4400

20% off on The Good Guys gift cards when purchased at Australia Post from 30 April to 13 May.

PS: Although the deal technically starts on the 30th, some Australia Post outlets seem to be honouring the deal now.

PPS: Looks like the link has been photoshopped out of the Australia Post official catalogue. And the link has been removed from Lasoo. I've updated the link to the catalogue. It is on the bottom of page 5 of the catalogue.

Yes I tried. They wouldn't do it. I can't really tell you why because their reason made no sense.

      • Well then amuse us!

To chyawala, what a brilliant idea (if it works). You are a true bargain hunter!

        • I've got a 64GB 4G reserved at TGG. They agreed to price match BigW for me over the phone and I think I'm just going to take it at that price without trying to get it any lower.

        • @azza2: how much is the 64gb 4G at bigw?

    • Price match policy for some shops are totally BS. I asked for price match another computer shop advertised price for the Transformer Prime at EB Games. The lady at the counter checked her computer (tried to figure out how much profit it could make?) and said "No, cannot do it." Same Sh*t happend at HN as well.

Thanks to you guys individually buying out an entire store's stock, iPads will be out of stock at TGG for 6 months or more…

    • +1

Genuine question: Why will iPads be out of stock for another 6 months?

      • This will be the cheapest way to buy iPads by far. Those are never on special (they are even excluded from storewide x% off sales), and this is a whopping 20% off. I can imagine some people buying them just to resell for profit.

Thanks for the downvotes guys. Just calling it how it is.

I was at my local good guys this morning and they had 32gb and 63gb models in stock, though I think non with WiFi only.

I got the 64gb 4G model for $840. I figured with 20% off, plus the full GST back due overseas trip, I could afford the extra expense. Assuming my bad maths is correct, that comes in at about $595.

      • +1

        Which good guys was that?

        • +2

you'll actually pay $588 if you paid $840 for it as its 10% GST off the $840

        • Preston (Northland), VIC.

I knew my maths was bad… all those years ago, math methods and specialist maths at VCE, a TER of 91, all for nothing!

Well that was a disappointing stroke of midnight.
Thought the UAT would become live

    • If you are thinking to buy TGG gift cards in store on Monday morning, check your local AusPost opening hours because some are opened at 8.30am and some are at 9.00am. Make sure you don't miss out.

It might be this. I suspect it will go live whenever the site admin wakes up. Looking at the source of the uat version of the website it looks legit but it's for testing purposes. Your purchase will not eventuate in the end. I suspect it will be switched to the main website soon.

I'll be lining up in the morning :)

No Stock at Sydney GPO :(

  • +1

No more at Sydney QVB PO

  • +29

Went to GPO Melb to try out my luck 10 mins before store opening. 4th on the line. Someone took the whole $50s from the rack and another took half of $100s. I took the other half of $100s. Another guy who was actually ahead of me on the queue but I got to the cards earlier was had the "what the…" look (mainly at the guy who took all the 50s… very thick pile!)..

So I did an unlike OZB gesture… gave about half of my cards to him….. Silly ME!! :). I had enough for what I wanted to get.. so very happy with a 10 mins wait.

Not sure if there were any cards left when I left but was a long queue for the register already.

    Good luck and happy hunting!

    • +9

Ah I just posted below, thank you so much ausooi! I was pretty stunned that that one guy took the entire pile, but very happy that you were gracious enough to share some cards with me. It may be un-ozbargain-like, but I really do appreciate it, you made my day. Thank you so much!

      • +3

I can feel the OzB love from here…. nice work ausool!

  • +1

Stack load at my local PO. Talkkng about thousands. The owner doesnt even know how to put it thru the system. He's calling HQ now lol

  • +8

Melbourne GPO sold out in seconds. i was 3rd in line and nearly missed out. A very nice ozbargainer behind me dashed forward and grabbed the last stack of cards but was gracious enough to share half with me. Thanks man, you know who you are and I appreciate you sharing with me when you didn't have to.

    • +2

No probs :) Would have absolutely been frustrated if I was in your situation… Just wished the guy who took the whole 50s shared as well.

      • +9

Aww how cute, ozbargainers meeting in real life

      • I believe everyone missed the lady standing at no. 2 in queue who took at least 30-35 cards of $100!!!
Bye te way I was the one who took $1300 worth of $50 one.

        • The pot calling the kettle black?

  • +1

I just put an order in for $1,000 worth at Parramatta GPO. She seemed to think they would be getting more stock in around 3-4 days. So worth a shot putting your orders in fellow OzB'ers!

  • +1

No stock at top ryde. They say try tommorow but not holding my breath.

  • +1

Thanks heaps op. the ones I got were so old they had rust marks from the hangers. just waiting for activation now

  • +1

    All gone at North Sydney…

  • +1

I wonder, as the deal is from two weeks, if more stock will come in?

    • +1

I think because they are cards and not some run out model with limited supply they should be able to get more in. Or at least put a raincheck in for costumers.

  • +1

    Hello Everyone,

I went to Harvey Norman yesterday and had them price match this offer. I got a Samsung UA40EH6000M. Was $890 from GG and HN sold it to me for $712.00.

This is below cost price so your luck may vary. I was and even the salesmen was surprised that the manager approved it.

Total spend was $812.00 inclusive of 3 years extended warranty.

    Cheers

    • +2

great thinking, dont even need to bother with gift cards!

      • +7

Well, a true ozbargainer will now price match HN with the help of masterall's reciept and buy the gift card for an additional 20% which equals to $570.

        • +2

Brilliant. Ill post it tonight :)

        • +1

That's freaking nasty but really clever.

    • Can I match it on the iPad as well? Since they are out of stock in gg

  • +1

Got another $400 from Richmond (lennox st). There was another $950, but I resisted the urge to buy a macbook air, aha.

Some other guy (probably another ozbargainer) came in after me. Pointed him in the right direction…was about $350 more when I left.

  • +1

I was the first person at tuggerah PO today., got there 10mins early… then after me, only old ladies turned up.
I went in and got the $100's pile, $1800 worth. (getting a new fridge which is I haggled down to $1670 [before warrenty], so I did need all these cards)

still over a grand of $50's are on the shelf.

the guy had no idea how to scan them….
once he worked it out, it took about 25minutes for him to scan it through.

    • +1

the 2 aus post plebs couldnt figure out how to scan. the poor guy before me had to scan each of his seperately lol. my guy did them all at once but messed up on the transaction so had to figure another way to pay for them, I was frantically walking around the store for phone reception to transfer money.

anyway $1500+ still left in fyshwick

  • +1

Was at Carlton South PO, still quite a handful left.

  • +1

at westall vic, some guy bought all $2500 of it so none left there.

but apperantly restock in a couple of days.

  • +2

None left at Sydney CBD Oxford St and North Sydney POs.

  • i just brought $3000 from the Ascot Vale (VIC) post office - still plenty of stock left though

  • +1

None left in Port Melbourne. Lady told me someone came to buy 2000+ worth earlier. I got the remaining 400. I wanted another 50 so I tried the next post office which was at North Melb. Some cheeky bugger hid the cards under another pile but I spotted it after a while. There were 400 worth left, I only took 50. So 350 left at North Melb PO.

  • +4

I bought $0 so far… Want all my OZB fellows to get them first.

  • +1

BTW, seems like you can't pay for gift cards with a credit card. Only cash/debit.

    • +1

interesting, seems like my aus post doofy was right to make me pay by cash (albeit by accidental slip of the finger)

    • +1

      I paid on credit card

      • +1

Interesting.. A guy who took all cards (~$2000) from Macquire PO was told that he can't pay with cc, had to go to the atm.

    • +1

      I paid using cc too.

    • +1

Thats what the operator said to me but he said to give it a try with my amex and it got approved. Good thing too, only had $36 in my savings

      • +2

$36 in savings but still got the bargain? True ozbargainer! ;p

    • +1

      I Paid via credit card

    • I paid on credit, tuggerah PO

  • +1

None left at the following POs. Algester, Sunnybank, Pinelands, Browns Plains. Didn't get any… :(

    Too slow I suppose.

  • +3

I bought $3700 from my local PO- enough for a new fridge and a tv that we are after.

Not sure why they made you paid cash- i paid with amex and visa no problems. I personally would only pay cash that way if TGG did go bust you can claim a chargeback.

anyway thanks for the heads up- this is by far the best OZB deal i have seen and been involved in. Saved my a bundle!!

    • Which PO you got them from?

  • +1

None at Bondi Beach, Bondi, Bondi Junction Westfield (store and concession)and Bellevue Hill..

Success at Double Bay, I got 500, and there is easily another 500 plus left there…

Paid on AMEX, they wanted to see my ID, which was odd…

    • +1

they asked for my id too- they just make sure for any large transactions that aren't used fraudantly which is fair enough.

    • +1

They asked my ID, noted down my address and phone number too. I remember POs doing this before so it didnt worry me.

  • +1

    woohoo

    got $2500

Still some left at Torrensville SA

took about 30 minutes to scan through and apply discount manually….Lady was getting frustrated haha

  • +1

Popped in Macarthur Square Campbelltown post office at 9:10, they had none on the shelf and did not know about this deal. I asked if I can pre-order and they took my contact details once the manager comes in to confirm if they can. Then I thought about giving it a try and going to a smaller post office in next suburb Bradbury. There was a stash of cards. Bought $1800 worth of gift cards for $1440. There was only about $300 worth of cards left. The guy there said to me there might be more coming but that's it, you cannot pre-order and it is a one-off as stock last.

  • +1

Does anyone know how to check the balance/ check if the card has been activated without calling the 1300 number??

  • +1

none at liverpool ( both) and casula post offices

  • +1

none at liverpool ( both) and casula post offices

  • +1

Waiting at the counter, lady putting through $2350 worth.
None of the barcode are scanning.
I'm going to be here all morning.

    • +1

Thank you to Parramatta for ordering in my cards prior to today and having them aside for me : )

      • +1

Which parramatta PO? Westfield or Macquarie st parramatta? So there is none on the shelf?
Do they accept Amex/cc for payment? Thanks

        • +1

Westfield Parra. I was in last week and ordered them through the manager.
Initially they were saying no CC, but I questioned their "policy" because for smaller transactions its allowed. They saw my logic and allowed me to pay with my Visa card.

        • +1

Btw, none at North Parramatta, none at Merrylands.

        • +1

Thanks!! Any info they are getting more in?

        • +1

          I've ordered another $4.5k worth.
Also ordered more at another PO.
If either of them come through I'll go to whichever. If they both get them in well I'm sure they won't have problems moving their stock.

        • +3

Geezus what are you buying with the gift cards?

        • @JLove
Getting married and moving out in July.
Need TV and white goods :)

Need TV and white goods :)

          Congrats!

  • +1

None left @ bondi beach, friend got them for me in the morning, they only accepted cash/eftpos. Let's hope the don't go bust in a week!

    • +1

I find that odd as I was the first person in at Bondi Beach and there were none and I did get some restaurant ones and AMEX was no problem, unless you mean Bondi?

      • +1

My friend got them for me but not @ bondi beach. I went to bondi beach but none there.

  • +1

Well after 45min im told that my $200 was not yerr, an they had sold them last week. Bs. They had my number and try didn't call. Not happy!

  • +2

got $650 @bakery hill ballarat 10am. Many left there.

    • I got $850 @ Bakery Hill 9am this morning, was plenty there.
Have a 64GB i Pad reserved at the local Good Guys, picking up tomorrow once the cards activate. The GG store agreed to beat the Big W price on the i Pad, so will end up with a 64GB, 4G, wireless i Pad for $680 - happy with that.

      • Did u put 20% deposit on the iPad ?

        • no, they were happy to reserve it overnight as I've bought a heap of appliances there so they have my details on their system

  • +7

aaahhhhhhh I feel like I should buy a crap load of these cards but there's nothing I want. The pull is strong though, so strong

  • +1

Just picked up 300 worth thanks STRALYA
    big thumbs up

  • +4

I rang the 1300 number to check if it is activated and was told I could check my balance on the link below

    http://giftvouchers.com.au/BalanceEnquiry.aspx

    • +1

The guy at auspost said to me it will take 24hrs to be activated and show the balance.

      • +1

Thanks mate. Is it an automatic activation? Or need to call them to activate it?

        • +2

not too sure. it doesn't say anything at the back of the card so I'm guessing it is automatic.

    • Thanks for that chloden just checked and mine are still to be activated

NB: Just scratch off your cover over the PIN first as it is needed on the phone, online and at the good guys store ;)

    • Can we ring them and activate it?

    • My cards are activated and I have done my shopping!
