EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 FTW3 ULTRA LHR Video Card $1399 Delivered @ BPC Technology

360

Finally bit the bullet and bought one.

Was hoping to drop another few 100 but still alot cheaper than it has been.

Reviewed quite positively - https://youtu.be/q_VC_00wcMU

Still a great price and definitely better than the eagle and other similar priced cards at the moment.

Bought one on 17/3 for $1288 after the 15% discount code. I guess there were hundreds of high end GPUs sold on that day.

  • +4

Op, not worth hold out until eofy sales? (I am looking for this exact card. Was also hoping for a a bit of a discount on this price…)

    • +6

I was trying to hold out but needed to get my new system running for work. I've been monitoring the prices for a few months and jumped

My thinking is that the 4000 series will be next to impossible to get / prices will be silly for a season or two. And the 3000 series have hit a level where they're listing the lower tier 3080's at around 1250$ and still holding out for the better cards. Which I'm thinking will be like it until the 4000 drops.

Just my thoughts but for a few hundred I'd rather get one now

      • Mm yeah, for the sake of a $100 or two, not entirely worth waiting. Good logic! Cheers.

      • +3

You're correct op it's worth it, I was going to wait eofy but bit the bullet when the asus tuf 3070ti hit $1199 back in March, two months later not regretting one bit seeing all the 3070s/ti ~$1000 or less. Two months of elden ring, dying light 2, cyber punk on the highest settings is so good.

  • +2

I purchased same model for same price from same company ~2 weeks ago so price is still the same as then.

  • Essentially a non-LHR card now for all intent and purpose, able to hit full hash rate 100mh/s with nbminer or quickminer. T-rex coming soon.

Evga FTW3 is and always has been the miners favourite.

    • +2

      hodl or buy bro?

      • I would buy before price goes up north.

        LHRv3 still not jailbroken (3050 & 3080 12gb), 40xx might comes with LHRv4.

ETH post possibly delayed till early/mid 2023, still plenty of time.

if 30xx series price holding, 40xx might comes with a tad of premium on top.

        • Good info. Haven't OC'd the FTW3 3080Ti I received last week yet - has been averaging around 77 Mh/s with t-rex. Just put nb-miner on then and early signs are showing around 104 Mh/s - but need to watch a bit more. Good deal this one.

          • +2

@Janko: 3080 Ti FTW3 has a good bios, it should hit 120mh/s easily with nb and quick miner. t-rex still unstable.

Try —cclock @1200 —mclock 1300, it should do the trick. and undervolt to 750 or below.

          • +1

            @Janko: I’m getting ~122mh on my ftw. 1500 mem 74% PL, fans 80%

        • +1

Thanks for ball park figures - now up to 119 Mh/s at 1250 mem, no core or undervolting yet, fans and power limit similar to Plague, 59°C, crashed at 1500 mem but will both learn and experiment further when time allows. It is my office PC running 2 monitors (usually 3 but no DVI port on 3080 Ti so need an adapter) rather than a dedicated miner.

          • +1

@Janko: I would use lock core (cclock), and let the PL decides the draw on its own. a fixed core is better for the card, plus undervolting.

memory clock is silicon lottery, each card is different, find the figure that stable.

for fan I'd use the curve on afterburner, its getting cold now so no need to set at 80% all the time, mine is at 73% and 86c vram.

            • +1

@[Deactivated]: Appreciate the advice, I'll definitely look into it and learn the lingo etc. No hard core miner here, just like to put cards to good use when they're not doing their day job.

    • EVGA 3080ti FTW3 or MSI 3080ti SUPRIM X? What would you go for?

      • +1

Buy the cheapest. if both same price, then EVGA. if you got loads of moolah buy both.

  • +2

    Not the 12GB Model ;/

    • +1

      12gb can't be unlocked :)

      • It can now up to 90% nb v41.4

    • Not at this price buy there is a different 3080 12gb for less on new egg if you're game.

  • +2

Haven't these been at this price point for a while @BPC Tech? I'm not saying its not a bargain, its just their regular pricing of late? I'm still debating myself whether to go at this price or continue to hold a while. I suppose I don't have a pressing need….so HODL! it is.

These numbers are from the latest Hardware Unboxed 6 game (medium quality preset) average benchmarks for 2022 (https://youtu.be/gMUcZ7978rc?t=570). It doesn't take into consideration Ray Tracing, DLSS, etc I am aware 3k res isn't a thing, but I averaged the 1440p and 4k resolution performance stats. I personally run a 1440p ultrawide, so 3k is about right for me.

There is this 12Gig Galax at MWave for $1399

    https://www.mwave.com.au/product/galax-geforce-rtx-3080-sg-1…

    • High tier RTX 3080 10GB vs Low Tier RTX 3080 12GB at the same price.

      Which one for gaming?

      • If they're the exact same price you'd be silly not to go for the 12GB version.

        • Ok… Will keep an eye out for the 12GB deals too.

  • need the 12gb version at this price!

    price now 1499 :/

  • I caved and got an ASUS TUF 3080 10GB for $1399 delivered from CentreCom about a week ago. Was either dearer or sold out every where else. Very nice card.

    2100 Core / 1100 Mem / Undervolt Overclock / 110% Power Limit / 353 watts / 1.043v / 62c GPU / Mem Junction 74c / Hot Spot 73c./ Fans 67% / 1580RPM / 240FPS / 1440p.

    Silverstone PM01 RGB Case / 3x140 front intake / 1x140 exhaust / Corsair H150I RGB Pro XT 360mm AIO top exhaust / 10850k 5Ghz All Core / Corsair RM750x PSU.

    No issues.

Edit: After a while ambient temp in room goes up a litte so as does temps and fan speeds of GPU.

    62.8c / 76.0c / 73.5c / 72% / 1800RPM. But still sounds very quiet to me. Very happy with the card.
