    • according to optus online chat discount is applied automatically. i suspect at least you can call & request post signup.. sweet deal!

      • I just signed up with this , ported from TPG, they added the -$10 per month on top of this deal.

  • Is it back to 3 months only?

    • Never mind I messed up I was on chat with them asking some questions and they said they could do it for me there. What I didn't realise is that because I didn't sign up through Click Frenzy I only get 3 months at half price.

  • Thanks OP

  • I just signed up with Telstra on Freedom plan and got 5Gb bonus last week, so tempted to get this deal but I really don't want to leave Telstra.

  • Signed up. Thanks.

    • Got negged for gratitude…

  • Switched from Vodafone. Thank you!

  • How is Optus network compared to Vodafone nowadays? Thanks.

    • Optus has better coverage than Vodafone from my experience as I was on optus and now I'm with vodaphone

  • am i reading this right the $60 plan is half price for 6 months also and includes 7 gigs data and unlimited calls to mobiles in the Philippines

  • The deals is very good for $20/month, I am with Virgin and paying $20/month with only 1.2G (old plan). The problem, after 6 months…. I need to pay $40/month to optus, or new Virgin $20 plan only come with 250M/month (new plan). (i make international calls occasionaly which both optus and virgin cover that, but not all others)

    • you can move to any other plan when 6months is up or whenever/whatever you wish. this would be including the $20/m Optus UNLIM/1GB data plan which sounds similar to your current and who knows might be better value in 6months, or move to another provider etc.

      • I thought that plan was normally $30/m ?

        • oh yeah my bad, getting confused with the $10 off per month deal for ex-TPG customers which takes it down to $20/m

  • After I've made the order, can I choose to activate a month later? I'm on the $50 sim plan but I plan to suspend for 1 month as I'll be going overseas soon.

    • I got my sim for the $60 pm deal today. Rang them and asked them to hold things until the 30th of Nov. Said I will call and initiate the transfer myself. Took them about 5 mins to do it. So that worked. Call and ask if you can suspend for a month. I know you can delay delivery for 20 days (source is somewhere up top) and suspend sim. Activation for 14 days. So that's 34 days in total.

To be honest because you're paying $40 upfront and only receiving credits on months 2 to 7 (assuming you're porting out after month 7):

    It's $40 + (6 x 20) = $190, which is $27.14/month over 7 months…. Still good, but not as outstanding as the 6 months at $20 = $120 would lead you to believe.

    • +1

      I agree. Very deceitful advertising.

    • +3

      Um, $40 + $120 = $160, not $190….

    • +4

      $40 + (6 x $20) = $160 which is $22.85 which is not as bad…

    • +1

      My bad sorry.

      • Why is it 40$ upfront? What am I missing, it says the discount will be applied on activation.

        • CLICK FRENZY - 50% off over 6 months

          CHECKOUT SUMMARY
          TOTAL MONTHLY $40

Min. Total Cost $40.00 for the first month.

  • Does anyone know how to connect multiple services using this offer? I'm hoping to move 3 Telechoice services over to Optus on the one account but I can't see where I can do this.

    • I just moved mine and my Fiancee's numbers over (with the intent to data pool). I first signed up for an account for myself, then chatted to one of the Reps and was told to sign up again (with the second signup under my name as well), and the number to be ported being that of my Fiancee.

The Rep then asked for both order numbers and I believe he linked both orders together. I was told that once the order had been confirmed they would give me a call to:
      1. Confirm that both sims would be on the same account, and
      2. Get the details for my Fiancee for the port (given that her number is currently under her name)

      Hopefully this helps.

      • Thanks, that's helpful!

My friend* she has the Optus 10GB plan for $70/m.
What is the best course of action for her to get these 50% off rates for 6 months?
I was thinking of giving Optus a call and threatening to terminate the service if they don't match the deal, or perhaps it would be easier to just go the proper route and order online and port her number over?

    • +1

Sign up with the deal with a new number. Port existing number away to a non optus prepaid and cancel account. Port number back onto cheap plan. May be porting fees.

      • Thanks. Why all the negs guys?

      • Got a call today from Optus saying I can't because I'm not a new customer. They're going to send me the sim card with a new number on it. So this is the method I'll have to use. I'm leaving the country on the 23rd, does anyone think I'll have enough time to port to a different service and everything?

Also, which sim other than Optus should I get to port without having to pay a cent?

  • Dont forget Optus Lumia for $129 at kmart! I am porting from Voda and will get a new phone to boot.

    Great deal.

  • What happens after the 6 months?

    • +1

What do you think happens? You pay full price or move elsewhere…

      • To clarify how much do I pay after the 6 months?…

@neil: Not according to 'the nitty gritty' at the very bottom of the page:
50% off monthly access fee: Activate a new $40 and above My Plan Plus SIM Only plan online during the promotional period to get 50% off your first 6 months access fees. Not transferable or redeemable for cash. A credit to the value of 50% of the monthly access fee will be applied to your first 6 bills and will be forfeited if you leave or change plans. This offer is not available in conjunction with any other offers or discounts unless specified.

        • @ciab:

Yes, a bit vague but the rep on the Optus chat told me that 1st month is $40 followed by $20 after.

  • -1

    thanks OP! :)

  • just signed up to the $20 1.3GB TPG deal. Should i cancel out and go for this one? think i would lose the $30 deposit to TPG…

  • the T&C on the clickfrenzy page (https://www.clickfrenzy.com.au/optus.html) say it's for new customers only.

I'm on Optus prepaid.. have any other prepaid people successfully changed to this plan?

    thanks!

  • Currently with Optus and not sure if I should sign up for this at $23 a month or take the Telstra deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/217715 which works out $33/a month over 12 months. I would be paying extra for better coverage really as the data means nothing to me with only a 3g phone and wifi but the coverage with Optus isn't the best and makes me think I might switch to Telstra.

  • AFTER 6 MONTHS WHAT HAPPENS ??

For example if you get $20 plan.

    • +9

They take you out for a nice dinner followed by a movie.

      • Nice. Thanks for your help.

As this is not a discounted price from a standard plan I expect it to continue at the same amount month to month for ever. Anyway that's my assumption hope someone here can confirm.

        • +3

          :)

Oh also, you start paying $40 instead of $20. Or $50 instead of the promotional $25.

It's a month to month thing so cancel anytime.

        • -5

          @neil:
          The post doesn't say that.
Why $40 after 6 months? Was that the cost for the dinner and movie?

You seem to know a lot about Optus.

        • +3

          @rmamila:

The dinner part was a joke.

          Why $40 after 6 months?

Because that's the deal. It's 50% off for 6 months. I only know what's written on the Optus site.

      • +1

        U had me at dinner

  • Little bit miffed - to actually get on to this, the online chat guy said I would have to fully sign up new - ie change my number (uhm, kinda DAMN annoying after having this number since analogue mobile days(with different prefix) - or "wait" my remaining 12 days of my contract and "from time to time" there are other deals.

Hmmmm - been a VERY big OPTUS supporter for, oh - SINCE THEY STARTED! - LOVE OPTUS Broadband Cable (southside BNE), and had Mobile since they commenced - but to actually get a good deal currently they feel that they need to stuff around existing customers…….hmmmmmmm kinda "not happy Jan!".

    gets off soap-box

All in all very good deals - I just hope that in 12 days I can get a great deal! - if not might have to consider changing a LOT of OPTUS gear, 3 other OPTUS family members and plans……

    • Do you only need to change number as you're on an existing contract? I'm not on a contract with them and hoping I could keep my number with them if I sign up for this deal.

    • See my note above - just get a new number. Once contract is finished they might let you port straight across. Otherwise port away then back.

    • The $30 one is until beginning of January I believe. Minus $10 you will pay $20 still not bad.

  • +1

    Thanks
Just posted 5 numbers from tpg. Got the $10 credit.
Went with the $60 plan. $30 for 6 months minus $10 for tpg for 12 months so $20 for the first months is a great deal. All linked to one account so data can be pooled.

  • -1

Did anyone accidently make multiple orders when double checking their details? hopefully they dont send me three sim's.. when did people actually pay? they said they will call?

  • Does optus pool the international minutes of two combined services as well?

  • Thanks OP - just ordered 2.. one $40 and one $50 plan for me and the partners TPG sims.

Cost per month is $23.75 per phone, with a combined 8gb data to share!

    Great result!

  • -1

After I read most of the comments here, I decide not to go with this even they are a lot cheaper.

    I've learnt my lesson once!

    • +1

      What lesson?

    • +2

      Please share, what lesson?

  • I would like to move from Vodafail but maybe I should give it a shot to see if they will match this offer. Optus has more data for a lower price and there is no problem regarding the data reaching its cap.

  • so i've got my receipt number and order email. whos actually got a call and completed things? how long did it take.. im gonna be super annoyed if i miss out.

    • I thought you just need to place the order before the deal expires at 7 pm - then the process will take its time.

  • I have been on vodaphone prepaid since I arrive in Aus. If I move to this - is there an option to check how much credit you have used day to day, so that we know if we will go over the limit or not. Thanks.

nvm - I think I found the answer.
    http://www.optus.com.au/shop/support/answer/how-to-check-you…

  • is it back to 3 months? i called up and they refused to move me onto this as i was an existing customer and said it was for 3 months as well

  • When I phoned Optus they said that I didn't get the 50% off deal because I went through the optus website instead of the clickfrenzy website even though my receipt said I got it so I had to reorder it. I'd probably give them a call if you're worried about it.

    • I'm sure Floptus will honour it, because in all the confirmation emails it clearly says CLICKFRENZY 50% off 6mths iirc.

  • Just signed up for the $20 deal minus $10 for broadband = $10 p/m!
    Wooooooooooooooooooooh

  • Got this deal done a few hours ago, I'm just confused if the 1st month is $40 or if it starts off with the discounted $20, but i'm happy either way :D
ALso I hope i'll be able to delay activation as my other sim only cycle jsut started a few days ago :/

    • First month $40, then $20 for 6 months, then back to $40.

      • Thanks mate

  • Back to 3 months on the $40 and $50 plan..

  • So has anyone actually received a call from floptus?

    • Not yet. Ordered two early afternoon yesterday.

Have received two follow up emails with a tracking numbers to see where my orders are at though.

      Date/Time Status
19/11 - 09:xx Your order has been sent to our warehouse for packaging
18/11 - 19:xx Your order has been processed. Next stop, our warehouse!
      18/11 - 17:xx We've received your order. We'll begin processing it ASAP

    • I called them myself last night and they processed it. But I actually originally called because I wanted to delay my activation.

    • haven't received anything yet

  • received sim today, called immediately to prevent auto activation (letter with sim says it will auto activate in 2 days)…this was "turned off" - and she said that will not activate now until I do it myself online. Want to finish my current billing cycle with TPG. Asked if there was a time limit on how long until I must activate- she said no..nothing in conditions…I am activating mid December at end of tpg billing cycle. She said bills don't start until activation…keep you posted if a bill arrives!..the sim card has a two year expiry date on it….

    • I was told by them that I can delay by 30/31 days

  • Good one Optus, port my number across before I even have the SIM.

    • Haha, how did you know they've ported you over?

      • My phone was on "SOS Only".
Turns out it actually was delivered though and my housemate had put it on the bench!

        Service is awesome :)

  • They've been making me go thru hoops, got a call this afternoon asking me confirm my details and to immediately send them copies of my drivers license which I did and then another call saying credit check did not work with my drivers license so I need to send my passport. Again sent that and now no word. After being told if I don't send it asap the order will be cancelled, now I don't even know what they are doing! So frustrating.

    • Yeah they called and left a message they want additional info from me also despite me giving drivers licence and the standard info from me when signed up.

i want to cancel this bullshit now not worth it to save an extra $5 per month when the first month seems to be $40

      going to call tomorrow.

  • My experience yesterday on the Optus Website redirect was an interesting one. I could not operate many of the drop-down tabs (no of months at address and employment, etc). I gave up but didn't close the page. Today, 24 hours later I noticed the page still open on a tab in my browser. I completed the transaction and hit "Place Order". Thinking I had no chance and that it would 'time out' … I was surprised to get an order confirmation back. I guess they can still reject my application as it is a credit application in effect. Lets see what comes!

  • I've received notification via text that my two orders have been delivered at home! No phone call or nothing from Optus as yet.

  • Sim turned up today via StarTrack.

  • +1

Feedback from Optus insider: some great new deals being drafted at the moment for pre-Xmas release. No other details but maybe a 24month deal to lock in the $20/month rate at discount for this deal might be on the table. Let's hope so!!

  • anyone having issues porting from Yatango - 3 days now optus have placed 3 requests and still nothing!!

    • Wonder if it has anything to do with being liquidated and bought out by another company? Thread

      • i ported over before it was finalized to yomamjo or what it is these days :"\

  • +2

Our first bill is showing in our account as $20 (Have to wait 24 hours for the pdf version). Happy days and thanks OP

  • Anyone already got a invoice to be paid 15th december? - its not even 30 days at least and they already want a payment? is this normal or should i expect payment atleast 30+ days?

  • Anyone recently pay a bill and could not find the billing period within the bill?

  • +1

I spoke with Optus yesterday about the bill.

    1. The first bill is a 'prepayment' on the account, so that your final bill is covered by this 1st charge. As such, it isnt an 'access' bill - so does not have a time period attached to it.

    2. The $10 TPG credit will show up on the 1st 'access' bill - so in other words, your 2nd bill you receive from Optus to pay.

    3. To data-share, you need to combine your accounts onto one bill. very easily done.

They also confirmed for me that the prepayment is used on the last bill, so wont be a shitfight to get your money back like with TPG.

Very happy with this deal - 4G is blisteringly quick and with 8G data (5gb plan + 3gb plan).
