is the %off from the already advertised prices? are they going to bump them up to full price first ?

    • should be off the advertised prices like last time

    • +5

They never put prices up for these sales and you always make that comment.

Put forward 1 bit of evidence this has ever happened then we will believe it.

      • +3

Well, it's happened to me before on their sales…I've told the story here a couple of times before, I CBF doing it again…just search OzB for it!

I'm not alone either…here's a novel idea though, how's about you put up some evidence that they don't?

Not saying that it's not potentially a decent sale, just use your head & know your prices beforehand or you could well end up paying more on Sat/Sun than 'normal' weekday sale prices.

        • +1

worked for them for 5 years. never happened. Its illegal.

          End of story.

        • +1

If one is making accustions, it is on them to provide 'evidence'. Not the other way around.

        • -1

Sorry Puffy, didn't mean to make accustions with so much gusto…my own first hand anecdotal evidence may not be good enough for you, but it's all I've got I'm afraid. As I said, you've been given a bit of simple, commonsense advice to prevent this happening, use it or ignore it, caveat emptor! ;)

@xpwdx, yeah it's illegal, and no doubt why when we do catch you guys out your managers cave, but it happens…end of story! It might not happen in your store champ; but have you worked in all of them??? Frankly, I'm wondering about your motivations here; you've now disclosed your vested interest as a staff member, but calling those of us who've had this experience liars without ticking the rep tab yourself is a bit sneaky, isn't it???

You guys might wanna check out comments here & a few other forums, say WP for instance, to read about similar experiences. Oh, and try getting out a little more…

        • +1

You might want to heed your own advice given in your last sentence there…

        • -2

          Derp???

        • +1

Yes cause nothing illegal ever happens in the world, and people never get away with things that are illegal, especially large firms or companies….thats just crazy talk.

        • +1

@StewBalls….how was he being sneaky about the fact he worked at JB. First he openly admitted it, secondly he spoke in past tense which suggests he is no longer an employee.

As it is, I'm yet to see anyone in any thread someone post convincing proof that the one or two items they saw go up weren't items that were part of previous specials that ended with the starting of these new ones. If they were running around raising the prices on everything I'm sure they would have been done for it given the JB's I've been to generally have prices in line with other outlets/the online store. It'd stick out like a sore thumb. You'd probably also have staff complaining of working through the night to make those sneaky price adjustments on all the stock.

It'd probably be easier for them to just do a 10% off sale and not waste time paying employees to change all the prices on everything after hours anyway.

        • how was he being sneaky about the fact he worked at JB.

What part of "without ticking the rep tab" did you not comprehend smigit?

secondly he spoke in past tense which suggests he is no longer an employee.

No, he just used poor grammar suggesting nothing to do with tense or aspect.

Sorry I took so long to reply, I took Puffy's advice & had a great weekend out! GSP FTW!!! :D

They never put prices up for these sales

They did it on a TV i was looking at getting a few years back…

and you always make that comment

It was a question, not a comment, and please show me where I've asked that before on a JB sale ?

      • +1

What do you mean they don't put up prices? This sale is online too isn't it?

      • +1

        Here is your evidence.

In this thread: Sheep and JB Hi-Fi stooges.

        • -3

Not exactly evidence. It could be where they are discounting off rrp and the normal everyday price is a little less then that.

It's very common to see that. And it's perfectly legal

        • +1

Hurrrr did you even go through that, it's misleading and deceptive - not legal.

        • +2

misleading and deceptive conduct is illegal.. http://www.accc.gov.au/content/index.phtml/itemId/815335

  • I'm assuming this is in-store only?

    • It's online too

  • Would it really be 30% off the online price of car audio? My brother purchased a headunit last time the 30% was on and that is the current price of the same headunit. I can't see them reducing another 30%?

    • It always has been in the past. I've bought stuff in the past and the salesman has cringed at the price and told me that in some cases their selling under cost price (particularly with Alpine car audio headunits). Most of their other stuff can be overpriced already though.

    • got a bargain on my last headunit on this sale.

purchased a pioneer basic one with usb etc. $63, DEH1450UB. very cheap, high in demand unit from campbelltown, they didnt have stock so they said theyd xfer it from para.

anywho, basically i didnt get it after 2 weeks without anyone telling me what was going on, sent in a complaint email, got a call back within 1hr agreeing with my solution to upgrade me.

didnt have the deh2450ub in stock, so tried cross selling me but i already bought the aerpro harnesses and told them i needed a pioneer one. so next one up was the DEH2550UI and i walked away with that.

the initial purchase was real good at $63, and customer service as you can tell is awesome.

    • +1

I made an order about 2hrs before this sale was announced, I emailed them and they said they'd happily refund me so I can make a purchase tomorrow. Sounds pretty good, I just hope that its 30% off the online price cause that would be a steal!

  • +2

Might want to put these in the title considering there's another thread for SC2 @ $35:

    StarCraft 2 $29, Mists of Pandaria $22, Diablo 3 $44

    • Where are you getting this from? Does the 20% off DVDs include games? OP update?

    • where did you find these games for that price?

      • +1

Facebook tells me that the price of reading that is my soul.

        • looks like im going to be playing SC2 during my uni break

        • +1

It's more fun when you play it during stuvac

    • Hmm, already have SC2 and D3, but MOP for $22 sounds tempting. Is it worth it?

  • Do the discounts apply for ordering online for an instore pickup ???

    • +1

      In store and online

      • thanks…

  • +1

15% off cameras excludes DSLR, Olympus, Panasonic, and Factory Scoop Prices

    • Good point, I took cameras out of the title because it's a little misleading

  • Last weekend they had a bin of CDs which were $10 each and buy 2 get one free.
Does anyone know if the 20% off will apply to that?
3 albums for $16 would be sweet!

    • The have in the past

    • +7

"3 albums for $16 would be sweet!"
You must be new to the Internet, welcome.

      • +7

        Lol, nice.
No, I just enjoy supporting music, its cost/enjoyment ratio is quite good.
And I usually find it's cheaper to buy & rip my own music rather that buying mp3s.

        • +1

Unless it's a small indie band, buying albums is supporting record labels, not artists.

        • Thats ok if you like the entire album, but if you like 50% of the tracks buying the entire album to rip half isnt cost effective. Hence my why iTunes, Amazon etc are making a mint as people can buy each track they like and its easy

  • -1

any HUGE LED TV worth getting?

    • -5

      yes, if you need one.

      no, if you don't.

  • Is any fo the car audio stuff any good? I need replacement speakers but have no idea about the quality.. any recommendations for say $100 or so a pair?

    • Depends what size speakers you're looking for

      • 6 inch I believe but I do need to confirm that. I thought these would be good if they came down 30%.. http://www.jbhifi.com.au/car-sound-gps-navigation/speakers/p…

        • +1

To be honest if you are just running these speakers off a regular headunit, the type of speakers doesn't make much of a difference. You could get away with a $50 pair. Unless you have the speakers amplified by an external amplifier, speakers are pretty neglible running off a head unit.

I'd say something like this would even suffice:

          http://www.jbhifi.com.au/car-sound-gps-navigation/speakers/p…

        • Thanks… I was thinking that myself… the stock ones have broken/cracked/blown but the head unit is thoroughly integrated into the dash and not looking to replace it so I was wondering how much point there was..

  • Does the 20% off bluray includes the 2 for $20 and 2 for $30 deals?

    • It has in the past but always check you're receipt carefully as some till operators don't always get it right

    • Always has been for me in the past!

  • Bugger!
I just bought the Sony XAV701BT car unit for $629 on Monday!
Wonder if I can ask for 30% off?

    • the 30% excludes double din and navigation units, so you would've paid the same regardless.

  • Isn't the 15% off computer already started since yesterday (ends monday) ? http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/84679
if you open http://www.jbhifi.com.au/, it shows on the top of the page

Unless this is another 15% off on top of the already 15% off reduced price, which sweeten the deal even more

    • the 15% off computers started thursday and ends monday, the other deals are saturday and sunday only.

  • This inc box sets of blurays? And 3d blurays

    • +1

      Yep

  • not everything is a bargain….eg Sammy TV

    http://www.jbhifi.com.au/tv-lcd-led-plasma/samsung/51-inch-f…

AppliancesOnline and Big Brown Box selling at $760…..so after JB discount still the same

    • Heh.. I was looking at the exact same thing.

Still don't know if I should wait until new year for this one.

  • Hmmm, need a new small fast cheap 32GB USB thumb drive.

  • Geez I'm hoping that the Yamaha Home Theatre discounts apply to individual recievers, but I'm guessing not.

  • Star Wars blu ray boxset at $71.20 (after 20% discount) looks a steal for Australian stock.

  • Do JB offer any kind of price guarantee thing? I was in the store and bought a new television yesterday and was told "its already discounted, we can't do it for any less, its below cost" - if I go into the store tomorrow to see it another 15% off do I have any recourse?

  • Where is Bing Lee's response?
Come on Bing Lee, give us a deal!
I'd rather not buy a laptop from JB tbh.

    • Just walk in and ask for a discount. For anything with that sort of price tag, you can more often than not talk the price down without much effort anyway.

  • +1

got a new tv yesterday from my local JB… rang em up and they said they can retrospectively apply the 15% off tomorrow and refund me the difference. happy days.

    • they said the same to Me

  • Ahh, i just brought a LCD from them on Wednesday, i rang they and they said they would refund me the difference :)

  • are hard drives included in the sale?

  • Anyone ever seen a 64" Samsung E550 at JB-Hifi before? Would love to pick one up at this sale :/

    • I bought a 64" e550 plasma at their last "friends and family" sale online, it was listed at $1999, with 15% off I paid $1696 or something like that. great value bang for buck at that price! My mum loves my tv and wants one as well, unfortunately I think the job list price now has gone back up to around $2200 or so before "discount". So now it might be around $1900 which ain't bad, but I think good guys regular price on the 64e550 is about $1999. Anyway, when I next see it for $1700 I'm getting another one for mum :)

      • Thanks for the reply. You can get it at BigBrownBox for $1799 any day of the week :/

        • Nice price, especially with free delivery - thanks, will ask mum if she still wants one. Except at bbb it says back ordered, don't know what that means for delivery times?

        • I can tell you, I ordered one for delivery on 19/11/2012 but ended up receiving a call could only be delivered on 2/12/2012. So I think you best visit JB tomorrow for price and stock level before you decide to go with BBB. Btw, I'm thinking to cancel my order as 2 weeks back ordered was not what I had in mind although free delivery is a bonus.

  • JUST bought an album and a DVD today -_-

  • Their website says that the RX100 has a 2-5 day pick up. Would I be able to order it in-store and still have the discount applied?

$632.40 is too good to ignore.

  • What's good to get, in terms of blus?
I was thinking Entourage box set myself.

    • -2

      [deleted]

  • Does "computers" also mean laptops? And can someone recommend a good one for around $600?

    • This is a good one. $750+ elsewhere
      http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/84679

    • +2

Yes, but JB HiFi don't consider Apple or Sony to be "computers" :)

  • This Tv was $998 last week….
    http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/plasma-lcd-tvs/tvs-led-lcd-52…

    Now its $200 more???

  • -3

so the HP DM1 4018AU netbook at $321.30
    http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/computers-laptops/laptops/hp-…

    would be $273.10 delivered?

Please could someone tell me how these discounts are applied online? during checkout????

    • -3

hmmmm, deal says "prices inclusive of discount" so i'm assuming discount is price shown. I wonder if it will change on saturday to show a further 15% off the already 15% off computer sale currently on.

        • +3

yes, lets neg your comment :)

  • +1

    ohh yehh bluray sale!

Is this a good deal? Do OW price match? Been looking for an ultrabook

  • Any ideas why they raised the Nexus 7 16GB from previously $267 to $314? I checked a week ago in store and it was $267, but it's marked up exactly 15%!! I know tablets are excluded from this sale but still, I don't understand why both HarveyNorman and JB raised their 16GB nexus 7 from ~$267 to $314 today when the 32GB variant is coming out soon…

    • because they are hoping to get businesses from those people too lazy to do homework and walk in to pay whatever it is.

    • Probably $267 was a catalogue price which has now ended so it's gone back to their normal price.

    • Because the $267 is for the 16gb model and the $314 is for the 32gb model… =)

They aren't part of the 15% off anyway…

(They do already have stock of the 32gb model).

      • I think so too after I saw DS's site posting 32GB for $319. I think the stores got confused and mislabeled the 16GB for the 32GB price(both JB stores and a Harvey Norman store has the 16GB at $314/$317) and when I asked if they stocked the 32GB, both JB and Harvey said no. :(

  • Got my eye on something for tomorrow, problem is on the 20%/30% lists it says "exclusions apply" but no mention of what those exclusions might be..

  • does the sale start at midnight for online purchases ?

    • I'm looking at the blus and dvds. Looks like the prices have already been adjusted for individual items.
However, for the 2 for $20 and 2 for $30 etc, it doesn't seem to take 20% off the total like it has in the past.

    • Appears to have already started for DVDs, CDs and Blurays
