Can I use the $10 perk voucher to buy?

    • +1

Yes you can, I just did

  • +1

saw this email the nearest store has stock is in SA for me. nothing in WA

  • +1

Is the digital edition dead? Never see it get posted here.

    • -2

I don't see it any where on the JB Hi-Fi, EB Games or Harvey Norman web sites. So i think that Sony may have quietly axed it. It's possible that not enough people were buying it but going for the disc based Playstation 5 instead. There's no stock any more at retailers.

      • +3

There was stock literally just this morning at Big W. Digital stock is wayyyyyy less at all times and always has been. Essentially it's existence is to 1. Sell Digital games 2. Say 'PS5 starting from $649.99'.

    • Sony dont make money on the current digital version. For the next slim revision, Sony is planning on selling a separate disc drive for digital people with buyers remorse.

The op also mentioned you can take advantage of discounted gift cards to get it cheaper.

      • -1

        discounted gift cards

If that's all it is, then it's a dupe as the discounted cards are posted in another deal.

        • +2

This deal has stock though. Not like the other deals that is preorder which you dont even know when you will get it.

          • +4

            @Bang1:

            This deal has stock though.

            It's still RRP

            • +3

@jv: Yes jv. No one here is denying that its RRP. I know ozbargainers dislike rrp including myself. If the op posted the deal as rrp I would not upvote this deal at all. But the op has made the effort to show you can get it with 10% off with discounted gift cards that has stock now. Fair to peeps who want to wait, but there maybe some who want to get it now with the discounted gift cards and there is nothing wrong with that.

              • +4

                @Bang1:

No one here is denying that its RRP.

                RRP is not a bargain.

                • +2

@jv: Thanks for the lesson on what constitues a bargain and whats not. 😂
We all better follow jv bargain guidelines.

                    @Bang1:

                    Thanks for the lesson

Not a lesson, just a fact

            • @jv: its not RRP - its $49 MORE then RRP - therefore a DEAL

              • +1

                @botchie:

                its $49 MORE then RRP

                😲

                It's an AntiBargain !!!

I’ve fixed it up for you chief. Lemme know if anything else concerns you :)

      • +3

They should bring out a new commercial:
JB JV You've Done It Again!

  • This deal will also be good for those who recently bought the $1000 superswap with the $125 bonus +$20 cashback from shopback.

  • Just when pre orders at EB Games ran out of stock yesterday..

  • cheaper by $0.05 than the EB Games post

    finally a ps5 bargain

  • -5

Wasn't there a deal recently for 650 for digital version. this is not a deal price

    • +3

But you don't get a 4K blu-ray player on the digital version. Also the digital version i suspect has been axed as there's no more stock from any retailer and not taking orders.

      • -7

digital was always in shortage, simply because it was cheaper, who is using discs nowadays anyway? I haven't seen or used a DVD or Blu-Ray disk in like 10 years

        • +7

Just because you don't doesn't mean that other people don't. Which is the reason why the PS5 disc version sells. People still have their PS4 disc games too and tend to use disc versions of PS5 games too. Not every one is into digital downloads for every thing.

        • +4

digital was always in shortage, simply because it was cheaper

If cost is a factor for you then that's shortsighted view. Digital games are usually more expensive than physical discs. Just look at all the recent Amazon deals on games. Having flexibility of both digital + physical is the way to go.

        • +4

You'll be paying more in the long-run buying digital-only games

        • I use discs. 2nd hand games cost far less money.. i don't have FOMO so yeah.. is all good.

      • +4

You're literally making up that the digital has been axed. "Digital has been axed" source: I made it up.

        • +2

I said i suspect. That is my opinion.

          • @hollykryten: You can't make up anything you like and use an excuse that it's an opinion. That's not really how it works in life. Opinions should be backed with logical reasoning and or supported information. I could say I didn't see any milk on the shelf at Coles yesterday, I think they've stopped selling it and then saying it's my opinion lol. It's ridiculous. There is no way in the world Sony are going to stop selling a digital version of the PS5. Anyone who knows anything about gaming or the industry knows that this is how they want to move towards to in future, a discless console. C'mon!

            • @Justin9mm: The rumor is Sony are to produce only one model, the PS5 Digital console from mid 2023.
If consumers want disc based games or movies they can buy a Sony usb connected 4K Blu Ray drive as an accessory. Much the same way we connect external HDD for storage. More than likely this will be the anticipated new digital only slim model. The motherboard and heat sync in the current third version consoles are 40% smaller than the launch model, with no changes made to the outer shell. No doubt they are preparing the internal electronics for the lighter, smaller slim model.

              • +2

@klaatu: Old news mate.. They are saying they axed the digital option period. You are talking about a revised model, they haven't stopped producing the digital version. Read all that posters comments, its not what they are talking about lol

                • +1

@Justin9mm: I agree with your view on why but there's no need to label others with the no idea tag.

My point was a slightly different one.
Sony could (note I said could) be selling disc only version to clear their commitments made for components in the drive. Sony may have agreed to a volume deal to achieve a price on 30 million drives at a certain price per unit. If they drop this agreement, may have to write a check to offset for the whole 30 million. Even a 50 cent difference is 15 million. This is also applied to other components, the lower plastic white cover and internal shroud.
Separating the disc drive out from the console could be the first stage of the evolution to digital.

People here are entitled to opinions, just as you are.
And for the "anyone who knows anything about gaming or the industry knows that this is how they want to move towards to in future, a disc-less console", I did have the pleasure of working at Sony Computer Entertainment directly (now SIE) over 4 years.

Peace, have an amazing day and lets all enjoy gaming over the holidays when those finally have the chance to get their PS5.. :)

            • @Justin9mm: What the (profanity)? The dude you responded to literally prefaced his opinion with "i suspect" and gave a reason based on his observation (stock).

Also the digital version i suspect has been axed as there's no more stock

              Bloody hell, you're mad.

              • @ssfps: I'm going to take that as a compliment. If only I could post Gifs on OzB.

                • @Justin9mm: It's not one.

Opinions should be backed with logical reasoning and or supported information.

Where is your supported information to back up this claim?

  • +2

Well, it will get better. Deals coming. HODL

    • Black Friday sales are coming soon so i wonder if the PS5 will be a little bit cheaper then.

      • I doubt it but I have waited two years so no problems waiting a bit longer for a deal that is not RRP.

        • Yeah i don't know. Come to think of it might be more like games and accessories being on sale during Black Friday.

  • +1

Retailer should just starting to put these onto shelves. After 2 years, its really time retailer stopped making this an exclusive thing you only get under the table or online.

    • I agree.
      They're taking the piss now.

  • -1

i just preordered the new PS VR2 for 879 bucks costs more than the ps5 :D

  • +1

You can also purchas through big w who has it in stock.

Sign up to everyday rewards trial and collect 3 x points.

Use discounted 5% off cards. Brings the price down to $719 after collecting $40 off woolworths shop

  • +3

So if you buy 8 x 100 Gift cards (at BigW) that are redeemable at JB at 10% off each you are essentially buying this version of the PS5 for $719

  • The Great PS5 Shortage of 2020-2022 may finally be over!

    • +1

Except for the PS5 digital edition it seems no where to be found at the moment.

  • This or Xbox? Coming from a PS4 here. My bro told me to get Xbox because gamepass is good or something. Casual player btw

    • +1

Gamepass for casual player nah. For hardcore yes.
Edit: for casual just get 1 or 2 games of interest as you probably wont even have time to finish it in many months.

    • +1

PS5, and you can get a ps plus tier too, many PS5 games on that service including the marvel's spiderman games.

    • +3

Xbox, Game pass is so damn good value.

    • +4

Xbox with game pass is much better value even for casual players in my opinion. PS5 games are very expensive and currently there are not many exclusive games.

    • +2

Honestly now I got both. PS plus essential + XGP works well for me.

PS plus essential monthly free games isn't really that bad, but you need to wait for some good ones.

    • +2

Like many have said Xbox with game pass is unrivaled and unmatched, you can buy a Xbox and game pass and be set forever without having to buy many games if any at all.

  • +3

This doesn’t seem to fit into the ‘bargain’ definitions.
This is more like stock availability. Saving using gift cards and cash back, shop back etc are standard across many items.

  • +1

    Cmon ps5 pro!

    Cbf waiting grrr

  • +7

only $49 more expensive then when it launched 2 years ago, bargain

  • WTS… did it get more expensive?

    • Sad but true

      • That's unfortunate. Are they easier to come by at least?

Also..the heck did i get negged for?

  • -1

    Rrp isn't a bargain

    • +20

You’re one tough individual to please

Out of the deals you voted in 2022: 2 were upvotes, 9 were negs, another 2 negs were removed by the community because you were late to the party (DoorDash deals 1, 2)

On a side note, if I post it as a forum post, it’ll be removed by the mods as “Post as deal” (2 of my forum posts were removed due to that reason). So all of these OzRRP deals would need to be posted as a deal. At least I tried linking some gift cards deals to help a bit

      • -2

Personally I don't think posting something at rrp is a deal. Previous up votes on previous ps5 posts have proven that its a popular sentiment. These aren't selling out in minutes any more.

        • They are not selling out in minutes anymore because the stock from Sony has increased a lot.

    • It's above RRP 🤔

  • Ooo my work gives me 5% of jbhifi cards so that plus $10 perks means console is $749.55 a whole $0.45 off the $750 rrp pog!

  • +1

Thanks OP, I know this isn't a Bargain, however, making us aware that JB had heap came in will make a lot of Squids happy on December 25. I was on the lookout for one my bosses, and this had kept me in the good books.

  • WA does not exist

    • +4

      WA who?

    • WA why?

  • Gotta get a ps5 for Christmas. Must consume! Product, get excited for next product!

  • OzAvailability

  • Back in my day, consoles went down in price 2 years after launch…

    • +1

They were also weak as piss whilst sounding like jets taking off.

  • -4

omg the price when up 50 bucks just checking how much i paid back in 2021 lol the disc version was 749 from big w hahahah you all have to pay more.

    • Not if you buy with 15% off gift cards. $799x. 85= $679.15

Guess what, you paid more 🙊

But one good thing is that its not selling out wthin few mins like it used to. Its a good sign that some deals may finally come up soon.

      • Where to get the 15% off GC?

        • See OP’s description. It is in the upcoming Coles catalogue starting next Wed

      • Like I said in a response before, Sony is aiming to ship around 9-10 million units in the last quarter of this year (October-December), last year they only shipped 3.9 million units in the same quarter.

        • Good to know that there will be no more overpriced bundles (these bundles were a joke) with the abundance of stock. Hopefully good deals do come up for standalone consoles leading up to christmas.

  • +1

Thanks just bought one - cost $720, using ultimate cards (10%off) from BIG W.

  • does JB has trade in program for PS4?

    • +1

No - only EB games has trade-in however - except NSW (to the best of my knowledge) you can walk into EB games and ask the credit to be put into your bank account.

      • thanks, mate

  • +1

Final price $700 for me after using 10% BigW -($70)+ commbank spend $75 get ($20) back + ($10) JB perks - hopefully EB will cancel the pre-order I did 2 days back without any dramas

  • WA left out sigh!!

  • When they were low in stock I wanted one so bad but could never get one, now there are stock available I don't feel like buying it anymore lol.

  • +1

Possibly out of stock as web address is now 404

  • Back in stock again.

  • Do we think these will get cheaper after Xmas?

    • For that we must consult the oracle that is the magic 8ball.

      Magic 8ball says maybe.
