If you need and intend to use it, thank him.

If you're like me who after visiting this site spend a bunch of money on things I didn't need but wanted because it was cheap yet never actually used it, that's a different story…

I didn't buy anything this time. Couldn't find something I would have bought had there not been 30% off.

  • Got a Breville Glass Kettle….
Tempted to get the Actifry for $148.30

Lol… nevermind… after research on Actifry… it seems like Tefal knows of the overheating and exploding issue, but won't admit to fixing it. Sounds like a deathtrap.

    • I've had the Actifry for a couple of yars and use it 2-3 times per week without issues. The only bit of advice I have is don't put the lid in the dishwasher as it will degrade and crack. I just wipe the lid with a cloth or handwash it if it's really dirty. I think this is a steal at $150 for perfect chips every time.

Just got a call from local Good guys and said they will be post out this afternoon, or you can pickup yourself and save another $9 ( or multiple of $9s). If you have multiple orders, it might not be all in one store, depends on the allocation. And also if you wanna find out more about your orders ( like the allocation), call 1300725885.

    • +1

I haven't received a call from my local good guys yet.

No point calling 1300725885 to try to organise pickup, as they will say "We do not offer pickup for eBay purchases".

      • +1

Well, I just got the call and they are happy to leave at the counter for pickup.

        • didn't you already pay for shipping? ARe they going to refund you when you pickup?

        • +2

Yep, they will do the refund of shipping

        • do you have to allocate a store?

        • Yes, if you wanna pick up. Most of them ship out locally and if it's not shown on the receipt, just make the call and find out.

        • +1

I just called out and he said I can't pickup.

Should I call back and ask which store my order has been allocated to then contact the store?

          thanks

        • Yes, call the 1300 find out the store, and call the store directly to have them pickup if they haven't shipped them out yet.

        • Thanks,

I'm still waiting for the good guys email

        • Which stores allow Pickup with refund of shipping?

Brighton VIC is allowing me to pickup Moto G with refund of $9 shipping. They initially emailed asking for ID (even though technically it doesn't have a SIM card in it so it doesn't need ID), so not sure if they said yes so they can see my ID without me having to scan it, or they would say yes anyway.

  • Snatched this Asus F550LB-XO144H F550LB laptop, $746 before discount:
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Asus-F550LB-XO144H-F550LB-15-6-In…
On their website it is $899 for some reason
    http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/buyonline/Asus_F550LB_15.6%22_…
    Harvey Normans price is $884
Couldn't find many reviews, hope it's alright.

  • Just purchased the 2014 edition of the 10.1 tablet. Ended up being cheaper than the 11% discount offered by DSE yesterday (which are out of stock til April 3rd).

  • thanks OP, DC35 bought!

  • Which Dyson is most appropriate for someone who has pets dogs and vacuums daily?

  • Hey guys, just dont go all out too quick,

  • What do people think about this for a budget laptop? Are asus garbage?

    it would be $360 delivered..

    • nah looks decent for the price mate.

  • Guys, another great deal :

    • Eh no - Cashback campaign closes 15th February 2014

      • Ah… Bummer… They still have the csshback link working on their website.

    • Did not the cash back promotion finish in Feb 2014?

  • +3

if it helps, the maximum price of the product that you wish to enjoy the full 30% discount, is $333.33.

    • Yeah :) mine was $349 (DC58) so pretty happy with the % off.

Ok on the 2TB portable hard drive, there is two and I've done my research for everyone:

    1. Seagate 2TB Portable http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Seagate-2505233-2TB-Backup-Plus-P…
    2. WD 2TB Portable Titanum http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Western-Digital-WDBMWV0020BTT-PE-…

On doing my research, both have a 3 year warranty, however the Seagate is 159 grams compared to WD's 230grams. Seagate is also much thinner. The Seagate is thinner due to using it's new 2.5" M9T drive (http://www.geek.com/chips/seagate-claims-worlds-thinnest-2tb…)

    LxWxH
    Seagate: 113.5mm x 76mm x 12.1mm - 159grams
    WD: 110.5mm x 82mm x 20.9mm - 230grams

I can see WD's selling more, but I think Seagate is the better drive, hence I'm pulling the trigger on a Seagate. I think WD provides a pouch don't think Seagate does though.

  • So, anyone want to help me as to which Nespresso to purchase for mum?

Is DeLonghi better or Breville? Is Pixie better or U?

    • +2

I've got a DeLonghi Lattissima Plus and I love it, I got mine for $335 after $100 cashback just before Christmas .. I dont like my cofee boiling so this suits me but like alot of reviews suggest if you like your cofee really hot this is not the right coffee machine for you .. not sure if there is a cashback running again atm?

      • Cool, The Lattissima is unfortunately out of my budget, but I ended up buying the U DeLonghi for $123 after 30% off and $60 cashback.

        http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Nespresso-EN210BAE-DeLonghi-U-Mil…

Thought I'd go for the below, which seems like a seperate milk frother and machine for $109, but meh only $14 extra for integrated.

        http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Nespresso-EN110OAE-DeLonghi-U-Cap…

        • +2

The Lattissima is not better IMO. My parents have a Lattissima and it's harder to clean than when you can do the milk frother separately, and it also doesn't froth milk as effectively. Despite my Mum insisting on us buying her a Lattisma for mothers day, she has now gone and bought a separate milk frother for those reasons.

        • u sure the cash back scheme is STILL ON??? as it says "Receive a $60 cashback from Nespresso via redemption on purchases before 12th January 2014!"???

        • Yes it's still on. They have extended it.

          https://www.nespressopromotion.com.au/cashback/terms

          a. Purchase a Participating Product from a Participating Retailer between Friday 21 March 2014 and close of business on Sunday 18 May 2014;

  • -1

Guys I dont understand one thing.
    For example
    http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/buyonline/Tefal_Fresh_Express_…
Its advertised as $78. But in ebay what we get after applying is

Tefal MB810 Fresh Express Max 260W Food Processor 260W Dishwasher Safe NEW
    Qty: 1
    AU $99.95
    Standard Services - AU $9.00
    Standard delivery
    Est. delivery Fri. 28 Mar.
    + AU $9.00
    Have a redemption codeApplyApply
AU $29.99 off voucher - CTHEGOODGUYS
    Subtotal (1 item)AU $99.95
    PostageAU $9.00
    Vouchers- AU $29.99
    Total:AU $78.96

So its $0.96 more including shipping. This means they are hiking the price and reducing it on ebay is it? Dont understand a logic.

    • Postage AU $9.00

    • +2

Yes, definitely compare prices first. I have seen some inconsistencies also but there are some fantastic deals and especially if you combine them with cashback offers. From a merchants perspective it would be in their best interest to get you into store rather than buying from ebay.

    • The discount does not apply to postage

      • -1

That makes sense. But still an item in their website says 78. If i include 78 + $9 postage comes to 87 which still doesnt add up to what its advertised in ebay as $99.95 + 9 AU postage.

I see its a rip off or they are taking a chance that people would buy off ebay directly without checking the direct site or on store.

    • +1

I think their Ebay prices are not updated when they have a catalogue special. I found one such item that is in today's catalogue for $139 and on Ebay it still shows for $178.

      • That is true

  • +2

didnt find anything…still +1 caz it might help someone else :D

  • Brilliant post!

  • quick, someone help me choose something good!

I bought a Garmin GPS for $74 delivered

  • +1

    Thanks OP. Bought a WD Ultra 2TB for $133.60 - $53.40 discount!

    • +1

Why the WD out of curiosity? see my post above

      • +2

Potentially because I've had so many Seagates fail in the past and no WD's fail in the same time.

        http://blog.backblaze.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/blog-fa…

        • +2

          I've had similar experience

        • I've had a whole string of WDs fail on me in the past few years. More than 10. I've also had a string of seagates fail too though. All drives suck!

        • I have had one hard drive that never needed replacing….its old and so reilable , its only 500gig huge box that cost like $165 when i bought it~ brand is Maxator, had it for 5 years~ warranty was also for 5 years lol

        • I had a few drives fail in the past. IBM, Hitachi coolspin fail twice (original + replacement) and a few older Seagate smaller size drives. WD and Samsung haven't failed me yet.

Not sure about the new Seagate externals using the new slim Samsung drives.

        • I've had a whole string of WDs fail on me in the past few years. More than 10. I've also had a string of seagates fail too though. All drives suck!

That's some serious bad luck. Maybe it's you? I want to claim that I've never had any HDD failure since 2000, but I don't want to jinx myself, so I won't make that claim…

        • Well realistically, "luck" can't apply to hard drives. :)
They were across different machines too.

        • Well I would suspect you have been mistreating them, because I haven't had near as many failures as you have, and I've owned a LOT of HDDs both internal and external. That's not to say I haven't seen failures on other people's HDDs, but I've had quite a lot of luck. Or maybe the fail rates I've experienced are within industry standards for HDDs?

The last time a HDD died on me was a Quantum who stopped making HDDs about 13 or 14 years ago.

        • maybe a power filter might be the answer… dirty power is a nasty animal.

        • Well I would suspect you have been mistreating them,

Nope - the drives are both from my home and at work - air conditioned, no vibration, no shock. They are branded computers so air flow is good with proper ball-bearing fans. One of them was an enterprise WD. The warranty replacement failed as well. Switched to Seagate - no problems at all for the past three years.

This post was from 2 years ago:
          http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1505296

I've now got a small box of external WDs which are dead as well.

maybe a power filter might be the answer… dirty power is a nasty animal.

My area has very good, clean power. I've had two or three power cuts in the past ten years. Never had any flickering lights or surges or anything. The failures are at multiple locations anyway.

  • Microwave on the blink.
    Saw Drbuckyballs post.
Got nice new LG m'wave reduced from $289 to $203 +delivery.
    Good day so far:)

  • +3

    Just ordered a Nexus 7 32GB :)

  • +2

Why does Dyson charge so much extra for a stick? If you compare their hand held vacuums with and without a stick, the price difference is massive. It's just a plastic tube! Can you buy the stick as a spare part and put it in your DC34/58? The cyclone tech is improved in the DC58 over the DC35 which you would think costs them more to provide, but the DC35 is more expensive purely because of a plastic tube!

    • +1

Its got wires down the shaft, still overpriced but that's apple, sorry, dyson for you

      • How much do these wires cost? Can you take the tube from a 35 and use it on a 34?

        • +1

          No idea and no idea.

        • +1

Confirming u can do this. But dyson know this, and make it very hard to just source the tube.
I managed to get one all the way over in the UK (I was over there) from an online spare parts seller.
          Works fine.

        • +1

Wow.. they're as bad as Apple almost. Only thing that separates them is that they allow their products to go on sale and don't control the price as strictly as Apple.

      • +1

Yes it's got wires - but it also comes with the large motorised floor tool.

        • It can't cost that much for a floor tool. Their Turbine head is only $129, and that is already overpriced. The tool included is not as expensive as the Turbine head.

    • I couldn't agree with you more…DC58 and DC59…around $200 difference for a plastic tube and a head…oh well…it's done….I am picking up my DC59 today from Masters…

      • It's actually $250 difference if you compare Animal to Animal.

You got them to beat TGG by 10%?

        • Managed 467.28 at masters the other week with a djs price match, dc59 animal. If your doing better than that then it's not a bad effort.

And in my opinion the animal part isn't worth the extra cash

With regard to the pole though, if you don't buy that you've wasted your money on a DustBuster. The point of the 59 is that it's a bit if a vacuum replacement.

  • Thanks OZ.
A little be poorer, but very satisfied. I suspect they don't realise what a thriving community we are.

  • Some comments above indicate that people are receiving a receipt by email from The Good Guys. I ordered a Moto G right when they were on the verge of selling out about 4 hours ago, and am worried that I didn't actually get one. So far I've had nothing from The Good Guys, just confirmation emails from Paypal and eBay. Am I missing anything?

    • +1

And, of course, literally seconds after posting this, I got an email from The Good Guys…

      • +3

        They're watching you….

  • +6

Such a good deal but so lost as to what to purchase!

  • +1

Thanks OP, just got a Dyson DC37C Origin for $487 + free Turbine Head via redemption for the MIL for Mother's Day.

Rang Dyson to double check and customer service confirmed Good Guys were participating retailers for the redemption. Redemption form: http://www.appliancesonline.com.au/images/general/promos/dys…

  • Excellent, Thanks got the UE boom.

Now wishing i got 2 or 3, shipping seems to be free after the first item

    • Really? I added 5 ink toners to my cart and I got hit with $45 shipping!

  • +2

Might be worth checking for cash backs or bonuses with the routers they have. Bought one recently and many brands had specials on their website.

  • +1

    Cheers.

Got the Nespresso BEC600MR Breville Citiz for $218.30 (inc postage) down from $299. Plus there is a $60 cashback from Nespresso bringing it in at $158.30 which is essentially half price.

  • going to be picking up my seagate 2tb hdd from my local store, saves me the $9 shipping, so total is $67. Was thinking about getting the 4tb, but pretty sure 2tb will tide me over for a while.

    • There's a pickup option?

      • not when you buy, once you get the good guys confirmation, give them a call and ask for the name of the processing store, than generally they can transfer you to the store and than ask to pick up the item. You either will get the shipping amount paid back to you at the store or via paypal depending on how you paid.

        • which store offered pickup with refund of postage?

  • anyone recom any good vacuum around 100-200 after dicount?
    Thx
