    Well that's a deal.

  • +1

wait what can I use this for?

    • Cutting wood and metal.

      • can we use this to prune instead of buying a prune tool?

        • +2

I mean.. you prob could but you’d be better off with either a pruning tool or chainsaw depending on diameter of branch

        • +6

I wouldn't but hey if you want, you can use it as a hammer to pound nails in with. . Most pruning is best done with a bypass or anvil mechanism, or if really big a saw… not the best use of a jigsaw.

        • +4

Reciprocating saw is better for heavy pruning I think

        • +2

It depends what you want to prune.

If the branches are sturdy, reciprocating saw might do.

I've found this works well for more flexible branches: https://www.bunnings.com.au/ryobi-one-18v-cordless-pruning-s…

For cutting timber bars (1-3cm thick), and other casual DIY tasks, should I buy this one or a circular saw?
        Thanks

        • +5

A jigsaw is good for relatively short depth cuts, and where you need to change directions or curve. A Circular Saw is for deeper cuts, and straight lines only.

          • @MisterQ: Thanks. Is 2cm thick timber considered thick?

            • +1

@Averell: No, I do not think so. If you refer to the image in the Ad on Bunnings, it is used for a timber that looks more than 5cm or so.

            • +2

@Averell: IF it's precision then a thing to realize about Jigsaw blades is that they are thinner than Circ saw blades, and such more prone to flexing on deeper cuts, ergo less accurate.

        • +3

Circular but jigsaw is less risky on your fingers.

      Making jigsaw puzzles

    • A while ago someone wanted to charge me $400 to install a dog flap on a hardwood door.

It was a no brainer to just buy this jigsaw for $129 and do it myself.

  • +1

That's theft at that price 🤣

  • Great tool, especially for floorboards

  • +1

The battery and charger might probably cost more than the tool itself.

Edit: Checked Bunnings site: Basic battery plus charger = $105. So $70+$105=$175. Is that still a good price guys?

    • +1

There's two great combo deals going at the moment with 2x batteries, a charger, container/bag, and tools.

3 piece, 2x 2.0ah, $177 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/745780 (The impact driver in this alone was $109 recently.)

      And

      4 piece, 1x 2.0ah + 1x 4.0ah, $265 (This was $400) https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/745766

If you were thinking of starting a kit, one of those combo's + this skin is a crazy good bargain right now. I did exactly that, jumped on the 4 piece kit and this jigsaw. Almost half price.

That and/or get the one of the combos, flog the tools, and just keep the batteries / charger and you'd be grinnin

    • Check your local cashies, ryobi chargers can be found frequently for 15-20, and clearanced for even less.

We picked up 3 of ours there for $10-15.

Only get genuine though, the fakes are garbage and dangerous.

WHat do you want for Xmas, Dad. - ALready organized a Ryobi Brushless Circular Saw - I think I will pop out and buy one of these as my present to me.

  • I have an Ozito one and it's been so useful

Anyone know under $300 Can you recommend lawn mower please?

    • +4

No this jigsaw will not work as a lawnmower

      • +1

        Not with that attitude.

        • But if he lies horizontal it will.

  • It brushless ?

  • Purchased in store at Thomastown Vic.
    Bargain

  • Just got one. Thanks heaps and Merry Christmas :)

  • Waiting for a multitool deal!

  • +1

Should I buy it? Not sure if I can find some timber to cut…

    • What’s your house made of?

One of the several important life lessons imparted to me by my late father..

      1. You can never have too many powertools or too much fishing tackle.

      2. Measure Twice, cut once. (No, he wasn't a chippie, he was an accountant…)

      3. Opinions are like arseholes. Everyone has one, and no one likes the smell of anyone else's… But if you don't use them, you will swell up and explode…

  • +3

Thanks for sharing, and very good price.

Too bad its not brushless or nuclear fusion or fission.

    Bought one anyway!

Plenty of stocks at Dural Bunnings, item is still marked full price on the shelf but will scan $69.

  • I already got this bosch green from many years ago https://www.amazon.com.au/Bosch-Cordless-Jigsaw-Without-Batt…. On the odd occasions I needed to use it, it's been very lacklustre in power, keep stalling when trying to bend around the corner. Maybe it's user error but will this thing be an improvement?

  • Wow this is awesome. Thanks OP. Ordered for click and collect.

  • Plenty of these at Bunnings Pymble, they were still marked as the original price, no wonder no one noticed.

It is a steal at this price, need it for some small jobs during holiday season, wonderful, Thanks OP.

  • picked one up at Brendale, didn't even have the orange markdown tag and Bunnings lady wasn't aware of it

  • anyone know where i can get Battery and Charger for a good price?

    • +1

If you have other branded batteries, consider adaptor (I use DeWalt to Ryobi so I can take advantage of 5 DeWalt 5Ah packs.

  • +1

annoying you can't use their gc online

Ignoring tool environment as I have neither of these. Which is better? The ozito or Ryobi?

  • No one:

Cordless Jigsaw: Wanna play a little game?

  • Love the constructicon inspired colour.

  • +1

    Nice + 30 cents.

  • This is a good jigsaw. I bought it eventhough my battery set is Makita. Using an adapter, but this Ryobi jigsaw doesn't miss a beat.

  • +2

Picked one up. Great price! Thank you for sharing.

JFYI - for any Bosch, Makita and Milwaukee, DeWalt and AEG 18v power tool users. You can buy something called a 'Badaptor' from Amazon for around $50 + Delivery (Free delivery on Amazon Prime). It allows you to use their batteries with Ryobi tools. Definitely opens you up to a broader power tool range. I have the bosch Badaptor and it's awesome! Links to some of Badaptors below:

  • Good deal; picked one up.

  • Thanks OP

  • bought this half year ago at full price :(

Let me guess, it is still in the box and you haven’t even used it?

    • when it goes back to full price, you could just return it for store credit.

  • Pretty much OOS

  • Got this one. Thanks OP

  • I ordered this a couple of days ago.

Bunnings just called to say they had a huge run on the item and were sold out in all the stores in the area.

  • Just a quick thanks to OP for a good bargain. Have to give back my borrowed jigsaw and this looks pretty good for the cheaper end of the market. Ordered on Christmas Day for C&C from Hawthorn Melb and picked up today. Was the only store within 10Km with stock but now gone though I see there are still a couple of Melb stores which report stock. The Bunnings website stock by store is a good start in that regard, except like others I've driven a long way only to find it was wrong. So strongly recommend a call first, or C&C and wait for confirmation its yours. Again, nice one cheapas88.

  • This thing is big and heavy even before you add the battery. Kinda looks like a Fisher Price toy. For less than 70, if your in the Ryobi ecosystem already, its a bargain.

  • Got 1 today when I picked up the 4pc pack at $265, cant complain with value.

  • Finally found stock and the price has now doubled. I thought it might have been reduced for clearance.
