Title needs updating as Kogan upped the data by 1gb for some of the plans.

    • Whoops, thanks for pointing that out :)

  • Can anyone confirm that this can be used to top up a plan already with Kogan? My dad has the Large plan but I think Medium is enough for him. Can this be added now?

    • +1

Nope. From another thread, it resets the plan when you apply it. Though I'm not sure how long the code/voucher stays valid for.

      • +1

Description now says "Voucher expires at 11:59pm AEST on 31/07/2018".

      • I can confirm that. Yes, if you recharge before your current 12mth plan has finished, you will lose the remainder of that plan (time & data allowance).

Last year I recharged 1mth early thinking it would top up the duration, but it ended up resetting it. Luckily Kogan CS were nice enough to refund 1mth equiv. after a quick email & live chat.

    • The other deal was edited after I posted it, so I just changed it back.

      • Gotcha, sorry bud. :)

  • Do they email your voucher code?

    • Yes they email the voucher and then send a SIM card to your nominated address. I believe the voucher is sent quickly but the shipping time is longer due to the SIM card.

      • I bought from Kogan eBay last week, got the voucher 90 minutes after purchase and SIM was sent a day later.

        • Confirm that - ordered 20/6, voucher number sent on 21/6 and SIM posted same day. Delivered in Perth suburbs today.

  • I am assuming this is for new customers? I am thinking of porting my number over.

    • +1

Nope, existing and new customers :)

  • Does the un-use data roll over each month? And what network the Kogan use? Thanks.

    • +1

      Kogan uses Vodafone 4G network.

    • No. Vodafone. You are welcome.

      • Thanks, no deal to me. I had bad experience with Vodafone network when I was with TPG

        • +12

Vodafone has really picked up their game in the last couple of years. I think it is because they realised they were always known to be very unreliable. I've been with Kogan for the last 8 months and everything has been fine for me.

        • +4

@fattypig: Agreed. Used Vodafail in 2012 and said "never again", but then trialed Kogan last year and realised it was decent for me.

I got my second 365day plan from Kogan in March. No regrets.

        • +1

Similar to the other replies I said never again with Vodafone after a 2 year contract where I never once was able to get 4G no matter where I was.
I've now used Kogan for over a year and zero complaints. I initially had 5 GB a month, but they just keep upgrading their packages and I'm now on 7GB without doing a thing

        • @veriiT: Thanks for your reply. I last used Vodafone in 2015 and ported out after 1 month and copped a $20 port out fee from TPG while I was at it. I might give them another go….

        • I've had Kogan for just over a year now. At home and in most areas it's quite good and fast, however there are areas on the train line to and from work where the signal completely disconnects in a predictible way for 5-10 minutes. This includes areas in the city (Melbourne). I expect this is oversaturation of the network and I suspect it may get worse given the popularity of Kogan.

        • @fattypig: I would stop short of saying always. Their 2g network back in the days of the 3810 was the ducks nuts

    • No data rollover

    • Unused data doesn't roll over.

    • And that's a no to data roll over.

      (oops, too slow)

  • Thanks OP!

Just picked up a small one for 115.

I recently switched to Amaysim, 10 a month for unlimited calls / text and a gig each month. Used to just sit on the long life plans and use my phone mostly when I needed, but it's fun to be able to send they lyrics of Surrender to your friend at 2am as 20 different texts to (profanity) with them because you're an (profanity).

Anyway, this works out a bit cheaper than the next year would be with Amaysim, and I get some more interwebs.

  • +1

Damn, bought the 16GB one around 8 months ago for about $330… Great deal though! Thanks OP!

    • Yeah, I bought the 6GB one about six weeks ago for $224. This is a spectacular deal.

  • +2

I'm currently with Kogan and my 365 day package is ending in September. I know this deal can't be used to top up my existing package so can someone explain how I can continue to use Kogan? Dumb question I know.

    • +1

Buy it in September or next sale

    • +1

I'm on the same boat, my current Kogan plan expires in 2 months. I think you can just grab a cheap $2 Optus sim or something, port out to Optus and back to Kogan :)

      • +4

No need to port out, this is for new and existing Kogan Mobile customers

Valid for new and existing Kogan Mobile customers. Personal use only. • +3

Same, and I'm sure there's many others ending at the same time from last years deal.

I'm sure Kogan has it all worked out. Last year was the same, offered a cheap deal expiring a month and half before my current one ended.

Either buy this and apply at end of July, losing the last months of your current one, or wait and hope for another deal closer to date.

      • I'm sure Kogan has it all worked out.

Not really. These deals are always going.

I was able to continue mine seamlessly onto the second 365 day plan at a discount.

My family started on Kogan earlier than me, and they were able to continue as well.

    • +1

I'm in the same boat. Description on the ebay page says the current codes expire at the end of July so you can either recharge then and forfeit two months, get a higher end plan and ask Kogan to refund you the pro rata amount on your current plan (from what others have indicated, they won't do it if it's not an upgrade in plans), or you wait to see if there's another deal in the next two months.

Kogan really need to allow us to stack vouchers on the same plan up to 18 months.

    • I'm sort of in the same boat. Mine expires at the end of August. I figured it was better to sacrifice the month to get this lower price.
They usually have the "40% off" special but having another 20% off seems to be an infrequent occurrence.

    • +3

if you buy a plan that's bigger than your current and use it to recharge before your current plan expires, you should be able to get a refund/credit on your remaining months according to the FAQ

CAN I UPGRADE MY EXISTING PLAN BY BUYING A NEW VOUCHER CODE?
      Yes, absolutely!

You can upgrade your account by buying a Voucher code. Once your recharge is completed, kindly call 12612 (Monday to Sunday, 8am to 8pm AEST) and we will help > you with the refund for the remaining unused days on your account.

  • Just in time! My Kogan plan expires at the start of next month

  • wow perfect timing - can these be used as data sims in a mobile broadband USB device?

  • +2

It might be worth noting that if you are an existing customer and UPGRADING your plan they might be able to give you a pro-rated refund for any unused months of the lower plan. Midway through my wife's medium plan (purchased as a discounted voucher) we figured the data allowance is not enough, I rang them and they said that I can sign up for a new AND higher 365 day plan, pay that in full, then receive credit for the old one. This was all done over the phone and via credit card so not sure how it might work with vouchers. Store credit? Very happy with Kogan so far.

  • Is there a difference between 4G network and 4G+ network?

  • +1

Bugger me - just rolled over about a month ago.

  • +1

Just purchased one for my mum. Thanks OP

  • How difficult would it be to port from a Telstra number?

    • it all happened within a few hours for me

    • Hint: When I submitted the on-line form, my address wasn't found in their automated lookup. Despite living in the same address for 15+ years in the Sydney Suburbs. If I entered it manually could not be processed automatically. So I just chose a fake addresses, submitted the form. And then immediately logged into the portal, and changed to my real-address. And then the port processed within an hour.

Ported within an hour, and supposedly my account is password protected, which wasn't required to port.

I have my daughter on the, small, it's great. Unlimited calls and SMS within Australia. 3 GB of data, and resets monthly.
Coverage seems good, she has full bars at home, yet I only have 1 bar with Telstra.
      Absolutely no risk over overcharge!!!

Downside, no data rollover, but they give you heaps of data.

Personally, I use Telstra Pre-paid as historically their coverage has always been better and it's still free while I chew through my accumulated credits.
At the risk of being banned, I also use Apple Music Streaming (no data usage on Telstra). I do however purchase using iTunes cards purchased when on-sale, and then purchase 12 months at a time. I always let if expire for a few days, always seem to get 3 months free. This is just something to consider if your an Apple Music user.

  • might roll over the kids phone i just setup with the 99cent 23gb to get them through school holidays :)
Be nice to roll over data although cannot see him having any free end of a month :)

  • How long does it usually take to receive the voucher? I purchased one as soon as the deal went live but I haven't received anything yet. Just an eBay and Paypal payment confirmation email.

    • It shouldn't take too long I'd expect, maybe give it a bit of time considering its on eBay instead.

    • +2

I bought from Kogan eBay last week, got the voucher 90 minutes after purchase and SIM was sent a day later.

  • -7

Uses Vodafone network which is crap

    • I currently use Telstra, but when I use the Kogan Free / $4.90 SIM's sometimes, the service has been top notch.

  • Thanks OP, perfect timing, my plan ends 17/7 :), purchased the extra large plan upgrading from large plan

How long does it take for code to arrive? Also can these be used as data sims in USB modems?

  • Would this work with an iPad?

Are there iPad Data only plans that are cheaper?

    • If you were to buy this you'd be better off putting the sim in your phone & wifi hotspotting the ipad to it as there is unlimited calls & sms.

      • CBF hotspotting everytime I want to use the ipad.

Can the simcard be put into an ipad? It seems to be the cheapest data plan out there…..

  • If I am just recharging, do I need to insert the new sim card ?

    • +1

      No

  • brought one :)

    • +7

      Brought one where?

  • anybody getting an error when applying the the voucher?

We ran into a problem. Please try again later.

    • +1

Works fine here, are both your eBay and Paypal accounts registered with an Australian Address? Did you also move your account to the US for the recent 20% off deal at all?

      • +1

ahh good point… Need to change it back.
I checked out with a guest account for now

  • my Kogan plan is expired next month, can I buy this plan & recharge it? coz it says Voucher does not apply to subsequent recharges. thanks

    • Yeah use it when yours expires. It means you can't use the same voucher twice.

  • great deal, just my plan will expiry on 5Jul.

    • +1

so perfect timing? come 6th July just activate it then and you're all done

  • +1

Last year spent $19 for the year on unlimited with data ranging from 10~23GB (sim swaps)…is convince worth $200? Hmmm

    • +2

Yes. I used to swap monthly too. got onto a Kogan yearly plan and havent looked back. not only are you not sim swapping monthly, you dont have to worry about paying monthly bills. do it. you deserve it.

  • damn i got the large for 250 earlier this year, if they would stack id buy another but expires 31/07 unfortunately

    • I've read other people say that Kogan may refund the unused period, but it seems a little too good to be true. Might want to contact them to make sure.

      • only if upgrading.

  • I still have a couple of unused vouchers from other retailers, but am really tempted to buy a kogan one.

  • -1

    What network is this on?

    • +1

      I believe it's Vodafone.

      • Rats! Thanks for the response. Cheap nether the less!

  • Is there a way to purchase this as just a recharge, without having to have the new SIM sent out? I understand that the voucher code will be emailed and then the SIM posted. It just seems wasteful to be ordering new SIMs (will probably order 3 for the family) when they aren't needed (I already have Kogan SIMs).

    • I don't believe so, you could try and contact them via eBay to stop it, but they usually just send them out regardless from my experience.

      • +1

I figured as much, just thought I'd ask. I hate the waste!
Would be great to see a 'Need a SIM?' option at checkout. Surely this would save Kogan money too on SIMs and postage.

        • +1

          No they don't.
I have at least 6spare Kogan sims from purchasing large monthly data plans for1month only.
I guess they figure you may gift them to some one….

        • +1

Same. Last time I ordered a voucher from the Kogan site, I removed the SIM from my cart, they still sent it.

  • Oh well my two plans expiring in Sep :(

    • upgrade and you'll get the remaining months refunded/credited back into your account

      • As in upgrade to the next largest plan?

        • Any larger plan

      • Do you need to call and ask for refund or it's automatic?

        • +1

          Call

  • Oh man… I bought the Kogan XL 365 day plan for $315 two days ago from Kogan website.. haven't activated it. Any ideas if I can get that refunded in full or refunded the difference ? Currently it's $252 via dicksmith eBay

    • Same here I bought this morning literally ten minutes before the sale started !!!

    • +1

I got the 365 medium plan 2 weeks ago but haven't activated the code yet.

I rang the Kogan Mobile line this morning and tried to get the difference refunded to me. No luck but the person advised me to purchase the Ebay voucher, then send and email through the Contact us page on their website to request a full refund of the original purchase from 2 weeks ago.

Have done so.. waiting reply from Kogan to confirm….

      • Please let me know how that goes! I've sent an email to Kogan.. waiting for a reply….

        • Same here mate. Let us know if you get any positive response on the full refund.

        • +1

@Jsuvidh26: I called up Kogan mobile and pressed 3 to be transferred. They are aware of this dicksmith deal. They offered full refund to me. Should take about 7 days for it to appear in my bank account. Please note, my voucher has not been activated yet. Great!
