Kogan Mobile Prepaid Recharge Voucher Code: Small (365 Days FLEX, 120GB) $90 @ Kogan

2060

Hi guys, I just saw one of our community member posted an offer with Kogan mobile on the home page. However, Kogan had sent me a more cost effective offer with SMS message. I have try to copy the link to another browser that didn't save my account and the offer is still there. This offer is valid until November 30th, and have to recharge it until December 31st.
Kogan has the e-sim card service and has a 5G trial which ends October 26 unless extended
I have been using Kogan mobile for about 2 years and I had a bad experience with sim card swap as my phone was lost during this period. I have had at least 10 calls with staff in a month to resolve this issue. Besides that, Kogan hasn't give me any other trouble.

I hope this offer will help you

Edit in 2pm 23/10/2022
One of the OPs suggested to get the $2.90 package with 20GB for the first 30 days and get a free physical sim card or a e-sim card. However, there is a issue on the expiry date of voucher. The website said the offer is valid until 30/11/2022, and have to recharge it until 31/12/2022, but some OPs who bought it said the expiry day is 30/11/2022 or 31/11/2022. I'm sorry I can't confirm which day is the correct expiration date because I have 8 months left on my phone package. It would be nice if one of the OPs who had this problem during the purchase process could send an email to inquire about it. I'll update if I find the results of a discussion between the OP and Kogan in a follow-up comment.

I am confused, so just buy a $2 sim and recharge with it?

    • +1

I think so. If your phone supports e-sim card then it will be more convenient.

      • +12

Or buy the 20GB 30 day sim for $2.90 then recharge just before 30 days runs out to make a 13 month plan ($7.15 per month).

        • I've previously used kogan then switched to catch connect. If I switch back to kogan using the same number, would I be eligible for the new customer deal?

          • +1

@absol13: Yeah that's how most of us do things. We telco surf between them to get these one off new user sign up deals

          • +1

@absol13: Yes. You'll be considered a new customer.

    • Fellow OBs
Don’t bother with this useless deal
No offence to OP. It’s a great price
      But…
Reception outside major metro areas is terrible if not non-existent
By example I’m on holidays on the Mid-North Coast of NSW at present and there is ZERO RECEPTION around here
We are talking around one of Sydney’s favourite holiday towns ie Forster and Tuncurry with a population of over 20,000 people which blows out to over 50,000 and more during holidays. ZERO RECEPTION. You cannot make or receive and phone calls or send an SMS.
We are talking about quieter spots just north at Diamond Beach and Black Head which are retirement boom towns again with ZERO RECEPTION
We are talking about the Taree - the major city of the NSW north coast with ZERO RECEPTION and nearby Harrington as well
We are talking about reception issues down the south coast of NSW and particularly Narooma with ZERO RECEPTION,

What is the point of such a great deal when you don’t have decent reception outside the major metropolitan areas.

Just a strong warning my friends
A deal is not a deal if you can’t use it when you need it

I have been using Telstra MVNOs such as Belong and Woolworths without any such reception issues and so these are the only mobile suppliers which I recommend for my budget conscious friends. And Boost when they run great specials.

      Forget the rest.
They are either too expensive for the budget Mobile buyer or suffer from poor reception in many areas

  • +3

Thanks OP!!! just what we need. I will probably get their $2.90 eSim and activate that first for 30 days… then use this recharge on it since the voucher expires on 31/12/2022.

Does anyone know if I could refund Kogan mobile recharge? I recharged 5 days ago.

    • -1

No, unfortunately not possible. I am assuming it might work if doesn’t work well and involve tio

    • +1

If you have not activated it yet, you can call support to get a refund. I just made a call and get a refund since I cannot activate it.

    • Yes it's possible. Talk to customer service, I have had 4 months refunded when I accidentally applied another 12 months recharge while still having those months. However it will not be guaranteed.

    • +1

      just adding my experience here.
i recharged few days before this deal came up.
So i rang kogan service desk and she didnt know this deal even existed.
Then she advised me to buy the voucher $90 and then call her back so she can refund the original $150 and then she activated the $90. saved $50 from a quick 5-10mins call.

definitely worth it. so if you have the same situation as me, give them a ring and they will happily help you out.

  • I'm on Kogan 1 month prepaid right now.

Could I use recharge to activate this 12 month prepaid deal?

    • +3

Yes; but you must wait current plan is up or you loose current allowance (for example if you have 1 week left wait it expires before you apply new voucher)

      • Just to clarify = don't wait until it expires if you haven't turned off auto recharge because you will be charged for another month.

        • Yes of course, best to cancel autorecharge.

  • Does anyone know if I travel overseas, will I be able to receive text messages on Kogan?

    • +1

      Yes

      • -1

Only if you add the international roaming pack.

edit: … I think. The international roaming thing is unclear of whether you can receive texts if you don't buy it.

        • +2

It works for me without any extra just to receive SMS while I was in oversea for 2 years from the beginning of the pandemic.

  • Thanks OP, is Kogan Mobile powered by Optarse or Vodafail?

    • +1

vodafail, OP if the offer is valid to November 30th, how does that work if you have to recharge by October 31st?

      • +2

I made a mistake on the end day of recharge. It should be December 31st. I have edited the post.

  • Cheers OP… bookmarked the offer and hopefully it'll still be around when I recharge next year.

I switched to the Small plan from the Medium as my mobile data usage has gone down quite a bit the past year (WFH and limited traveling compare to previous years). The data was also 120Gb vs 60Gb or 80Gb as the Small plan occasionally goes for so I had enough data as a contingency if I do go traveling over the next year.

I paid $110 ($120 minus $10 kogan credit gifted due to lack of patronage at the time)… thought that was decent enough deal but this is way better.

I just saw one of our community member posted an offer with Kogan mobile on the home page.

That was me. Interesting that this offer isn't listed on Kogan Mobile's prepaid plans page.

I see that the URL you were sent ends with "-retention/", implying it's intended for existing customers only. It will be interesting to see what happens for any new customers who try to use your link. Probably Kogan will honour it, but maybe not. If they don't, the other offer will still be available.

    • Yes!
If anyone has been successful in taking up this deal and can confirm the correct process they used (not guessing what will work) that would be great

As it says at the bottom its not refundable for change of mind or wrong choice…oh dear!

      • Just bought and received voucher with email instructions stating "If you are a new Kogan Mobile customer, visit the Activation Centre to redeem your voucher. Your SIM card will be on its way soon - but if you can't wait for delivery then you can buy one today from these 7-Eleven or United Petroleum outlets."

  • nice find!

  • I just bought. Will they send me a SIM or just a voucher? Do I need to buy their SIM then?

    • +1

Yes you will need a sim. You can get one from supermarkets.

      • I just noticed, I have a spare kogan sim from many years ago that hasn't been activated. Will that work with this plan?

    • it will be a voucher, need to purchase a starter sim first

    • You can get an esim too if your phone is compatible.
      $2.9 here

  • Thanks for posting op!

  • Can pay with gc from the SB/latitude super swap deals last 4 weekend?

  • +3

Just received the voucher via email but its expiry date is 30/11/2022 rather than 31/12/2022. If I call Kogan, they can resend correct one?

    • +3

      Damn same as mine
Voucher expires at 11:59pm AEST on 30/11/2022.

  • Thanks for posting this deal OP, my plan expires next month. What perfect timing. :)

  • Kogan eSIM services doesn't work with smartwatches, shame

  • +3

OP, I just bought this and the confirmation email says

"Voucher expires at 11:59pm AEST on 30/11/2022."

So I guess you suggestion we can recharge until December 31st is not right…

    • Hardly the Op's fault when he was just going off the information provided on the website.

Maybe take a screenshot then complain to Kogan Mobile.

      • Here's the screenshot -> https://imgur.com/a/fEREgHG

not pointing fingers, just saying what they wrote so he can change the original post. I don't mind as my current plan expires before then.

    • Have you tried contacting them for clarification?

      • +2

No because it doesn't bother me. I was just pointing it out to OP so he would amend his post as this may affect others.

  • +1

Kogan has black friday deals usually 1/2 price or 2 for 1 offers which are better value.

    • Going to be hard to beat this deal

    • Thanks for the prediction! I personally think if you think this package has enough data then it might be a better deal than the Black Friday deal, because the package of 120GB at half price still costs $110-130 in my mind. If you want more data, then I suggest you wait for a possible $150 for 500GB on Black Friday.

      • I guess you are spot on … it will not get much cheaper for a lower data plan … but when you need data wait for Black Friday.

  • Looks like the black friday specials are coming in early. I got a great deal on catch last year

  • -1

I'm confused. More data but cheaper comparing to this Kogan deal?

This is a renewal offer for current customers I think. The one you linked is for new customers only. Which I think is a good thing, looking after current customers 1st!!

      • +2

thanks for explanation! except that new customers can easily convert themselves to existing customer lol

        • -1

Yes that was explained in the deal post and the 1st few comments, so what are you confused about?

          • @WatchNerd: But has anyone successfully done that yet? Kogan may just say "you can only use that renewal if you had that plan before". The original plan is grandfathered.

            • @Russ: Correct
Can anyone confirm success and how they did it please

  • The page via the link says:

Bring Your Own Number & Device

Keep your existing mobile number or we can provide you with a new one.

Wouldn’t that imply new users too?

    • Yes, just bought and received voucher with email instructions stating "If you are a new Kogan Mobile customer, visit the Activation Centre to redeem your voucher. Your SIM card will be on its way soon - but if you can't wait for delivery then you can buy one today from these 7-Eleven or United Petroleum outlets."

Switched from Kogan to back Amaysim in usage for Sydney. Amaysim has consistently provided better reception and quicker data speeds.

    • +1

      Vodafone vs optus

  • im on kogan prepaid plan now..got like 2 more weeks and considering get this for $90

  • Any bigger data plans?
I paid $175 last year for 200GB which got bumped to 288GB for free which I tend to use.
Can’t really find any other provider matching that or doing better…

    • +1

This is only 6 x 28 days but has heaps of data & you're not paying for everything upfront so you can leave anytime a better deal comes along =
Amaysim $9.00 55GB Every 28 Days for First 6 Renewals

      • Doh! Yeah, that seems like much better value but I just bought the Kogan deal :-(

        • Just went online and "returned" the Kogan one for a refund and bought the Amaysim deal instead, thanks.

      • How do they go for speed?

        This is my current: https://www.speedtest.net/my-result/i/5282509227

Update: all swapped over, ty for deal
        Middle of nowhere QLD: https://www.speedtest.net/my-result/i/5330328553

Signing up, paying, porting number and setting up esim took 6 minutes total - it did prompt saying this service is only available mon-sat between certain times and not available Sunday but went through anyway!

    • My existing package in Kogan was bought at the end of June which is $150 for 500GB.

  • Thanks - bought this one and decided not to wait for the Black Friday Deals - can't get much cheaper in my opinion.

  • Anyone knows how to convert your existing Kogan mobile physical sim to an eSim?

    • The staff said it should take less than 4 hours in weekday and it took me less than a hour.

      • So how did you do it? Call them?

        • If you want to convert, you should buy a e-sim card on Kogan first and call them. Otherwise they would ask you to buy one and call them later.

  • Does anyone know how long it takes for your number to be ported over? At the moment my iPhone states that I’m still on the new number they gave me, despite Kogan claiming I’ve ported over to my old number, and iMessage is claiming I’ll lose my old number because it doesn’t match with the esim

  • If my frequented areas are terrible with Vodafone, I assume stay away?
    Sydney.

  • +2

I got this for $120 a couple days ago.
Think I can get a refund and repurchase?

  • +1

Im confused 😕 it says to voucher must be redeemed by 31/11/22. November has 30 days?? Also above in description it says 31/12/22??
So when is the latest i can recharge with this voucher??

    • Now thats very interesting
      The deal says:

Voucher must be purchased by 11:59pm AEDT on 30/11/2022.
Voucher expires at 11:59pm AEDT on 31/12/2022.

Hence there is an error somewhere
Id assume its the date in the email as you said
      November has 30 days !

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/681202

So I had bought those 2 $0.01 deals and found out I was able to recharge one with the other. Assuming I can carry on doing the same with the $1 Unidays vouchers (Unidays lets me generate new codes) I can basically get 12 months of 30GB each for $12

    • So you just keep buying a new $1 Unidays voucher each month and use it to recharge each month?

      • I haven't tried that yet but no reason to suggest it won't work

        • Hmm yes there is a reason! $1 vouchers are not for recharging an existing service. If it worked in the past because of an error, I'm sure disclosing it on Ozbargain like this will close that loophole pretty soon.

          • @Sharp: It seems its not a loophole as it says the following on their page, so it can be used for recharges

What happens after I purchase my voucher code?

After purchasing this product, you will be sent a unique Kogan Mobile voucher by email within 24 hours and a Kogan Mobile SIM Starter Pack by post. If you are activating a new Kogan Mobile service, visit the activation centre to redeem a voucher. If you are already a Kogan Mobile customer, simply login to your account and use your voucher to recharge. Each voucher can be redeemed for a LARGE Monthly Plan without any additional charge.

            • @sub102: Thanks for that. I believe they say that thinking people could only get one voucher (one unidays code) per person. Not intending to give people 30gb for $1 per month every month.

              • @Sharp: I’m afraid you’ll need to give up unless you want to change number every month. $1 don’t work for recharge. I have tried it and no luck, you need to have a new number.

                • @fozzie: That’s what I would’ve thought. Thanks for confirming.

  • Thank you OP. Just bought one for my dad.

For the last 12 months, he used 1% of his 150gB 🤣

  • How do one propose I use this deal as a new customer?

Buy a starter pack and this $90 making it 92.90 (+ delivery fee)?

    • +2

No delivery fee if you don't choose fast delivery, and extra $2.9 will give you an extra month of 30GB package, which means $92.9 for 13 months.

  • Can anyone confirm if I buy this, I can still activate in December?

    • -1

Voucher expires at 11:59pm AEST on 30/11/2022

    • Yea you can, it says voucher expires 31/12/22

      • +1

Watch out proudwander some people have said they received a voucher that expires 30/11

        • Maybe if we wait until 30/11 before buying, then that gives you grounds for argument - for how can they sell you a voucher that expires on the same day you buy it :)

But then again - you risk the voucher being "sold out" or risk them taking it off the table before 30/11.

          • +2

@proudwanderer: Tbh on the page it says 31/12 in which case I would contact them and ask to honour what it says on the page or get a refund.

  • Is Kogan's network faster than Catch Connects?

    • It depends where you live. No difference in South Sydney.

    • +1

i am in Bentleigh east Vic, Kogan is faster than catch

      • That's good to know, can you give me the approx download speed of Kogan? Currently getting around 200mbps on Catch Connect and I'm in the west

  • buy a gift card with cash rewards and get 2%. redeem the gift card to your Kogan account and buy the prepaid sim. Enjoy some $$

    • Can you use gift cards to buy this with though?
