Why is 3080ti still like +$500 more than this

    • +3

Good question… I'm tempted, haven't pulled the trigger, just keep seeing the lack of ray tracing ability and wondering if I'll regret not waiting for a 3080 deal…

      • +1

I'm in the same boat in terms of considering RT performance…but I'm gaming at 4k and even the flagship GPUs and their insane pricing isn't great at 4k RT. Thinking I'll just skip RT until my next GPU.

        • +1

DLSS + RT is pretty awesome for 4K gaming on 3080 ti and regular 3080. When I first tried it with 3080 last June, the DLSS version at the time was pretty poor and to me (a bit of a snobby prick) not worth using over native res with reduced settings. The updates since then have made DLSS + RT actually worth using for 4K at 50+ fps in a game like Cyberpunk. Even at performance or ultra performance DLSS with medium rt settings, the game looks amazing. Whereas 12 months ago the visual quality was really poor and made DLSS more of a gimmick than a usable feature.

That said, worth +$500 over the 6800XT? MMMMMMMMM….. probably not.

61mhs vs 100mhs+.. amd need to release LHR unlocker :)

      • +1

So one has a terrible roi and the other an atrocious roi.

    • +1

100% full unlock on NVidia from yesterday

    • Why compare to the 3080ti, the 3080 is $100 more.
People have been buying the limited stock at a high price, they will try and continue to get the high price.

    • +1

Gpu price is driven by hash rate performance, not the gaming fps.

6800xt is only 63mh/s, 3080ti is 120mh/s as of Saturday, almost double free money.

      • "free money"

    • Because Jensen admitted he believes everyone will accept paying more for gpu's

      • The last 2 years has shown us its true, why not charge more.

These numbers are from the latest Hardware Unboxed 6 game (medium quality preset) average benchmarks for 2022 (https://youtu.be/gMUcZ7978rc?t=570). It doesn't take into consideration Ray Tracing, DLSS, etc I am aware 3k res isn't a thing, but I averaged the 1440p and 4k resolution performance stats. I personally run a 1440p ultrawide, so 3k is about right for me.

I'm glad I'm not looking for a GPU currently, great price/value but only a week or so away from the refreshed models, tough choice! A crystal ball would be awesome for their benchmarks and pricing. For those who don't like Gigabyte cards and/or AMD GPU's this price likely won't sway them, but anything below $10 per frame when looking at performance over 110 FPS for 3k has been very hard to find.

Gamers are still in a majority. Its just that miners buy more cards per head and are ready to pay more increasing the sales. Else you would have recieved more upvotes than downvotes. Also, I did not downvote you this time.

          • -5

@John Doh: 1 Miner buys 20-50 cards. 1 gamer only buy 1 card. Miner controls the market for now.

Retailer and manufacturer are happy selling to miners.

            • +1

@[Deactivated]: "Miner controls the market for now" Not that applicable anymore.

              • -3

                @John Doh: We shall see…

                • +1

@[Deactivated]: Depends on how much your boss gets from AMVIDIA. Its very obvious that Huang released the LHR leak to miners so that mining can start to boom again and raise the price of next gen cards.

                  • -3

@John Doh: the eth global hash rate has jumped from 1.15ph/s to 1.25ph/s in 2 days, and will keep climbing.

all these energy can power the Death Star!

              • @John Doh: This card can only get $2 a day now, and declining with time.

    • +2

Nice work rmh! Its so much easier to just look up the table. Much more appreciate your work if you keep up your efforts once next gen is released ;)

      • +1

as long as the Hardware Unboxed guys benchmark em, ill keep the tables up to date with their findings. They are the real legends.

        • I completely agree, that’s the only channel Iam a patreon of. It’s a bargain ;)

    • Pretty sure the 3080 cheapest has been $1156 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/689354
But this is the first top tier card to hit <10 per frame.
I just worry that it will go the opposite end now

      • yeah true, I'm trying to keep the deals in my table just in the last 4-6 weeks though

        • Fair enough thanks for letting me know

  • I'm hoping to find something like this at a good price mid next month but before EOFY.

    • I'm the same, but I'm not hopeful any more haha. Intel was meant to have cards out by now. They do not =/

Especially with Luke saying prices are going up for the 3070 ti?
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/698658#comment-12104868

      • That card was not a great seller, wasn't received well when it entered the market and closer to 3070 than 3080 where many ti's sit pretty in the middle.

        • If it's not a great seller, shouldn't it be going down in price, not up?

          • @incipient: It wasn't a great seller when it came out, its pricing was closer to retail than other products.
As demand is still high, its falling more in line with other products, eg 30-50% above Aus RRP.

  • This card is now $100 cheaper. I cant make a new post as this is still open.

    • You can. Report this one and create another
