        • Don’t think they have a referral program anymore. Went through the whole sign up process but couldn’t see anything about referral code mentioned anywhere.

Also messaged a couple of people on here via the random referral system and they couldn’t figure out either.

    • You won't be able to claim Cashrewards through this link.

EDIT: Sorry, xers mentioned this already.

  • I wonder if you can use this for renewals?

    • T&Cs say new members only first sign up

      • Makes me feel better..

  • +1

I used mine to stay at the Sofitel, membership already paid itself off. Win win

    • Do they charge extra for kids? To stay in the same room?

      • It comes down to the bedding arrangements in the room. Some rooms allow 2 adults and 2 people in the room. I have used my complimentary night stay to book such a room previously.

        • i tried that, it is only giving me 2 adults only. then again i only tried with sofitel there 5 star hotels.

      • when i tried a few hotels, most add extra per adult or child.

    • I travel a lot and always stay at Accor hotels. And like you I only ever use the free night at a Sofitel. Awesome value!

  • +3

If you already silver member until end of March can you still renew?

  • +2

Is it good to refer family and get 2,000 points each plus 50% off or go through cashback? What is the best use for Accor points?

    • If it's 2,000 Accor reward points then it's worth $65 to you each. That's worth way more than cashrewards.

      • Thanks.
Is that $65 only claimable on hotel bookings or we can claim on meals as well? How easy is it to use as sometimes they make you jump through hoops.

      • +2

I can't workout how to refer a family or friend. The Accor Plus help page doesn't have this question :/ Do you know how?

Update: chat to their customer support and they can add it to your membership.

        They requested:

        your email address
the name and phone number of the person you would like to refer
the sales team will then contact your friend/family

Also the referral reward is a voucher for a bottle of wine, the points program ended a while ago.

        • That’s not good for bit of an effort.

We recently stayed for 1 night free and they gave us a full bottle which we took home. Then we paid for 4 nights in another state and they gave us 2 drinks only.

  • I guess when renewing it’ll revert back to 399?

    • +2

yes, but unless you want to retain membership status (eg. you reach gold / platinum) or redeem accor credits
otherwise it might be worth getting a new accor plus membership (basically just need a new email address)

April last year it has the same offer for $199
So I believe this type of offer might run once a year?

  • Does the free night have an expiry period?

    • -1

Not as long as you have membership. It rolls over if you haven't used it as long as you renew

    • +6

My account says membership night expires at end of membership. In my experience it doesn't roll over.

    • You have to book AND stay during your membership year.

  • What is with Accor Plus Discovery Membership. Any idea if extra $50 is worth it ? Can see it has "Amazing cruise and tour offers worldwide" but not sure if it's worth.

    • doesnt worth it imo….

      • Thanks…

      • doesn't should be Isn't. :)

        • +9

          Isn't matter.

    • For those wanting info on Discovery

    • +2

i find it ok if you stay at a hotel that is valued at least $250 so you make your money back. I always use my free night for the most expensive 5 star hotel that is available in the city i visit. then rinse and repeat every year, lol. almost finished visiting all the states and territories

    • The discovery thing has me curious, apparently for the extra $50 we'd get $500 'discovery dollars'

The free one day room only allows two adults. Has anyone gone along with two kids (toddlers)?

    • +3

Yes, I used on the weekend with 2 kids included. Likely depends on the hotel and room type.

    • +1

yes but the bizarre thing is, I booked two nights with one night free. I also added breakfast option ($100 extra for 2 nights and 2a2c) and then to be told on the second day, the free night's day doesn't include adult's breakfast (or the other way around I can't not figure out). Anyway, just staying is fine no dramas but any thing extra on top of your order may have some surprises.

      • +4

accor plus also give you up to 50% off dining
        for rooms without breakfast included
I find out its cheaper to just pay the breakfast on the day (with 50% discount)
rather than pre-purchase breakfast during hotel booking

  • +1

Any chance they'll end this deal early?

  • +1

anyone tried paying with The Restaurant Choice Gift Card or similar discounted gift cards?

  • +3

Argh I did the Hong Kong one last year, expired a month ago, and can't seem to re-sign again with the Aus site - it says "Our records show that you are registered in Hong Kong. Would you like to switch to Hong Kong? Otherwise, please contact Member Services to complete your transaction." I've contacted them in the chat and they say "We kindly request that you use a different email address for your new membership. If you continue to use the same email address, you will be unable to proceed with the membership process." So you need a new email, and will lose old points I guess. They said they can merge account later, hopefully that's true.

    • +1

Maybe you can use the gmail + hack
      [email protected]?

But I see what you mean. New account

      • Or you can put a dot in gmail name anywhere before the @ and it will he the same email.

    • In same boat. Was Hong Kong and now can’t renew in Australia … and don’t want to use a new email , otherwise I loose all my status/points

      • So how much was HK?

        @Justplanemad?

Is it cheaper in other countries?

        • Roughly Same price … but at time Aus wasn’t on sale. Its not cheaper this time though

          • @Justplanemad: I found out that it's approx INR 13,000 on India. Trying to find out in China and the UK too.
But each country seems to have different benefits. India doesn't have a free nights stay.

  • If I renew now, would it start after my current subscription?

    • i think this is for new member only, looks like you cannot use existing email address

      • Ah I see. Didn't read the fine print.

    • Thanks

  • Wondering whether I can get good value from this for booking all hotels? Planning to be in NZ for 2 weeks and Japan for 2 weeks, will probably be trying to find the cheapest hotels possible

    • +1

for Accor cheaper hotels you maybe after Ibis style
rooms are smaller but bed are quite comfortable

my last trip in Tokyo Japan has been staying in Ibis style tokyo bay for 2 nights
they got free shuttle bus to Disneyland which is so convenient

      • Fantastic thanks! Would Accor plus be helpful?

        • That’s one of the benefit of Accor plus, dinning discount up to 50% off

    • I recently looked for hotels in Japan with Accor - unless you plan to stay away from the city in spa resorts the hotels are quite expensive.

    • Just came back from Japan and stayed at the "new" Mercure in Hibiya (heart of Tokyo) with one of the free nights. My free night was going to run out and thought it would be a good way to stay at a non-business hotel. Turns out it was a very bad idea. I thought i was brand new as it was opening in Dec 23 but Accor/Mercure essentially bought the building from Dai-Ichi hotel next door and refurbed it. It felt like a themed hotel as the hibiya area was suppose to be known in the past for films/theatre so the hotel has a dark decor. That darkness is is present in the bathroom too where it felt way too dark and honestly a bit dangerous as the light above the shower was too dimly lit. The shower taps were also of the older kind where the hot and cold weren't integrated so it had to be manually adjusted.

All in all, it felt like a lightly refurbed Mercure you might find in Australia. Super disappointing especially when a normal night at that hotel cost probably 30-40% more than an equivalent business hotel in the area.

  • Any existing members able to check if a free night is available in Newcastle, NSW on Sat 18th May? Thanks so much.

    • +3

Novotel Newcastle beach and 3 Mercures have free night available that night

      • Thanks a bunch!

        • +2

Go the Novotel, best of the Accor bunch (although the airport hotel is newest) in Newy.

  • +2

    Cashrewards actually tracked.

    • Cashrewards doesn't go to the family & friends offer - did you jusy manually change the URL?

      • +2

It should track if you use chrome extension, it will redirect back to the same sign up page

    • +2

I raise you one further… Cashrewards tracked using the link for $199 NZD

      • how?

        • +3

Went through Cashrewards, it went to an accor page with no discount so I just copied in the NZ link, didn’t expect it to track but it has

          • @bloom: legend. worked like a charm!

          • @bloom: Did it track properly with NZ deal? Are you paying NZD or AUD from web?

            • @hishaken: Yep, paid NZD, tracked $186.74 AUD

              • @bloom: Plus FX fees?

                • +3

@DevlicK: You use a card with FX fees in 2024 ? Shouldnt be on here

                  • +1

@regenade: Haha I know but I’ve got a new card and getting to the min spend for points, true OzBargainer

                  • @regenade: Fair point. I'll hand in my Ozbargain licence

          • @bloom: May I ask what you mean by ‘copied in the NZ link’? Like copy and pasted the link after you clicked through?

      • I have done the same with Malaysia accor plus. Cashrewards tracked but in the end the cashback declined. The t&cs clearly say

Cashback is only eligible for memberships purchased within Australia in AUD.

        🤣🤣

But why not still do it. Might get lucky sometime

  • Is this the same one that comes for free with Amex plat?

    • If you sign up Explorer in this promo, it’s exactly the same

      • Right so if I have accor+ through Amex plat then no point signing up to any of these? What’s difference between Accor plus silver (what I get thru Amex) and the discovery/explorer tiers?

        • There’s no difference

Only that with another membership you can use 2 cards to have 50% off for 4 people dining

And you have another extra stay plus night

$199 should pay off just the stay plus night as long as you book for any hotels that are 4 stars or above

          • +1

@littlesoldier: Yes but I would have to sign up on different details right? Assuming doesn’t stack on existing membership.

What’s the difference between the discovery and explorer tiers in the linked page?

  • I'm already a member till 31 August 2024, will this stack?

    • No. This promo seems to be for new members

I just signed up a new one for the stay plus night and dining discounts (you can use more than 1 Accor plus card for dining discounts in Australia)

      • awwwww :(

  • Hmm current one runs out mid April. Hopefully there's a deal around then rather than getting another now 2 months early.
Good deal though, have gotten good use out of it

    • +1

This has only been listed at this time last year

Mine expires in 2 weeks so I'll be signing up with a new account for this one. I'd personally recommend you do the same and just let them overlap

      • Just need to change email and phone number? Will they hunt out duplicate accounts based on same address?

  • Got mine expiring in April.
Any benefits of renewing at full price vs signing up the wife on a new one and cancelling mine?

    • Nope, just carry points over

    • If you renew now it'll extend. Mine did.

  • Tried to renew (current membership ends in November) but when I select the membership level I get a ReferenceError: gtmPageView is not defined error- any solutions?

Edit: saw that littlesoldier has already answered this.

  • can you use the complimentary hotel room in Japan?

    • +1

      Yes

    • +1

I did, stayed in Pullman hotel in Tamachi for free, was worth $520

  • Thanks op, booked a Saturday night for Vivid in Sydney

  • If I use complimentary night now and for any reason have to cancel it later (before travel), hopefully there won't be any issues with credit of complimentary stay plus night ?

    • +3

I've never had any issues with having to change, they just re credit the free night it to your account

  • Can you stay 2 nights and get 1 of the nights for free in the same booking?

  • I'm not surprised many restaurants are excluded. Most restaurants would be losing money giving 50% off and a lot are probably franchisees running the hotel who don't have to follow corporate promotions or the restaurant is leased to a third party.
