The best amex deal was dan murphys card 3 x $50 with $50 credit back.

      • +2

That was pretty good too. As was spend $250 at Myer, get $50 back (again, you could buy Coles Myer Gift Cards).
Percentage-wise, if you used the Shop Small for Opal recharges it was the best, as you would pretty much be paying 50%. i.e. recharge $20, get back $10. Only thing was some places charged a $1 surcharge or similar.

  • Hi- how do you find the direct links? can anyone point me to the direct link for the Hotel Club offer? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/191062

  • So does it work for supplementary cards?

    • yes,but you must register the card on amexconnect

      • Only if your supp card has a unique card number.

        • agreed…best if it does like the plat edge card otherwise only one deal

        • I'm curious. Is there any supp card that doesn't have a unique card number?

        • +1

          @bugsucher:

Yes. AFAIK all the bank-issued Amex cards, e.g. Westpac Altitude, etc., use the same card number for both primary and supp card holders even if they have different names on the cards.

        • @zzyss:

          Don't think this is correct.
I have primary and supplementary cards for NAB and ANZ in front of me (NAB Qantas Premium, ANZ Qantas Frequent Flyer, ANZ Rewards) and all of them have different card numbers between the primary card holder and supplementary.

I will be able to report back as to whether Westpac Altitude has a different card number later this week too.

I'm also wondering whether there's such thing as having a supplementary card with a different number.

        • +1

          @illumination:

I have Westpac Altitude Black, and my wife and my card numbers are identical with the Amex cards.

EDIT: this may help - http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=2302876

        • @zzyss: Fair enough. Learn something everyday.. I will assume it'll be the same for me with my Westpac Altitude Black then.
In which case, you can't register the supplementary card for the AMEX promos in addition to your own card?

        • @illumination:

Yeah, tried and failed from the very first attempt.

So it looks like it's mostly Westpac and CBA cards that are affected then.

        • @zzyss: Thanks.

I can now confirm that I have seen my first supplementary card with the same card number as the primary card (Westpac Altitude Black) for both AMEX and Mastercard.

    • +1

I didn't do it via amexconnect like IanC, but by using all the direct enroll links and manually entering the cards numbers in. Supplementary cards definitely work. I have done them in the past too.

  • Thanks OP for sharing!

  • Also,

are these deals only can be used once? Or multiple times between 5/5 to 5/7?

  • -1

How many times can you get the status credit?

  • Important Question - Is there a separate registration link for Trenery?

  • +2

    FYI
Topped up Myki at 7-Elven on 3 cards yesterday - Works
Bought 2x $100 Coles gift cards from liquorland with 2 cards - Works

David Jones Gift card Instore - not tried yet

    • +3

      DJ's is only online bro.

      • +1

Hope Mirage reads this before trying in-store out..

      • Phew! Thanks! I was really gonna go try tonight lol!

  • If I use my amex card at Sydney CBD based 7-Eleven and then use the same card at 7 Eleven in Blacktown, will I receive cashback twice?

    • No because it's still a 7-Eleven and the offer only lets you get the statement credit once. It doesn't matter which 7-Eleven you go to.

      • Anyone tried buying fuel at 7 eleven to get cashback?

        • Yes, it worked for me on petrol purchase:

"Congratulations, a statement credit is on its way. Thank you for making an eligible purchase and qualifying for our Amex Offer. Your $5 statement credit for spending $15 at 7-Eleven will be issued to your registered Card account. Statement credits are generally issued within 5 business days upon completion of your eligible transaction."

Did not buy anything else, just the fuel.

        • Bought fuel from 7 eleven and received cash back confirmation.

  • Great stuff, thank you.

  • topped up myki at 7/11 corner swanston and bourke (vic) and got my confirmation email! Thanks OP

  • Is the DJ cashback for the online store only or can you buy something in store and still get it?

  • Just bought $100 Liquorland gift card 2 hours ago….no "congratulations" email yet :(

    • Ouch! My other amex ones worked just yesterday but my CBA Amex didn't work today as well. Made me frantically search my emails to see if I actually did register the card!

Has anyone else not received their congrats email for liquorland?

      • -5

Yep, I bought one yesterday from LL and didn't get the email. I believe they have blacklisted the round figure amounts like $100, $150, $200 etc etc as LL wouldn't really have products with round figures. Trick should be to buy a gift card and then single beer or beer nuts.

        • Or…. take some groceries from Coles into LL, when the shops are attached.

      • no email on a $102.75 spend. at LL

        • +1

It has happened to me that I don't get a confirm email but I get a cash back 3 days later on my account

        • hope so.
also no email on the dj deal
both on amex plat edge cards

        • +1

          LL $15 received..no emails:

        • Was that from a gift card purchase?

        • +1

          yes for sure

      • I just bought a $100 gift card from LL and received the congrats email within a few minutes.

  • How to get the $15 off $50 for DJ?

    • not sure to be honest
I only have it on one of my AMEXs(the amex issued one)
i have about 3 other bank issued AMEX's which don't have that offer

  • I don't get any confirmation emails or confirmed credit emails for my bank issued Amex, only for my Amex issued Amex. Weird that they use 2 totally different systems for bank issued vs their own cards. Eg, you can have an ANZ and CBA card on network.amex (formerly AmexConnect) but if you want to link an Amex issued one, they make you create a new account.

  • Can anyone confirm if AMEX will still give the $40 credit if purchasing DJ egiftcards using the 10% off entertainment book link?

  • Can some one please confirm that they have received credits on bank issued cards using these links?
In the past, the americanexpress.com links were for the non-bank issued cards.
Bank issued cards needed to use a different link such as https://enroll.amexnetwork.com/AU/en/harrisfarmcredit/

    • I registered through the same link. I'll report back as soon as I see the credits.

    • +1

Got the credits on all the bank amex cards.

      • Thank you.

    • I can also confirm receiving email re credit for using Westpac Amex. No actual credit received yet.

      • And I've received the credit.

  • Managed to hit it all of my 20 amex cards. Took a while to register them all but now expecting 100 dollars back on 300 dollars worth of petrol.

    • 20! wow….how do you keep track of them all??

      • I spread my spend on 4, the rest are a combination of recent promotions, and additional cards off my partner's accounts.

I'll be closing most of them before the next year fees kick in.

  • Hello

Does any1 use to buy or know if can use 2 Amex cards at Harvey Norman? I want to buy one product at H.N, the price is more than $700, i wonder if i can pay with 2 Amex cards? If can, I should get credit back $50 from each card right? (both cards register to this offer)

Thank you for the deal and for reply.

    • There's no technical reason why not. It just depends on the kindness of your local HN checkout clerk. But it would be a safe bet that they will be very reluctant to do it, especially being Amex, and on top of that two cards… (they do incur extra fees)

      • just buy a gift card on one and go back through the checkout and pay the balance :)

        • Just check the Harvey Norman term and condition,

          • Offer valid online and in-store.
          • Excludes e-gift card purchases made online.
          • Excludes physical gift cards bought in-store.

I will go to the store tomorrow and will update what happen,

        • @asuka03:

those are the same conditions for liquorland, david jones etc and it works perfectly fine. last time i also did harvey norman ones and it worked ifne back then too. also some users are reporting CR/Trenery are working too, so i think you're safe :)

    • Harvey Norman at Garden City Qld did it no worries. Actually used 2 Amex, a 28 Degrees MasterCard and a prepaid visa card. Cashier just asked how much I wanted on each card.

      • Second on et76's comment. I used two credit cards to buy one item before. No problem.

        • I was worried for nothing, I told the girl at H.N that i want to split payment and she said no problem.
And already received 2 email from Amex for the deal. Thank you all again.

  • +2

Valid for buying gift card at Country Road - received the congrats email immediately.

  • Can anyone confirm if they have got their cashback yet on the Coles LL giftcard purchases? Or is it too early to tell?

    • yes i got the credit for buying the CM gift card

    • yes received…dated one day after purchase but was actually a 3 day gap..
      no emails at all received.

  • For anyone intending to recharge Opal's at 7-Eleven, note that not all 7-Eleven's accept AMEX for Opal top ups (this is what I was told).
Also there's no such thing as a $15 recharge for Opal. It's either $10 or $20. And to be eligible for the $5 credit, it has to be in one transaction, so you'll have to get $20.
Maybe you could ask for a $20 and $10 recharge and do $15 on 2 cards though..

    • Do they let you split the payment in two $15?

    • shrug I just did 2 x $20 top ups. Still works out to be 25% off Opal, and it's not like I don't burn through $40 in a couple of weeks catching PT every day anyway.

      • So any 7-eleven in CBD where we can use amex to do opal top up?

        • Sorry, I'd do it if I wasn't sick as a dog, but see if you can find either on here or on Whirlpool the Google Sheet somebody compiled during last year's Shop Small promo. Pretty sure some CBD 7 Elevens were listed there.

EDIT: found it, it was on One Drive and is no longer shared by the original user who created it. Sorry.

        • @zzyss:

I found the list (search for Opal Amex Castlereagh) but there were no 7-11s on it.

        • @roughana: I created that thread and it definitely didn't have any 7-11 as they were not part of shop small. At least not in Sydney

        • +3

          Yes.
The one on George St opposite QVB (same side as TGV) accepts AMEX.
As does the one opposite World Square on George St (near that adult bookshop).

Those were the only two I tried and both accepted it fine.

        • @illumination: Thanks will try them on Monday

  • Worked on my David Jones Storecard that I can only use at David Jones; got the qualifiying e-mail this morning (had to enrol manually) after making a few purchases online (with staff discount as well). Thanks OP!

  • Did anyone get the extra $15 gift card from DJ. the QANTAS code doesn't apply to gift cards, so no use for me.

  • Can anyone confirm whether Sydney CBD DJ store accepts Westfield Gift card as well? I think Myer CBD store accepts it, just not sure about the DJ CBD store.

    • I don't think DJ SYD CBD takes Westfield Gift cards. They're located in their own building, next to the SYD Westfield, but not inside it. I heard someone said about this before. But I have never tried it.

    • +1

      Yes they do.

Source: Currently working there now, typing up this reponse. ;)

  • +1

Just recharged my and the husband's Myki cards at a 7-Eleven using four Amex cards. The guy at the cashier looked at us funny. I think he thought we couldn't afford to pay for it all on one card. Heh. Got a rush out of getting several hundred points and $20 cash back for money we spend every month anyway. Thanks, OP!

    • +1

At least you have your hubby with you! Last small shop promo, I went out with 4 cards by myself topping up 2 Opal cards and buying stuff around Sydney CBD. Some of them looked at me funny but some said they knew what I was doing.

Next promo I will have to do 6 cards by myself since my partner won't do it.

      • I do multiple trips to avoid 'the look/stare' from the staff and customers waiting at the queue.

The last promo I went to Dan Murphy, I was so embarrassed that when the queue was getting so long that another cash register need to open up. It was not nice and unpleasant when all eyes were staring at me wondering why the hell I need to buy so many gift cards with these Amex cards on my hand.

        • +2

Yeah, just to be fair to other customers I went to the back of the queue after each transaction.
