Further Info/Tips

There are two "tricks" that can be extremely beneficial as there is a common trend experienced by 7-Eleven App users: 1) If you receive an error processing your credit/debit card, you can purchase a 7-Eleven Gift Card in-store and apply the credits instantly onto the App. 2) You do not need to use the funds on your App to pay for the fuel, you can lock-in the price and pay via Cash or Card at the checkout saving the hassle of constantly topping up, gift cards, etc.

@Sola: Jerry cans? Time to invest in some 44's!!

            • +1

@danyool: Haha, jokes aside I actually am looking for 1 or 2 more jerry cans. I filled them all up at $1.26 before the recent spike to $1.60 and just used my last 20L days before the prices dropped. Timed perfectly but another 20 or 40L would be handy to ride out the next spike. Every time I save money on fuel the saving goes into Christmas account - we're having a good Christmas this year :)

  • It's ok now. Could be the app or their server was not working last night (midnight). Anyway, thanks.

    • Still not working for me ☹️

  • +1

Oil glut is here. Trump has pressured Saudis not to cut production. AUD been steady, looks like we've got some bargains. Time to stockpile.

    • Wouldn't it be amazing if it dropped to $1/L for the holidays?

      • +3

        I’m averaging less then 50cents a litre

        1.28 at Coles
        -10 cents flybuys
        -4 cents shop a docket
        -6 cents ozbargain voucher

Paid using Coles Myer gift cards purchased at 40% off with Amex vogue offer

Less 38.5% tax ( salary sacrifice private vehicle)

        • +1

          username checks out

        • You get tax free fuel? Jealous.

And what is this flybuys offer people keep talking about. I've been using it for years and its not on my offer list.

          • @Levathian: 10c flybuys offer is emailed out to targeted people. My wife occasionally gets one, I never have.

          • +1

@Levathian: Tax free only on the term of the lease so not forever

10 cents is on flybuys account that’s targeted. I use it at the bottom of the cycle as 7/11 mock locations is cheaper at top of cycle

        • buying gift card with vogue offer is clever. Thanks for the tip! Just need to wait another 10 month now!

        • Who pays fbt on your vehicle? Is that something withheld from your trp? Or employer pays but could otherwise be added on top of your trp?

      • +1

Hmmm wishful thinking. There's so many factors in the price.

        • We actually got $1/litre E10 fuel not too long ago. The only time I'd opt for E10.

      • A metro is Campbelltown Sydney was $1.119 last night. We will definitely see some independants under $1.10 but $1/L could be another story. The best I could do so far is $1.22

  • +1

I wish I knew exactly when fuel prices were going to rise again. This has been the longest continual drop in prices in a while and I want to time it perfectly.

    • Just keeping filling up and locking in while it is low, that is all you can do. Prices are near the bottom of the cycle so not worth risking holding out for 1-2 cents, then seeing prices jump to 160.

    • Several Caltex/Woolworths servos jacked up price today since Coles Express failed to take the lead 2 weeks ago.

  • +4

    95 126.9 Werribee VIC

    • 2c/L cheaper than the previous anomalous price tab Werribee earlier this week.

    • Seems to have ended

      • That's excellent price.

  • +3

91 $120.4 at north Ryde and albany creek!!

  • +1

App not picking up 129.9 in Malvern East for 95. And why is Diesel still so expensive :(

    • It's 128.9 now on the store finder. I haven't tried to lock it.

      • +1

Mine keeps going to Tooronga Valley at 1369

        • Malvern East showing 139.9 for 95 now ?

    • +1

Yep. Coming up on the lock screen now as well but I'm holding out for discounted U98.

  • +1

A number of Woolworths are between 127.9-132.7 for U95 in and around Melbourne, so with 5% wish gift cards, they're cheaper than the 131-ish lock in prices at effectively 121.5-126.1.

    • Don't forget 4c/L off from a supermarket shop as well. Maybe another 4c/L off for $5+ in-store spend.

      • +2

What I posted was 4c discounted. I should have clarified.

  • -8

Unable to login into 7eleven app using nox v6.0.8.0
I get error code Golf, anyone?

    • +2

Nope absolutely no one. I know because I searched the word 'golf' in the comments, trust me.

      • -4

not sure why all the neg?

        • +2

Because you should make the effort to search the post before asking for help. This has already been covered in detail several times. We are not going to repeat every time someone asks….

          • +5

@billy_bob: Thank you. Had to upgrade the android emulator to 7.1.2 to fix the ligjn issue. All good now

  • +27

    98 @ 119.9 Ashwood VIC

    • +1

Yeah just as i filled up wow everytime
Edit In Canberra its still 173 so 137 wasn't bad but still

    • +1

Thanks! New record for 2018?! :D

    • Thanks for the heads up!

    • -3

Probability of being banned by locking that in for interstaters?

      • +1

Why do people keep asking this question? It doesn't happen. Been locking interstate for a couple years now and its fine. 7/11 is getting money so they can't complain, otherwise people would buy fuel elsewhere.

        • -2

Because it has happened before and I rely on the 7/11 app for savings when fuel prices are high

          • +5

@Levathian: Most of the bans (if not all) were for locking in U91 for 0.1c/L.

          • +1

@Levathian: Unless it is an extreme case like Sween64's example, I have not seen any comment about being banned for regular fuel specials.

      • Highly unlikely

      • Do split screen on your phone so that only the code to scan shows on half of the screen. Attendant doesn't need to see the price.
Did this today, had no problems and locked U98 33L for $1.199 again to use in 7 days.

        • They can see the price and your savings on their screen though

  • -1

When I try and lock for a 3 account on nox I get a bug where it keeps looping me back to homescreen "find best local". I tried changing IMEI, reloading, moving a little, any ideas on bug fix?

    • +2

      seriously? 3 accounts?

      • -2

        Do you have more?

      • +3

I lock in for my family when I see good deals.

        • Same, 3 accounts means I can lock Diesel, U91, and P98 all at the same time (using Nox + phone).

    • +1

2 locks per device per 24 hour period

      • +3

        Android ID*

    • Make a new emulator window with nox multi instance. It should have a different Android ID so you can lock on more accounts with it

      • ah yeah that's what I did last time, I totally forgot. I thought IMEI change would do the trick.

  • +3

ashwood (U98 @119.9) just happens to be my closest 7/11 - their U91 pumps are out of action so they're offering U98 at normal U91 price. lock her in, baby…. 7/11 tanker will arrive 7am tomorrow apparently.

    • +1

      gone already…:( sad

  • +1

FML went to lock in 98 @ $1.19 and it just changed to $137.5 (should've been quicker).

Does anyone know if there's a way to see how much money you've saved on fuel since using 7/11 Fuel App ?

    • Nope but that's a good idea. I saved $16 just today.

    • I recall seeing an email which they send you once in a while telling you how much money you saved over the last year. If anything to remind you how much you love their app

  • +13

for those that missed the u98 under 120. U95 just dropped…119.9 @ Tooronga Valley, Hawthorn East, VIC

    • goneeeeee

      • There's gotta be a pattern of price drops during 11am-3pm. Last couple have been during those times.

  • In a minor miracle, it was best value for me to fill up at coles Express. U91 was 119.9, less 10c targeted discount from flybuys and a 4c discount from a shop docket, also bought 2 packs of dunny paper for $20 to get a further 10c off.

    • +2

Haha, yep me too. First time I have been to Coles Express in about 3 years! Came to 106 per litre, which is pretty good. The targeted 10c off can be used multiple times which is also unusual.

    • I filled up at Caltex for $1.19, minus 4c off, minus 9.1% as I bought a few gift cards through a prezzee deal (buy $50 get $5 free)

  • U98 at BP Braddon ACT 2601 is 101.1 p/l(last check 5hrs ago), it's madness.
    edit: outdated or error.

  • -3

No fuel prices available error in blue stacks anyone?

  • +4

U95 back down to 119.9 @ Pascoe Vale VIC

    • Missed the one at Tooronga Valley and now I just missed this one! Unbelievable how quickly it goes back up

      • yeah,,how do they do that??it should atleast reflect the price for 2hours unless theyre just catching us up.

      • +2

U95 and 98 (highest premium available at that site) are only lowered to the u91 price at that store when they have run out of u91 as a form of compensation, I'd imagine they'd be calling in tankers almost immediately which would explain why these prices generally don't last longer than half a day.

        • yeah that's typically the case but have a look at the time stamp. in a matter of half an hour they have already called in a tanker in that short amount of time?

          • @angelkulit025: Maybe it happened to already be on the way…

            • @sween64: probably =)

              • +5

@angelkulit025: I was physically there at Ashwood servo when the tanker arrive. Managed to fill my car up and lock in price at the same time. U98 @ 119.9!!!

        • -1

Sometimes it could be due to price error and they will update the price immediately when they find it out.

  • Interesting - apart from WA, the rest of the country has pretty much the same lowest price.

    • +4

Bad news as all states will probably rise at the same time.

  • +6

Woolies Caltex Bonnyrigg is cheapest atm @ 117.5 U91 plus 4c OFF and using discounted WISH eGC.

    Either OK?

    • +2

pretty sure they were both hacked the same way - which is find the code which checks whether mock locations is turned on and always return false.

      • +1

Pretty much. I released one, then master released one. I doubt there is any differences between the 2..

        • Hey Freighter, what tools do you use to hack the app like that, or is it trade secret? Still working great for me, although sometimes it still detects my real location and I have to go into Fake GPS settings and change from "No Root Mode" to "New No Root Mode" and try going back and forth a few times until it finally works.

          • +1

@billy_bob: Not a secret at all. I was going to make a write up about it, but never got around to doing it. I only made my first little tutorial on the WikiCamps App (that's a really good practicing app since it's so easy to crack. But pay the $5 or whatever it is to support them if you like camping, it's really good!) and I have no idea if it's any use.

I think tomorrow I'll reply fully how to do it, but all you need is 3 things. I use APK Easy Tool to disassemble the APK into SMALI code (which is easy enough to muck around with) and then compile it again. Then I use JADX to browse through the java readable source code. If you use 1.5.2 APK it's unobfuscated so it makes a lot more sense to read (i.e. it will say something like "SecurityUtil.mocklocation = false" whereas obfuscated would read "a.z = false") and you need a free Google Cloud Maps API. And a bit of trial and error!

Also fun fact, if you modify the 1.5.2 APK (which is easier) to disable root/mock location checking all you need to do is change in the program where it says the app version "1.5.2" and "960" or whatever it is to the current one and you can use that APK.

I hope that made a little sense.

        • Thanks for the info guys
and thank YOU Freighter for doing the apk

          • +3

@King Tightarse: No worries mate. I was keeping it to myself for a while and then I got saved enough money I thought I should give something back for once.

  • Any ideas about the 'Golf' error in the app?
I have got everything set up and now for some reason It won't log me in - keep getting error 'Golf'
Have tried all the regular fixes - removed sim, cleared cache etc.
    Not happening!

    • +1

If your account is on both devices this 'golf' error might occur. Try logging out of one of them. And only log into the one that you want to lock in the petrol. Once thats completed log out. And log back into the device that you want to use for the discount. Ie you can't log into two advices at once. As they fixed this error.

  • +2

Brisbane's average has risen steadily the last three days. Some stores are rising to 149.9 for U91. I think 116.9 is the lowest we will see for awhile.

  • Blatant price jacking by servos/mother companies happening again with some jacking it up to 150 again..

There needs to be a watchdog on petrol srsly.

Wholesale petrol prices have remained almost the same, oil prices worldwide have remained stable at yearly lows and the AUD/USD exchange rate has been the same too.

Someone explain why some servos are jacking the prices with more following..
