        • @taQ: Was 'bout to ask what happened to you. Thank you for my M&M yellow cushion. I'm hugging him (no homo) while typing this.

      • Premium CheeseNokiaBurger?

  • You go tight arse give em heaps good buy

  • Noooooo i paid $27.55 for it. I could get this one for $17.1

  • Great deal, though an extra $10 gets you 3 months Netflix from OW/DSE/Kmart.

    Will this work with lycamobile?

    • +1

Lycamobile uses the Telstra mobile network so good chance it will work.

      • +2

Be careful when you purchase this phone to use with carriers other than Telstra. I bought one of these at BigW in March, Telstra locked. I also bought an Aldi SIM to use with the phone without success. I'm not sure about Lyca or Boost.

        • +2

Yes I suppose so. Only way to know for sure if Lycamobile SIM works on these Telstra Lumia 530 is to try it.

        • FYI, ALDI SIM does work in my old Telstra-locked Lumia 610.

        • @manic: That is probably because 610 was released long before 530. I couldn't use ALDI SIM with mine from BigW so I just wait till I can unlock it with Telstra credits.

          Also see 886648's comment

        • Checked with lycamobile, doesn't work:(

      • +1

Lycamobile, although they use the Telstra network, has their own MCC/MNC which is 50519. Telstra is 50501. They gain access to telstra by 'roaming' onto the Telstra network (50519 towers don't exist at all).

In other words, Telstra locked phones don't work with Lycamobile sims.

        • True. I found out my Telstra HTC HD7 phone is indeed factory unlocked so that's the reason Lycamobile was working for me.

You'll need to buy an unlock code for $20 off eBay if you want too use one of these Telstra Lumia 530 on Lycamobile.

    • +2

It didn't work on my Telstra locked Lumia 530 until I unlocked with following credit after six months.

$19, Cheap! Still a crap phone!

    • -3

Agree. A piece of crap is not a bargain.

    • +17

For what it is and for the price it's going for I think it's a great phone.

      +GPS
      +Music and Video Player
      +Expandable storage (up to 128GB)
      +Very responsive interface
      +Microsoft Office

      -Poor screen
      -Poor camera

      Can't beat that for $19.

      • Will the GPS/navigation app work without a SIM? If it's using Nokia Here I think it may but if someone could confirm that'd be great.

        • +5

I have a $0 credit SIM in the phone and it works fine.

        • +1

          @ddhytz: Cool, thanks for confirming!!

        • yep : )

    • +2

        • Thanks for bringing this to our attention ;-)

        • office works has optus ones for $29 however they are not price matching as its locked to a different network. (Penrith store)

  • ta. How did you get it so early?
    :P

  • TA = awesome.

    Well done.

  • -1

Bought for $29. 3 Months Netflix. Free Unlock.

    • +2

      Free unlock. How?

      • OPtus Chat.

        • I tried chat but they won't do it
How did you do it? For free

        • @davemurphy: I had online chat with optus and mentioned that on website it says its not locked, they checked and gave me the code after getting my IMEI. May be all the chat people won't help. But for me it worked.

        • @karan7sehgal: so they still did it for you even you didn't buy from optus store?
          did they ask you that?

        • @davemurphy: They didnt ask from where i bought.

        • +3

          @karan7sehgal:

They didnt ask from where i bought.

          first rule of Optus Club

        • @karan7sehgal: lucky. when did you chat with them?

        • @davemurphy:
Call them again. Some staff in office have access to a Nokia site that can generate a free unlock code. That is how I got mine unlocked.

        • @davemurphy: today

      • Oops

  • each time i try unlock this phone Optus website says 'this device is not locked' and everyone just gave up on trying…. so whats the story?

    • did u buy with telstra pack or optus pack?

      • optus

        • if it says unlocked, then try putting other provider and check if their sim cards work. Maybe its already unlocked

        • @roshanrbb: its locked…

lots of people here and on WP getting the same thing. everyone just seemed to give up on it

        • +1

          @ShinjukuJR: Talk to optus

        • +1

          @roshanrbb:

I've already tried on two of them I bought from Kmart. The Optus Lumia 530 are Optus network locked even if it says otherwise on the Optus mobile phone online unlocker.

        • +1

          @hollykryten: Do online chat

  • Thanks!!.So who is going to be hovering around Big W at opening time to grab some of these? (even if the screen is fugly)

  • you da bomb diggity TA

  • +1

Which footy team do you go for TA?

  • Big W have paid a large bonus to the catalogue deliverers to make sure they are completed no later then 5pm Sunday.

    • Must be a pretty big sale.

  • I am going to return 2 bought from kmart a few days ago for 2 bigw ones. Don't care about carrier lock as I use it for GPS.

    • Your idea might not work. The Telstra prepaid mobile handset sale term at Big W is 1 phone per customer.

      • +3

Thanks for that, will get my wife to help :-)

  • +3

I paid $29 at Dick's today for that. You know how many Eneloops and LED torches I could have bought with that ten bucks?

    • +2

      3 month's worth of netflix?

  • I say. This may be a 1 mobile phone per customer term deal.

    "TELSTRA PRE-PAID HANDSETS"

"Limit 1 per customer and no trade sales."

..are we just going to pretend there isn't any guy in green shirt and checking out/touching his balls at the bottom right corner of the phone?

    • +2

Guy in front of him seems pretty impressed with it

    • Maybe that's why the guy right next to him is laughing.

      • Aaaaahahahahahahahaha!!!! Oh shit you guys made lol pretty damn hard :-D

    • Lol…can't under this now…why!!

    • That's exactly what I though of when I bought my phone 3 months ago.

  • Please, your Highness, ignore this Keatingian curtsy lapse of protocol, your leadership, timely pertinence is needed.

  • Is this in store only?

  • Question (apologies if this has been asked before): From the EDR e-mail I received regarding the Toy Sale reminder for 22-24 June preview night, does this mean if I have an EDR card I can buy items for the prices listed in the Toy Sale catalogue on the 22-24 June?

  • T&C below the offer talks about a minimum purchase $50: Any idea is that correct?
" *TERMS AND CONDITIONS No deposit Lay-by - Minimum purchase $50 and a $5 service fee applies. Minimum of $5 fortnightly payments required."

    • Their lay-by standard policy is always $50 minimum - see their lay-by terms at http://www.bigw.com.au/lay-by

Note: At the bottom of that page are changed terms for this sale:

For lay-bys initiated during our Total Toy Domination 2 event (Toy Sale) from 25 June - 8 July, please note the following changes to our standard lay-by terms and conditions:

No Deposit - Lay-bys taken out from our Toy Sale catalogue & in-store advertising will not incur the standard 10% deposit.

Extended Term – The standard lay-by term has been extended to allow payment in full and collection by 7th December 2015.

Service Fee - Our standard $5.00 non-refundable service fee will be charged for each new lay-by.

Stores that do not have a lay-by facility are:
      363 Box Hill
      278 Macarthur
      391 QV Melbourne
      122 Canberra City
      191 Canberra Airport
      135 Auburn
      368 Doncaster
      454 Karrinyup

  • I'm guessing the curved back will be an issue if using with sticky mat on dash?

  • When unlocked, will this phone work on Optus 900MHz?

GSM arena shows 2 lines but not 2 separate model numbers

    3G bands HSDPA 900 / 2100
    HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100

Edit: Oh, I don't get the full catalogue yet when clicking on the link in the OP.

  • +1

Stupid question - but can I use apps on these without putting a sim in it? Just connecting to wireless network at home? Or download shows to it?

I have kids who always steal our phones to play games/watch cartoons whilst at shops, but thought this might be a cheap alternative without having to register it to a network.

    • Yep, you can definitely do that.

    • You may be disappointed by the amount games available.

  • My local store says opening hours for the deal is at Midnight. Normally it opens at 8.30 am. I don't know if is for all stores but if you want one you are going to have to stay up late.

    • Vic branch?

  • is it possible to layby one now and pay for it on the 25th?

    • is it possible to layby one now and pay for it on the 25th?

No. If you layby today, you pay at today's price ($79).

    • Went to my local Kmart store today and couldn't see any on display any how. I don't even think they have them in stock yet. Current price is $79 according to the Big W website and won't be $19 until next Thursday.

      • +5

You looked for the cheap BigW deal at KMart eh? And it didnt work out huh?

        ;-)

        • Typo. Meant to say Big W store, not Kmart. :)

  • How does the Telstra locking work if I go overseas?

I am hoping to buy 6 and then giving them to family members.

    • You can use overseas with Telstra's roaming.

It would be much cheaper to buy an unlocked phone and use a local sim.

    • +1

You need to unlock them before your family members in other countries can use them as a phone.
Contact this guy to confirm they can unlock the phone ($20 on ebay)

  • What are some useful things to use Telstra credit on the WP8 store? (apps/subscriptions)
I realised you can't even change the keyboard to a custom one on the Lumia!

    • The keyboard is delicious. Word flow is amazing.

      • +1

Typical coming from someone named 'Food'. What does it taste like?

        • White chocolate :p
Nah it's a good keyboard, trust me!
