      Mall ninjas.

      • Samurai would have ysed these, not ninja

        • The polypropylene or the wooden bokken?

          • @rooster7777: White oak bokken's are probably the best option if you want serious training, but they can do lots of damage due to the hard wood. Not for kids

            • @AAA-A: chuckles….thanks for your advice, but my comment was directed to the post above it… "samurai would have used these, not ninja"

        • But Leonardo was a ninja turtle?

While you were hunting bargains, I studied the Blade…

  • +6

I received one of these as a gift from a close friend.
The quality is amazing and it would definitely stand up to a lot of sparing.

    • +16

      Sounds like an appropriate gift

Did it come with an oft quoted historical Japanese adage such as the below?

"When you were partying, I studied the blade.

When you were having premarital sex, I mastered the blockchain.

While you wasted your days at the gym in pursuit of vanity, I cultivated inner strength.

And now that the world is on fire and the barbarians are at the gate you have the audacity to come to me for help."

This looks like the perfect 'red alert under the bed go to' without ending up in court yourself.

Polypropylene is generally considered safe for humans and is approved by the FDA for food contact. It's used in various applications, including food packaging, medical devices, and even rugs. While microplastics from polypropylene can raise concerns, the plastic itself is not considered toxic

So remember people, try not to eat this sword. Professional Sword swallowers need to look elsewhere.

Can I use this against teenagers breaking in?

    • I'd like to know this too.

    • Hold them by the ear, smack the back of their legs with this while walking them back to their mum.

      • +1

        Dubious.

      • +1

Utter opinion based BS. There was a case described in WA today where a charge around a home invasion (involving the stabbing death of the intruder) was dropped entirely. You're frequenting the wrong dark web chat-rooms.

        • +1

a charge around a home invasion (involving the stabbing death of the intruder) was dropped

The murder charge was dropped, he is being held in custody still being charged with possession of a weapon among a few other things.

You're frequenting the wrong dark web chat-rooms.

Like the actual government website which explains the actual law?
          https://www.legislation.wa.gov.au/legislation/prod/filestore.nsf/FileURL/mrdoc_48125.htm/$FILE/Weapons%20Act%201999%20-%20%5B01-g0-01%5D.html?OpenElement

"lawful excuse does not include carrying or possessing the weapon for defence "

"Penalty for this possession of a controlled weapon: imprisonment for 2 years and a fine of $24 000."
"Penalty for this possession of a prohibited weapon: imprisonment for 5 years and a fine of $60 000."

So you legally cannot possess a controlled or prohibited weapon for defence purposes. So you better hope that if you get unlucky, that the plastic Katana is up to the task

          • @1st-Amendment: Not being able to possess weapon lawfully for the purposes of defence does not mean that using a weapon for the purposes of defence is unlawful. It is not per se, although often it might be.

            • @dzhay: Sure, but it makes it hard to have a suitable capability for defence if it is illegal to posses the very thing required to defend yourself.

If my home was invaded I'd prefer I had shotgun to a plastic Katana. Your opinion might differ but the law is pretty clear on what they expect you to have.

      • Just don’t report the break-in attempt after you “take care of it”.
You will be savings police resources also , to tend to serious crime like speeding in a zone of contempt or modifying your number plate holder in a malicious manner.

      • Sigh, someone has gone down one of the many rabbit holes of <whatever saddo brand of crazy this is>

      • dreaming again?

    • +5

I've used a steel baseball bat to good effect a couple of times.

Police statement "The suspect is about 170cm, no facial hair and missing 3 front teeth, here they are"

      • -1

        No you haven't.

    • I bought a 5d maglite for this purpose… great for blinding and whacking. Get a 6d for extra leverage

      • +1

        Maglite 7d with vibration function?

        • +2

Tried this but the batteries were always flat when needed. Not sure why the wife likes shining a torch around so much when I'm not home 🤷‍♂️

  • +1

That Polypropylene Black Medieval Sword looks real kool OP. Let us know if you have it half price please :P

  • What can I do with this in 2025 vs a samurai in 1925? Not sure if legal to put this in the car to camping.

    • +1

If plod saw you getting in and out of a car with this, they would taser you first and ask later.
Best if you dress like a Ninja so they can't see you, and/or they just think you are a homey, off to the war memorial to boo themselves onto the Liberal Party front bench

      • Read this as “laser you first”.
What kind of Phased Plasma Rifles are they issuing now?40w?

      • didn't work out well for the male stripper in Perth CBD who brandished a fake rifle to go with his SWAT uniform whilst waiting for a bus load of ladiez

  • How long do I have to train before I'm ready for the real thing?

    • Ask your grandfather if he's there yet….

      • Are we there yet?

  • Thankfully a training Katana - a real Katana and you could get all Kill Bill on people you don't like.

    • run Bill run
      🏃‍♀️

  • +1

I just got two of these as a 34 yo. Now I’m starting to wonder if I’m actually autistic lol

    • +8

No. You're just an ambidextrous shopaholic.

  • This, or jousting sticks?

    • You’re dreaming

    • -1

Unless you already own a horse, you might find a jo or a bo a bit cheaper and more practical. Given that they are just sticks….though very straight and strong ones, less of a social outrage than a jousting stick (which has a big iron spike on it) or a bokken.

      • +1

You've absolutely got to watch The Castle.

    • They're both in the pool room.

  • Thank op, why not.

  • +6

There's no further way to level up. With this final, glorious acquisition, I hereby conclude my 16-year odyssey through the hallowed halls of OzBargain. I've purchased everything able to be purchased. I have transcended mortal frugality and now ascend to the mythical rank of Dan-sama Ultra Instinct Titanium Cashback Sage.

    Godspeed peasants.

    • +1

Conclude? Don't use the katana for that! They are just plastic!

      • +2

😂 those of us that purchase this (as I did) clearly have every item ever manufactured in human history. This would be the lowest priority item I've possibly ever purchased. And you sneaky dudes probably did the same thing as me. It's IMPOSSIBLE to get just ONE. 🤣😂 My kid would never forgive me if he didn't have the option of a dueling partner.
