's views on upgrading?

Seems like the price will further dip based on the forum comments?

    • +1

      wait for 30% off

    • +1

I have the S10+ also and see no reason to upgrade at this point in time. I use my phone as an emulator and would only upgrade it to ditch this terrible exynos chip in favour of snapdragon. Will wait for real world comparisons on new exynos before I consider upgrading.

    • The faster these phones come out the higher the diminishing returns on the technology.

  • I have logged in my Samsung edu account but cant see S21?

  • Any idea how much the s pen case is?

Apple isn't the only other option though… If you don't care about hardware

        • +1

Oh I agree absolutely :) I just made the assumption based on market share.

        • +2

on Samsungs you can uninstall these using adb (without root)

          • +1

@silenthillrocks: Im still stumped as to why Samsung dont allow users to uninstall their apps. If I prefer Google Calendar (which I do) it means I have to live with 2 calendar apps. Tried that with the Note 4, hated it to hell and back.

            • @Trishool: Their assumption is that since you bought a samsung you like their apps. Pixel is better if you like google apps.

But its not too hard to disable some and then uninstall the rest using adb.

              • @silenthillrocks: The problem with disabling an app is that they are enabled again if you restart your phone. Might give ADB a crack though, thanks.

      • On iPhone you can install most stock apps, and some of your app choices don't make sense because some of them are essential apps like settings, messages, App Store and phone…

    • +1

      What are you moving to?

      • waiting for the Mi-10 Ultra ?

  • +1

Anyone else having trouble checking out? I get there, go to payment and then because its added the wireless charger which says 'out of stock', it won't compete and keeps re-adding the wireless charger to my cart which prevents me checking out. Round and round we go

  • whoever —> however?

  • +2

The price. I know we're all different etc but aren't these prices getting out of control? I understand there's some great tech in there but I find it hard to justify spending so much on a phone.

    • +1
      • +4

but this year there's no more charger and earphones though

    • +3

I agree with you. Sadly not everyone tho. Most people still commit to buy whatever price it is.
Since galaxy note 10+ , the price is over $1300 ,I thought to myself Id never buy over$1000 phone but I guess it is the trend now.
If you want top end phone, then it has to be $1500 over .

      • +1

Just seems phones are pushing closer to $2k and that is normalising $1k phones. Used to be $1k was expensive with sub $1k phones being the rage.

  • +2

My S9+ is still going great. The 21 seems worse than the 20?

    • I'm on the same boat. I was wanting to upgrade to S21+ (just because) but now tossing if I should wait hold out with the S9+ (nothing wrong with it other than normal degrading battery) or bite the bullet with the S21+ or Ultra

  • here for the Exynos comments

  • +5

    No SD card? blurg

  • +2

damn no more charger brick. Why follow apple with this?

    • saves them money.

  • Any smart techo here to educate me about snapdragon 888 vs Equinox 2100 comparison?
Also S21 Ultra vs iPhone 12 pro max technology and performance?

    • Wait for real world comparisons. Exynos always looks good on paper.

  • Wait for Oppk X 2021

  • +1

People still surprise with " no SD card" or "no 3.5 jack" ? Isn't it the new normal now for Samsung and iPhone ?
What I find astounding stupid is No charger. And not even cheap protective case anymore. The $1500+ phone only has cable and Sim pin . And that the new normal again?

    • +2

      No SD card slot
      No 3.5" jack
      No charger
      No QHD screens

The list of features being removed is amazing, and lucky for us customers, we get to pay the same price (or more) than the previous versions for this added benefit.

  • +1

Why would Samsung drop their QHD on the s21 and s21+ and take a step backwards and only offer 1080p?

Calling battery constraints is a lol because the s20 can barely do it (QHD + 120hz) due to battery. Barely as in I wouldn't run those spec for every day use - otherwise I would have to be conscious of battery power
    - with the assumption the battery had gotten better between the s20 and s21, I dont see a reason for them to only release a 1080p screen…

    Samsung why would you:
    - removing the sd card slot,
    - 1080p screens
    - and (from what we know so far) an underclocked cpu (not even looking at the snapdragon because au)

Don't waste you're money on an s21 or s21+ unless you have very a specific reason to buy. Honestly if you need a phone this gen, just grab an s20(or any other cheaper one) and hold till next gen or a better phone (an unannounced 2021 release)

    Edit: changed s20 to s21

    • Improved camera tech is what usually drives my desire to trade up. Samsung does an outstanding job on their flagship screens regardless of the resolution.

      • Yes, that is a valid need to upgrade :)

"Samsung does an outstanding job on their flagship screens regardless of the resolution."
my reply: While that is fair, besides cost cutting - there isnt another reason that I can think of, to remove the option for QHD vs FHD. s21+ with FHD instead of QHD is like why.. I can more so understand the base s21 just because of hdware specs
Samsung basically led the way of flagships having QHD

The other things the s21 has as an advantage is a lot better battery life
        - one interesting reason for this is a variable refresh rate (theyve got some fancy name) but it basically doesnt operate at 120hz 24/7

Note: this advice is only for s21, s21+ and not the ultra variant

another note: the s20+ has 12gb of ram and the s21+ has 8gb of ram… so make of that what you will

    • +3

The S20 series didn't sell as well as Samsung were expecting. It was priced too high compared to what you were getting.

The S21 has cut features like the micro sd slot, 1440p screen, 12GB RAM, larger internal storage options and lowered the price.

      • s20 AU$1349
        https://www.pcworld.idg.com.au/article/670829/here-how-much-…

        S21 AU$1249
        https://puu.sh/H705j/87daec66c2.png

(i didnt look too hard for the prices so feel free to correct me, ill link the sources)

100$ cheaper and you lose features like the micro sd slot, 1440p screen, 12GB RAM (down to 8gb)

Again, unless you have a specific need, this isn't an obviously better phone/next gen upgrade…

I can understand the parts being dropped on the base s21 - but it really should have been dropped on the s21+ - which can make use of the resolution and ram

        • +1

I'd like a S21 sized screen with the S21 Ultra camera and battery (thicker phone would be fine), 1440p screen with variable refresh, 4GB RAM (plenty), 64GB or 128GB internal storage (plenty as it's used for storing apps and kernel only), micro sd slot to accept 1TB cards (for storing media), 5G antenna, Wifi6, in black, no S-Pen, no headphone jack for the S21 price.

          • @skid: dream combination that, would love that too.

    • +1

I may be mistaken, but isn't the S20 restricted to either 1080p120 or 1440p60?i.e. not 1440p120?
Underclocked… incorrect. Exynos 2100 has higher clock speed than SD888 (same cores). And should be much better than Exynos 990.
      Exynos 2100 (vs SD888)
      1 x ARM Cortex-X1 at 2.9 GHz (vs 2.84 GHz)
      3 x ARM Cortex-A78 at 2.8 GHz (vs 2.4 GHz)
      4 x ARM Cortex-A55 at 2.2 GHz (vs 1.8 GHz)

Adaptive display (48-120 Hz) should have a decent impact on improving battery life further.

      • +2

No, after the first few months it had changed

On release, it was 100% locked

        • +1

          Thank you, appreciate the clarification!

      • Also underclocked doesnt mean im comparing it to the s20… I just mean the cpu is lacking to what it can do, and will probably be able to do on release. Most people that have got their hands on one have stated that it doesnt live up to their " 30% boost to multi-core performance" - but have also noted the cpu itself is umm i ceebs looking up the buzzwords - but basically using less power and producing less heat which in return means the cpu should actually be able to perform better than the very very limited hands on examples we have

I probably could have wrote it better.. but I meant in the original thread that the cpu isnt bad but at the same time it isnt really a selling point because we need some real world tests

    • +1

Yeah I'm in need of an upgrade now. Currently on Pixel 2 but the S21 doesn't seem appealing she to Exynos so kind of agreeing with you that S20 FE 5g seems like a better buy than S21. (I don't care about the better cameras in S21)

    • +2

It's a samsung tactic of dropping features to push you to the top model.

They've been doing the same with their TV's for a while now. Where the 1-2 year old RU models are better than the current TU models.

  • Anyone want to help me out with a .edu address 💔😩

  • +2

S20 FE 5G black friday deal makes this look inferior. No SD Card… Exynos, no charger, less attractive price. Happy I bought the S20 FE !

    • +1

Any touch screen issues? And did you get the 8GB RAM model or 6GB RAM?
