  • Is it true that it's $0/month for the first 12 months, then $75/month for existing mobile customers?

    • Would it be possible to just get a $2 SIM and be a customer? I wonder how long you will need to stay post the 12 months…

      • Seems like postpaid plan only…
Cheapest postpaid plan is $39 per month….

Get this plan for $0 plan fees, when you stay connected to a postpaid voice service. Reverts to $75/mth thereafter, or if you cancel your postpaid voice service. Ends 31/07 (unless extended). New connections at newly connected Vision premises only. T&C apply.

    • Saw this and thought yes! But I'm only an el cheapo prepaid :( Has to be a postpaid account.

  • Will this work with Security camera remote access?

    • For remote access from internet via CGNAT, need to have a home device that can setup a VPN like Tailscale.
Tailscale has a free tier and has mobile apps also.

    • if they use a company app, yes.

If you host it and 'dial home', not without TailScail, Hamachi, or other such tools.

  • Looks like yes… I don’t have a mobile plan with Vodafone.

    From the website:

  • Thanks OP! my half price 6 months with iiNet is just about up, and was planning to churn to TPG. This is much better with 12 months reduced fee.

      Bugger T&C …

So TPG and iiNet customers are exlcuded or included in this promotion?? The T&C is confusing.

          • @xwx: Thanks for the explaination. I've been switching between iiNet and TPG FTTB plans every 6 or 12 months (depending on their promotion at the time) for the last 3 years and have never been excluded in their promotion's T&C. It would be great if there's a third option to choose from.

          • @xwx: I chat to Vodafone and asked whether I could get the promo of 50% discount when I am currently connected to Vision network via iiNet.

They said yes!!! The guy even checked to confirm.
He said that the clause is to say that even though TPG/iinet are parent company of Vodafone, you don’t get that discount with tpg/iinet. Very confusing way of saying this…..

He did try to sign me on the spot but need to give 30 day cancellation notice first….

so what fiber network are vodafone using, their own or is this the same as TPG's?

    • TPG wholesale, Vision Networks

  • -1

So is this 4g or 5g

  • Wonder if it’s possible to leverage off a friends plan for this?

    • What are you talking about?

      • +1

Probably mean that they would get internet under their friends name.

        • Why? Your address either has their FTTB network running to the building or not. Using others names makes no sense.

        • If I were to do that, I'd first ask myself would I do the same for them if they asked me? And honestly, the answer is no.

          • @jimojr: It means they have a Vodafone plan but connect the internet under a different address. You just reschedule the payments every months.

            • @nightelves: Why but? What are you trying to achieve?

              • @PainToad: Err.. cheap internet for myself. Thought that was obvious.

                • @nightelves: You're not getting it. If you don't have Vision Networks FTTB connected your building, you can't get it. Using someone else's address/name/whatever doesn't magically make the physical fibre appear to your building where you want to use the service.

                    • @xwx: If you explain it that way then yes 😂

                        • @xwx: I’m on Boost prepaid so that won’t work out.

                          • @nightelves:

I’m on Boost prepaid so that won’t work out.

Still not actually saying if the address
you want to have this connected is in a building serviced by Vision Networks FTTB. I still think there’s a misunderstanding of the deal here.

  • Wow they don’t even have an online address checker for coverage?

      • I tried iinet's HFC address checker and was eligible on their site, but Vodafone said Vision is not yet available at my address so YMMV. It's definitely the same network so not sure what the disconnect is.

    • Vodafone want you to call up or use live chat.

Use the TPG FTTB address checker.

Thanks for posting the deal OP.

Just signed up for $49 sim post paid plan ($10 discount for 12 months) and $90 Vision internet ($90 discount for 12 months). So, $39 per month for mobile sim and home internet for 12 months.

  • Anyone know if there is a coverage map (not just an address checker) for this? Would like to see if there are nearby buildings/areas around Coolangatta, Gold Coast or Tweed that have TPG FTTB. From my limited research, could only find some buildings from 2022 that were enabled in Surfers Paradise.

    • I've only seen the TPG FTTB address checker.

I'd be looking at a property that has nbn FTTP or is eligible to swap to FTTP if you plan on staying there long term.

nbn FTTP checker and Luke's nbn coverage map.

Has anyone else run into the problem where Vodafone says Vision isn’t available, even though you’re already hooked up to iiNet HFC? That’s what they told me.

They said only FTTP is available at my place (which I do have, but without an active plan), yet I’m using iiNet Cable right now, so I thought Vision would be an option.

    • May be your iinet HFC is via NBN?

Vision network HFC is only in these places according to their website:
      HFC
HFC Network operating in the regional Victorian cities of Geelong, Mildura and Ballarat, offering downstream speeds up to 1 Gbps

      https://visionnetwork.com.au/our-network/

      • I reached out to Vision directly and they said my house is definitely in their footprint.

Very odd that Vodafone can’t see that.

          • @xwx: I’m surprised too, I just cold emailed them and they responded within a couple hours!

That address checker is super handy, thanks for that. I’m also going to try my luck in store.
