              • @aladdin: I have no complaints. I’m getting between 70-90 mb downloads, no issues streaming. Haven’t tried online gaming on the PS5 yet.
Superloop was great, and obviously had speeds that were advertised. I’ll definitely be changing once the discount is finished as I won’t be paying full price for this service.

  • I'm on HFC in Melbourne (South Eastern suburbs), thinking of switching to Spintel - any feedback? I'm surrently with Superloop.

    • +2

I'm in Malvern East - switched over a couple of days ago, also on HFC, consistently getting 92/16 on various speed tests.

      • im need to NBN and also on HFC. I just bought TP-link AX3000. Can I bring that as BYO to get on NBN or do I need a modem router?

        • AX3000 should be fine. I've got a AX6000 and have switched nbn providers 5+ times without any issues.

  • On HFC in Brisbane North. Went from Telstra 100/20 (105/18 most days) and now on Spintel 100/20- getting 65/15 at most. Expected for the price I suppose.

Had to change from Dynamic IP to PPPoE with supplied username and password.

    • It's probably ok for the price of a 50/20 plan, but much higher pings.

I cancelled and reversed mine and stuck with Leaptel.. press of a button for NBNco

      • was the ping difference noticeble? (i'm not a gamer)

        • +1

The figures were a lot higher, didn't test it that long but didn't want the internet to feel slow etc. Guess test it and see.

  • Thanks heaps!

  • +2

just got mine connected, please note that Spintel using PPPOE for connection, so if you have been using other ISP with DHCP connection, you need to change your router setting to PPPOE(they will send login username/password)

  • +3

Signed up at 12pm 24th and connected at 1:30pm 25th.

I am in Sydney and speed test is about 13ms - 15ms 93-94/15-16Mbps at 3pm.

People getting high pings must be from Greater Sydney. :D

    • thanks for sharing

    • Yes no good in other cities as mentioned in this thread.

    • Hi mate, im also from Sydney, can I ask what was you previous isp? Im with origin internet,im tempting to change if its just the same.

      • +1

I was with Tangerine then Spintel then More and now back to Spintel. All use PPPoE for HFC and all have similar ping at between 11ms - 15ms. Imo I think they are the same. Quite reliable and only had a few small issues like all RSP have.

  • +4

Anyone wanting to cancel More NBN after signing up to Spintel. Do this: More Portal>Order>Create New Order to select NBN and select Cancel NBN. Took me 10 minutes to figure it out and the customer service doesn't actually want to tell you.

  • I am getting
    Oops…
    Invalid Promo Code .

anyone getting the same error when entering BF20 ?

    • +2

I think u need to click the black Friday URL if u through their normal page you will get invalid code..

  • I just cancelled my order, was having doubts anyway but the connection is taking way too long for FTTP. Changed many times before to other rsp's and it's always taken minutes, 2 hours max, these guys have taken over 24 hours and all they can tell me is 2-5 working days. Great price but a case of too good to be true?

    • I just spoke to them too. They said exactly the same thing. It will take 2-5 days depending on your connection type. I'm on HFC, and you're on FTTP, so I wonder what connection takes 1 hour to churn? Reckon these guys are inundated with all the orders. I'm contemplating whether I should cancel too.

      • FTTP here.. took less than 2 hours yesterday morning.

  • +1

Someone with experience with spintel, could you confirm what kind of protocol they require? Is any DHCP enabled device good? Or is there configuration required like PPPoE or CE-VLAN?

    • +2

      As above PPPoE

  • +1

Will activation still occur over the weekend? My next bill cycle is Monday the 28th. I signed up on the 24th and my order still says "processing" - spoken to chat and apparently they are trying to speed it up. Wondering if I should cancel

    • I am on same boat. Monday is cycle date for superloop and spintel order is still processing.
Don't think spintel process orders on weekend.

      • Just had chat with spintel and they told me nbn won’t process the request on weekends so have to wait till monday for update. But after few other queries was told that the process is still with spintel and shows me order still processing. So I think it’s spintel that is delaying the activation not NBN. Thanks

  • At this price they are obviously inundated with new orders. They are probably not automatic like ABB, SL Exetel etc and have to be done manually. Im happy to wait have 10 days left of SL ;)

  • +1

Swapped over today from SL, only got 66/12, 99ms ping ex Perth.

Called them up and they said wait 24 hours before testing again, hopefully it gets better otherwise will move to another ISP.

    • About the same as me. Not sure how time will help.

    • Think they only have one pop in Sydney. Meaning, that every request you have has to go to Sydney before going to the wider internet.

Despite paying more for superloop (getting $5 off ongoing and have 1 referral $58 on the $69 50mb plan) I stuck with them. The quality of their wider network, their cvc graphs and then giving existing users a sticky IP (new users are in cgnat except SA, NT, WA) is what kept me with them for the time being.

  • +2

Thought changing to PPPoe username/password was enough, re-read the email had to change cable to UNI-D2 on the NBN box. All working now. Test speed
    94.20
    Upload Mbps
    15.34

    7PM

    • I better read the email I think. How do you configure the NBN box. I am still only 65/15.

      • +1

The cable that goes to NBN box to the router was connected to UNI-D1. I set up everything else and still no connection. Email said to connect cable to UNI-D2 instead and it worked seconds after connecting

  • outage in Perth since mid-morning. spintel's network status says "no network issues reported"

    • did you restart your modem or called them?

  • In NW Brisbane. I ordered 100/20 yesterday and the service has been successfully cut over from ABB 250/20 today. Before that, I was with SL, but had some issues with them, as there was some annoying network latency when watching Netflix. Regarding Spintel 100/20, it's a bit early to call out, but I had no problems with their SD function, as I could contact them via chat or over the phone. More importantly there seems to be no hidden latency on watching streaming services. Just had to change settings on my router to PPPoE from Automatic(DHCP). Lastly, this would sound a bit odd but I feel like the overal network response time is improved than I was with ABB 250/20 plan. Interesting..

  • Static IP is $11 per month?

  • +2

how long does it take to activate? i signed up yesterday arvo

  • They use carrier grade nat which costs extra to circumvent. Carrier Nat is not good if you are a gamer. Sauce: https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/thread/35pn4mrn#r71183400

  • Is it for fttc also ?

  • What a shame!
Signed up for 100/20 receiving only 20/15.
Got connected on Friday 11am, customer service told the speed will increase bt night but doesn't seems so.
Will wait for 2-3days else cancel.

  • Has anyone had any success with switching to Spintel with an Eero 6? When I try to google it, the first thing that comes up is a Gizmodo article about how Eero doesn't support PPoE properly. Their chat isn't being much help either.

I also spoke to them about using this plan to qualify for FTTB upgrade. They said they will do it, but they won't switch your current connection. When NBN have the new FTTB setup, I will need to cancel my FTTC. Does this sound logical and possible?

    • +1

Eero does have PPPoE but you need to be on the latest firmware. To get the latest firmware you need an internet connection, so can be difficult.

      Pete.

    • 100/20 is the minimum speed required to swap from FTTN to FTTP.

250/25 is the minimum speed required to swap from FTTC to FTTP. SpinTel don't offer the 250/25 speed tier. Exetel, Aussie BB and Launtel are a few ISPs that do. Find a participating provider. Cancel FTTC after you have swapped to FTTP.

  • This looks like a great deal.

    • Super deal actually maybe lowest price 100/20 isp in Australia as of today and many2 years ahead

      • That's because you won't actually get ,100/20 speed, highest was 65 when I tested. Better experience if you live in Syd apparently.

  • I might be blind but can someone tell me how to generate a referral code? I logged into My Account but don't see a link anywhere and the page below is of no help.
    https://www.spintel.net.au/referafriend

    • You cant. You need to ask them to generate for you.
And you can have max 10 "active code"
When 1 person actually use your code the code status will become "pending" (attached to an order) and you can have 1 new code. And so on

      • Ah thanks ChiMot! I'll try that then

        • someone said earlier referrals not accepted on the special deal. (at first it was but changed)

  • +1

    48+hrs and still processing :/
Strange how some were connected within the same evening. Guess this deal got more popular that they anticipated?

    • +3

In the same boat as you. Called up customer support yesterday and they said that this is normal within their policy of 2-5 days. It doesn't make sense when ISPs like Superloop can churn within 10 minutes

      • Yeah customer service advised me my service should be activated by Tuesday. Definitely a step down given how fast Superloop was (Within minutes) but heck I am getting a great discount with Spintel for 6 months so I can't complain.

        • No doubt they got inundated with this deal but you pay for customer service too. Be easier just to choose an ISP and leave it haha

  • For those saying switch after 6 months.
How do you handle voip when switching, or do most people get a separate voip service?

My dad is with Spintel currently, haven't really thought about ever switching isps. voip through spintel and have a cisco SPA setup.
the spa was a pain to setup and get the settings setup. Not sure I would bother if new number and voip setup is an issue.

  • Does Spintel provide pro-rata refund if you leave them before the end of the monthly billing cycle? Some companies do and the others don't.

    • +1

Note: Monthly bills are paid in advance, if you are terminating part way through a billing month, your fee will not be pro-rated

      • Thanks. It makes sense then to move out only when the billing cycle ends, if one needs to.

  • Hi everyone, will there be a need to buy any new hardware if moving from TPG's NBN 50 Cable plan?

  • +2

Based on the all the average reviews so far I decided to cancel my pending request.

  • +2

Will they still connect you if you don't give them your MAC and SN?

    • +3

      Sure did for me!

  • ordered the mobile plan
uses the optus network. haven't used them for ages.
currently on 49 plan with telstra with 60gb
    savings of $23 a month.
if not good will change back to telstra again with JB Hifi promo deal.
    Kudos to OP

  • I got onto this deal ( thanks NITINR )

  • +1

Has anyone tried spintel with Telstra smart router ?

  • +1

Oh wow, im glad i procrastinated jumping on this deal. With regards to all the slow speed, are they all FTTN?

    • I need to know this as well. FTTN VDSL connection type? And, We would just be entering ISP username and password.

      • PPPoE, you need username and password.

    • FTTN, I'm getting 25 Mbps download and 19 Mbps upload.

  • Who provides the best service in Perth?

    • +1

Superloop for me, lowest latency to Europe of all providers I’ve tried. Solid speeds and no bs.

  • Still horrible speeds in Brisbane. 49/15 for me today. Will hang here for 6 months, but no longer.

    • I get 70-80/15 consistently in the Redlands.

    • I reversed it straight away, was better keeping my good 50/20 connect for $10 more. Probably alright anyway if not worried about pings and all that.

  • Coming from superloop on a fttc connection, is there anything to worry? OP?

  • They honoured this deal for me on the phone just now.

    • Why wouldn't they? It's till 30/11 via any sales channel.

  • Trying to sign up now and it's just sitting on the 'checking' service address spinwheel. Have tried FF and now Chrome.

    How long should I wait?

    • Ok so it only worked once I connected my VPN. Weird.

  • +1

Called at 11am and connected at 12:50pm!

Also noting rep said: to be eligible for Black Friday deals, the order must be 'progressed' on or before 30 Nov.

    • Wow really? Mines still Pending from Thursday :/

      • +1

Same here. Still waiting. I have a feeling that everyone that applied on Thursday after office hours has gone to another pile. Called them a few times already and they aren't helpful

        • Speak of the devil, just got some messages and emails then saying it's apparently hooked up. Will see how it fares and what my speeds are tonight after work I guess!

          • @Stoibs: Damn I hope mine gets activated soon since I am also waiting from Thursday

      • For some reason the Internet is not up and running yet so might have to ring them up later

        • Did it say you're connected?

          • @nightelves: It did - maybe I need to configure my modem? Will sort that out after work I suppose

            • +1

@fortunecookie: Have you switched to PPPOE and entered in your user details?

              • @Menzoberranzan: Thanks for this, I'm not a tech person haha.

Once I have done this, it connected instantly and so far working smoothly.

            • +1

@fortunecookie: Yeah you have to configure your modem with new username and password that was provided. Make sure to configure it in EWAN.
