1 Year Accor Plus Explorer Membership Family and Friends A$199 @ Accor Australia

3070

Saw the deal via Hong Kong

https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/767946?page=1

Saw in comments there's a $199 deal for family and friends but the link didn't work for me so I contacted live chat and they gave me a link that worked for me. I thought it deserved it's own deal as the benefits as stated by commenter included keeping your Accor points plus no need for VPN, no currency conversion plus it's about $10 cheaper.

Accor Plus Explorer benefits include one free night accommodation, 50% off dining when there's two people, access Red Room 50% off deals and silver status

EDIT: Thanks to @vbhaven I logged on to cashrewards in mobile browser, then earched Accor, followed the link, then copy and pasted the link from this deal and it tracked. 7%. Good luck!

Phone the restaurant first. I am yet to find a restaurant at an Accor hotel who does not accept this. The only issue I have come across is if they are running a promo then you will not get the discount on top.

      • +1

Yep, that was what I found too. Sometimes the discount will only apply to some of the dining venues if a hotel has a few different options.
When I went to Bangkok I just emailed all the hotels I was interested in beforehand to confirm.
One of the 5 star places ended up being about the same price for meals as the local markets.

        • Yeah I used it at the Sofitel in Bangkok. Free room for one of the nights, cheap eat in their restaurant, and 15% off drinks at dinner. What a deal !!

      • +1

Swissotel Sydney only gives 10% discount, there are others that have diverging policies

  • Anyone getting this error Error: ErrCode (1010) : Database Connection Error to update Orders.

    • I had the same issue. You need to log out to proceed but use the same email as your previous account.

  • Thanks OP, got the AUD 13.93 cash rewards too

    • Please tell me steps on how u did it?

        • Thanks mate

        • Thank you, it works for me!

        • Seems easier than what I did. I installed the Chrome extension just to make sure it’s activated.
          Happy to see it tracking.

          • @1bargain: I installed the Chrome extension, activated the offer but the CB hasn't tracked yet…

            • @dealsforlife: Did you see the Cashrewards pop up while doing the transaction? It was always there when I entered details and went through many pages. Then when I chose Paypal, it disappeared so I didn't go ahead and went back to input my credit card.

Maybe you paid with Paypal and it took you to another page so it didn't track?

              • @1bargain: Yes I saw the pop-up and clicked activate. I paid with my credit card. If it doesn't appear on my transactions by Friday, I will contact CR. Thanks for your reply.

  • can you combine two memberships to book two free consecutive nights?

    • they don't like it. though if under different names it's probably doable. contact hotel directly to combine the bookings so you don't have to move rooms.

  • Could anyone check for free hotel availability in Sydney on June 2nd or 3rd? Thank you.

    • +1

You're in luck, lots available 2nd of June including the Sofitel Darling Harbour, probably the best hotel available for this deal in Sydney. Don't forget 50% off dining at their Atelier restaurant which just won two AGFG chef hats! (Not to be confused with SMH Good Food Guide hats).

3rd of June is slim pickings unfortunately, only six options in the CBD with Novotel Sydney Central your best bet with a relatively large 32m room and 2 double beds.

That date also has Mercure Sydney, looks like they've updated their rooms, it was horrible when I stayed in 2017. Location is a bit meh next to Central Station. Depends what you're in Sydney for.

You could also stay at Pullman Olympic Park and train it in. But I'd definitely choose to come in the 2nd and stay at Sofitel Darling Harbour!

      • wow thank you for checking it for me.

yes definitely I will choose to stay at Sofitel Darling Harbour.

How long does it take after joining to be able to book the free stay?
I tried to book the free night on the app but kept getting an error.
Now I don't see the free night on my account anymore.
Contacted customer service and they said it can take 24-48hrs for membership to be processed.

  • I found it difficult to find free stays in regional areas for any dates. Quite a bit of availability in Melbourne though including weekends and decent hotels.

  • Do people just stay for one night and move to a different hotel for the rest?

    • +1

horses for courses. some people see it as a % discount if they're staying multiple nights. some take a staycation. and i'm sure some move hotels because they don't mind the hassle.

  • how do i get the 7% cashback rewards with this deal?

    • Check pman54's comment a few comments above yours

  • Can someone please check what hotels are available for Perth? Thanks many

  • Can I use an existing Accor account? It doesn’t seem to want to let me log in during the sign up process

    • +2

I wasnt logged in when I made the purchase, but afterwards when I did login using my existing account (same email I used during Accor Plus purchase) they were all automatically linked together

      • Thanks mate I have lots of bookings already wanted to make sure. Legend

      • @isthisreallife22 did you have active membership when you purchased? What happen with the current and the new memberships?

        • I was referring to a regular Accor All account and making sure the new plus account would link to the existing one, which is just did, it obviously uses email address as per the advice above

  • can someone please check Ibis Hotel Orange May 26-27 if the Queen plus 3 singles room is available?

  • +1

looks like it can't be used at Peppers Cradle Mountain :(

  • What would be the fanciest place you would be able to stay in Melbourne with this?

    • +1

I think the Pullman on the Park looks pretty nice. Have not stayed there but the rooms on the website look pretty nice. Across the road from the MCG too.

      • You could get a free stay there on Sat 22nd April. Go to the footy. :)

      • It's not bad, this is where I burned my credit last year (because I couldn't find anywhere that aligned with our travel plans that I could use it or that didn't devalue it to some small discount off of a base room)

The hotel is nice but the restaurant is not so good

  • I just purchased. Email says activate your membership now. If I delay activation till a few weeks later, do you think it will start that date or from today?

    • You should be able to check your profile and should say your status. Mine was activated right away

      • Ok, I was hoping to delay as long as possible but if it’s activated right away then I better use it today.

    • Mine says valid till 30 April 2024 so I think it's up to the end of the calendar month which you registered.

  • Accor Plus Explorer Plus (MY) gives 2 nights for ~A$372

or Accor Plus Discovery (AU) with 1 free stay + "Amazing cruise, tour and wine offers worldwide" for $300 instead of $429

    https://www.accorplus.com/au/registration/?bc=36

    • With CR, the AU deal is cheaper than the MY deal on a per stay free night basis

      • +1

Also having two memberships means 4 people can dine for 50% off, instead of 25% off

  • Cashrewards 7% tracked for me after I followed through the link then copy and pasted link to this deal. OP updated!

  • +1

People have been asking about the deal. I just did a search of Melbourne for Saturday night 22nd April for one night.

The amount of free hotels are 17. These include Mercure Soutbank, Mercure Albert Park, Pullman on the Park. Sebel Melbourne. The Chen Melbourne. And more.

Then for $10 you can stay at Novotel Melbourne Central. $20 for a night at Peppers Docklands.

    • What’s the average price of these hotels?

    • Any chance you could do a search for Phuket for 20th May? Would love to know if it's worth joining

      • +1

Yep. 12 free properties. Some include Novotel Phuket Resort, Novotel Vintage Park (I have stayed here, amazing swimming pool! and close to Walking Street), Pullman Phuket Arcadia, Grand Mercure Patong, Pullman Panwa Beach Resort.

        • Thanks! Very much appreciated:)

    • I've just joined but I don't see where you search for free nights?

      • +2

Go to the Accor Plus website. Login. Select Stay and then do a search. Click the Stay Plus toggle if you want to search for free nights. They should be paying me for this. ;)

        • Thanks I've done that before but the rates still show up (some as high as 800 USD in London). There's no mention of a free night when I do the Stay Plus search

          • @jumbokevin: Keep in mind that there's less choices in Europe, there's blackout periods such as public holidays and some of the nicer hotels only have weekdays outside of school holidays.

            • @NoApostrophePlurals: I've done a search in Sydney too and all the hotels are still showing up with numerical rates via the Stay Plus search!! Where does it tell you that a free night is available?

              • @jumbokevin: It should say FREE where the price is. As an example search Melbourne 22nd April and you will see a heap of free hotels. Sydney most likely have the free nights not available at the time of your search.

                • @gviddy: Thanks, it's working now. I think it just took a bit of time for the system to recognise I was eligible for free nights. Sydney and London are showing free nights now :)

              • @jumbokevin: Could you please look at Brisbane from 4 to 16/5 please? Thanks in advance

        • Maybe they are? associate gviddy haha

I ordered a few hours ago and got a Payment reference number. But no confirmation email yet and no pending transaction on credit card. Is that normal?

    • My Amex got charged straight away and the welcome email came along with a Receipt email within a minute or two. Also my Accor All app was up to date straight away with the status and free night

    • Same boat as you..almost. but a deduction has been made on my CC.
No confirmation email. Chat to the Live chat, who insist that it will take 24-48 hrs for this to be processed Automatically!

      will see..

Update: Confirmation received after 6 hrs.

  • Anyone know if the Discovery Plus package is worth it?

    • I'm not sure it is the same thing, but it appears that many chains & other companies have links to the Discovery package.
For example, you can get it free for the first year through IGA rewards:
      https://igarewards.com.au/travel-deals/
Again, I'n not sure if it is the same thing, but it sort of looks the same.

  • Its not much more than $200 but could someone please check if this would this work for Hotel de la Coupole in Sapa, Vietnam? First 2 weeks of September.

    • Last I checked it was fine but not sure about availability as I haven't renewed my Accor Plus.

Here is a really good read on the benefits. Pros and Cons. https://flighthacks.com.au/accor-plus-membership/

I'm a member and did not even realise you can get discounts on Qatar.

    • I’m a solo traveler so thanks for the heads up I get 25% off for solo dining

      • +1

I've heard of people booking for 2 people at restaurants and some nice staff will honor the 50% off even when solo.

    • Hi
Could you please do me a favor - would you please check if Sofitel Sydney is available 28-29 April. Can I only search once I am a member?

      Thank you

    • Someone else that's worth mentioning is Qatar and Accor have reciprocal elite benefit. So if you've got Qatar Platinum you can go straight to gold with just one stay. Same goes if you have Accor Diamond you get Qatar Platinum status.

    • I had the same issue. You need to log out to proceed but use the same email as your previous account.

I think the Malaysia deal is still fine ? It’s easy to use two complimentary nights.

    • This plus cashrewards is less than half the price for half the free nights, with the same benefits. this is cheaper

      • +1

Wait .. so can 1 person have 2x memberships ? Or even 3 or 4 memberships ? Because it’s cheaper to buy an Accor membership than book the room full price.

        • +1

That's not really the point though. Your deal was roughly the same price for 2 stay free nights, but both give you access to the 12 months of accor plus benefits like the dining benefit and red hot rooms, 10% off rooms, etc

So in your case that extra $200 gives you only one extra night, all of the other perks are already included for both. So let's say you got $100 value out of the stay plus night, you could still break even with the dining benefits for another $100, but if you have 2 stay plus nights for double the price your second night has to be worth $200 to just break even.

A lot of people will think that's an easy feat but it is not. I've been a member previously and between participating hotels, the fact it's a standard room only and everything else requires paid upgrade, blackout periods and availability and the fact that you can end up with unintended consequences (eg your 4 night stay ends up only $100 cheaper when one night is Stay Plus because 4 nights meets the criteria for a reduced rate, removing that 4th night increases the rate for the rest of the nights) I would not say you would be anywhere near assured of getting $200 value out of that night.

So if I took the whole package into account, for $199 you'd definitely do okay because the dining benefit adds up, I last purchased this membership for $399 and no way did I get $399 of value out of it. The MY package may just break even if you use it enough, but $199 + cashrewards discount is actually a killer deal, because you end up forking out about $170, get 1 stay plus night and all the 12 month benefits. It's about the only offer I'd take up from Accor based on how little value I got from this last time around.

Honestly, if cheaper rooms is your goal, just book during a sale. Accor Plus is only good if you heavily leverage the benefits such as dining. The "free night" is not free, you're directly paying for it.

          • +2

@trotsky: I was able to book 3 consecutive nights at the Sofitel for the Sydney to Hobart yacht race. That was itself an incredible value. Platinum status was the Cherry on top as their executive lounge evening canape was simply amazing.

            • +1

@nightelves: Not sure what that has to do with Accor Plus? You're saying you got 3 stay plus nights and accor platinum from an accor plus subscription? How?

              • +1

@trotsky: During covid Accor let you bank rollover 1 stay plus night. Therefore when it came to renewing my membership I had three stay plus nights banks up. Went ahead and booked the Sofitel Darling Harbour one stay plus at a time even though it's against the rules and was able to stay for those 3 nights.

          • +2

@trotsky: Happy to be corrected but I bought the MY deal just for the 2 complimentary stays and booked the Sofitel and Fairmont in Singapore for next year which go for $500 each. I think if one is after two nights and can secure them both at 5 star and happy to move hotels, the MY deal is better?

            • +1

@nomnomnom: Maybe, I can only say maybe because I am no longer an Accor Plus member and can't search on the exact offering for Stay Plus nights for those properties. IF indeed you are able to book rooms when you need them and you are paying absolutely nothing, then you're getting around $405 of value for that $200 (I say $405 because if the going rate is $500 and you get 10% ALL discount + the 10% Accor Plus discount on bookings, that's the actual return)

If that's the case - and that wasn't my experience at all (I found any premium hotels had some dodgy valuation system they'd use to calculate what a Stay Plus discount "should" be), then why not sign up yourself, your kids and your pets to MY deal? You could save a fortune.

          • +1

@trotsky: You can reasonably book Sofitel or Swisshotel for Friday night .. I feel like a room for $200/night is a good deal. Better than 10% off ..

            • +1

@Savas: It depends doesn't it - if you stay for 10 nights somewhere and you get 10% off, you just got a free night. And this isn't a Stay Plus free night which is not a free night as you're paying $200 for it, this is an actual free night, anytime you like, anywhere you like.

This is my point about the 12 months of membership - for that 12 months you're getting dining discount (50% for 2 adults) and booking discounts, if you use it regularly it could potentially be way more valuable than one free night.

              But as always, it depends.

    • +1

Cant book the two nights in a row (Malaysian deal)

  • Thoughts on whether this is beneficial to a Platinum Accor member?

    • +1

AccorPlatinum doesn’t come with AccorPlus dining benefits?

    • Are you close to the end of your membership year? Accor Plus extends your current status to the end of the Accor Plus expiry, so let's say you are platinum until July, and you sign up now, you'll be platinum until mid-april 2024.

That worked the opposite way to a lot of us though - I got the ALL Qantas gold promotion during my accor plus membership year, it was meant to be for 12 months, I lost it after about 2 months when my Accor Plus expired and I didn't renew, whereas other accor members who didn't pay for Accor Plus got it for the whole 12 months - so it goes both ways

      • +1

Yep, this is what happened to me, and. was super annoyed.

  • thanks OP, registered

  • Great price. Great deal!

  • Just joined HK site before see AU option :-(
