Give me this at 20k. If not, i'll rather not buy.

    • Plenty of ICE cars you can get for 20k.

      • I would advise against, coming into summer.

  • Even the seal premium is faster to 100kmh than my sports car

    • Yeah but you get mistaken for a hair dresser in yours so it's fine.

  • If you notice there isn't one picture of the Rear end. Seems sketchy, don't you think?

  • +4

How on earth rrp is a deal? There no even special rebate etc…

    • Agree that this isn’t a deal but in some case rrp is a deal and some products are near impossible to get at retail price. Eg. Luxury watches such as Rolex, AP, Patek are almost impossible to buy at rrp so if you see one then it’s a bargain

      • +1

Too poor to be even in that realm… Haha

  • +1

“Ultra-Safe BYD Blade Battery” has a record of 16 burnt cars confirmed officially and 36 unconfirmed ones through 1H 2022. BYD has special PR practice to stop negative rumours spreading, so there are many unconfirmed reports.

    • +3

And they're doing a brilliant job paying for the stellar reviews across the world.

    • +4

For perspective, Teslas have had 57 in 2022.

    • Yeah, park on the street.

    • +1

This is pretty standard. You don't think Tesla hides negative rumours, or any other company for that matter?

Unless it's a widespread issue and 50 cars doesn't seem to be (is comparable to Tesla) then this is just a bit of fear-mongering.

      • This statistic only counts for incidents within China about half a year. I would say it would be a similar story to Chinese motorcycles in Vietnam.

  • BYD's a great brand. Hope they'll bring in the 7 seater soon!

  • +8

I think this car is a game changer in Australia. All other Chinese EV brands are watching this closely. Currently there are over 300 EV/Hybrid models on sale in China. I hope they all come here soon.

    • While they’re watching, the Chinese are actually doing.

    • +1

It's sad you don't see Chinese tech advancements advised here and people have no idea what the latest EVs can already achieve.

  • 0-100km/h in 7.5s

Is this a car for snails?

    • -1

For the price it's very slow, and I thought EVs were meant to be fast. That's like the same acceleration as a clapped out 03 lancer on marketplace for $2.5k. Except the Lancer would probably be more reliable lol.

      • Only slightly slower then the model 3. It had more then enough speed.

        • +1

Only if 1.4 seconds "slightly slower"

          • +4

@Grok: Yeah not a massive difference for a normal driver.

            • +3

@Aureus: It’s for the bragging rights not actual real world use

              • @illusion99: maybe save up for a lambo if that's what's after

    • Sure, 7.5s for the base 150kw motor. The snails that require a bit more acceleration can opt for the 390kw AWD for 3.8s 0-100.

  • Sure a lot of no voice voters on this forum hahaha relax I’m kidding.

Btw I’ve see a lot of the instances where rrp IS a bargain.

This is not one of them. Its just normal within expected pricing

    • Yes if you can get a Rolex at RRP you’ve done very well

  • Ev prices are going to drop hard
Just not as hard as ice maybe

    • when?

      • Happening as we speak
Subsequent price decreases by tesla as they realise supply is outpacing demand as cheaper competitors come online

        • Wonder if we'll see a sub $30,000 AUD price point for an EV in this decade.

          • @Phlume: easily within the next 3 years.
They already have them in china, just need to produce them for the RHD market.

  • +8

Gosh so many dumb people here saying 7s to 100 is slow.

Tell me you know zero about cars without telling me.

    • -2

      Exactly!

  • Thanks OP. Just preordered 3 incase I forget to charge one.

  • I personally am inclined for da Germans to release some of their more budget EVs. The expensive ones look real good - especially Audi

  • -6

Are we really gonna start having Chinese electric cars that are prone to explode and catch fire driving around on the streets of Australia? As if the Fire Services don't have enough on their hands with bushfires already they now have to deal with exploding BYDs.

  • +1

RRP, not a deal, also please be wary of BYD as it is an atrocious Chinese brand with low quality.

    • +1

How did I know that comment was going to link to a serpentza video…

    • +1

Lol, the Atto 3 is doing better in the reliability stakes than Tesla.

      So yeahnah

  • It's a flaming hot tofu dreg bargain.

  • I wonder where the naming inspiration came from… singer or animal?

    • Animal of course… Dolphin and other aquatic animals

    • +1

Why on earth would they name it after the singer?

Tell me you're xenophobic without telling me….

      • Tell me you didnt read todays news about industrial state sponsored intellectual property theft without telling me….

        Not like it was news.

I'm also an immigrant so rofl.

        • Yes we know that people from all over the world are racist too.

          • @smartazz104: Yes, the chinese car industry, famously known for its long history of high quality products, research, development, and reliability. As opposed to, say, Japan.

Speaking as a center left person, jesus christ you people are doing your best to make anyone left of murdoch sound like a frothy gibbon.

Shove your racism claim firmly up your arse.

  • Great pricing. About $10K more than the MG4 but you are getting the extra value in specs. I could see Tesla Model 3 dropping price by a few $K again…

  • -7

China bad. I buy from Elon but he build in China to. What to do.

    • True. Elon could build in Thailand instead. I think they will move away from that overpopulated country soon.

    • Wait for other car companies to make cars you agree with the ethics of?

      I wouldn't touch a Tesla myself.

    • +3

      Learn proper grammar.

  • Just one comment: NSW EV car rebate will be end by 1st Jan next year. So, if you want to get the benefit, pre order before that date.

    • Is there any way to find out whether they've already surpassed 25k claims?

    • And the no EV Stamp Duty is ending too

  • -7

Coincided with Pootin visiting China. I don't support these "producers".

  • Performance model looks tempting. Tesla S is starting to look quite dated so any competition is good competition

    • +1

Well you can't buy Model S here any more.

  • All specs lower than model 3

    • tell them the price

  • wouldn't risk it … BYD catches fires randomly on youtube video - and there are plenty of examples. Sure, export models might have higher QA level but I wouldn't wanna win the reverse lottery.

Not to mention the "resale" value after 5 yrs lease. Hardly a "bargain".

      • +1

So out of 5,000,000 Tesla's that have been sold there have been 204 reported cases of Tesla's catching fire. You do realise that's 0.00408%?

        • +3

BYD is a massive battery manufacturer. I'm sure if you looked at the % of batteries they've manufactured that have caught fire it's tiny too. (BYD has rolled 5 million cars out too, though some are hybrid)

Ultimately, li-ion batteries pack massive amounts of energy into a small space. There's potential for any of them to go up in flames.

Though apparently hybrids have highest rate of fires, followed by ICE vehicles and full electric the lowest, though not sure under what conditions. I doubt it's spontaneous combustion

    • +1

you do realise you could do this for any ICE car any you'll get the same result…

  • Go for it if you're interested in throwing money at a slow, slapped together product by a Chinese company losing thousands per vehicle in order to sell at all costs.

Cast your mind back to the old Russian Lada & Original Great wall buyers…….and see how those cars have turned out. Most are no longer on the road or had huge mechanical issues.

Tesla are world leaders in EVs, and are the only ones with proven FREE software updates from the comfort of your home.

They have the safest cars on the road, and the fastest, most reliable supercharger network in the world. And their technological advantage is second to none! 🤟

    Buy cheap = Buy twice!

    • you sound like you are so far up Musks ass you cant breathe
      teal voter?

      • Don't the teals have an issue with Elon's want for freedom on social media? What a dilemma.

        • Teals have issues with themselves , they dont know what gender they are

          • @botchie: Hmm 🤔 I sense teal gender reveals about to trend on IG

      • Well I've retired early (<40), my transport is free thanks to my Model3, solar panels & Powerwall.

And I'm also writing this via my faster than NBN Starlink internet connection.

My share portfolio is growing with every quarter thanks to Tesla's innovation and PROFIT per vehicle, unlike every other EV manufacturer who are losing thousands in order to sell their inferior product.

Haters gonna hate, and your voting attack is so far off the mark you must have a mullet & drive a Datsun.

Now off to work with you so you can pay the excise for the Victorian roads I use for FREE😋

My tasks today are booking another first class class holiday, studying the stock market, buying my 35th investment property for plebs to pay their mortgages, all whilst sipping my coffee the children's nanny made me.😂🤣😂🤣🖕

        • I changed my mind, you vote for Clive Palmer

          • @botchie: At least I only used 2 letters for the referendum, how's the tears sitting in the corner licking your wounds? 🤣😂🇦🇺

    Club a Seal

  • +3

I've hired Teslas, Polestars and a BYD for 4 days. The BYD was by far - BY FAR - the most unrealiable and problematic out of all of them. They are terrible quality compared to their competitors and this is obviously reflected into their price.

    • yeah I would steer clear of the Polestars. I have a friend that is still having issues that volvo still don't ahve the parts for after 6 months. the service is so bad. He might be unlucky but I don't know if anyone else has had a bad experience with the polestars.

    • the most unrealiable and problematic out of all of them

      Bit more details pls?

  • +1

interesting I have always though the BYD seal to be interesting when I was look at ev the proformance model is about 10k cheaper than the model 3 performance. Base model seal though even though its 10k less than the base tesla model 3, the model 3 still is faster and has been effienciy, and ofcourse the software and features like sentry mode and 360 build in dash cam is also a factor when choosing a BYD or a tesla. I how ever will say this, if you can afford it I would get a tesla if you can't then get a BYD.

  • +1

    Not a bargain at RRP.

    • its cheaper than any EV sedan on the market. Model 3s cost way more. don't get me started on the rip off that is the ionic from hyundai.

      • Kia picanto is the cheapest small hatch on the market, why isn't it posted here?

Not hating on BYD (I love my atto 3), but new release RRP belongs in the forums.

        • because its a hatch back….

          • +1

@kungfuman: You think posting the cheapest ev sedan on the market is valid.

You don't think posting the cheapest hatch is valid.

            You ok bruvs?

            • -1

@krisspy: nope I personally hate all hatch backs cars

              • @kungfuman: What about SUVs? SUVs should be hated a lot more than hatchbacks.

  • wow you really have to commit to this lol they charge 1000 dollar deposit.

    • fully refundable
