KOGAN has been fined by ACCC for " increased the prices of more than of its products immediately before the promotion. "

Why eBay can always get away for it?

Anyone sick of this type of price jack promo should make a consumer complaint

Wondering what's loopholes that eBay are able to exploit?

        • +8

I don't think you realise that eBay aren't the ones that set the prices?

          • +2

@SuiCid3: And that'd be their loophole.

They don't set the prices, they are a marketplace and therefore the seller is responsible for setting their own prices.

            • @Revrnd: You said it yourself… they don't set the prices so what exactly are they exploiting?
Theyr'e not the ones bound by the ACL, the sellers are.

              • +1

@SuiCid3: Yep. So ebay's practice of "sales" with the associated price jacking by the sellers will not be challenged. It's only up to the consumer to be aware of value for money and do their own comparison and value for money assessment.

There are some benefits, but as for ACCC action against them, highly doubt that'll happen.

Stopped buying Kogan ages ago. So glad I made the right choice. Should be banned.

      • Only have shopped at Kogan one time, I regret it.

        • If u want "physical" dualsim iPhones, only go thru Kogan. Otherwise, I wouldn't bother with Kogan.

        HiJack

    • Price jack or the bean stock?

      • Open the door, Jack

Hope the price won't go up

  • +6

They might even use the links provided by dealbot to jack the specific items

    • What's the best website to use to check when they've changed the prices?

Can't wait to read the usual "The code doesn't work" comment, despite the big, blue "TOMORROW" word at the top, plus the first sentence in the description.

    • +11

Couldn't leave you hanging on any longer… The code doesn't work…

    • +7

But also the code won't work on anyone's cart items tomorrow anyway.

      • +1

        Am from tomorrow. Can confirm.

        • Starts at 5PM though… but yeah the stuff in my cart probably won't discount :D

  • Can they jack the price more than the rrp?

    • +15

      First time huh

      This new Jack city

    • +2

He can, thats why they call him jack the ripper. He'll rip you off.

October is the last month for guaranteed security updates for the pixel 3.

  • I hope the Mavic 3 is listed

    • Looks like it's going to be at a much higher price point than previous Mavics.

      • That's true, but I think something to remember is that the extra SSD and ProResRAW isn't worth an extra 2.5k…. I am just going to look at the base unit with the smart controller tbh.

        • I'm hoping that there will be some cheap second hand Mavics on the market once this is released.

    • Was even better buying from education store with apple gift cards purchased with 15% everyday rewards dollar value, costed me roughly $569 for 64GB

      • Complete with jelly scroll. I got JB to price match apple EDU. Received mine yesterday. Beats waiting 4-6 weeks via apple store.

        • Did you have to show some uni ID or anything?

          • @kudoz: YES!, of course u have to show some current education ID. If they say that they didn't, they're full of it.

  • Very creative code, eBay.

  • any good slim, light and portable 14 inch laptops?

      • Ram not upgradable

A surface go laptop with 512mb ssd and 16gb ram under 900 would be nice

        • You can look for some refurbished ones.
If screen is not the issue, then you can go for:
          Lenovo Ideapad Flex 5 14
          Or these ones:
          Asus Zenbook Flip 14
          Acer Aspire 5

          • @open4highway: yes screen is not an issue.

Only requirements are, 14 inch, light and portable. It doesn't matter if it comes with 128gb ssd or 8gb of ram as long as its upgradable.

Is Google Pixel 3 really a bargain when the phone will no longer be supported after next month?

    • good for a secondary phone.

    • +2

Pixels are usually really well served by after market ROMs. As long as the battery holds, it's still a pretty decent phone

    • +1

Given that most phones in that price range barely receive updates, it's not too bad a deal. Its camera will outperform anything else in that price range too. And you can always custom rom it if you're really worried about updates.

I have a $100 gift card in my eBay account, no idea how it got there, is there a way to figure it out?

They did a giveaway to plus members - no entry required. I also got an email with $100 that looked like a scam, but was not!

      • That was it! holy fark, can't believe I won something!

Really thought I was losing my mind.

      • Thank you!! I was wondering why I had a gift card in my account. Couldn't figure it out!

    • Was it targeted? I am also an eBay plus member but didn't receive any email regarding the $100 voucher. I also checked on eBay summary and could not see the $100 voucher :(

They work out which items you would like to be included on there and make sure they're never included.

  • Google Pixel 3 (5.5", 12.2 MP, Global Variant)

Does that mean this is an US variant phone and not an AUS variant?

Anyone has experience with sydneymobiles? Are they the same guys as Mobileciti or are they using the same supplier as them?

I have suspicions their stock are the US variants and I'm not interested in dealing with the whole Mobileciti fiasco.
