      Got me to create an Officeworks account for the first time; usually if I want something from them, I just buy it in store.

      Of course I also got my order cancelled due to lack of supply. :(

      I did think it was too good to be true though; and those whom can get EDU pricing, well, good luck to them, but even that pricing was higher than this one.

      Getting EDU pricing direct from Lenovo is quite different than getting a deal from a Lenovo retailer.

      I think that EDU pricing helps the manufacturer get some volume, but they should be passing on savings more generally IMHO, instead of benefiting the lucky few. Of course the software for school laptop deals is meant to get people hooked on brands, guess the same is true for hardware.

    I didn't think it was a price error, someone mentioned via Edu store it's about $130-150 more. I assume it's more about stock levels.

    I am still 50/50 about cancelling it, so if someone from SA may want it incase I don't just shoot me a PM and I'll hold it.

    Yep, just had my backorder cancelled and refunded. Not happy Jan! I'm guessing they couldn't get more stock so have cancelled all outstanding orders. That'll teach me to hum and har when it's in stock and available for pickup… but I held off too long and it ended up going to backorder :(

    Although heavy this laptop is awesome, it's so sturdy for the price point! Can't fault it. Came with Lenovo and McCaffee preinstalled though so did a clean install to wipe it.

            @hashtagbargain: Just skip the part where it asks for wifi and disconnect your Ethernet cable. If you are offline you can skip it.

            If you are performing an upgrade and using wifi get to the part where it asks for MS account then press shift+f10 to open command prompt and type

            ipconfig /release

            Can close command prompt after running that and then click on create account and it will let you skip for no internet connection

                @affinity: I turned off WIFi, there was no skip before or after I did this.
                Closed the window with alt-f4 and was able to continue with creating a local account.

    It was a price error, but I can't imagine how many orders from here went through alone.

    15-20% saving compared to Edu price, take into account most of us don't have access to that…so that's a pretty good saving on top.

    I don't keep updated with laptop deals, so I'm not sure how good the deals get when sales are on.

    To be honest, there's always something lacking in a laptop whether it's the screen, the battery, video card so I'm not sure if there's ever been a deal where the whole laptops been amazing lol

    It is now the same price for ideapad slim 5, without the pro. Noticed it is FHD and 8g ram. Not sure if it is still a deal. Need to buy one soonish.

      this has been around since this deal was posted, only downside is the ram is soldered so you are limited by 8gb unless you know how to upgrade soldered ram.

          There is no RAM slot inside so no for normal users unless you have the soldering iron and would like to void the warranty to upgrade.

      Opened it yesterday. Screen is bigger than my earlier one, very vivid. Needed a lot of updates when it connected for the first time. Feels sooo fast, feel I should have upgraded earlier.

      Supports multiple screens on my dell d6000 docking setup, but wont charge through the docks's usbc cable… says not enough power or something.

      I think the price is already way too low and most likely pricing error so I doubt very much it will be any lower than this on boxing day.
