1 Year Accor Plus Explorer Membership Family and Friends A$199 @ Accor Australia

3070

Saw the deal via Hong Kong

https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/767946?page=1

Saw in comments there's a $199 deal for family and friends but the link didn't work for me so I contacted live chat and they gave me a link that worked for me. I thought it deserved it's own deal as the benefits as stated by commenter included keeping your Accor points plus no need for VPN, no currency conversion plus it's about $10 cheaper.

Accor Plus Explorer benefits include one free night accommodation, 50% off dining when there's two people, access Red Room 50% off deals and silver status

EDIT: Thanks to @vbhaven I logged on to cashrewards in mobile browser, then earched Accor, followed the link, then copy and pasted the link from this deal and it tracked. 7%. Good luck!

      • do they count kids?

      • Some events are excluded from the discount. It normally tells you when you make a reservation.

      • Alcohol is excluded from the discount. But for the food yes it's definitely worth it.

    • No, if the restaurant is having a promo then you do not get the discount at all.

      • This! Just called my local restaurant and specials are excluded.

    • Only 1 discount can apply, sometimes the daily special is better value sometimes accorplus

  • Is breakfast generally included in their hotels ?

    • Would like to know too.

    • +2

No, breakfast isn't included for free with Accor Plus.

    • Like most hotels they will sometimes have rates that include breakfast, but the free night is always without breakfast (although you can use the 50% off if two people are having breakfast).

    • Absolutely not for most.

  • Would this be worldwide or just Aus?

    • Worldwide but heavily restricted outside of ANZ and Asia I believe, but someone managed to find rooms available in Paris I think. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

    • +1

It is really really good for Asia. I use it extensively in Thailand.

      • +1

I would like to know, what do you use often? The meal discount or hotel discount (not sure if they have one besides free night)? I just want to see value.

        • +1

Hotel free night and discounts and then yes the restaurant deals. The great thing about Bangkok for example is that they have many hotel restaurants all over the city. You don't just get the discount at the hotel you are staying at but can visit a number of different restaurants each night and get the discount.

Brisbane for example not as much fun as not so many Accor hotels here.

          • @gviddy: Thanks. Good to know.

          • @gviddy: How were the hotel restaurants around Bangkok? Is it much better than the casual Thai restaurant? I'm doing a first trip to Thailand so thinking of getting the membership

            • +1

@Magicmagic: Some of their premium hotel have really amazing restaurants.

            • @Magicmagic: The best I visited was at the Sofitel in Bangkok. Really, really nice. Amazing service and food. This is the hotel restaurant and not the rooftop restaurant. The restaurants at Mercure and Novotel are your standard restaurants, which of course are of high quality. I'd be interested in visiting the Sofitel So as I would assume their restaurant would be top notch. But yeah they do things really well in Bangkok. :)

        • The red hot rooms are normally cheaper upto 40% off the quoted price if your membership as well which helps.

  • Anyone know if this includes a luxury room at Sofitel Broadbeach? It's currently $599 member price, whereas the classic room is $409. Would I need to pay the difference?

    • +1

All hotels are the lowest base room. You pay the difference to upgrade

  • I often use the free hotel night in Thailand. They have a heap of hotels you can book through. Booking the Sofitel gives the best bang for buck! Recently I was checking Melbourne and for instance the Mercure in Epping was available for a free nights stay on a Friday night.

Half price dinners are limited in that if the restaurant is doing a promo that night then you dont get the discount. However you always get 15% off your drinks in Asia.

    • What would you recommend for Thailand to make the most of the membership? I've booked a trip there.

      • Depends on dates of travel and availability of rooms. More premium the hotel the more advance you have to book ahead.

      • +1

I find it really good because they have so many hotels in Thailand. Doing a search of Bangkok or Phuket you can come up with over 10 different hotels with free night stays. Novotel, Mercure. Really good hotels. And then so many restaurants to choose because each hotel then has their own restaurants.

Recent searches have not has the Sofitel come up with a free night but I have in the past used my free night to stay at the Bangkok Sofitel. Amazing hotel!

I've also used the free night at Novotel Vintage Park Phuket which has an awesome swimming pool and is close to the main walking street and few blocks from the beach.

    • Can you please have a look at this link and let me know rate / if you can use free night. Not sure if I should consider joining.

    • Anyone with any insight on something similar for hotels in the US?

  • "50% off dining when there's two people" does that include your drinks?

    • +1

      Drinks are separate I believe

    • I know that in Asia you get 15% off drinks. I do not think this applies in Aus though.

      • -3

        It does.

        • +2

No it doesn't. 15% off drinks is ASIA ONLY.

    • +1

It's not supposed to. However, I regularly recieved 50% my whole breakfast order using it in Brisbane and gold coast when there were two of us dining.

    • Only in south east Asia, not Australia

  • +2

    access Red Room

Is it more of a room like in Twin Peaks or in The Shining?

    • +1

      It's just discount/sale rooms.

    • +1

      Yes, discount still applies.

  • Going to Japan soon. Anywhere with free nights in Tokyo or Kyoto?

    • although i didn't book it, it's available @ Pullman Tokyo Tamachi which is some $600/night according to Google Maps.

there are plenty of availability amongst the ibis and mercures too

      • Thanks worth a shot!

        • Depends on dates as well. Good luck aiming for Cherry Blossom season if that's your plan.

  • Any properties in India?

  • offer looks nice !! Planning trip to Singapore for first week of Jan next year .. any hotels available in Singapore during that time

    Thanks!!!!

  • +2

Booked Sofitel Sydney on a long weekend. Thanks

    • hey, was wondering what dates did you book? No matter what dates I choose, I cannot see the Sofitel Sydney in the search results!

      • I booked 1st October check in (Labour day public holiday on the 2nd). The room rate was ~$500 without using a plus stay, so saved $300 by signing up for Accor Plus.

        • Ah ok thanks for the info!

  • +2

Thanks OP this is a great deal at this price! I let my membership lapse before because I felt I wasn't getting much use out of it and was forcing myself to stay in my own city to use up the free night. At $199 it definitely pays for itself just from the 1 night not to mention all the food discounts.

  • What would happen for renewal? Can you cancel the membership and sign up for another one for the discount again?

  • Thanks OP,

For a sample booking at the sofitel in Adelaide, the cheapest room is around $350 a night so that is what the benefit is worth, ie for your $199 investment you get an additional $150 in value.

So if you want to know if this is for you - The calculation is ($Cheapest room in the hotel you are looking at) - ($199).

I imagine people looking to stay in the Sydney CBD etc would get great value out of this.

    • Yes I am a member and find it is worthwhile if you travel a lot. I save so much more on hotel bookings throughout the year when compared to a booking site such as Expedia. And the savings at high quality restaurants is well worth it too. I will usually hold out and book Sofitel to get best value on the free night. Yes it isn't always available but with the amount of travel I do then I quite often get a free night and discount at Sofitels in Asia.

  • Can someone who has membership check if a free room is available this saturday in Hobart 2 people

    • +3

Mantra on collins, movenpick and ibis styles all showing free rooms available this saturday. Only movenpick ($216) is more than $199 to book directly though. So hardly worth it.

      • +1

        Thanks for looking

  • Signed up for Accor Plus to stay at a particular hotel on the Gold Coast. It showed up when selecting stay plus before becoming a member, then when I'm a member and i go to book, it says stay plus isn't available at this location. Seems like blatant false advertising. I'll be cancelling my membership.

    • +1

or letting it lapse? you don't get your money back if you cancel.

      • There's a cooling off period. I was able to cancel my membership even after it.

  • Is this per year ?

    • Yes, it says 1 year in the title

  • Can you let someone else use the membership for the 50% off dining? :D

    • +2

No, you'd need to pay extra for supplementary card. I had someone check my details before when using the card!

      • Depending on the restaurant. I used 50% just by showing my Accor Plus card from the app and nobody asked for my driving licence.

  • What if we still have active membership? If we purchase it, will it overlap or automatically starts at the end of current membership?

    • I am curious about this too.

    • Was about to ask this. Have one already, do they tack on the extra free night or too bad?

  • When this expires I guess renewal would be at the normal rate?

  • Keen to know when this deal expires as no travel till July

  • +1

Guys be aware that you will hardly get any hotel night stay that's worth more than the $200, I joined and ended up getting hotels up to $200, not saying you can't but you have to be lucky.
I kinda regret it because there was a better hotel for $50 that I wanted to book but it wasn't part of the promotion.

    • +1

Depends on where you're going. I found hotels in Asia that's at least worth $500 as a free stay

    • +1

      That is not true.

  • Is there a way of looking at availability of hotels prior to signup? Thanks

  • Does anyone know if the 50% off dining benefit applies to breakfast / buffet breakfast?

    • It has at all the places I have stayed.

    • Confirm it applies to buffet dining as well (used it previously)

  • Would anyone be able to check what hotels are valid in Melbourne to get an idea on the value…? Thanks
Edit - all good - found the doc someone posted on page 1.
Question - what is seen as their higher end hotels? Sofitel? Arts series?

    • Sofitel, Fairmont, Banyan Tree, Raffles etc are luxury. Free stay may only apply to the first two though.

  • If anyone could kindly please check for me any dates in any of Tokyo, Osaka or Kyoto for any day(s) b/w 26th Sept to 7th Oct?

    • Replying to this to as it’s on topic.

Could anyone please also check Singapore for 21-23 October?

      • There are lots of options, but seems like the max discount is about $150-250

        • Thanks. Are any of the options Pullman Orchard, Swissotel or Fairmont by any chance?

          • @ol mate: Pullman Orchard for about $250 off, cost of 2 nights at Fairmont = $440, Swissotel for $410

    • Nvm, I got the membership

    • I'll see U there, literally visiting on very similar dates.. 😂

  • +1

So the only reason I want to get value from this is via the resturants. I dont want to travel around and get denied, do the resturants all accept the card and are chill about it? Last thing I want is to drive out and get that arkward sorry we don't know about the 50% off type of thing.

    • check website before dining
