      • Probably sold to staffs in that case I guess, or one person bought 23?

        • Prolly, who knows.. or someone grabbed some last night. I was there as the shutters went up and went straight to the phone counter. Figured there would be at least two or I would of sprinted ahead of the guy in front :) He got one and that was it.. another bloke then queued up who also wanted one. Some others went for the toys..

  • Just called pagewood NSW. It's sold out :(

bought 3 at garden city this morning!!

    • Christ why would you need 3?

      • do you expect a no for an answer?

      • +1

To sell some for a profit on eBay obviously. Why else would people be buying say 10 of them.

Although the sale terms specifically states 1 per customer. These staff selling multiple units to people are failing that.

        • +2

must be the same folks who were there when they had games going for 3$ selfish people. I would be happy to get one. But at this rate there would be nothing left by lunch time:(

        • -4

$500+ profit last week, thanks to bigw!

      • Drug dealer or mistresses.

Needed a cheap phone for Dad. BigW at Brisbane city was sold out. Went to OfficeWorks got the Optus Locked one for $29 (http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/m20ProductDisplayView?cat…)

    To Unlock Optus for free:
Used my TPG number (runs on Optus) to unlock it at https://secure-unlock.com.au/ou/launch

    • I tried for that site to try unlock my Optus Lumia 530 and it keeps saying it's not a locked device which is plain wrong. It worked first go for an Optus Sony Xperia E1 prepaid which I also bought recently for $49.

    • Nope I just tried again this time using my amaysim number (runs through Optus) and it's still saying not a locked Optus prepaid mobile.

  • Bought 2 this morning at Southland Vic - Parkmore and Karingal both sold out.

  • For what I've been reading on this thread there's very limited stock supply at stores that even currently have any in stock. Typical they start a sale but have insufficiently available stock when it actually starts.

  • Sold out in BigW Brookvale

  • Sold out in Plumpton NSW

  • Just a question, do you know how big is offline Australia map in HERE, I try to download then system keeps saying no space, need a sd card.does anyone download before?

        • Sorry i should have clarified that my HERE maps on android phone is ~730 MB.

      • Sorry, dupe comment

      • +2

    • +1

you need to instal a microSD card

      • +1

The question is what SIZE microSD card.

  • Seriously how do the stores sell out so quick? Do they only stock 10 per store or something?

    • +4

      less

    • 2 is closer to the truth.

    • Brisbane CBD had 2.

    • +1

      Reckon employees bought a lot.

      • I reckon so too. Probably a lot of stock reserved by employees before sale even opens to the public.

        • +3

Do you really think 17 year old behind the counter really has any interest in one? They probably have iPhone 6s and haven't thought of their use as a GPS unit.

        • @PainToad: or maybe their parents/friends are Brodens in the making ;)

        • +1

          @PainToad: they aren't all 17…

    • Especially when you see stacks, I mean Stacks, of games, consoles and Amiibo's piled up at the Technology counter waiting to be sold.

Obviously didn't expect a rush on $19 Nokia Phones?

  • +1

Garden city, Carindale and Stafford all sold out (Brisbane region)

  • +2

Joy drive 40 mins to get one at Southland…get home open box screened cracked….wonderful….grrrrrrr

    • Lucky it wasn't an expensive phone. Although you probably spent $10 in fuel alone getting there.

    • dam was it used?

      • Nope, they replaced it with the last one they had….lucky!!!

  • Yeah sold out at Chullora, Campsie, Pagewood and some some places.

  • Went to Ballarat store at 9:30am this morning, and it was sold out. Then I called up an hour ago to double check and is still the case.

  • Does anyone know for certain if here maps allows waypoints, so I can do a route for a bike ride?
Some websites say yes and some say no.

Officeworks will price match for me .

    • what did you provide for them to match against?
In my case they looked at the online bigW catalogue and said nope that's locked to Telstra, ours are Optus!

      • +1

        The 530 in this deal

"In my case they looked at the online bigW catalogue and said nope that's locked to Telstra, ours are Optus"

In my case he did not care

  • +1

Big W in Melb city only got 12 in. They don't do rainchecks either. Complained as bait advertising to get you in store.
    Should complain to accc.

    • +1

I think 12 is a fair amount and definitely not bait and switch.

      • +2

12 is a pitiful amount for a city like Melbourne.

    • hmmmmm I should have read these comments before I went down there.

Dude said they all sold yesterday morning. 12 is FA for that store, should have had 120 at least.

  • +5

So I had tried my luck at getting officeworks to price match, but they (all three stores I tried) were too savvy for my liking.

Then I just tried calling various local big w stores and was told what you guys were told - sorry sold out. But the I called STRATHPINE BIG W. Apparently a memo went out telling big w stores that once the 530 sold out that they could offer the 532 at the same price. Yesssss. I thought it too good to be true, so I loaded the baby in the car, drove 20 minutes up the road and was surprised when I got my 532 for $19 (plus the $20 unlock fee on ebay).

So go hit up your local stores and DEMAND they give you a 532 instead.

  • according to posts above, stores that sold out still showing as 'In Stock' on their website?

    • Yeah, says "low stock"

    • Yeah, had that problem all day. Even a store that supposedly had stock were completely sold out.

  • don't hurry spending $20 on ebay.
I found some guys who may unlock it for about $6. I paid and waiting for their response in 24 hours.
    it's unlock-code-store.com
don't rush on them as well, lets wait if I can have unlock code.

A member of our unlock team is currently calculating your unlock code and will contact you by email at your paypal registered email address {don't look here}@gmail.com within 24 hours.

    • +2

They're the same guys who claimed on their web site they could unlock my Optus Nokia Lumia 530 which they failed at miserably. All i can say is not genuine. Don't hold your breath you will get no where with it.

ps. This might give you a hint. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/196561?page=1#comment-2796…

      • well, i paid with paypal and will have refund if they fail

        • +2

They will fail. And they will not automatically supply a refund but you'll have to initiate a Paypal dispute. It's not a legit unlocking service.

At least the $20 deal on eBay has a real chance of supplying an unlock code due to the high positive feedbacks. This other mob is no chance. You get what you pay for.

        • You will need a Paypal dispute.

The next email you will get in about a day later from a Benjamin claiming that the system wasn't able to automatically generate an unlock code and asking for further information to be entered into a form. And then another day later another email saying that they were unable to generate a code claiming that your details will be forwarded to an accounts team for a refund which never comes. It's all a scam to drag it out for days hoping then you'd forget about it.

        • @hollykryten:

You are absolutely right - I got "the next email" (((
          Crap!
          Started dispute in paypal.
          Had you got your refund?

        • @hollykryten:
I started dispute this morning and already got refund.

        • @SHPION:
all they want is your name and email address, unfortunately.

        • @ddhytz:
          What's the point?
They scammed me a lot, i dont'n have a single issue - gmail blocks most of the shit, the rest i can resolve once a year…

        • @SHPION:
          sell your details to others.

      • Same scam site being run under another domain name.

No stock of 530 on my local big w, was offered the 532 instead for the same price. I think specs wise they are the same, so managed to grab one!

    • +1

As discussed earlier, the 532 is much better. What store was this?

      • Picked up a 532 yesterday. I is a great phone for the money, the spec's are better and the screen is also of better quality.

    • Lumia 532 has twice the amount of RAM and storage capacity.

      • yes, i did a quick google while buying it.

        • I think specs wise they are the same

          I'm confused…

    • going to check out my local store tmr
if theres no 530 and they offer 532, im going to get one and have play around windows phone

    • Can you upload the receipt so can ask other BigW for the 532 instead?
I bought one his morning and my colleague also want one for his dad but sold out at Southland, if he told me I could have grab one for him this morning so if he can get the 532 instead for the same price then that would be great.

  • +1

I got it from Epping, vic.
I only grabbed one, so many more available for you guys (if you are nearby).

    • +1

I got one from Blacktown Big W yesterday. They are offering 532 instead of 530..so got 532 for $19.. Had good stock there yesterday..I have seen more than 10 in the counter itself.

      • Lucky in Macquarie they were selling it for $99 because they had 530 still in stock.

  • anyone in WA managed to get a hold of one? i tried two stores, gave up and went to Kmart for $29. just had a major case of CBF lol

    • +1

Yep, got one at Riverton, they had 6 in stock.

      • thanks. might crawl over there today, and see if there's any left.

        • +1

Best to call first, as I bought on Thursday morning.

  • Was just at BigW Epping vic. They had new stock of 530 (no chance for 532 which im after). There were like 6 boxes of 530 at the counter.

  • No go with 532 and 530 sold out at Southland, Vic as of Friday lunchtime.

  • We Will See

Called Geelong, Vic. Still no stock and no 532 replacement being offered. Told to wait and see, at the mercy of the supplier.

Are Big W stores franchised? If one offers the 532 others are 'obliged' to follow???

    • Are Big W stores franchised?

      No

      others are 'obliged' to follow?

      No

  • I just got 530 from Boxhill Big W. Whats the cheapest way to unlock this thing or should I just stick with the telstra sim for now. Thanks

  • -1

    • +7

Think about what you just typed there…

  • Sold out at the Melb CBD BigW

  • None left at Macquarie Centre (was sold out 9am yesterday lol)

    • Did they offer the 532 instead?
