Nah, I just use my main account. Been doing it with India since the beginning

      •

Just wondering did you have a youtube premium sub previously when you started the India subscription?

        •

Wondering this too. Thinking should I change or just get it on a sub account and pause main account with AU subscription.

      •

Did you just change the address on your main account?

    •

So, set up a second google account with family membership? I didn't think you could have family members in different countries with google?

    •

What's the point? Google will link your accounts if you logged in with same device. Unless you use a dedicated device for Youtube, Google can trace.

  •

Anyone know how to switch to a Family membership from an Individual?

Tried following the instructions below, but I don't see the "Get family plan" or "upgrade" options?

    https://support.google.com/families/answer/7507744/mag-set-u...

    •

      I'm looking for the same

    •

Are you on Google apps account. If so it will not work.

      •

        No I'm not.

Am guessing I might be able to deactivate / cancel my current membership, then re-sub as a family?

It’s working fine only iPhone and YouTube but my missus phone google play store is stuck on India (so couldn’t access some apps, specifically the cookidoo app).. had to remove her from my account and she just puts up with ads now.

Good price if you can get it to work. When the original India deal happened it took a LOT of stuffing around but it’s very worth it.

    •

Try adding her back now after removing. It worked with my secondary account.

Hope Disney+ can do this trick too

Just go in with fellow ozbargainers. Single slot works out to $30 for 1 year. No VPN shenanigans.

Long time Indian account user here. My most used monthly subscription by far.

Thought about moving to Argentina, but is it worth risking it for $10 a year saving? Probably not when we're already on such a good thing.

  •

Do local regular Mastercard or Visa cards work with this? In the past, it has kept failing for me at the payment stage.

    • +1 vote

It failed with a local prepaid masteracrd.

I'm surprised people pay for anything on here, can't you use Kodi? I thought people stream everyone aka Netflix, Apple, Disney. I do watch YouTube on my TV, and the ads are annoying. I feel like I watch more ads in an hour than network TV, so subscription would probably be worth it for that alone.

      Que?

      So… why are you surprised?

  •

Anyone aware of a similar loophole but for Google Photos (now that it's no longer "unlimited")?

    •

Apparently you can use Turkey and the largest plan is like 44aud a year. I've tried to sign up but there is no vpn that actually works, some of them still give me the price in AUD and others in KOR

  •

Anything similar way for netflix? Or to get us netflix series in Australia?

  •

I’m paying $3.39 for family plan for last 1 year or so through India and it’s still going without any issue.

How to change it to this one to save for a bargain 😜😜

I just use YouTube Vanced on android, and brave (adblocked browser).
    Simply NO APPLE, NO PROBLEM

  • +1 vote

I can confirm this works great plus it’s actually satisfying to see only 1.62 come out for premium lol

  •

    Legend. Easy as!

  • +1 vote

Besides no adds, can someone explain to me what the benefit of premium is please

    • +3 votes

      Download offline music.

      • +3 votes

It's the ads, which is why I pay for it. You can block ads on phone or computer reasonably easy (maybe not if you have iphone) but on tv and via chromecast not so easy, also need premium for no ads on google music

    • +3 votes

YouTube music and YouTube when switched apps or locked phone

    • +2 votes

It's really just the ad-free YouTube and Music for up to 6 people, you can't turn off ads on TV otherwise and now days ad based YouTube is unbearable

    • +2 votes

      Includes a YouTube Music sub.

    • +1 vote

Thanks to everyone who replied, so if i have this right, it includes Youtube (video) and Music subs with no ads?
Think there some value there that ive missed previously

Thank you, my stupid 18 y/o @ss was really about to pay $7 for a single membership…

  •

I have the premium subscription via india vpn…a qq if someone can help…i plan to move to a family plan from the current single subscription…will i have to cancel the existing sub and go for the family one or can i just upgrade? im wondering if my account may get flagged and then google cancels my sub! Not sure if this is a possibility.

    • +1 vote

I just cancelled my India premium subscription, and then follow the instructions for the Argentine subscription for family plan using the same email. All good.

  •

Will this also work for Google photos or Google one?

    • +1 vote

No, this is just for YouTube Premium and doesn't give you anything else across Google

  •

Trying to connect via surfshark VPN, says Premium not available in my country, #sadface

    • +3 votes

Install Hola Vpn from chrome extension. Just tried it and it worked.

      • +1 vote

Can confirm that surfshark VPN does not work (probably due to it being a virtual connection) but the HolaVPN chrome extension does work. Note you have to go into settings to get the Hola to work in Incognito. Thanks Sandy180 and OP.

        •

A virtual connection, making up words?

    •

      Tunnel bear works too.

      •

Yes, worked in the first instance.

      •

YES Use Tunnel Bear! Just make sure you complete registration before you surf anything else Tunnel Bear is limited download.

If you have an android TV there is an open source alternative for youtube app with the features of Premium Subcription called SmartTubeNext.
Im not going to post any links, just google "github smarttubenext"

Last time I did this I could only get the cheapest price via a desktop browser and not on mobile. Great deal though.

  •

I'm already on a full price AUD plan - if I cancel and activate this one, will I have any issues?

    •

Interested in knowing the answer to this too.

      • +1 vote

        I did it, no issues

    • +1 vote

      No issues for me.

Just imagine you moved to Argentina

I keep trying to imagine but covid keeps stopping me.

  •

I am currently using Vanced YouTube, so i don't see the benefit of this subscription… if anyone has any google photos alternative, please let me know since it's now using the 15gb storage even in saver mode!

    • +1 vote

Streaming from Vanced to the TV brings back ads. The worst are the ads mid video. I'm considering it just so I dont have to cop all the ads.

    •

Also using vanced, I'm sure there are other benefits to YouTube premium but I don't even use it enough to care.

  •

Lots of comments here about blocking ads.

Are AdGuard DNS servers failing to block youtube ads network wide (so, including tv and such) at the moment? I know they have had hiccups in the past.

  •

Thanks but I will stick with India one for now.
Anyone know Tidal VPN Argentina still works?https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/444411

Is it ok to give Argentina billing address and my card number?

  •

Can someone help? Family account email invites not being received , thanks in advance.

    •

I have the same issue too. Not sure whats going on!

    •

Yup.. kept cancelling and retrying, eventually received one but said it wasn't valid. Now saying i've sent too many invites to the person and to try again in 24 hours! Arrgh!

    •

I received mine after a while. Just had to wait

        •

I just used a VPN to sign in my other family members accounts

  •

Any one using India and changed successfully to Argentinian one?

    • +2 votes

Yes - just did this successfully.
      1. Cancel Indian membership first via youtube - purchases and memberships.
      1. Install urban VPN as a chrome extension.
      2. Select manage extensions then urban VPN details and then enable 'allow in incognito mode'
      3. Enable pop ups and ads via the extension when selecting the membership to proceed to payment.
      4. I was able to use the same credit card as the Indian membership and used the random address generator.
      5. Uninstalled urban VPN extension and working on all accounts.

      •

        Is that family?

        • +1 vote

Yep just signed up again with the family membership.

          •

@Juan Pablo: Are your family members using their aus Gmail accounts or did you set them up with another Gmail account in India.?

  •

Do I have to use VPN everything I use youtube?

    • +1 vote

No, vpn only required to access Argentina rates; you should be fine after you pay and shouldn't need a VPN.

  •

I have a single account, how do i change it to family? I cant see it in manage account options.

While you are in Turkey Argentina, you can also get cheap Google one.

    •

How much is that and can you use a VPN to sign up from Australia?

      •

I just checked. It seems like Google one prices default to US$ with VPN for Argentina. They are however cheap in Turkey

You will have to change your payment profile to Turkey.

  • +5 votes

I saw this and decided that maybe it was time to subscribe legitimately in Australia. Our family watches a lot of YouTube.

Holy hell! Family subscription is three times what we pay for a subscription TV service. That ain't happening.

    •

Wait, you pay AUD 81c/month for a subscription TV service? Which one?

      • +1 vote

YouTube in Australia is nearly $30/mo for a family subscription. Streaming is around $10.

        •

On, that’s what you meant! My apologies for misunderstanding the comparison made between YouTube AU pricing vs other streams
