Thanks @simplerack to originally introduce the TCB offer at Exetel nbn FTTP or HFC 500/50: $100 Cashback (for New Exetel Customers) @ TopCashback AU. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/913373

I have been looking to move to Execel as the internet change would be quite smooth from Origin Boardband by providing AVC number on the invoice.

Does new customer mean, havent been with Exetel for last x months or shouldnt have signed up for exetel at all earlier?

  • +1

I tried to switch yesterday to exetel, and my internet has been down ever since. Customer support is absolutely useless. Avoid.

    • Any luck yet?

  • will Topcashback match the cb?

    • @tightarse Topcashback any idea?

  • -1

How long you have to stay with Exetel for receiving cashback?

    • +1

      Says here:

      Exetel terms and conditions

Users must remain with the brand for a minimum term period of 3 months to be eligible for Cashback.

This is under the "Other terms and conditions" on Shopback (at least on the $85 cashback for exetel)

      • thanks

  • Anyone know if CGNAT will be a problem when using stremio/real-debrid?

    • +2

CGNAT is not a concern with Stremio unless you're selfhosting addons at home and accessing them externally.

If you're not sure if you're doing this or not then you're almost certainly not and will be OK.

      • Thanks! Not doing any of these at the moment. Might change providers in 3-6 months anyway so all good.

    • +1

Have used before without issue personally

  • +1

So let me get this straight.
    $80 p/m for 500/20
$140 cashback, condition is stay on for 3 months (i.e. $46 per month cashback)

    i.e. $34 p/m for 500/20 on Exetel, for 3 months only?

    • +1

Correct, but with limited certainty of ever receiving the cashback from Shopback which may or may not involve a lot of time, effort and frustration. YMMV.

  • Can I run Home Assistant remotely on Exetel? I heard that we can't get static IP due to CG-NAT, how will that affect HA remote control?
    Thank you

    • +1

Tailscale, or set a static IPv6 within the prefix they give you. CloudFlare tunnels if you have a domain with them as nameserver…

Wait, do all of the Australian mobile carriers have working IPv6?

      • Thanks. Good to know! I'm running Tailscale and planning to switch to CloudFlare.

      • Optus including their MVNOs are still CGNAT only.

  • +1

Can we sign up and plan connection date or do you need to connect today?

    • +1

@Jklaro @discountguy Exetel connect you today. You can't schedule a future date.

  • +2

Topcashback also requires 23 weeks to clear payment, I’m still waiting for a cashback for a signup in March. Better a bird in hand than 2 in the bush. Think buddy co still better

  • +2

My cashback from Feb is still pending.

  • +2

I gave Superloop a call and was advised that Superloop and Exetel are separate operations and so the 30 day notice period cannot be waived.

    • Thanks for that. I was just about to make the same call. After digging around a little I found Exetel do instant activation and so I'd need to still pay for 1 month with Superloop making the deal less attractive. I've got 250/25 for $79p/m till December. Will just sit tight and see what comes later in the year.

      • I’ve got the exact same deal as yours, with the cashback from Superloop deal. I canceled mine today anyway, so I’ve got a month to shop for a new NBN. Either way $79 is exxy for superloop with current offerings around. Rep on the phone tried to convince me but I said no thx, you could save like $10 a month for more now than wait 6 months.

    • Everyone seems to be getting different responses. I got part waived, they cancelled from the end of my billing period (about 10 days)

      • i switched my billing a virtual card and told superloop to go (profanity) themselves

    • Follow-up: I gave Superloop another call, different customer rep but same outcome - 30 day notice period still applies. Oh well - was hoping to get on the faster speed before Sep (I'm on 100/20) but will have to be patient and make use of the speed boost days I've got banked up.

    • Did you call superloop as soon as you activated exetel service or when you received the next bill?

  • Switch was rather fast… After payment, my internet disconnected and now it is up and running. In hindsight, i should have done a speedtest of Leaptel prior to switching to Exetel. Seems just as fast though

  • I literally cancelled my Superloop yesterday -> But am stuck until end of August.
Do I both with this or just go to Leaptel -> $79.95 for 100/20. (Then wait a month or 2 before the new speed increase on the plan).

    • +1

Exetel will move you across today so that isn't suitable for you.

Leaptel and Buddy Telco let you schedule a moving date. Buddy Telco free month deal.

  • Anyone using Ring branded cameras with CG-NAT? Work ok still?

Also would my kids have any issues hosting minecraft games?

I used to know all this stuff but getting more useless with age as i haven't kept up with it haha

    • Ring works with CG-NAT.

CG-NAT breaks access to a hosted Minecraft server.

    • CGNAT doesn't stop kid playing minecraft, and their friends can even join their worlds which your kids devices have on their local devices (as seen when just playing 'with a friend'). But standalone Minecraft servers cannot be behind CGNAT.

  • +1

I was so close to hitting the button, but a lack of opt-out for CGNAT kills it for me :(

    • Same, i run a wireguard instance in my homelab for a bunch of services. Wish it was an option 😪

      • Site-to-site WG link (outbound) from home to free Oracle VPS. Run a proxy or packet forwarding of VPS public IP to internal resources.

  • currently upsized to $85 instead of $140

    what a bargain

  • +1

    Can't pick a connection date :(
30 day notice with my current provider ends on 22/8, so was hoping to line it up with that.

    • +1

TCB is still doing $100 and I saw cashreward was with $120 over the weekend.

      Good luck!

    • Can you select which Uni-D port they connect to?

      • For exetel can not. If you have current active nbn, exetel will transfer that port. ( I rang them last week to confirmed ).

Go buddytelco, these allow you to choose.

        • Thx. Might give this one a miss. I like to get set-up and happy with service before I disconnect.

  • Switched over from More NBN to Exetel and was done in 30 minutes.
Super fast and all done via Exetel website first. Once internet was up and running I then cancelled my plan on More NBN (don't cancel your existing NBN plan first until the new Exetel internet is up and running)
Cashback tracking confirmation email came 30 min later.
Great so far and fast speeds coming from 50/20 plan
    Thanks OP!

    • how long did it take to process your order?

      • +1

All up it was done in about 30 minutes and I didn't have to do any updates on my modem/router (I use an eero+)

  • You won't get Cashback on:

    Mobile, Fibre and Business plans
**Transactions coming from Sri Lanka (call center)**

    lol

  • I'm currently with TPG NBN50.

Can I use my current TPG modem at Exetel? My modem is TP-Link Archer VR1600v. If so is it easy to setup/configure?

  • +2

    @gotyourback if the address eligibility is coming up as "Your connection is Fibre" will this cashback work? A bit confused since the Ts and Cs state;

    "You won't get Cashback on:

    Mobile, Fibre and Business plans"

And thought most NBN connections would be classed as "Fibre" (My current connection is nbn® Fibre to the Premises (FTTP)). Some clarificatio would be much appreciated!

    • We’re checking on this for you and will get back to you with clarification soon. We appreciate your patience!

      • Interested for confirmation as well

        • +4

Thanks for your patience everyone! 😊 We’ve checked with the merchant, and here's the clarification:

If your connection is listed as "Fibre" and you're able to purchase the One Plan (while meeting all other eligibility criteria), you should be eligible for cashback.

The only "Fibre" that’s not eligible is the "Opticomm" type fibre, which Exetel no longer sells. If your address has that type of fibre, you’ll be redirected to Superloop and cashback won’t transfer.

If it's nbn FTTP or HFC, you’ll absolutely receive the Cashback! 😊

Hope this clears things up! Let us know if you have more questions!

    • See this reply

As long as it says nbn® Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) on the Aussie Broadband page, it will be eligible.

      Check here: (https://www.aussiebroadband.com.au/network/connection-insigh…)

      • Thanks @hexapling, I saw that thread but wanted to check with a store rep/associate since the Exetel website literally says address eligibility is "Fibre" and the Ts and Cs refer to "Fibre" without additional clarification of what that means.

Don't want to switch and then get burned on the cashback!

  • +3

Shopback tracked mine successfully. You can use someones referral code to get $1 off month fine as well.

  • Hi all!

Hoping someone can provide some troubleshooting!

Just connected to this plan. All went smoothly, disconnect was roughly 5 mins and the internet was back up.

Tested the new speed and to my surprise, its only 95~ mbps download! Was previously on a 50/20 plan.

I've tried restarting router, QOS setting turned off.

Is there any other settings I'm missing or did I skip something?

    Router is a tp-link AX1800 wifi 6

    TIA!

    • Check your speed with an ethernet cable.

95Mbps is normal for 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. Make sure you are using 5GHz Wi-Fi.

      • Hey mate,

        Thanks for the reply.

Yeah this was with an ethernet cable plugged into the computer!

I'll try using the 5GHz wifi to see if the router is the issue. Shouldn't be as it supports up to 1.8gb

        Cheers

  • I called Superloop to cancel and waive the 30 days cancellation but the gentleman said I am on black Fiiday promo so it cannot be waived.

    • did you call as soon as the new service was activated?

  • +1

Just switched over from Leaptel 100/20 took about 20 mins speed test showing significant improvement, they accept Amex, will await ShopBack - so far so good.

  • @gotyourback If I sign up for this deal now, will it override or affect the cashback bonus below?

I previously signed up for Optus but it was never tracked. The minimum wait time 120 days have passed, and I and many are others still waiting for a response.

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/16755947/redir

    • You still expect to get the missing cashback from the previous one?

  • -1

    what about HCF, eligible?

    • nbn HFC is eligible.

  • Anyone else getting this error from exetel website:

    Your connection is HFC
Unfortunately, our internet plan is not available for this address. The good news is that our friends at Superloop offer a wide range of affordable internet plans that would suit your address.

    • Do you have nbn HFC, OptiComm HFC or iiNet HFC?

      • nbn HFC

        • That's odd. I checked a nbn HFC address and it works.

          Your connection is HFC
Great news! Our internet plan is available at your address.

Weird, I am getting the same thing.

  • Took two hours to churn from Leaptel.

I was on 1000 down 50 up before with Leaptel, that's on test ID 930 and 931, and 932 is the after the churn. We'll see how this goes.

ID Time Download (Mbit/s) Upload (Mbit/s) Ping (ms)
    932 28/07/2025, 17:21:06 541.554504 45.007112 1.825
    931 28/07/2025, 17:20:52 545.42692 46.670912 1.958
    930 28/07/2025, 15:31:44 924.351 45.289048 1.864

  • Took 30 mins to churn from Tangerine. Probably quicker if I had realised to reboot everything on the network to change from PPPoE to IPoE.

Emails showed service was active within 12mins.

  • It took less than 5 minutes to churn from dodo.

  • Does anyone have any experience they can share regarding streaming from UK and Europe with Exetel NBN, please?

  • Does anyone know if another phone require 30 day notice or not?

  • +1

Well put in my order and 5 mins later my old connection dropped out. Unfortunately exetel hasnt kicked in so my internet is down for about 15 mins so far. Anyone else have the same issue?

  • Man so unlucky..taking a while for activation while previous fttp got cut off :(((

    • how long did it take to be activated? Mine one took more than 30mins now and stil not activate. Do we need reboot modem etc? Thanks.

      • Mine has been down for 35 mins so far and still going.

  • The internet has been off for half an hour already.
Tried to reach them, then their customer service hours is a joke too. It says 9 a.m. to 9 p.m?..

Not a good sign of this brand :(

    • I am in the same situation. Looks like many others who have just joined Exetel too. Stuck with no service for now until it rolls over

      • Finally now active at 9pm

    • same here, my previous service was cut off and now no internet. I placed order 7.35pm. a hour past and still not activated.

      • First activation process saying 3-15 mins, then chat with team saying up to 1 hour. 1 hour past and still not activated.

      • MIne one finally activated after 1.40 hours waiting. It says service activate, but no internet though.
Update: after another 20 mins wait. now got internet.

    • Waiting 150 minutes for activation so far. I'm wondering whether in the period since 5pm or so a lot more people learnt of the cashback deal and decided they'd have a piece of it.

  • I placed order 1h ago,nbn down ,still waiting
Hope it will be worth waiting

    • Same here with everybody else. Been out of internet for almost two hours.

  • Mine just kicked in!

    • When did you sign up?

      • +1

Around 7 30- 7 40. It kicked in but is really slow and dropping in and out.

        • Ah, I haven’t switched ISP in a while.. guessing they send you new logins to chuck into your router to get connected?

I did mine around the same time so hoping mine will be soon. Cheers
