I want this, I need a new or spare controller but can't justify the price of this one.

    • Do it. You know you want to. I mean the scalpers on ebay can justify their ridiculous prices.

      • Just consume more stuff you don’t need lol

        • +3

They did say they need a new controller, but couldn't justify the price. Compared to what scalpers are asking, it's a good price.

Scalpers on ebay are a joke. These are still available and have seen some asking $300.

          • @Dreamcast: It's special edition, not limited edition.

Not sure why anyone would want to scalp a controller that will be readily available everywhere and continue to be mass produced if there is demand.

            • +1

@cute as duck: Scalpers mate, they're opportunistic scum.

            • +1

@cute as duck: Well still can't get PS5's at RRP so the scalpers must know what they're doing.

              • @dbmitch: A bit different though. Controllers aren't exactly hard to find. If you can't get this specific one, you can just get an alternative version of it which is readily available everywhere.

Plus it's not a limited edition, so as long as demand exists they will keep pumping it out until the 25th anniversary variant lol.

As for consoles, you are kinda stuck if you want them. Special edition controllers don't affect your ability to play a game.

        • +1

          Consoomers.

        • +1

Oi! This is Ozbargain. We buy whatever garbage is up for sale as long as it's on 'sale' ;)

    • +1

Now I want a dagwood dog

      • +1

One of the massive, giant long ones at the royal show that hasn't happened for 2 years now. Darn covid.

  • +1

Is there an explanation why at least the X/Y/A/B buttons aren't coloured red/blue/green/yellow? I mean, the controller looks good, but it doesn't really get me nostalgic for the old Duke…

Even the logo on the Xbox button isn't styled off the original. This strikes me as very low effort…

    • +1

I guess they're going for a stealth design with the logo as the main focus.
I like the design but I agree with you on the nostalgic OG xbox style. That would've been a better 20th Anniversary controller.

    • +1

Likely a push for more inclusivity with the recent accessibility ecosystem seen in current generation of consoles/controllers colour-sightedness (See other contemporary variants of Xbox and DualSense controllers

      https://www.ebgames.com.au/product/xbox-one/278709-hyperkin-…

Here's a throwback anniversary edition to the duke controller with the traditionally-coloured transparent buttons..

      Also cheaper manufacturing Ye

      • Xbox startup animation played right inside the Xbox Button

Okay that's cool! Do Hyperkin have a great reputation for build quality etc? $200 is a lot if it's just purely a nostalgia trip that doesn't feel good in the hand.

And if the monochrome buttons on the MS 20th Anniv are an accessibility thing, of course that's reasonable. Not sure exactly how that works, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

    • +1

Might be the same button faces as the Elite.

  • Likely a push for more inclusivity with the recent accessibility ecosystem seen in current generation of consoles/controllers colour-sightedness

  • can i sell this for $600 on ebay

  • +1

Are these are being mass produced? prices will half eventually?

  • +2

Meh.. this is like the time they re-released Malabo Stacey but it was the same doll as before but with a new hat.

    • +6

But she had a new hat!

      • Hahaha.. glad you got this reference. Thanks for the quote.. made me smile :)

    • +1

All TF2 fans would die for that

      • Oh yeah. These fans are offended by the name of the guys who wrote the Safety Dance.

  • Hmm this one or the Forza Horizon 5 one?
I like the colours of the FH5 one but it might seem… cheap because of this.

    • +2

I like the FH5 controller as well

    • +1

      Both

      • Yeah, I wish

        • I preordered Forza from MS on announcement day . Cancelled and ordered this from Amazon on the announcement day. Later on I know I still like the Forza preorder one from eb. Yesterday cancelled my Amazon 20 years and preordered from MS because it cost less with gift card.

That's why I say, both. Lol

Oh I am a single player, who knows why I ordered so many controllers. Just like it. They look so nice

          • @ce5himm: Man, I'm the same. I basically just use my Series 2 Elite controller for everything anyway (free using Telstra points, didnt pay for it)

            • +2

@theguyrules: My Xbox life was started from using my T points for the one s deal. In 4 month I went through one s - one x- series X.

  • +1

I don’t need this at all as I have the series 2 elite but.. I want it.

    • +4

Wish MS would bring out some custom Elite controllers especially with the money they ask for them

      • There's another anniversary edition Elite controller being scalped for $500 (p)resale on Ebay when stock orders are not even delivered…

    • Ha, that was also my thought process. I ordered one from Big W anyway, no regrets.

  • why isn't it the size of a Christmas ham like the original?

  • Just sharing my two-cents on this. Last time I ordered a controller from Amazon, they shipped it in a satchel bag and it got destroyed in transit. Sent it back, and they sent another in the same way (despite asking for a box this time), that survived, but the controller's box was mashed.

Just an FYI if you want one of these for a collection. Spend the $5 more and get it from EB or somewhere that will treat it better.

    • +1

Was it recent? I have received a couple of dualsense controllers in separate orders last year but I had no issues with them.

    • Was it fulfilled by a third party? Usually if stated as fulfilled by Amazon, they're boxed in Amazon boxes with paper stuffing etc.

    • @JC1986 Yeah it was about 2 months ago? So recent issue for me.
@discopotato Fulfilled by Amazon. I thought the same thing, and haven't had issues prior. Was something about ordering a controller I guess?

      • I just collected Razer Kishi purchased from Amazon (fulfilled by them too). Item arrived in a satchel (Amazon branded). Fortunately it didn't appear to be crushed or damaged. I think you might be right regarding ordering controllers.

    • I've had the same experience more than once with Amazon, and every damn time with Kogan.
This is the only reason brick and mortar stores still rock for collecting.

  • +1

These still don't come with a rechargeable battery?!

    • That's a separate accessory. Gotta make you spend more!

      • +5

AA batteries are easy to replace and will still be supported in the decades to come, unlike proprietary rechargeable batteries.

Personally, I'd rather spend a few dollars on some AA - as opposed to taking apart a controller and ordering an unknown quality battery.

    • +6

Some had argued that you won't have issue with leaking battery this way. + You get to swap straight away with a new set of eneloop when you run out. This is the way.

    • +2

Perfect if you're a collector and in general. Batteries are dead, no problem. Throw in some new ones. Where other controllers with unbuilt batteries will die, eventually. Screw talking them apart.

      • I heard that hostage negotiators are really good at talking them apart. Or is it down?

      • The Horror………The Horror…….

    • +1

These still don't come with a rechargeable battery?!

I hope not. Happy with swapping my rechargeable AAs

    • +2

No just add eneloops for the superior setup.

    • +1

As a true ozbargainer, we do have too many eneloops. MS is just trying to help us use more eneloops.

JB hifi and Microsoft now saying 24th November release date.

    • +3

EB as well, Amazon may change soon. i think it's the same situation as the halo xbox. all pushed back to 25/11. i am afraid the halo elite controller might be the same case. hope no more delay.
forza at eb is still showing 9/11 but delivery only

      • +1

Indeed. This controller, the elite series 2 halo controller and halo series x are delayed till the 25th of Nov.

        • Too bad I am going to hold the Forza controller, without the series X. I don't want to start Forza with 1080p cloud.

  • -4

    A ripoff for a misplaced/uneven/imbalance/imperfect/overrated mediocre controller….

      • Yeah, I can see my local has stock for click and collect.

      • bought mine from MS 78 with some gift card anyway, still the best i can get.

  • was thinking about this but realised the xsx is still in the box.
