Resharing this guide after previous deal post marked as expired

Roughly a year ago Spotify and Google play store made a press release stating that they were going to be trialing Google Pay and Merchant Pay. I checked it regularly and within the last week or two it has finally been added!

METHOD:

Pre-existing spotify account:
I Smell Pennies @OB

New/ Free Accounts

Blue Stacks (PC) - IOS alternative/ android back up method:
Iangh @OB

Android:

  1. Set up a Google Play account with a Turkish payment profile - after looking to save myself some effort this deal by alcheron's comment explains it pretty well - thanks SuBw00FeR for helping me find the correct one
  2. Download and/or open Spotify
  3. Go to the get premium tab on the bottom right of the home screen
  4. Select any plan
  5. Scroll to the bottom of the payment where it says your country
  6. Change country to Türkiye
  7. Click the change plan key (had one account have issues signing up which this solved)
  8. Select the plan you want
  9. Click Google Pay
  10. Select your Turkish payment profile
  11. Select/ enter the card you want to use

To add family members:

  1. On the head account go to: https://www.spotify.com/tr-tr/account/family/ and get the link
  2. Follow that link on the child account, enter in the same address as is on the head account (I used an NZ one and it worked, just make sure they are the same)
  3. I experienced issues adding one account, it was saying it was from a different account to the head - if you get this issue on their account go to: https://www.spotify.com/tr-tr/account/profile/ and check what country is listed. If it is New Zealand/Aus/anywhere other than turkey get them to connect via turkish VPN (I used PIA) and it'll give them the option to change it to Turkey
  4. They can then follow the same family link and use the same address as the head account and it should work now

And you're now sorted with what I believe is the cheapest Spotify Premium price currently available.

This method is imo less effort, cheaper, and doesn't need to be renewed, like the previously available cheap Spotify option posted on OzBargain

  • Can someone do one for Amazon prime Turkey MFRS jacked up the price

  • Can you please tell me which Turkey address to use for google pay profile?

    • You can use any Turkey address

Any else getting the Your transaction can't be completed. To continue this transaction use a different payment instrument or contact us. anyone have a fix for this? Brand new google account set as turkey created while NordVPN was connected to a turkey server. Also created a turkey Spotify and seeing the turkey prices but still getting this error. Billing address etc set to turkey

    • I'm getting the same

    • Having the same issues with NordVPN

    • same, using VPN.lat. Couldn't get this far on Windscribe.

  • "Error. Google Play purchases are not supported in your country. Unfortunately you will not be able to complete purchases." Shame

    • getting the same error sad

    • Anyone have a solution to this error?

      • +1

I got the same error and my solution was brutal but it worked. If you're turkish account is on your phone and there are other non Turkey google accounts on your phone, Spotify defaulted to them. I removed the other google accounts by going to settings —> accounts —> remove account (non turkey account). I then cleared cache and data from google play store and killed and relaunched spotify with VPN active. After this, the price showed in TRY and was able to follow google pay with only turkey account logged in.

  • oddly I didnt even have to use VPN on my phone to change the country to turkey and setup the payment. My google account was previously set to turkey for the youtube premium deal, all i did was wait for my spotify premium to expire. Go into the app, tap 'premium' on bottom right, scroll to the bottom - theres a tiny button to change region, default is still Australia. Change it to turkey then proceed to checkout, I selected Google play as payment option, went through fine.

  • Anyone that got the family plan down to add me and i'll pay my share?

  • can't do that, it says subscription not available

  • This doesnt work. google chat says they block ip and payment cards

  • This deal is great if you can get it. Most of the recent comments in this thread have been about errors and it looks like it no longer works.

    • Sure does work and I’ve been able to add 4 others on a family plan using this method

      • Care to share a few variables which may help it to work for others?

        • Which VPN?
        • Which bank payment card?
        • Credit or Debit card?
        • Age of Google account? (E.g. was it a new account just for this or an existing account?)
        • What date it worked ( in case it's just stopped in the last few days)
        • +1

          Nord vpn
Google pay linked to Revolut virtual debit card
Very old google account ie not new
          Worked when I posted this
Added additional family members this week

  • Anyone know of anything that works on IOS (Apple)?

  • +1

    Doesnt seem to work

  • I'm reading some mixed messages on the impact to existing accounts. Can someone please confirm if I have an existing Google account (including Pay), and an existing Spotify account, and I wish to retain all of my existing purchase history, payment settings, playlists, etc., will moving to Turkey and then back wipe some of this stuff out?

If I create new Turkey accounts, can I add my existing accounts to the subscription without having to fiddle around with existing account settings? (Presumably the drawback of this option is I would need to sign up for a family account, even if I intend to be the only user?)

    Thanks!

    Doesn't work!!!

  • I tried EVERYTHING with this one, to no avail, so I changed to Philippines and it worked. Just a bit more expensive, but still totally a deal.

    • Does Philippines have Google Play billing too?
I think India is cheaper Turkey, but I don't know if they have Google Play billing

      • +1

Yes, I paid using Google Pay

        • How? I only have a Turkey profile and it still rejects it?
All my payment attempts are being rejected due to country/card mismatch. CC/Gpay/Paypal

          • @ChocTop: Sounds like you're trying to use a Turkey Google profile to pay for a Philippines Spotify subscription? Of course that'll fail lol

          • @ChocTop: To be clear: I restarted the process from the very beginning, but with Philippines instead of Turkey. So I didn't use any of the Turkish accounts I had created, only the Filipino ones.

  • Any way for this to possibly get working for iOS?

  • Finally got this deal working on android with pre-existing Spotify and google accounts! I tried a bunch of times and eventually it worked by doing the following:

    1. Change my country to Turkey in Spotify settings while connected to NordVPN Turkey server. Did this step on PC.
    2. Created a Turkish payment profile on my old google account and removed all my other payment profiles except for the Turkish one. Did this step on PC.
    3. Rebooted my android and immediately logged into NordVPN Turkey server.
    4. Opened Spotify and opened the premium tab. My country was already selected as Turkey.
    5. The default solo plan was already selected so I clicked change plan and selected 'Aile' which means 'Family'
    6. Then I selected Pay with google option and it opened up a screen for me to input my payment method

After inputting my card details the payment went through and I was subscribed to Spotify family plan for less than $4. Hope this works out for you guys!
Will update if I'm able to/struggle with adding other accounts onto the plan.

    • Did you have a Turkish or Australian address in your payment profile and credit card?

      • Turkish address for the google payment profile. The payment screen didn't ask for an address, just card details so I used my standard debit card which is linked to an Australian address.

        • was adding family members easy?

          • @Charlieeee: It wasn't too difficult, I just followed the steps outlined in the original post. I had set an Australian address for the Spotify account and trying to add family members came up with an error stating that the member was not in the same location/country as the parent. Managed to sort it out by having the family member account switch their Spotify country to Turkey and then it let them use the Australian address to join the family plan.

  • I am getting this error: "error your tranSACTIOn cannot be completed , use a different payment instement or contact us?"

I have tried 4 different address, have google play acc of turkey as well as the payment method is turkey too.

    someone help plz

I just signed up to Spotify Turkey on Tuesday 23 May 2023, so I can confirm this is still working.

I am an existing spotify user (paid full price premium for about 7 years), then went free earlier this year. Managed to get my account transferred across, with my playlist history intact.

Initially encountered all the above problems/error messages, but here's what I did that worked for me:
I used Blue stacks, GetFlix VPN.

    With VPN set to Turkey:
    - I created a brand new google profile.
    - I noticed that you need an address and postcode before Google 'sets' your profile to Turkey (I'm speculating here, but I'm guessing this is the cause of a lot of errors). So I used a Turkish address from bestrandoms.com. You only need a street name and you need to separately google the postcode.
    - I linked my AUS credit card to google
    - Ran blue stacks - the playstore should default to Turkey. Downloaded Spotify from the Turkish Playstore.
    - Logged into my existing Spotify account using this newly downloaded app, swapped country to 'Turkey'.
    - Opted to upgrade to Family plan and paid with google pay, and it went through instantly.

To add family members, their base country must be set to Turkey (they'll need VPN), and the address must match yours (can be an Aus address)

    Hope that helps.

    • Thanks very much for the info regarding Bluestacks, much easier than starting new on a phone/device. Your steps have helped me bypass all the errors I had. Definitely need a dedicated google profile with a Turkey address. Also for payment, I had to tell my bank that I was overseas (in Turkey) before the payment went through.

Yay. If my post helped even one person, then it was worth the while. :)

  • Under choose how to pay is there a reason why it has to be google pay? Why not select spotify and enter card details directly?

    • It'll say your credit card country (Aus) and country of origin (Turkey) do not match.

  • Still working, just signed up. Thanks OP

  • Worked for me. I didn't get the Google Pay payment method until I accessed the 'Android' settings in Bluestacks and logged in with the Google account I setup. Took me to an entirely different 'Premium' screen then. Thanks, OP!

    • hi me same here no Google pay payment method
could you help clarify how to get it shows up?
      thanks

  • Anyone looking for a member I want to be added in the family plan. It’s doesn’t work for me I tried or someone please help me to get this to work.

  • Can’t get it to work. Getting the ‘ Your transaction can't be completed. To continue this transaction use a different payment instrument or contact us.’ Used Revolut and Up cards. I have my google pay and Spotify region as Turkey. Have used VPN and without VPN when trying to subscribe.

    • I've tried two physical debit cards, haven't managed to get it to work :(. When you add the card, it's when you add the random turkey address right?

      • I have tried with both Australian billing address and a random Turkish address. I gave up and decided to use Youtube music instead :(

        • Ah no, I will try 1 more card, I'm getting a Tesla next month and it only supports Spotify from the main display :(

    • Yep, same here.

Wise + CBA CC - Tried both Turkey and India.

One older India account I use for YT Music, another newly created account.

Oh well, like someone else said - for the moment will stick with YT Music.

      • Ended up going down the Apple One route instead - much easier and IMO better value. Apple Music + Apple TV+, ~$6/month for a family plan.

  • So I seem to be doing everything "right", I get the 49TRY price, but my payment methods are only showing credit card.
Never, not even in Australia, does it show GPay. (Yes, I am doing this from my Android phone with cards in my Google Wallet)
If I change the country to the Philippines then I get at least PayPal as an option.
Why can't I get PayPal or better, GPay in Turkey?
    Thanks!

    • Same

    • Can you share what Aussie CC it was with?

Worked as of June 7. For me once set up google pay and spotify with turkey address/vpn and spotify showing turkey prices, I switched off vpn and worked perfectly set up family plan 3.6$~. So works but with vpn at checkout the payment kept giving error so for those getting similar thing can turn off vpn once spotify app showing tr prices (Still make sure when google pay pop up shows up that the price is still in Tr when paying)

    • omg….. so simple. This worked for me perfectly! Thank you!

  • @I Smell Pennies are there any prepaid cards we can use for the Google pay payment? Or does it always have to be a bank issued card?

  • @I Smell Pennies are there any prepaid cards we can use for the Google pay payment? Or does it always have to be a bank issued card?

  • Still works - I had to clear the Google Play cache on my phone as I Spotify said I did not have a Google Play account in Turkey.

  • looking for feedback, my pricing says 49,99TL is this correct?

    • For Family Plan? yes

      • Thanks, I wasn't sure if 49,99TL converted to $288 as when I enter it as its written in google that's what I get
