Thanks @simplerack to originally introduce the TCB offer at Exetel nbn FTTP or HFC 500/50: $100 Cashback (for New Exetel Customers) @ TopCashback AU. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/913373

I have been looking to move to Execel as the internet change would be quite smooth from Origin Boardband by providing AVC number on the invoice.

Beauty! Thanks OP I was thinking of switching today such incredible timing.

    • +1

I was lazy and didn't do it Sunday afternoon like planned. Happy days.

  • +1

Title says $140. What am I missing?
Of course this is happening because I just switched to Exetel T__T
My NBN was switched over in 7 mins since the order was put in!
No issue so far, pretty good!

    • Title says @ 12pm-8pm AEST Shopback AU

    • What is Exetel T_T? Is that a different type of connection than say Exetel FTTP?

      • +5

        T_T = 😭

        • +2

          FT_TP 😂

    • +2

My internet has now been down for almost 24 hours. Worst NBN changeover ive ever experienced.

      • Worst NBN changeover for me too. Support was no help. They could only lodge a ticket with NBN to get them to check which is a 48 hour turnaround. Meanwhile, I've got no internet and there's nothing I can do about it.

        • Yep, I'm on day 3 now with no internet. I'll try lodging with nbnco and see if that helps.

          • @gruffjaguar: It won't help. nbn will tell you to contact Exetel.

            Contact your provider for:

Loss of phone or internet connection including outages/dropouts
            Issues getting connected
            Concerns about speed
            Missing equipment
            Missing or incorrect address
Appointments including technician hasn't turned up
            Service connection delays

As nbn is a wholesaler, you will need to talk to your provider in relation to the issues listed.

            • @Twix: So what are my options then? Exetel are just telling me to wait and see if it comes good which is a joke. I think i'm gonna have to just cut my losses and try again with aussiebroadband or something.

              • @gruffjaguar: Yeah swap ISP again. Look at Leaptel or Buddy Telco.

    • Their app was saying starting from 12am AEST which is confusing. Do report if you can have the full $140 back!

If you need the screenshot for evidence let me know!

  • Clicking on "go to deal" downloads the thumbnail (.png)

    • Doesn't start till midday

  • Tangerine has 1000 Mbps FTTP going for $68.90 for 6 months. Not sure how that works; it seems too good to be true. They could be trying to win customers back after they got hacked.

    • +6

I got fkd by their hack and this is the third time for me including two other very high profile companies.

You can't win but these companies should be sued to the ground.

    • Signed up with them the other week - woke up to no internet this morning. After 45 min on tech support they told me their backbone provider (not the NBN) is having an outage thats going to last the entire day by current estimates.

      • It's almost like cheap providers provide cheap quality service.

    • +1

Drops to 500 Mbps in September I think

    • Tangerine are trying to gain customers early before most providers sell 500/50 in September.

    • +1

I wont touch Tangerine after a churn to them about 2 years ago, left within a week.

If all you do is watch youtube / netflix and emails/web browsing you probably won't have any issues.
Downloads from sources that would max out my 100/20 from other providers (i was Exetel before the churn) were stalling at 1MB/s and was getting massive packet loss in online games. Support was useless, said there were no issues must be a problem on my end, even though are clearly throttling traffic based on the source but letting the popular sources like the streaming sites get bandwidth to make it look good.

Standard cheap internet support, blamed everything on my end, yet it was fine before the churn and the problems disappeared when i churned away from them.

  • Is this deal valid if the churn by date is a month or more from now?

    • +3

Based on what I've read, you can't schedule a churn date with Exetel.

      • +3

I went to exetel recently. Happened immediately at 1020pm at night. Caught be by surprise. Filling in the web form one minute, then Internet drops out the next. Fast/seemless if you're ready.

        • Thanks for confirming exactly what everyone else is asking. I'm seeing through my 30 day waiting period from Superloop as I would forfeit 21 days worth of usage, so I've maxed out all my speedboosts and will be switching over after 12pm.

          • +3

@Wokstar: I followed advice from another commenter and called up Superloop to cancel immediately as Exetel is their sister company. They gladly did it and only charged to prorata. No 30 day required. Wasnt expecting Exetel to switch me over in 8 minutes seamlessly after completing form!

  • +1

I'd be switching from Superloop. Would there be any problems given Superloop owns Exetel?

    • +1

      Nope

    • +1

Interested to know if Superloop will waive disconnection waiting period if switching to Exetel.

      • Argh …. that's right …. Superloop requires a 30 day disconnection notice ….. following closely

        • YMMV, I cancelled and all they could give me was $10 discount for the next 6 months and advised to wait till Sept for the speed increase. Wouldn't budge on waiving for me.

          • +4

@Wokstar: You need to threaten them with ACCC etc re: their silly 30 day notice.

            They'll waive it quicksmart.

            • +1

@montorola: Good idea, didn't think to do that at the time. Will remember it for the next time.

        • +1

I got offered $10 off a month for a year when I left on 17th July. They waived the disconnection fee for me.

    • +1

No need 30-day notice between the 2? Someone said okay from a previous post. I want to confirm this too.

      • +2

Switched from Exe to SL in last year's Black Fri sales.
Porting was quick, but both charged for December, so that's the 30-day notice.
Note they 'overlooked' porting my home phone addon even though I selected it in initial purchase, so keep an eye on that.

*Assume that my Exe to SL experience would be same for switching SL to Exe

      • +3

i called them up. Customer service had to check with his manager. I was able to get 30 days wait waived and pro rata refund on superloop plan as it was two weeks away from month being over. Just mention to them it is same company and know people who got it waived. Took like 5 min to chat with customer service. Porting took like 10 minutes.

        • I can give them a call and request the wait waive. Not sure how it works to get this cashback. I'm okay to sign up through ShopBack as long as it got waived.

  • Can This have a forward start date?

    • +2

Dont think so. Online comment is once AVC provided this will be switched over within minute.

  • Let me confirm these details.

The cashback is for today, Monday 28 July?
    And it's from 12pm to 8pm?

    • +1

Yup. Please see the daily Shopbackker email (dont trust the app as the promo looks like a typo as 12am in the app).

  • I saw in the buddy co deal, someone planning to do buddy for free for a month and then $1 for abb for a month, then hope for something else to pop up by then if not Black Friday sale. Probably better for ppl happy to keep churning?

    • +1

our strategy too - I wonder if I can schedule sign ups under my partner's name too to get 4 months in total.

      • I was wondering that as well but the DVA number is the same

        • just move house while you're at it to get a different DVA

    • I was on Buddy last week and suddenly SL churned me before my set activation date. Whatever. Never had that happen before.

      • Realized the problem. I had an ABB scheduled churn in place. I thought that would get cancelled with my SL churn… it did not.

  • +1

Never got my cashback from the last deal.

  • +1

Can't believe my luck… plan expires today and was about to use topcashback for $100

    • +1

      Get tatts-lotto too why not?

    • Don't try pokies either.

      • its not gambling, its an "investment"

  • interesting since im paying $100 for 1000/50

    • Paying $85 for 1000/50

      • ahh which service.?

        • +1

Probably HFC on superloop as I’m on that plan

  • I was waiting for my service to churn at the end of the month, but 3 days for an extra $40 (over TCB)?

    I'm doing it tonight

    • +1

Update: did it while at work and I'm now switched over and cashback tracked at SB

  • 1 SB account and move to exetel at 2 different properties (both new to exetel)?
    would that count twice?

    • Might be easier to do TCB on second property. Just in case SB don't track you have a backup plan!

  • And looking at the Shopback terms and conditions for an Exetel cashback,

Looks like no exclusion re using referral codes, or am I wrong???

So should be able to add a referral code for extra $1 off per month?

    • @gotyourback can you advise?

      • +1

We’re checking on this for you right now and will confirm shortly! Appreciate your patience! 😊

      • +2

Just saw your reply below confirming that using a friend's referral code will not affect the cashback.

        Thank++ for checking

    • Hey @pencilman! Could you let us know where the referral codes are coming from?

      • from "a friend" already on this plan

        • got it! Thanks

    • Just signed up, (and already churned over by the way from dodo!) - can confirm, I used the refer a friend code to bring it down to $79 a month and the $140 cash back tracked :) now to wait 120 days to get my money!

    • +5

After checking on this, I can confirm that as long as you stay on the Exetel plan for 90 days, you’ll receive the cashback! The referral code for an extra $1 is separate and won’t affect the cashback at all.

Hope that helps! Let us know if you need anything else! @pencilman @thanks9527 @drezy

      • Always loved your responsiveness at Ozbargin!

  • "Terms and exclusions
You won't get Cashback on: Fibre"

Huh? I'm confused. Isn't this deal for NBN fttp?

    • Exetel/Superloop refer to OptiComm FTTP as Fibre.

      • how do we know if we have opticomm fttp? I only know i have FTTP at the moment…(with dodo)

  • +2

I feel like buddy telco free 1 month is better. No needed to worry about cashback working or not

    • Yep, especially now that they've brought it down to $85 instead of $140. Just going for the free 1000/50 on Buddy is worth it already.

      • This will be $140 at 12pm

        • +1

Oops my bad didn't see that part. But for convenience of choosing a future connection date and double the DL speed without fluffing around with uncertainty of CB, I'd still personally choose the free month of Buddy, by then the new NBN speed tiers will be in effect which hopefully mean more choices and deals from other RSPs

    • +2

But then you're paying $100 a month afterwards unless you churn. Some people don't need 1000mbps.
      I'd prefer 500mbps at $80

  • Just saw their new logo, RIP original Exetel logo.

  • Cue CG-NAT comments

    • Can't even get a static IP now.

  • +1

Superloop runs credit checks, and since Exetel is owned by them, I’m assuming Exetel does the same.

I wasn’t aware of this until a rep reached out to tell me my credit check didn’t go through. Normally, companies ask for ID like your medicare/driver’s license before running a check, but in my case, they didn’t ask for anything upfront.

  • -2

Just a headsup, with Exetel, You will have to give them 30 day notice if you want to churn out. So plan your exist accordingly.

    • +2

      Not anymore.

Want to cancel your service? There’s no need to give us 30 days’ notice – though you’ll be charged for the rest of the billing cycle. For example, if your cycle starts on the 1st and you cancel on the 14th, you'll be charged for the full month. Alternatively, you can choose to ride out the service until the end of the billing cycle.

      • +1

What about Superloop? Do they still have 30 days notice?

        • Superloop still asks for 30-days notice. Hopefully they get rid of it in September.

There are reports of Superloop waiving the 30-days if you move to Exetel.

  • Anyone with exetel have issues with hosting plex given there’s no opt out for gcnat?

    • If you can't turn off cg nat anymore like some others have mentioned, you'll have a hell of a time hosting plex, if it's just to yourself, you could set up a tailscale tunnel. But if to family, i wouldn't

  • +1

Does new customer mean, havent been with Exetel for last x months or shouldnt have signed up for exetel at all earlier?

  • +1

I tried to switch yesterday to exetel, and my internet has been down ever since. Customer support is absolutely useless. Avoid.

  • will Topcashback match the cb?
