how come the case you have listed here is different to the one in the image? which one is accurate?

      • +1

Ours is proprietary not available anywhere else, so MSI MAG Forge is equivalent, in fact a little worse as it doesn't support 360mm coolers like ours.

        • 16GB 3200MHz RAM - Team, 500GB NVMe m.2 SSD - Kingston or equivalent as well?

          • @Ced: Sorry I normally explain in the pcpp comment: I use the lowest priced option for that spec on PCPP for comparison. Our brands/models may vary but be equivalent.

    • -2

Does this use the infamous Gigabyte exploding power supply?
      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aACtT_rzToI

I would go with the MSI one just to be safe.

      • I've had multiple of these 750w gold gigabyte PSUs running 24 hours a day and no issues.

      • +2

It's fine the issue would have been fixed by now.

    • +1

A bit concerned about the power supply. Seems like the same model as the one Gamersnexus did a video on.

      • +9

Same model number, different iteration. Here is the video explaining what was changed to resolve the issue: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Edv3UcJw0nk&t=1s

        • Oh perfect cheers

      • +5

Gigabyte P series power supplies have been around for ages. If they were always this bad whistleblowers would have caught on much earlier. It's not like GB intended to make exploding PSUs. Was just a bad batch that fell through QC. It's actually a good thing when a large reputable company is hit with negative publicity - it ensures that they will go above and beyond to make things right going forward.

  • +3

750g PSU. Is that light or heavy by PSU standards? In case I need to take this thing to a LAN party.

    • +1

I think it is very light :)

    • It depends on whether you are a body builder or a scrawny little guy…

      • +1

or a HODLer… in which you got nothing but wait.

        • +1

Didn't know anyone is HODLing for a PSU…

    • Honestly not much difference in weight for PSUs based purely on their wattage, it really varies from manufacturer to manufacturer and model to model. If you're looking for something to take around easily, this is probably not the one for you though. I'd recommend looking into doing your own custom Micro ATX

  • +2

Keen price for a decent 3800 box in the current climate with inflation and what not.

  • Can I have everything except the gfx card?

    • Yep but you need to pay

      • +1

        $500?

        • +1

          iloveyouroptimism

    • +4

you maybe able to buy it from someone that needs the GPU only.

  • +3

Hmm not sure how I feel about that price with a 10th gen Intel processor…

    • +3

Free 10th Gen Intel Desktop with each RTX3080 sold…

    • +6

The 10700 is still a super capable CPU, and if you're gaming a very good match for the 3080 (balancing price/performance) If you are also doing CPU intensive tasks, then you could look elsewhere. Even the ever popular 5600X is only about 15-20% faster than this, so not a massive upgrade (a rendering job that takes 30 seconds, takes 24s instead?).

Considering how little the non-gpu parts cost you here, in 2 years time you could do a reverse upgrade, keep the GPU and replace the rest, throw in a basic gpu, and still sell the computer for something.

      • -1

Yeah that's pretty much it, a decent GPU thrown in with disposable/junk parts.

        • I have to agree with Grish. While it's decent, I just think it's not quite enough. The definition of bargain for this one is not for everyone. I'd rather pair this with 5600X.

  • Hi Luke.

Can you check if the code is working? I tried but the code is not deducting the price.

    • +3

      Try now!

      • Yep working. Thanks Luke

  • +17

FYI to anyone that doesn't know, Nvidia put a new and more aggressive LHR limiter on the RTX 3080 12GB, so it currently mines substantially worse than either the LHR 3080 or 3080 Ti.
But, for those that don't want to mine to payback some of the system costs, this deal is an entire 3080 12GB system for what other stores are selling the 3080 12GB for.

    • -1

Good value for gamer that willing to spend this much, bad value for miners. HODL value for HODLer.

    • +8

I haven't "PC gamed" in years, but your comment really brings into perspective how bloody crazy GPU prices are in the current "cypto" induced market (chip shortages probably isn't helping either).

You can buy a PS5, an Xbox one X + a Nintendo switch and still have about $600 left over compared to buying this.

      • +1

Assuming you can find the consoles at RRP

      • I believe that both the PS5 and Series X are roughly equivalent to a RTX 3060 kind of power (at least that's what I've read and experienced).

        • +4

Yep + the fact that developers can more heavily optimise for consoles as it's just basically "one" set of hardware they are developing for it probably makes them something like a 3070 equivalent as far as actual performance goes, providing the developer does a good job.

Like last of us 2 on PS4 for example, there is no way you'd get that game running anywhere near that quality on a PC speced the same as a PS4 (which is pretty dismal specs in today's world).

          • @Binchicken22: On a related note:

            • YouTube: Why PC Game Ports STILL Suck

I own both consoles and PCs for gaming. They both have their place and while I appreciate that a PC can do a whole lot more (and are a heap of fun to build), sky-high GPU prices are turning many people off

      • Buying a console is like buying an expensive car for a fraction of its value but with the restriction that you can only drive it around in your neighbourhood. If somebody tried to sell me a $250,000 car for $50,000 but I cannot take it out of my neighbourhood I would still not buy it.

The hardware in a console is solid but the way it can be used is severely limited. Consoles cannot multitask, cannot run the multitude of apps PC can, games cannot be modded, games/subscriptions are overpriced, tiny library of games compared to PC, etc. Basically forcing you into an ecosystem where you will pay more over the life of the console compared to a decent PC while subjected to the aforementioned restrictions. Now please tell me whether your 'cheap' console is still worth it?

      • Why not get all of them :) PS5 + XSX + Switch + PC and the upcoming Steam Deck
I think if you are really into gaming you will just get them all.
The thing is, gaming is the least expensive entertainment but the real problem is that, perhaps just me, time is limited and I can’t remember the last time I can sit there and game for hours without interference.
At the end, we all wish that we can buy us some time :(

  • +3

    Hi Luke
Would TechFast be interested in putting together a custom model with components matching Dell's deal here but with better case, top rate motherboard and cooling? A build with specific and named parts.

I know the pricing won't be the same but the list of parts there are amazing.
That deal got quite a few takers so might turn from just one custom job into a new "model" that will sell …… fast

    • +4

Appreciate the heads up. We've looked at 12th gen but opted against it thus far. I haven't had anyone clamoring for it either. Then regarding i9, experience says bang for buck is what people want from us rather than top tier CPU. Happy to hear from potentially interested peeps though

      • +5

No demand for Intel 12th gen? That surprises me.. both the 12th gen PCs your competition have put up on here since xmas as well as that Dell seem to have sold fast.. or at least too fast for my friend that has been holding off on a new PC to order when i've told him about them.

        • maan, never have I regretted another occasion like this. Because I was actually busy working at my job, I missed out on the Dell deal.

        • -1

The people that want low-settings, 1080p 500hz gaming are 0.1% of the market. Most people with a 3080 want 4k, or at worse 1440p, in which case there's almost always a GPU bottleneck so that a 12900k and 10400f offer the same FPS.
The Dell systems were simply a lot cheaper than what you could build your own for, and people like having a big epeen.

        • EVERYTIME INTEL GIVES US ANOTHER CPU GENERATION WE NEED ANOTHER BLOODY MB FOR THE SOCKET ~ And its beyond a joke now. Its why AMD has done so well (after back-peddling on backward and forward socket/cpu compatibility support) and its why AMD has been the chip of choice! Only INTELS aggressive discounting (more than balanced out by the need for new MB and often now too, RAM) so much so AMD after years of AM4 support will be TRUSTED when they move to the next socket for 6000/7000 support!

Intel remove the ability to OC as well on all but the top tier mb's. Toss in the lack of must have features (usb-c/4th gen) is still often missing on the back pannel for instance! Intels a bad joke and id rather get a base dell with an intel for rockbottom price and then UG the gpu!

          • +1

            @srhardy: Whoa easy there buckaroo..

            R U Ok?

    • -5

Always get the Dell deal over Techslow

      • +1

Hmm, iirc @belongsinforums waited for his Dell for 8 months or something, whilst Techfast is pretty fast.

        • -7

Fake news. Get the Dell deals always

      • +1

I've been a Dell customer via work in the past for CAD work, its not always on time delivery. Give the smaller OEM manufacturers like TF a chance at least.

  • +2

Looks good but I would strongly advise adding a regular disk. Install a couple of games and this would be full.

    • +2

OS drive upgrades, additional SSDs and HDDs are all available :)

      • +1

I was presuming that was the case. My answer was directed at customers. I should have said "make sure to order a HDD as well"

        • +7

          HDD shudders

          • +4

@belongsinforums: Yep, particularly if you’re spending $2.5k on a system, it doesn’t make sense to cheap out on with a HDD. A cheapo DRAMless 1TB SATA SSD is probably the best value for secondary game storage

        • +1

You must be some special type of sadist to play games off a hdd haha (when you're spending $2.5k on the rest of the parts)

  • +2

    Hi Luke.

2 questions, Any chance of an AMD version of this build and Can Adelaide people pick up ATM?

    • +2

Hold up, techfast is adelaide based?

      • +2

Yeah im pretty sure they are.

        • Damn never knew. Would be good if they had a physical store haha then i dont think msy or other stores will get business anymore.

    • +3

If there's interest in AMD we can look at it but GPU stock is pretty limited so it might sell out. We're not offering pick up - close contact situation would still mean we might have to close operations if a walk-in introduces it, which wouldn't be great.

      • +1

Is there a high spec PC at low cost with no gfx card?

        • Not at this stage. We've done GPU-less in the past, mostly to clear stock, but with recent GPU shipment we will be focusing on complete builds

      • +3

Yes please, hope there is a AMD Ryzen 7 deal please.

      • +1

        Amd plz

      • +1

        Looking for a 3900x build

      • +1

        Hoping for a 5600x 3080 deal

      • +1

        Yep, I"m an AMD boy!

  • was looking to buy an around $2000ish gaming pc, can someone tell me if this is a good deal? thanks

    • +6

This is a pretty compelling deal - many places are selling the GPU alone for $2,200

    • You can game on 1440p or even 4k with this

  • can i please get an upgrade on the ram to 64?

    • +1

64GB is an option on the site :)

  • +1

Hmmm…I have mixed feelings about this build. A brief look at benchmark reviews say 5600x is faster than this i7 10700F.
Will check out for more benchmark reviews later.

    • +2

Problem is building a 3080 and 5600X gaming rig for under $3k is near impossible, let alone $2500.

Also comes down to how you're gaming. Want high frame rates at 1080p? Go the fastest CPU possible, shell out a bit more for a 12700k. But if you're gaming at 4K you're not going to notice any difference between the 5600x and the 10700F. Plus you'll save a whole lot of money.

Also a $99 upgrade to the 10700KF is an option, which is expensive but it'd be as fast as the 5600x then. Need a different cooler though.

      • One of their previous deals was one I actually bought with a 5600x and a 3080 for $2400

    • The 5600x is about 15-20% faster in non-gaming workloads, and for everything 1080p up they're even. If you're doing lots of cpu intensive tasks then it's possibly worth it, but for a gaming pc the 10700 makes a lot more sense (here).

      https://www.techpowerup.com/review/amd-ryzen-5-5600x/16.html.

      • Depends what you're gaming e.g. Cities Skylines you'd want to focus on the CPU

    • +2

Some people are simply impossible to please -_-

Give them the PC for free and they will still find something wrong with it.

  • +2

wow, finally a 3080 prebuilt under $2.5k! GPU prices sure are dropping well!

  • Hi Luke, I order one from this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/678825, would you be able to change my order to 3080 with this deal discount?

    • Sure, email [email protected] so we have a record we can action please :)

      • Thanks, I just sent an email, would love to see how much would be the difference soon :).

      • Hi just sent an email enquiry about upgrading from the same deal as well

        • Hopefully they can save some stocks for our orders before the Gpu out of stock.

        • It's after hours here now so if you have the means available, you might considering purchasing the new deal and we'll refund the other one first thing Monday.

          • @luketechfast: Well, hopefully the refund will be fast haha, new order is TF4765382631.
Original order is TF4762482631 (so similar with the other order).

            • @linhlink: Processed this for you just now.

              • @luketechfast: Thanks, I haven't seen any email, should I do something now?

              • @luketechfast: Hi Luke,

I've also done the same and sent an email out on the 12/02, could you please check this for me aswell.

                New order - #TF4765512631
                Original Order - #TF4764082631

                Thanks

              • @luketechfast: Hi Luke,

Could be my fault not explaining clearly, I want to stay with my current order (AMD), but just want to upgrade from 3070 (original order) to 3080 (this deal), not cancel my first order to this one (Intel), I just sent an email replying to your sale agent Caleb.

                Thanks.

                • +1

@linhlink: Is everyone getting their refunds ok? I received a reply this morning advising it was going to be actioned and nothing so far. I've emailed and also messaged Luke, but no response. A little worried considering I'm currently out another 2.5k at the moment.

              • @luketechfast: I'm a little disheartened by the drop in communication and no sign of refund. Per above I did an extra order on good faith the original order will be refunded first thing this morning. Can I at least get a confirmation it's been actioned?
                Cheers

                • +1

@TheBargainator: Update to this. I've received an email to say it will be actioned this afternoon. Hopefully it has.

                  Thanks

                  • @TheBargainator: Good for you, I have an email from someone else today but haven't done much yet. Did you want to get the allocation of 3080 only like me or whole new system from this deal?

              • @luketechfast: Hi Luke,

Turned out its not possible, thanks for your support here, but I have to cancel this order as well.

                Thanks.
