Tips:

  • Use "add to basket" if you are buying more than one item to minimise the number of times you use this coupon, while ensuring your basket holds less than $1,500 of items to avoid the $300 cap.
  • Do your research first. Some retailers/items may be overpriced, certain items will be cheaper elsewhere even without the 20% off.
  • As always don't forget 2% cash back from Cash Rewards. Help
  • Dick Smith is having their own sale on their site. It's always best to compare the prices between DSE eBay and the DSE website.

How good would it be if eBay did a 20% sitewide tomorrow for last day???

    Can only hope?

    • +1

This deal is still on tomorrow, but it won't be sitewide.

        But the next I meant!

        The 30th!

  • Any thought on this please? http://m.ebay.com.au/itm/121651133368?nav=SEARCH

I know it is refurnished, after 20% off is $596, is it worth getting? Cheers.

    • You might wanna consider putting an SSD in that thing (probably a 256GB one, about $120), otherwise I think it's gonna be really slow with the HDD that comes with it.

  • Is it safe to buy refurnished laptop from OO, anyone has experience? Cheers

    • +1

I bought one off them 18 months ago. It came in like new condition and didnt show signs of being refurbished. I've had a few hiccups with faults but it's all been covered under factory warranty. For the amount of money i saved I would do it again

Hi Guys posted earlier but didn't hear back - has anyone seen any OK laptops that would come to around $400-$500 after discount for my Dad? He just uses it for emails/YT every now and then. Maybe to write in Microsoft word.

Hi, i suggest you to go with this one $238 after 20% off plus you can claim further $40 cashback from acer for this particular model. i have this laptop from last few weeks and it's going very well for basic stuff as you mentioned before.

      http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Acer-NX-MRUSA-001-ES1-411-C2TL-14…

      • +1

Several deals about these (if you're planning to buy I suggest you read some of them for all the tips owners have shared) both dual core and quad core versions. I own two of the latter and they're fantastic for what they are, a cheapy laptop.

@sj2can: Bare in mind you'll most likely want to upgrade to 8GB RAM and 120GB SSD like the majority have done putting this laptop around the $360 mark, less if you on-sell the HDD like I did. Unsure if JB HI FI are still doing the quad core version, between the two that's the slightly better version. If you buy from eBay don't forget CashRewards 2% cash back as well (another $4 in your pocket)

The odd "Windows 8.1 with Bing" OS also qualifies for Windows 10 Home free upgrade, so you're getting a lot for the price IMHO.

        • I think I'll get the Acer ES1-411, it comes to around $193 with the 20% off, cashback & cash rewards. I think I'll take your suggestion and sell the HDD too, and upgrade to a SSD and / or 8gb ram.

Did you notice a big jump after upgrading to 8gb ram & a SSD?

          Thanks for your tips :)

Arrrghh or the HP Stream 11 and add a large capacity SD card. Thoughts?

        • +2

@sj2can: You will notice more performance with SSD upgrade as opposed to just RAM upgrade. If you only want to do one, SSD is the better choice. Of course, doing both you will notice a further increase.

        • +1

          @sj2can:

luztra summed it up as well as I could. Basically I strongly recommend getting both upgrades. These laptops are limited to SATA2 due to chipset limitations, don't dispair that's not as bad as it sounds. For one, you can now buy a cheaper SSD and it'll perform as good as a much more expensive one and secondly, a SSD at SATA2 still wipes the floor with any HDD, case closed.

One of my laptops (the wife's) I left at 2GB but it is a bit of a bottleneck, I had to open up heaps of pagefile (virtual memory) to keep it happy - for her its perfectly fine but for me I notice it struggling in multitasking (something the wife doesn't really do to be fair). If you like to open a few things at once, buy the RAM! 4GB if you want to save money, otherwise go all out and get 8GB like I (and most people) did.

Opening up the laptop is easy (17 screws), accessing everything inside is simple too, just be careful of the speaker wire when you first lift the back off, it's very short and needs to be disconnected before you can fully expose the underside.

Summary: Great little laptops for the price, easy to modify - I even upgraded the WiFi chipset in mine (Intel 7260) for $28 gave me 5Ghz AC = 49MB/s in same room as modem and around 20-25MB/s in the next room. This is an upgrade very few bothered with but it's still an option should you be interested, and also dead simple to physically do.

I won't get into the HP Stream 11, other than 11" vs 14", for me I hate 11", I actually gave my (nicer) 11" laptop to my daughter because of my aging eyes. YMMV though :)

        • @Click_It:
Yep - I'm confident I can take it apart A-Ok. The Dual Core model Vik posted would be fine right [vs the quad model you got]. After cashback it comes to ~ $193 which is insane. Did you have to buy a SSD mount or do you just slot it in where the HDD was? I'm going to sell the HDD too to cover some of the cost of the upgrade, cheers guys.

          FYI this is the model:
          http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Acer-NX-MRUSA-001-ES1-411-C2TL-14…

        • @sj2can:

Dual vs Quad, in synthetic benchmarks there was a considerable difference however I'm always a little skeptical of those. I think real world performance would place the 2 models closer together unless you're doing tasks that specifically utilises all 4 cores - and with a $200 laptop most of the time you probably aren't. Just my 2c. If you can get the quad for similar $, just get it but otherwise the dual should be fine.

Some people looked into caddys to keep the HDD but I don't know if anyone actually succeeded with that one, me personally wanting battery over capacity I never explored that further to give any advice.

Yep that's the dualcore version of my quadcore. All identical other than the 2 core difference.

        • @Click_It:
For the caddy, I just mean when I take out the HDD does the SSD slot right in, or do I need to get a specific mount for it? Thanks Click.

        • @sj2can:

Ah, just unscrew screws, remove HDD, insert SSD, rescrew screws :P

Nothing needed other than small phillips head screwdriver ;)

        • @Click_It:

  • Hi Folks - trust you all are having happy bargain hunting. Has anyone come across a good value monitor using this deal? (Its getting too annoying using my little 11" Macbook air - especially for games…)

    • +1

just wait for a dell special, get one of the noname monitors from ebay mentioned on ozbargain sometimes, or buy a tv with low input lag and use that as a monitor (ps tv as monitor is awesome)

      • Will wait for a Dell Special - Thanks for the tips mate!

        • i have the u2414 i think and would recommend it for quality and piece of mind, but after trying out my 48" sony tv with my laptop, i want to use the sony all the time when gamimg. shonky is right - for any word processing or web browsing its much better to use a monitor.

      • +1

TVs are good for monitors for gaming but generally not good for desktop work due to the reduced colour space they mostly accept.

  • Any stock of Macbook 12" MK4N2X/A for 20% off?

    • Yes, 20% off after applying the code C20EXTRA, here you are

      Apple 12" MacBook MK4N2xx/A (1.2GHz Core M, 512GB, Gold)

      • Yes but the Kogan price is AU $2,836.95, !!! a massive price increase from RRP of $2199.

    • JB doing them for $1977.30.,

      But with the following message:

"This MacBook is in very limited supply and has been temporarily removed from online sale. More stock is due in July.",

Does anyone know if Apple or OW would price match with JB?

      • +1

OW will as long as it in stock.. meaning JB is NOT in stock.. (I assume)
I got the 256Gb version price matched Good Guys $1619 price a month back less 5%.
If you call OW they will price match and free delivery it to you (as its over $50 purchase)
Just call OW and see what they say

        • Thanks ezza - will ask OW and see what they say.

    • Any colour ok as long as the 1.2GHZ 512GB SSD version.

  • Trying to buy an item from Super Cheap Auto, but for some reason even though I select a pick up store it says it cannot post to my default location! Anyone have such an issue or how they go about ordering an item to be picked up from store?

    • +1

Do you have a PO box as the default location ?

Edit the delivery address to a home address and it will let you select the C&C point.

      • OK, but it is strange behavior even when I have selected the pick up location. So should I change address before order or change at the add to cart stage?
        Thanks for your help.

        • You can edit it later as you checkout either way should work.

        • @strat: Cheers will give it a go.

Just bought UE Boom from TGG just remind that if you click and collect from them make sure you select your address match your driver license.

I have my office address default when I ordered which didn't match my driver license. The lady ask me to use Office email to send an email to them with company logo etc to prove it. Also have to forward the paypal payment email to them.

Their online ordering system is terrible if pick up in store.

    • I'll second that, it's not in any way/shape/form a good experience.

      • They still have so many manual works to do when processing an order. Like asked me to sign a book or something lol ….

Any guesses what's next after the C20Extra promo? Isn't it odd that this expires today and there is still 30/6 before EOFY. Considering the $50 off voucher expired 25/6 and C20Extra kicked in 26/6.

Also is it legal to jack up the RRP just before a discount promotion?

I know nothing and I am associated with no one.

    • +3

On 30/6 they will have 30%* off site wide*

      • +4

  • Can anyone recommend a good wireless router? I have a bob lite but the wifi is a bit average.

I get NBN soon so it needs to be compatible.

  • +4

RIP…, somehow I can't see this 20% sale being as successful as the previous ones. Fewer participating shops with less items/inventory (compared to their non ebay website) and some prices being jacked up to make the most profits. Ozbargainers have grown to be wiser, hopefully Kogan and dick would learn this time around.

  • -5

whats the best mid range laptop deal going on.. save me looking at 16 pages..

  • So I have added 2 items in my cart from Masters, go to checkout and there is an error.

They have first added 29;95 postage then taken it away and then I add the code for 20% OFF but the total now includes postage again - error or just mean?

    http://i59.tinypic.com/260c4cm.jpg

    • the discount excludes postage so that's how it should be

  • -2

Bought couple of items from goodguys and applied the code. It said $68 with $17 discount, but my paypal account is charged with $86. Why is that?

    Thanks

    • +1

As I remember it should have a separate entry for the discount in paypal.

      • There is no separate entry till now.

        • Yes, I got it now. Thanks

  • +6

I sincerely hope this price inflation has lost their stores some sales. I know I personally would have spent a lot more if the prices hadn't jumped immediately prior to the sale.

Case in point: Deals Direct Sandisk Cruiser 8GB Fit usb flash drive.
Price before sale: $14.95 (last purchase 24/Jun/15 1:16pm)
    Price during sale: $31.90.
    http://offer.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBidsLogin&item…

Some minor price bumping I could understand, especially on popular items, but to be honest everything I looked at was overly inflated. In most cases even with the 20% off and free shipping from the ebay stores I was only saving a few dollars in comparison to the everyday prices.

Very disappointing. At least my wallet escaped a beating this time around.

    • Futu Online did the same thing as did some of the other retailers on this deal. For instance Kogan. Their website prices were cheaper than their eBay store prices! Making the 20% discount only slightly cheaper than they online store price.

      • I think it's mainly due to the 10% eBay fee + shipping, at least for Kogan anyway. On their website they have cheaper prices + shipping for the customer to pay, while Kogan eBay is more expensive + all free shipping. Considering their shipping prices are usually pretty high (at least $20+)… Their eBay price wouldn't necessarily be more expensive, but of course that varies depending on what you buy from them.

I went into Harvey Norman to see if they could price match a Dryer.
They told me the products on Good Guys eBay store are seconds or something called "T2" which apparently means imports!

Is this true? or is it just the bastards @ Harvey Norman lying! I hate them - scum!
