You can never have too many kitchen timers I say…

    • I noticed the other day siri cant keep more than one timer at a time.

Women can't really multitask. They only think they can…

        • +1

That's just what you think though.

        • @JediJan:

No, I've personally tested the hypothesis…

        • @JediJan:

          In your dreams.

"a Swedish study found that men outperformed women at handling multiple tasks simultaneously, with the performance gap being correlated to the female menstrual cycle."

        • @jv:
Your link has also provided the following:
…"[On] average, men are more likely better at learning and performing a single task at hand, like cycling or navigating directions, whereas women have superior memory and social cognition skills, making them more equipped for multitasking and creating solutions that work for a group."
          😁

        • @JediJan:
Must aways. I am a wee bit busy washing dishes, watching an interesting prerecorded program on "The Celts," ironing, making preparations for the morning, settling a few accounts, and for some reason chatting about multitasking in OzBargain.
          Night nights. 🤔

        • @JediJan:

Your link has also provided the following:

Did you read the final sentence in the section you quoted ?

"Importantly, this study contains no such evidence of any superiority in multitasking in women."

        • @JediJan:

But can you post comments and carry on conversations in over 10 OzBargain deals concurrently ?

        • @jv:
No, but only because I wouldn't find it fun for me.

        • @JediJan:

because I wouldn't find it fun for me.

No problem… Continue on with your ironing and washing dishes then…

        • @jv:
Your link actually did not show any evidence to the contrary either. But, yes I have a weakness for getting a few hours sleep before an early start. "The Celts" is a rather good series too. 🖖

  • This things cheap like peanuts

Lots of competition, should be Lil more cheaper :)

  • Lucky you.. I searched eBay links while posting but couldn't find before..

  • Good one. I've been buying them for $50 on gumtree.

      How many do you have?

      • or How many he wants?

      • +2

Three but I need I think a need another one or two for Google to completely own me.

  • +1

I ordered one from Shopmonk 14 days ago, still haven't arrived yet :(

    • Google them…

    • -3

yeah they are a bunch of scammers - take your money then sit on it until you complain to PayPal

    • Both of mine arrived last week. Was delivered by DHL. Came from Singapore via NSW.

      • When did you order it?

      • Good news. I even haven't received the tracker id yet, just emailed them to see what's going on.

    • Mine arrived last friday DHL from overseas

    • Update: received response from Shopmonk saying it haven't been sent out, so there is no tracker ID for me: "Please note that our delivery timeline is between 14 to 21 days from the date of placing the order."

  • Great price! Beats last weeks deal of $53 that I jumped on. But not the intro deal of 2 for $78?

    • +1

Not as good as those end of year deals Google offered, it was even better at Harvey Norman 2 for $74. Assuming you wanted 2 :) I think $43.20 was the best single unit price through the 20% off TGG eBay deal last December.

      • +1

$20 delivered here just need to remember to cancel subscription :)

    • +1

It was 2 for $69 at one stage, however that sold out within 2 hours of the deal being posted.

  • +2

Is it worth getting the google home instead of the google home mini?

    • +4

Sound wise the Home easily fills a room while the Mini struggles and is much tinnier. If you're going to use it to play music mostly then yes it's worth the extra cost.

      • I've got two of the Minis and while they aren't amazing quality they're more than satisfactory at filling my bedroom and bathroom with decent quality sound. I keep them at roughly 40-50% volume pretty much all the time and have no complaints.

If I wanted to really listen to music, I'd switch to my Sennheiser 6XX cans, but those aren't very practical in a bath or shower…

    • +1

You can now connect the Mini to any Bluetooth speaker for better sound. For this reason I bought Minis instead of the more expensive Home.

      • Yes but it can't turn the other device on right? There is something nice about just walking into the kitchen and saying 'Hey Google, play [something]'. I don't think I would use it as much if I had to turn another device on manually.

  • +1

Wow Hamza23 these seem to just keep getting cheaper and cheaper… :) Thanks! I'm going the Chalk Mini!

  • Wondering if we should hold out for the next gen now that this is so old.

    • If the Homes are anything like the first-gen Chromecast they should age fairly gracefully.

      • +4

still rocking the og chromecast here!

        • Mine too. I bought original when it was released and It is still steady.

  • The other ebay listing for the Google Home has been jacked up in price making this the cheaper of the two now.

    • Google Home has been jacked up in price

The sale ended, it was there for that price throughout the 10% sitewide event with a timer/countdown even stating when the sale price was going to finish. Wouldn't necessarily call this a 'price jack' that we normally see before a sale starts

      • Oh?
First time I ever saw the listing was when I posted, so never saw the countdown. Just looked like they raised the price. My mistake.
