Further Info/Tips

There are two "tricks" that can be extremely beneficial as there is a common trend experienced by 7-Eleven App users: 1) If you receive an error processing your credit/debit card, you can purchase a 7-Eleven Gift Card in-store and apply the credits instantly onto the App. 2) You do not need to use the funds on your App to pay for the fuel, you can lock-in the price and pay via Cash or Card at the checkout saving the hassle of constantly topping up, gift cards, etc.

    The app is kinda working now but I can't sign in for love or money, either using Freighter's APK or the stock latest one (on another phone). Got $40 left on the app that I'm desperate to pay down before I forget about it…

    • Same can't seem to be able to login

  • +5

    Wow down for maintenance again…

  • Finally able to login! On another note, it’s not even end of day yet but looks like the free choc chip banana bread offer has been replaced with a $1 banana bread lol classic

  • Just locked in 91 at Orange NSW for 89.6c and went to the local servo in VIC and my voucher was rejected. Clerk saying there was an error with my discount code, he scanned 3 times. He then started asking where I got the lock and that it only works if it's locked and bought in the same state. Anyone got any ideas?

    • +7

      That sounds entirely made up by the clerk as that defeats the purpose of 7-11 fuel lock program. Did you get the receipt to claim back form the 7-11 head office?

      • +1

        I successfully used an interstate lock yesterday so unless something has changed in the last 24 hours, I agree with griffy. You should definitely put in a claim.
        Having said that, I locked mine in a few days before I used it, so it is entirely plausible that I have had enough time to come back from interstate an use it locally. But if you lock in a price from interstate and use it 10 minutes later, it is a bit obvious that you are using a location spoofer, and some attendants will pick up on that.

        • even in the today's climate of hardborders ? Eg. locked NSW but pumped in WA/

          • @abcdefcuk: I locked in NSW and used in Victoria (3 days later), worked fine. No way for them to prove I was not in NSW 3 days ago.

        • Yeah I should've said in the first comment that I locked last night and tried to use at this arvo. So I should wait a bit longer then?

        • +4

          Just locked-in in Qld and used in ACT 5 mins later, no problems encountered at all.

      • +6

        Yeah, I did I've emailed them. Thanks.

        EDIT: I received an email back saying "We have confirmed that you should have received a discount of $6.03 for your fuel purchase. I have topped up your account with $7.00 to cover the discount, plus a little extra"
        Pretty good customer service if you ask me

        • -1

          I usually name some obscure suburb past the CBD if they ask - not like they're gonna check. Which store?

        • -1

          great outcome! thanks for reporting back.

    • +1

      I had problems too last week. Got 2 account and would not accept either voucher and she showed me the till and it said voucher had been already used dispite never having used them. O well let's see if I can claim it.

      Just found easy way to send claim. Setting / missed discount and you take photo of your receipt and it produces email for you. App did not attach photo for some reason so make sure its attached or attache it.

  • Was wondering if anyone can offer a solution to 7-eleven app connectivity through Nox. It was working fine till about a couple of weeks ago, the app has no connectivity through Nox. Playstore doesnt connect either but the browser works fine (Shows certificate errors but allows me to proceed)

    • +4

      Got it work. Enabled bridge connections in Nox settings. Hope it helps anyone facing the same issue

    • Need to jailbreak. You can jailbreak if you’re on iOS 13.5.

  • Had issues with trying to lock on another account with the mod apk so I decided to go back and use the Freyta alternative. While there is detailed installation instructions for Android I was wondering what is required just to perform an update if you have it already installed? It wouldn't work for me right away and I hadn't used it for a while so I ended up doing a full install.

  • +16

    Just received the below email - I wonder if this is the end of the remote price locking?! I hope not…

    Big things are happening with the 7‑Eleven Fuel App. On 17 June it will be upgraded to our new My 7‑Eleven App. With an improved design, it makes it easier than ever to lock in our best local fuel price and redeem exclusive offers with just one scan through our new My Card.

    The Fuel App will be offline from 14 June at 11:59pm until 17 June. During this time you will not be able to redeem any app-exclusive deals or fuel price locks. However if you have any active Fuel Price Locks, these will appear when My 7‑Eleven comes online.

    • Got the same……

      I too am wondering the same……

    • +2

      Will have to wait until the new app gets modded. If it's even possible. Hopefully it's not the end :(

    • +2

      Worst case scenario Android users can still install root module that fake the GPS. But I hope it wouldn't come down to that.

      • They've blocked it currently already without the modified APK (root detection and Mock location detection)
        I was thinking we could always use bluestacks/NOX for the time being, but then again, they could make it only lock for that particular device only.
        and then I thought further, they'd probably lose more business by changing this over because I know a lot of people that would use other brands if it was the same price as 7/11. It'll be interesting!

        • Are you sure? In the previous version of 7-eleven app, XPrivacyLua worked for me. Magisk Hide can pretty much blocks an app from detecting root. That was before I knew there was a modded app that works with mock location.

          • @juns: I'm not 100% sure, but I remember it got to a stage where I got Magisk hide working and I couldn't get it to stop detecting Mock Location. I wasn't aware XPrivacyLua worked for mock detection? They might also add safetynet detection which would make it very hard without a modded APK

            • @cheapass88: Ok, so what you've been using is the developer tool's mock location. XPrivacyLua is a root module that has capabilities to fake permission access (file, camera, phone, sms, contact etc) and sensors (GPS) on system level. That is the most extreme level you can do if all else fails and I don't think 7-eleven would be able to detect such thing.

              • @juns: Oh right, I do have the app, however, I've never tried it with this as I assumed ticking "get location" would also not allow the app to detect the fake location as well.

              • @juns: I tried xprivacylua without luck as i thought.

        • +1

          If u are using PC run fuel lock tool on docker. Easy to setup, no need of mock location, 7 eleven app

          • @georgev: We're not talking about currently but for the new 7 11 app.

          • @georgev: Yeah that's a better alternative, but there's no telling whether the API is going to change with the new app.

            • +2

              @juns: The email I received today has this last paragraph:

              Once maintenance mode has finished you will be asked to upgrade the Fuel App to My 7‑Eleven using the same username and password as the Fuel App. If your device is currently running Android Operating system 8 and below or IOS 11 and below you will be asked to install the most recent version.

              I believe that they still need to allow the old app to be working for sometime at least so that those devices using Android 8 or below and iOS 11 or below will still be able to use the app

              This may means that the existing API will still somehow work, but it needs to modify the "Android Version" to Android 8

  • Anyone remember when the 'My Card" credit has to be redeemed by?

    • +6

      14th June is the last day to redeem the credit. After that, there will be some way to transfer the credit to a physical gift card.

  • +8

    Notification in the app that it is changing from '7-Eleven' to a new fuel app and will be in 'maintenance mode' between 15th and 17th June (so fill up before then)

    • +5

      Maybe the last chance to fly the helicopter, hopefully I can still fly!

    • +3

      Email also just received:

      From 11:59pm 14 June 2020 the 7‑Eleven Fuel App will be put into maintenance mode until 17 June 2020 whilst the App is upgraded to My 7‑Eleven. During this maintenance period you will not be able to use the App until it is back online as My 7‑Eleven.

      Any Fuel Price Locks not redeemed by 11:59pm 14 June 2020 when the Fuel App is put into maintenance will be available once My 7‑Eleven comes online. All Offers in the Fuel App will expire 11:59pm 14 June 2020.

      Once maintenance mode has finished you will be asked to upgrade the Fuel App to My 7‑Eleven using the same username and password as the Fuel App. If your device is currently running Android Operating system 8 and below or IOS 11 and below you will be asked to install the most recent version.

      We thank you for your patience during the upgrade.

  • +1

    I use NOX and it is only android 7 , so I will not be able to use it with the new app :(

    • If my understanding is right, this is even better because they will keep the old app running to accommodate Android 8 or below
      Meaning that the current mod apk (latest version) will still able to run for sometime

  • +1

    They still haven't specified exactly how we can transfer our credits to a gift card right? I still have some credits in my account…

    • +3

      Take a screenshot of your gift card balance, just incase things go wrong. I took a screen shot of my balance.

      • +1

        Good call

    • +10

      I have 2 accounts both with credit - They mentioned transfer in the last email - 'If you still have funds remaining on your My 7‑Eleven Card after 14 June 2020, you won’t lose them. We will arrange with you to transfer those funds to a 7‑Eleven physical Gift Card which you will then have until 14 June 2023 to spend in store. You will receive an email soon detailing how to transfer your remaining funds to a 7‑Eleven physical Gift Card.' - I didn't receive any email yet.

      I just logged into my profile to ensure they have my current address in case they decide to do a mailout. One of my accounts had no address associated! Might be a wise move to update that?

      • +1

        Excellent suggestion. Thank you. I just updated my address.

      • Agreed. Excellent suggestion.

  • -8

    I had under $10 on 2 accounts so just decided to do a petrol top up rather than going through the hassle. $0.01 and $0.02 left on both accounts now!

    • -3

      I find it strange as well that the giftcard cannot be used to the last cent.
      Emptied one of my account and pay the remainder by card, and find out there's still 2c balance

  • +1

    Diesel 99.7c Hassall Grove, NSW 2761 - Get to the choppa quick before they update the app!! ;)

  • -4

    Looks like login is down for the app. Last day to use funds on the card and can't! If still logged in don't log out!

  • +1

    Filled up yesterday and used the last of my credit, hoping this update does not mean the end but it’s been so great to have this all this time. Huge thanks

  • Are you able to use the app credit to but a gift card instore?
    Save them mucking about and probably stuffing up anyway.

    • +2

      I tried but was told that it wasn't possible.

      • Thanks, was hoping they would have come to a compromise considering.

  • +15

    Agreed! hopefully this isnt the end but a huge thank you to the people that made it possible for us battlers to save a couple bucks!

    • +1

      Agree. I filled up both cars and three jerry cans for the lawn mower and line trimmer. Was great while it lasted.

    • +1

      more than couple bucks I have saved

    • +16

      We've saved hundreds over the years. Very thankful.

      The best bargain by far for me was a few weeks ago when I was able to fill up all of our cars from empty for $0.83/L… For 98.

    • +54

      You're welcome.

      We'll see what happens in the future.

      • +6

        Fingers crossed the ride will continue, its been fun

      • +6

        Thank you Freighter and Master. Appreciate the hard work. :)

      • Thanks again for your great work!!

        Just from a technical perspective
        When they release a new app
        Is it very hard to decode the app and mod it?

        • +1

          Depends what sort of protections they put into the app really. We will have to wait and see. Some apps are far easier to modify than others.

        • +26

          Is it very hard to decode the app and mod it?

          In general and for different apps, for me it depends how much it is obfuscated and what I am trying to achieve with a certain app. For the 1.5.2 version of the 7-Eleven app (the first one released on here) the hardest part that I didn't know was that I needed my own Google Maps API key. After modding that one to enable the fake GPS apps and being able to read how the code works (they forgot to obfuscate it) it really helped in later versions to see what the code was doing.
          For instance, just before this new app got announced I was pretty much on the verge of releasing my own settings page in the app, similar to the Account Details part where you can click on it and it shows you your username/email/d.o.b etc etc. But here's a snippet of the difference between the version 1.5.2 and version 1.10.0 code that both do the same thing:

          Version 1.5.2

          private void getAccountDetails() {
          this.accountDetailsList.setVisibility(8);
          this.accountDetailsErrorView.setVisibility(8);
          this.loadingSpinner.setVisibility(0);
          VolleyApiFactory.getInstance().accountTsApi().getAccountDetails(new VolleyResponseActionAdapter(new BaseVolleyAction<AccountDetailsResponse>() {}
          more code goes here blahblah
          }

          Version 1.10.0
          private void D() {
          this.K.setVisibility(8);
          this.M.setVisibility(8);
          this.L.setVisibility(0);
          d.i().a().a(new e(new a())); # This part here actually calls another function but is the same code that is the VolleyApiFactory from 1.5.2 on the 4th line from above
          }

          As you can see, the code is quite a bit different to read, but if you can compare the 2 then you can see what is actually happening. In saying all of that, I've looked at the 7-Eleven source code enough to know in general what they are trying to do (between versions nothing really changes). The hardest part is identifying what the unnamed variables are (i.e. this.A, this.B, this.C, this.D etc).

          But in all honesty, modifying an app isn't that difficult if all you are doing is removing a simple check for mock locations or root detection, it just takes a bit of time to find where everything is. I've uploaded tutorials on here in the past you can read and do it for yourself as well.

          edit: I realise, this probably isn't exactly what you were asking but if you want a better/more of an explanation let me know

          • +1

            @Freighter: I learned reverse engineering apk for a couple of days and then I gave up…

            Thank you Freighter.

          • +3

            @Freighter: Thanks Freighter. You keep improving the app for us all to fly in our helicopter easier. Best version is when we do it all within the app :)

            Hope this trend will continue and your helpfulness awesome!

          • @Freighter: A excellent explanation!

          • +1

            @Freighter: I feel like you're Lenny and I'm Carl talking about the Stonecutters (except I have no idea what you're talking about, and 7/11 spies are Homer)

            In other words, it's cool to see how you achieve this, but does it slightly play your hand if the devs were to read this?

            If not, We Doooo, We Dooooooo

  • +46

    Thanks a lot Freighter and Master.You guys have saved me heaps over the years. If this is the end it's been a great run. Very thankful.

  • +3

    another thanks to Freighter and Master it has been awesome

  • Thanks, guys., appreciate the great work. Saved heaps. Hope it is not you guys that forced 7-Eleven to revamp their App :-)

  • +3

    Not sure why everyone is foreshadowing the end of an era. From the email:

    With an improved design, it makes it easier than ever to lock in our best local fuel price and redeem exclusive offers with just one scan through our new My Card.

    Emphasis mine, the fuel lock functionality will still be there. We can still fake our location. Modding an app might be harder for the Android folk but someone smart will find a way.

    • Just being 2020 and all I guess they are geared for the worst now… :)

    • Worst case is we all fly the real helicopter LOL
      My 2cents is as long as the api still works
      It should be a way to get it working, finger cross

    • -1

      Them "making it easier than ever to lock in" is more than likely code for fundamentally changing the way it's done, especially considering the maintenance period is so long. We will have to wait and see re: GPS.

      • It’s hard to guess, will see
        The 3 days might be making sure the new app works fine on production, as they need to ensure old app data still flow through to new app

    • They could change it so that it only allows for locks to be used local to where they were actually locked, not saying they will but just one quick example of a change they could make that could theoretically make it hard to use it how we have traditionally. Only time will tell though, hopefully, we still get to use the app how we have been, it's probably better for them to make a little bit of money out of us as opposed to none if we take our business elsewhere, not sure if they will see it that way though.

      • -1

        That defeats the whole point of having the locks at all if it only works for your local 7 eleven

        • -1

          For us, mostly yes, but not for how it was originally intended i.e. people playing their local (not the one store but the several closest) price cycles.

          edit I didn't neg

  • For those that still have existing balance
    The 7-11 website has the link to claim for physical gift card

    https://wwws-au1.givex.com/cws4.0/m7eleven/

    I have tried but seems the login failed due to the upgrade to new app, should be working again after new app release on the 17 June 2020

    • +9

      Not saying you're a scammer, but people should be cautious when clicking on links that require you to login with an account that has monetary values.

      I would wait for the official email from 7-eleven

      • +11

        This link is from the 7-11 homepage
        https://www.7eleven.com.au/

        (Click on the Full Site at the bottom if using mobile)

        • +1

          Thanks for the sauce!

      • Good point! I think 7/11 should have used a URL/subdomain on their own website as it looks pretty damn dodgy.

    • -1

      wwws-au1.givex.com

      This link is fkning Shaddy as hell. I wouldn't trust this link at all.

  • -6

    I just noticed the new app is on google play store

  • +2

    Just got my helicopter serviced in the down time !
    Ready to fly from tomorrow - hopefully :)

  • App updated via App Store
    But still says - our new app will be here soon
    Interface looks updated. New logo and all ..
