        Be careful when you purchase this phone to use with carriers other than Telstra. I bought one of these at BigW in March, Telstra locked. I also bought an Aldi SIM to use with the phone without success. I'm not sure about Lyca or Boost.

          Yes I suppose so. Only way to know for sure if Lycamobile SIM works on these Telstra Lumia 530 is to try it.

          @manic: That is probably because 610 was released long before 530. I couldn't use ALDI SIM with mine from BigW so I just wait till I can unlock it with Telstra credits.

        Lycamobile, although they use the Telstra network, has their own MCC/MNC which is 50519. Telstra is 50501. They gain access to telstra by 'roaming' onto the Telstra network (50519 towers don't exist at all).

        In other words, Telstra locked phones don't work with Lycamobile sims.

          True. I found out my Telstra HTC HD7 phone is indeed factory unlocked so that's the reason Lycamobile was working for me.

          You'll need to buy an unlock code for $20 off eBay if you want too use one of these Telstra Lumia 530 on Lycamobile.

    Stupid question - but can I use apps on these without putting a sim in it? Just connecting to wireless network at home? Or download shows to it?

    I have kids who always steal our phones to play games/watch cartoons whilst at shops, but thought this might be a cheap alternative without having to register it to a network.
