@[Deactivated]: Look at Singapore's fatality rates. They're down to 0.05%!

@[Deactivated]: I work in the medical community - in ED in fact. Nearly all of the Dr's and Nurses have been vaccinated. There are some that can't due to genuine health issues. There are clowns in every profession that are anti this, anti that. The front line staff signed up to help the sick and the vunerable. The consipracy theorists/anti vax clowns are putting others at risk. They can also risk becoming a host to a mutant strain of the virus. Take for example the guy in Byron Bay atm… what a selfish person. People like this should be charged with attempted manslaughter because people are dying become of thier idiotic actions. If you don't want to get vaccinated for yourself do it for your loved ones. If these people don't think COVID-19 is real, go to an ICU and work unprotected!! Anti vaxxers should also sign an agreement that when they do get COVID-19, the tax payer (Medicare) won't pay the hospital bill ….because it's not real right!!

              • @joshka: By your example should those who smoke or consume alcohol also be excluded? What about those who drink coke and heaven forbid eat the dreaded McDonalds? Everyone is big and ugly enough to make their own choices. By all means vaccinate if you choose and sit on your high horse when it spreads like wild fire. The rhetoric of protecting others/loved ones is a load of turd - if everyone makes their own informed choice then whats the issue if your cousins, aunties best friends daughter isn't vaccinated and get sick/die- they only have themselves to blame!

                • @jj212: I guess the smokers and drinkers do pay for their own medical treatment via the taxes they pay on their products. The problem with the individual choosing is they put those who can't get vaccinated in danger.

@joshka: Oh and there is no way to test for any 'mutant' strain/s. The current test does NOT differentiate between the 'original' convid' and and the supposed 'mutant' convid/s. THERE IS NO DELTA TEST. Yet we're constantly being brainwashed "Delta" cases are on the rise. Q: So with no test how do they know it's 'Delta'? A: They don't. Ring up any covid testing clinic and (if they're honest) they'll confirm their test does not differentiate.

Here's an example of the the circular-reasoning gobble-de-gook they cite: "There is no specific test for the delta variant. However since the vast majority of COVID-19 cases in the U.S. are the delta variant, it's likely a positive test result indicates you could be infected with the delta variant."

This is like saying: "Because most boats in our marina are white, it's possible all boats could be white."

As for claiming 'anti-vaxxers' are saying there's "no convid"… puh-lease. This is why people need to turn off their TVs, these silly strawman statements drummed into people to the point where they can longer think for themselves or be objective or honest. When someone needs to resort to this you know there's more they can't be trusted on. The whole 'anti-vaxxer' thing is nonsense too. Plenty of medical professionals who take all other vaccines without question are abstaining.

                  @[Deactivated]: That is not true.

"The SARS-CoV-2 genome encodes instructions organized into sections, called genes, to build the virus. Scientists use a process called genomic sequencing to decode the genes and learn more about the virus. Genomic sequencing allows scientists to identify SARS-CoV-2 and monitor how it changes over time into new variants, understand how these changes affect the characteristics of the virus, and use this information to better understand how it might impact health."

                  https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/variants/variant-s…

We are lucky to be in Australia that the number of cases is so small that it does not require significant effort to do genomic sequencing and it has actually been done.

You know how we know this? They do full genomic sequencing on random samples.

It's not a freakin secret. The genomics are published.

We know this is the delta strain… because we used a test that tells us it is the delta strain.

Seriously, the more you post, the more it becomes clear you're either demonstrating the Dunning-Kruger effect, or you're trolling.

                  • -2

@joshka: LOL. That shouldn't fill anyone with confidence. First anyone online can claim anything. Second the total extent of medical experience of some people working at convid testing clinics amounts to how to insert a swab up someone's nose. Third, "experience" doesn't count for much if you've been taught wrong or believe nonsense. Doctors were once taught bleeding weak people and using vibrators on women were effective treatments. And before anyone says it, there have been plenty of equivalent modern failures that were generally-accepted 'expert' practices too. It's only AFTER they get corrected we hear about them so NOW we're all 'experts' again. e.g. Look up what the third most prolific cause of death is in the USA.

@thecraw: This is the current problem in society, we are stuck in a vicious loop:

                    1) Level headed people who have some faith in government (funny how effectively every countriesy government is on the same re: vaccines, yet they will have differing views over trivial matters)

                    2) Trolls - nothing better to do, get off on getting group 1 wound up. This is the group that has emerged over the last 10-20 years who cause group 3 to grow.

                    3) Anti-establishment or whatever you want to call them. Group 1 feeds trolls, trolls poop to feed group 3. Often have some good motives like clean eating and such which doesn't have any negative impacts on society as a whole. Also claim any medical/professional evidence that does not align with their view is incorrect, propoganda or some other BS, Group 1 unfortunately then provides more facts which then leads to the circle of life continuing.

                    • @D2Rflex: @Faulty P xel

So do we feed you or are you fed via the excrement of trolls?

                      • @D2Rflex: Since i can't tag faulty ill have to reply to a post of theirs!

                  • @thecraw: I hope troll, otherwise they are very unwell and don't seem to be getting the help they need.

Sorry but 'expert' doesn't count for much. We all still have a responsibility to get informed and make decisions.

Doctors at a University believe something false, teach it to hundreds of graduates, who go out and do likewise. Years pass before things finally get dragged out into the light and corrected because of this very same attitude… that "We're experts… so you should trust us… until the next time we're proven wrong… but we've updated that now so we're experts again who can be trusted (until the next time we're wrong)."

And of course there's all the experts with the same or better qualifications who say the direct opposite, with evidence, when the opposing person presented none except "But I'm the expert" claim - who get silenced, only to be proven right years later.

                        • +4

@sammyla: you just said you vaccinate your kids and have been vaccinated as a child, that is literally the herd. only have to see 97% people in US hospitals with covid are un-vaccinated. if you have credible evidence there is a health reason not to be vaccinated i'm all ears. but don't say its a personal choice because it's not personal if you pass the virus from someone onto someone else who can't be vaccinated (like kids)

                          • @Adz12: don't read in to the numbers much, those numbers are not prepared or collated by you and you just read some article or heard it on news, following herd can have exceptions. You don't always have to do it. omg vaccine doesn't make you not catch it or transmit it, why on earth would you think that vaccine is the silver bullet?, my friend overseas had the AZ vaccine and her and her husband both got sick from COVID.

                            • @sammyla: the numbers are from the CDC, the same people who would treat you in a US hospital. I'd rather catch covid and not go to hospital than catch covid and go to hospital. no one in Aus that was double-jabbed has died either.

                              https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/covid19/nhcs/hospital-mortality-by-…

your friends likely had mild symtoms from covid because of the vaccine, and likely no adverse reaction to the vaccine.

                              • @Adz12: bottom line you cannot force anyone to take the vaccine or not take it, also there is no guarantee it will save you from death. still early days.

                                • @sammyla: True, in Australia it’s not forced, but there will likely be limitations on travel, employment and livelihoods. But would you get into a car without a seatbelt? The sad reality is people who don’t believe in vaccinations won’t until someone close to them who is unvaccinated gets severely sick or dies

                                  • @Adz12: That isnt a fair analogy. I would drive on the road if other drivers werent wearing seatbelts, yes.

@nedski: The "medical advice" that was "out there" has changed CONSTANTLY over 18 months. So which of all these changes was the "existing advice" we should follow? All of it, as it changed? That's the literal description of the behaviour of SHEEP. First Fauci said masks were useless against convid, the equivalent of a security blanket that might make you feel better but offer no real protection (his words, not mine). Then he changed to masks are need to keep you safe. Then it changed to masks keep other people safe. Then it was wear two, then wear three. Meanwhile other countries wore none and had no discernible difference in infection rates, showing masks do zip. Just like Fauci first said. And this is just one of the constantly-changing "expert medical advice".

            @this is us:

have to wait until the unvaccinated die

Considering they are much more likely to die of old age, or in a car accident, than from covid, you are going to be waiting a very long time.

            • @brendanm: Maybe not if they are in lockdown…

              • +5

@this is us: What? In lockdown or not, death rate is incredibly low for anyone not already on death's door. As I said, you'll be waiting a very very long time.

                • +4

@brendanm: If they are in lockdown, they are unlikely to die in a car accident.

If people don't get vaccinated, COVID-19 cases will not only keep going up but dozens and hundreds of people will start dying. This is just a question of time, and no lockdown will be able to contain transmission. We've always seen people moving around, it doesn't matter what are the rules in place.

I believe there will be a point in which federal and state governments will just say "ok, right now everyone can access vaccines; therefore, lockdowns are no longer happening…". This might happen when we have 80% of the population vaccinated, or when they see that lockdowns are no longer sustainable. Then people will make their choice and feel the consequences. With delta variant, we should expect a lot of people being infected in the community, transmitting the virus to vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals. The vaccinated are unlikely to go to the hospital, but a proportion of the unvaccinated will end up in hospital, and some will die.

In summary, when everyone has access to vaccines, I'd say early 2022, the government will transfer the responsibility to the individuals who might do whatever they want with the information that they have.

"All told, Israeli government data show the Pfizer vaccine is indeed significantly less effective at preventing coronavirus cases of the delta variant (64 percent) than it was for previous variants (95 percent). It’s also significantly less effective at preventing symptomatic cases (64 percent vs. 97 percent). But it performs much more similarly when it comes to preventing serious cases and hospitalization (93 percent vs. 97.5 percent)."

                      https://www1.racgp.org.au/newsgp/clinical/why-are-fully-vacc…

‘An important paradox to understand is that while it remains clear that fully vaccinated individuals are less likely to catch the infection, once the proportion of vaccinated people in a population goes up then it is likely that more cases will occur in vaccinated individuals than unvaccinated.

‘The rate of infection in those that are vaccinated will remain lower than in those that aren’t but because there are so many more people who are vaccinated, that even a lower rate will end up with higher numbers in this group than those that are not vaccinated.’

I think I'm just taking sand to the beach, and you are free to believe whatever you want.

Everything from any Rep is an advertisement

      • -4

advertisement to a product, no deal here.

        • +12

I agree and think should they remove any mentions of products from this website.

        • +2

I can’t tell if you don’t think there is a product here or if you think other reps don’t advertise products (it could be read both ways).

Neither way makes any sense though.

      • Not only this but the vaccination certificate got your DOB as well. Who’s know what they will do with that info.
