@shxhshzhz: BYD is as good as Tesla ~ 1/2 price. Extra options as bonus.
            Try TCL 20R 5G for 85 cents/mth *24m via Voda.

      • +1

        Import a Nissan leaf

      • +3

You would not post the $80 GT710 as a deal because it's the cheapest NVidia GPU in Australia.

      • +1

Find a cheaper EV in Australia.

So, If someone posts a deal for a PS5 at RRP and I find a Nintendo Switch cheaper, I can neg the PS5 deal because the Switch is cheaper?

It's RRP, and for $100 more, you can get a better car with more power and larger battery.

It would literally be faster to get out and push the Dolphin then to actually let it power itself…

  • +4

Ok there a few like me who think Tesla is ugly!

    • I hate the Tesla's with the TMNT front.

      • You mean the one modelled on Porsche?

  • +26

Would have to be either crazy or a BYD employee to get this over the base model MG4 (or really, better off spending the extra $5k for the bigger battery model)

    • +4

Dolphin has more features and equipment though, even for this base model.

      • +1

        Like what

        • +5

          From what I can tell:
          - Heated front seats
          - Driver seat is electric (height, slide and back rest)
          - Passenger seat is electric (slide and back rest)
          - 360° camera (it’s awesome, checked it out last night)
          - Massive 12.8” central screen.
          - Blind spot monitoring
          - Height adjustable boot floor
          - App functionality (remote start etc.)
          - “Base” Dolphin has more speakers (TBD whether it’s better though)

      • MG4
        More powerful
        Longer Range
        100000000000000X better looking.

        • Overall, the visibility of the MG4 & BYD Dolphin is similar. The MG4 has larger windshield & side windows, but BYD Dolphin has better rearward visibility.
Your personal taste is just personal - 100000000000000X/100000000000000X mine (for BYD Seagulll - value for money & functionality - not iPhone fashion fan ;)

  • +6

This is not a deal its full rrp, have also heard these are kinda trash

    • +10

This trash brand is top selling ev cars just behind Tesla and Tesla is actually using exactly the same battery for their cars from this trash brand.

      • +3

        Trashman has spoken.

      • +1

The Chinese are leading the way on EV agreed, but a great battery is not the only thing required for a good electric vehicle.

      • +1

I dunno, video above argues the best selling figure is BS if company buys the car.

      • +2

Ah yes, since it has the same battery as a tesla so it must be not trash. As you said the entire car revolves around a battery right? Jfc and people upvoted your comment? This seems very coordinated

      • +1

Like derelicte, trash is so hot right now.

a real dolphin will cost more

    • +1

      Sashimi or pet?

      • First one, then the other.

  • +2

DC charging 60kw… I am genuinely worrying about these cheap EVs will sit on those fast chargers (over 100kw) for a long time unnecessarily.

  • BYOC
Bring your own car, this one isn't it. Lol

  • +1

Why does it look like Walter White's car?

  • +5

Cheapest EV to get the Australians going.

  • +10

    0-100 in 12.3 seconds. Nah….for EV it's just sad.

    • +2

Yes that is the performance if you were the only one in the car.

    • +1

You could always hold out for the ‘sports’ version in 2024…

    • +1

How is it slower than a crolla.

      • +1

How is it slower than a Kia Picanto…

    • +1

Jesus do people actually give a shit about this? It's a nice figure that you'll rarely use if ever, unless you're just a bad driver.

      • Normally we don't.

For a EV this class its a shocking figure.

      • +1

The measure provides an indication of the vehicle's acceleration capabilities.
The importance of this measure can vary depending on individual preferences and specific use cases, a few factors to consider:

        1. Performance enthusiasts: For those who prioritize speed and acceleration, the 0-100 km/h time can be a crucial factor in assessing the overall performance and exhilaration of driving an EV.
        2. Safety and overtaking: The acceleration capabilities of an EV can impact its ability to perform quick maneuvers, such as overtaking other vehicles on the road. A shorter 0-100 km/h time can provide a measure of confidence in these situations.
        3. Everyday driving: While the 0-100 km/h time may not be a significant consideration for everyday commuting or regular driving scenarios, it can still contribute to a more enjoyable driving experience, particularly during merging onto highways or navigating urban traffic.

In addition, this measure can provide an indication of the motor's power and acceleration capabilities.
A shorter 0-100 km/h time generally suggests a more powerful motor and quicker acceleration.
It plays a significant role in its ability to generate torque and propel the vehicle forward rapidly and might contribute to the driving experience as a whole,

I think it is reasonable to make a general inference this car might have relatively slower acceleration at the start (e.g., at traffic lights) can contribute to a less dynamic driving experience, especially if you value quick and responsive acceleration, especially if there are loads in the car it would be even slower.
I cant imagine it can handle uphill driving very well.

This car is not built for young people lol

    • My 20 year old RAV4 can do that…. LMAO!

  • +1

A slightly odd name for a car, safe to assume it can travel under water.

    • +1

The performance of this car is about the same as a dolphin on land tho

  • EVs are too Anne Heche for me…

  • +1

This is really ugly to be fair.

  • +10

I’d personally spend a bit extra for the the newly released base MG4, but great to see competition nonetheless

  • -8

I honestly don't get why we end up paying top dollar for junk… from SAIC Motors (MG, LDV, GWM, etc…) then top it off with Chery, BYD, Haval, Great Wall… like wtf ?
The Chinese Government themselves throw this in a junk yard… plenty of news out there people…

Get a good Suzuki, Honda, a Hyundai or Kia even and it holds more reliability and resale value…

Besides this is not even a deal just the normal hiked up price for Aus…

    • +2

      Why ya hatin

      • +4

It ain't hatin when its facts… besides we have half the CCP at OZB and up voting this garbage…

        • -1

          You so mad

          • +2

@Pcosmic: yes with this combustible garbage running on our roads everyone has to have gone mad…

        • +4

Ya we are all CCP brah. You should look under your bed for communists too they are bunch of sneaky buggers stealing your VB money.

          • @Creamsoda: Absolutely either a CCP member or just a pro-Chinese for everything made in the PRC… Irrespective of how good or bad the product actually is…

    • I can’t remember the last time someone called a Suzuki good 😆

      • Well undercutting the car industry with some garbage called BYD and stating it is the "Cheapest" isn't any better…. which is why even a Suzuki would be preferred…Do keep an eye out for the new Suzuki eVX…

Also charging top dollar for this half welded piece of crap is pure theft…should cost anywhere between $10-15K Drive away… not $40k… absolute sham and a scam…

  • I want the pink one with the Dolphin graffiti

  • +7

May be an ugly car but at this price point I think it is a no brainer if you are driving most of the time around the suburbs and have solar. Charge for free on the excess solar power and never visit a petrol station again…

    • -4

I'll take a 2nd hand car anyday and save $$$. Also would save the environment by ensuring that it doesn't become scrap, and at the same time, not drive an ugly tin can built by a state-owned Chinese company, just becvause it's electric.

  • -1

what an ugly, dangerous, deathtrap piece of shit

  • +4

Competition is always good, although the MG looks like a better buy.
Don't much like the interiors of these either, BYD should bring over their Dynasty series.

  • +1

Personally I would stay away from BYD. Currently happy with my hybrid Toyota. If I change car I will still go with Toyota Hybrid.

    • +4

Toyota do produce an amazing hybrid power train. Loved my Corolla Hybrid.

  • +3

Better than the shit indian car but cmon, this is rrp.

  • +2

Wow .. even the BYD website is a Tesla rip-off copy? Lol

Anyway … waiting for Atto 4

  • +2

I like the styling of the Atto3 better… for a couple grand more I reckon that's the pick from BYD at the moment. More models coming next year though!

    • +2

The seal should be a good one if they don’t price it too high

      • As it is marketed as Tesla competitor, it is likely a bit lower.

  • +1

    front looks hideous

  • +4

    Oz marking, not a deal.
