20% off The Good Guys Gift Cards at Australia Post

4400

20% off on The Good Guys gift cards when purchased at Australia Post from 30 April to 13 May.

PS: Although the deal technically starts on the 30th, some Australia Post outlets seem to be honouring the deal now.

PPS: Looks like the link has been photoshopped out of the Australia Post official catalogue. And the link has been removed from Lasoo. I've updated the link to the catalogue. It is on the bottom of page 5 of the catalogue.

  • Looking to go in and get $4500 worth tomorrow or on Thursday : )
Hope they have stock in Parramatta area, NSW!

    • Didn't you placed an order with one of the POs yesterday? Do they called you and the cards are ready to be picked up?

    • +1

Are uou even reading this where are you intending to get stock from. The cards are out at most Auspost shops.

    • Tomorrow? Are you sure you know what you are going?

Anyway finally bought my iPad 64GB 4G at TGG, the only model I can found available.

      • they told u it was 4G? i think u got ripped off there, mate

        • I know no 4G here.

          Actually I told them back.

  • Any one know of stock in Brisbane Metro. Indooroopilly Towoong and Mount Gravatt shopping centre out. Would ppl iin Brisbane be willing to make a list here of where stock is present??

    • Grand Plaza Browns Plains. Was probably about 1.5k still there after I left yesterday.

    • Indooroopilly had none, Toowong sold out and Mt Ommaney which is still close had only $250 on Monday. Not sure about Mount Gravatt. Good Luck though

      • Thanks ppl. Will check out Browns plains.

        • Did you get it?

  • I just happened to order $500 from the UAT test site this afternoon, not long before they closed it down to visitors. I have a receipt from Aust Post in my inbox. I guess this means I need to contact them to get the purchase completed ?

    • check your credit card or bank account if you have been charged for it yet? If not that means it didn't go through and no deal

  • Went in to my local post. They refuse to sell me with the 20% discount….
They said they are not part of the promotion… What the…
Am I the only one having issue with AUSPOST ?!

    • The first guy I saw have this problem here.

    • +1

That's because that store is probably a franchise and not a corporate store. My local one is a franchise and does not participate in these promos as well.

      • Exactly.
Happened to me twice, just gave up after that.
        Not their fault though.

    • I believe franchise stores aren't part of the promotion?

    • Bought some from the privately owned store today. guess I am just lucky.

    • +1

      My earlier post negates this.

Every auspost is part of this. Where i went to buy was a franchise/licensee- they called a special number they had for gift card enquiries and then told them how to process them.

I would either go back or call australia post directly and tell them which franchise if refusing to sell and they will call them directly!

      • All auspost should do the same because I have a friend own a shop and he has no problem reserved some for my the other friend.

Like last time I complained Caltex about a store refused the free ice cream. They said sorry to me and mail me $25 star card.

As a consumer we don't care who own the store, if it is on the promotion they have to honor it.

        • Yeah, I agree with wholly, superforever……similar thing existed with the Harvey Norman $300 ultrabook deal…….I explained to guys instore that when an ad is on radio, they do not specify that the deal is available at selected stores only, but the deal did. I believe the same with Auspost …..if it advertised, all stores should honour it….unfortunately not all franchise holders will agree !

  • If they get more cards I'm sure they will ration them because they know so many people are after them, and would be the only fair way to ensure everyone had a fair chance to purchase a gift card.

If anymore come out I am only after 1 more $50 card.

  • Have you guys tried grabbing gift cards from tgg and pay at austpost? Worth a try mate.

    • different card

      • Yes, that's what they told me too

    • How can you grab cards from TGG without pay for it and go to austpost to pay for it?

      Sorry I don't understand?

      • he means steal it and pay for it at post office. They have no value until they are registered

  • Anyone in Regional Vic, I went to the Shepparton PO today and got $600 of $100 cards for a dishwasher :) There was about $800 left in $100 cards and probably $600-$800 in $50 cards. Happy shopping!

Who else sells good guys gift cards? Woollies? Coles?

    • Only Aus Post do 20% off.

      • Have any of you been offered to order now and pick up next week? I am not sure if they meant it but they said would call me next week.

        • I don't think they will have anymore after sold out in store.

      • But what about pricematch?

  • My wife is persistant, so when told there were no vouchers left she went and looked through all the gift cards. Found $500 worth…almost enough for our new Ipad!

The lady at the post office was pretty PO'd with her, I think she wanted them for herself. Refused CC, made us pay eftpos. Is that allowed?

The cards didn't activate until the next day (and yes we learnt the hard way, trying to buy stuff with invalid cards)

    • I paid by master card and activated within several hours. Bought my new iPad on the same day.

      • same here.. paying by cc was not an issue..

        • Same here too! Paid using amex in the morning and used it straight in the afternoon. Easy!

  • How much Gst is charged on a 100 dollar card?
Also which dishwasher is best value for money. Dont want Miele or Asko as Technology is changung and newer machines more energy and water efficient. Need brushless motor.

    • -1

      What…?

What the hell are you talking about?
It's GST same as it has always been.

Cards are exactly the same as cash (even says on the cards treat these like cash)

    • +1

There is no GST charged on the purchase of the gift card. The GST is charged when the gift card is redeemed, at the usual rate.

    • Interestingly, my Australia Post receipts show no GST payable on the gift card purchase, but the discount / refund is shown as taxable, so the final GST amount is negative.
This is on receipts from two post offices.

I got the Samsung DMS500TR on Saturday using the cards I purchased on Friday. RRP $899 Ticket price $784 I got it for $669 being made up of $550 Dishwasher $119 2 years extended warranty. I don't usually go for warranty but with lots of moving parts and water involved I decided it would be a good idea this time.
Some talk about this model on whirl - http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1580149
      Total out of pocket $549

  • called ashfield NSW, and apparently has 400 cards (200 x $100, 200 x $50) on order…. and sounded pretty confident that it'll come in today

at least sounds like the warehouse does have stock, so maybe it is a $1M event as someone mentioned in another post

    • I sure hope they are not using Australia Post for their deliveries, otherwise we won't see these gift cards until after the promotion is over

    • yeah I went there this morning and the woman told me the same thing, she asked me to leave my number and hopefully she will call me as she said :)

    • Has anyone got any success yet at Ashfield?

      • no call yet …. but I'll be in tomorrow morning to check again anyway

      • stopped in this morning but none in Ashfield yet ….

        • Will just have to wait I guess.. Do you have to ask or is it displayed on the rack?

  • None at St Leonards and the person I spoke to said that they did not have them and would not be sent any because they did not have the right setup to display them (their rack is a 54 slot rack - too small).
None at Crows Nest but they did have advertising for the promotion.

  • None in Darlinghurst :-( staff didn't think they're getting any for a while.

  • Any experience with a samsung washing machine. Need 7kilo and abovecapacity

    • Have had Samsung front loader washing machine for nearly 4 years old & still working fine. Love it. But pretty sure many ozbargainers here hate Samsung brand for washing machine.

  • Does anyone have any they'd like to sell me in Sydney? I just bought a house and need a washing machine…

I have tried a dozen stores over the past few days with no luck - my partner and I queued up at separate stores at 9am Monday but again nothing - they'd sold them before Monday.

Also I just called Australia Post - they told me that they don't order the cards, the Good Guys sends them to them and a sell price - so they don't know when more would come in if at all. All of Sydney is sold out according to her.

    • Try Ashfield as stated above

    • If from Brisbane how do you want to pay for it and how much do you want?

    • There's heaps left at the small PO i went to, prob like 1k of $50's left.

      • want to PM me the post office? :)

        • Sure

        • Thanks do much RG05!!!!

        • No worries did you leave any left, was thinking of getting another 50

  • Just went to the good guys and bought a fridge i was after- they were fantastic there. The girl spent about 25 mins swiping them all through and didnt make a complaint.

They explained to me that these are cards that are no longer produced- the newer cards which their stores stock are able to be scanned by a POS scanner so make it much quicker.

I assume from this that the reason for the sale is for Aus Post to get rid of all their stock

    • The girl told me the same things, those cards are very old and no longer produced and they have to call the centre to valid them one by one.

      • +1

meh, someone always comes here with a different story. First it was AusPost promotion, nothing to do with good guys. Then there was very limited amount. There's more stock coming in. Then there's going to be no more stock. Then there was 1 million dollars pool available. Bottom line, don't believe anything anyone says.

      • Yep had that today with my purchase @ TGG (said was old cards) worked as well as cash…if you don't count my time ;)

  • +1

Alright, for those in Brisbane, I've left $500 worth of cards in keperra post office. Apparently im the first person to buy them. Good luck

  • +1

ACT, PO in Westfield Belconnen has a few $100 cards, they are hidden under some other gift cards.

    • Thanks for the tipoff, I have sent someone in to find them.

Later: No luck. All gone now.

  • +3

Okay….all the cards are now online! 2.95 delivery fee and no hunting around! Pretty happy that I didn't miss out! :)

    • yeap it;s available online now

    • just bought 1k worth. Better be in quick before they dissapear

      • Is it the testing site people talking about here?

If that is the case it is only a testing site don't order it there.

        • nope. its official, https

        • nope. it is the original site. I just called customer service to see if there were any near me but she goes they just made a decision to put it online! :) so snap them up…

        • OK, good to know.

      • -1

25 cards max for each denomiation… WOOT.. thx guys

        • btw, NO indication of expected dispatch date

    • what's the URL?

  • +3

Thank you to the original poster - I picked up a 42* LED TV yesterday as an early Mothers Day present.

Just to update - there are no cards left at the Rochedale South PO or Lutwyche Centro PO.

However, I was just at Toombul Centro (Brisbane) Australia Post and there are about 25 $100 gift cards and 15 $50 gift cards left. As you walk in they are in the corner line of the gift card display.

    Good luck.

  • +1

thanks, I can buy it online

  • Just checked no Gift cards on St Kilda Rd PO's (Melb)

  • Managed to collect (from numerous card stands!) $500 worth from the Melbourne CBD GPO. That was all I could find though.

  • +1

Ordered $560 online. Only needed $50 but thought I'd keep a few spare for future purchases.

Wonder if their online site will crash with all the orders? C'mon guys, it's time to put AP to the test.

  • +1
