    • impress that you checked out 8 times and managed to get them all approved

Are these the ones that get hacked quite easily?

    • +1

mine got hacked, but they sent me another 250.

so took a while but got up 100.

had to pay shopback for the payments that failed.

    • Yes so best to use it asap

      • Seriously? How?

        • prepaid bills is the most popular option

          also Royal Carribean payments

          • @Poor Ass: Hmmm, I still have about AU$8000 to pay off my next Crystal Cruise trip. I used my ING card for the deposit as I was not sure if I would be hit with those international transaction fees as I'm booking direct with the company. Will be interesting if I can use the $250 ones I just ordered but if fees are included then I'll use somewhere else.

            • @danielh: With royal you can put in a new card and your own amount anytime

Here we go again…. Good luck

I’m taking a gamble on posting since the last deal flopped but here are a couple of notes:

A lot of users have had their payments failed, purchase with caution. You may receive a pending charge on your card for some days, if this happens.

Thanks to Skido, ensure that your pending charge does drop off after a few business days. Otherwise contact customer service to organise a refund.

A number of users are reporting that the pending charge did not drop off, we advise that you call or email Coles Gift Cards now:
    Email: [email protected]
Phone 1300 304 990 (Press 0 to speak with customer service. Have the numbers of the credit cards you used handy, in case asked for the last and first digits).

Keep getting transaction failed, CommBank card 5x cards $250, using incognito mode

    • I used desktop chrome and bought one $250 with commbank.

    • Sometimes transactions get blocked by the bank's automated fraud system as they consider large gift card purchases as part of a scam. Call your bank to reset your card and allow gift card purchases.

    • I used commbank ult rewards card and bought 10x $250 work perfectly fine.

  • +2

Can these be added to google/Apple pay wallet?

  • +1

    Keep getting transaction failed also

  • Can this be used to pay fines, got a parking fine recently that I've gotta pay soon. Also can the payments for fines be split, the fines a bit more than 300 so I'd have to deal with that, might call service nsw and ask.

  • Last report I can find from 22/1, confirmed it’s working with ATO

  • Can these be used for amazon and eBay?

    • yes

      • Thanks, so how does it work? Just use the balance till it expires?

        • +2

Yes but a better way is to use the coles giftcard to buy discounted ebay/amazon giftcards.

          • @ChaseTheSun: Ooof good call. On like ShopBack etc

            • @Uncle Roger: Yeah especially when shopback has superswap giftcard promos.

              • @ChaseTheSun: Cashrewards has 3.5% cashback on Super Swap, essentially making it 11% off eBay - which is pretty good!

              • @ChaseTheSun: Looks like CR doesn't accept these for gift card purchases lol. Haven't tried ShopBack yet

                • +1

@Uncle Roger: Works on shopback, I bought uber gift cards with it

                  • @CodeXD: How did you pay for it on Shopback? I just tried to get Amazon gift cards via ShopBack but it would not let me use that type of 'Credit Card' as an option (via Apple Pay).

                    • +1

@danielh: I added the card details directly to Shopback, didn't go via Apple Pay

                      • +1

@CodeXD: Thanks. Worked for me. Bought 2 x $100 and 1 x $50 after adding the CC to ShopBack. Looking at the fine print, it looks like I cannot buy more that three of the same denomination Amazon Gift Card per calendar month.

Same here i been getting error msg transaction failed please contact customer service

  • Goddamnit…. Wish I knew this earlier.

  • Ordered 4 got 4 within a min using Amex card

  • +1

Transaction went through first time with micro gift card. Will update when I get gift card.

    • Received 7 mins later :)

[edit: it says my card has been added to a paypal account already wtf?]

      • +1

That happened to me once, I checked the balance and it was all good. Apparently they reuse the numbers so someone may have had it in the past. If balance is there, spend it ASAP.

        • But even if they reuse number, it would have new cvc and expiry

        • Was told that virtual cards can't be added to virtual wallets now.

          • @Sheng: You meant PayPal or just Apple/Google wallet?

            • @FatTofu: So because my card number was recycled. I couldn't add to paypal, preezee, shopback. Managed to liquidate it via true rewards.

Didn't have issues before this experience. Quite concerning as I didn't have an immediate use for it.

              • @Sheng: you converted this card to cash using true rewards?

      • lol whaaaaaaaaaaat?

    • Micro gift card wont work for me, keeps saying transaction failed. Tried to buy 4 (as limit is $999 spend in a day), then 2 then 1. None will go through

  • Essentially 7.5% off the $250 GC. Not behd

    • 7.476% to be exact

  • GC received in under 5 minutes. Checked all cards balance is all good

Dang it.. just paid my council rate yesterday. Oh well.

Got 10x. Will use for Private Health.

    • +3

Be aware if you are using this gift card to pay for your Private Health, depending on the provider, you may have some complications as follow:
      1. After using the gift card a number of times, it may spit out a "Something is wrong, call this number" error. No doubt because of making repeated payments of the same amount triggered this error. Solution is to make phone payment instead.
      2. If you are paying by amount (say $250), private health insurer may round down the number of days you are purchasing. To check, say if you are paying using your own credit card 6 months in advance and it gives you a date like 25/12/2024. If you were using the equivalent number of gift cards, the number of days you will end up be getting will be LESS than if you were to pay 6 months straight in one swoop payment. In my case, the 6 months equivalent worth cover ended up 1-2 days less than if I paid the cover 6 months straight using 1x payment

      • Noting that for a 180 day period that’s a loss of ~1% value and you’re still saving money by taking the cash you laid away for insurance premium and buying giftcards.

Thanks OP bought 10 and delivered in 4 mins nice one

  • Transaction failed, please contact customer service.

  • I paid with AMEX last time this deal came around but wasn't there a discounted payment card people were using to double dip? My memory's a little hazy.

    • I get these and then buy woolies/Coles etc GC on further discount

      • No the other way around. There was someone in the previous thread who was buying these with a discounted payment card.

      • How do you do that? Through shopback?

  • great. $1000

  • Just bought 4X250 using Commbank CC, tax invoice came through spontaneously. waiting for cards…

  • ordered 6 and wait for delivery! thanks

  • +1

Can you use these on the special gift cards sale tomorrow?

    • Would be nice. Will buy a few petrol ones if so

      • Bit the bullet cause this and the 4% from RACV works out well enough that if the sale tomorrow doesn’t work I haven’t really lost anything

  • +1

how do I split payment for council rate if one card is not enough to cover payment?

    • Use bpay point. Enter biller code and rates number.
Enter the amount to pay minus the fee they charge. For me it was $248.46

      • Ok just doing this kinda stuff for the first time. Tried searching for bpay point and that led me to bpoint.com.au. Is this the bpay point you are referring to?
I put my biller code but then "Biller code you have entered is currently not registered to accept BPOINT Internet payments". I guess some councils allow and others don't via bpoint.

Then I go to pay online via my Blacktown council online payment portal. Rates are more than 250 but I can override the total amount and manually write 250 and then it gets to the payment details pay area. From there it's just card number, exp and cvv. Do I put my name as the cardholder name or is it something else related to the actual gift card?

    • +1

That's going to depend on your individual council.

Some allow payment via online portal of x dollars so you'd just have to make multiple $250 transactions (accounting for any fees).

When this deal last came through on the physical cards, my mum went into the council office and paid in split payments.

    • adjust so that it takes up the full $250

allow for credit card surcharge if required e.g. 0.5% surcharge you would divide $250 / 1.005 = $248.76

  • How we can pay excess for insurance from these cards as they dont offer split payments?

  • Can you use this to buy 7/11 gift cards from ShopBack?

  • +1

This card can be used at card.gift, slightly better than shopback deal(https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/833501) since I need a lot of amazon gc

  • +2

Just liquidated several thousand as ATO payments, so ATO is working fine.

    • I always convert my tax debt into interest free payments for this exact reason

      • why paying soo much tax?

      • How can you get this? Thought GIC applies

    • If you don't mind me asking, were you making a payment that was due/upcoming, or loading it as account credit for future tax debt obligations?

If the latter, do you know if there are any issues/concerns to be mindful of with a (CR)edit sitting against one's tax account? They don't try send it back to the card you used or anything, do they?

      • +1

        The former.

From what I've read, mixed reports on the latter. Some people seem to get away with it. Others seem to get into trouble in the form of refunds to the original payment method or letters from the ATO telling them to stop.

        • Thanks for that. I thought I'd heard something around the 'credit loading' too, so it's helpful to hear your comments there - sadly just made a PAYG yesterday, doh.

          • +5

@OneTonneRodeo: I tried the credit loading approach last time. My tax debt ended up being less than I anticipated. So I had a net refund due. The refund of the balance was cancelled automatically and ATO doesn't bother to contact you. I had to contact them and ask them to proceed with refund.

I asked if they could do EFT or cheque but after waiting weeks for them to get an answer, they said they can't do it that way for payments from credit/debit cards. They have to refund back to the original card instead, basically as a cancellation of the transaction. I had to provide them the card details (fortunately I had records) and wait for it to get processed.

After more than a month it still wasn't processed so I lodged a formal complaint. May have been a coincidence but it was processed a couple days later. But the funds didn't appear on the cards. I asked them to confirm which cards they refunded to (eg. did they use the card details I provided) and they were unable to confirm. They sent some type of transaction record but it didn't contain card numbers. It did however contain dates of the original transaction when I made payment, and those dates were from earlier payments I made during a previous promotion. Fortunately I had those records as well and found the refund had gone to different cards.

Also note they didn't provide the interest (3% or so) that I was expecting for the credit I had on the account. They said it doesn't apply for payments made by credit cards. Didn't get a clear explanation but I think it's due to being a cancellation of the payment made by card rather than being processed as a normal refund.

TLDR; Don't make payments in advance using these cards unless you're certain you will have a debt at least as large as the payment you're making. If you make any payment using these cards, make absolutely certain to keep records of all the card details you use so you can request and track down the returned funds later.
