    One of the staff members told me yesterday that it’s not uncommon for freebies to be “out of stock” on the day of promotion. Apparently there is some issues between head office organising these promotions and franchisees having giving away the stock, waiting for reimbursement etc… not sure exactly sure of the problem she was trying to describe but something along those lines and animosity between them. She also said it’s common for the “scanners to be broken” or “voucher doesn’t scan” if someone happens to find the free item. This has never happened to me though, just relaying what she told me.

      Which store is this? I never had a problem claiming freebies at 711. The only thing I ever missed out on was the nutella pretzel dippy cup things(sold out). Got my Cherry Ripe today as well. No fuss.

      They can just type numbers in manually to apply voucher.
      My phone hit below 5% the other day, automatically dimmed screen, no way it would scan, so they typed numbers in. Try increasing screen brightness, also try scanner at different distances (it is usually not really close where it beeps/scans, it is usually about 20cm from phone).

    Is it just me or someone else also feel embarrassed to claim freebies on consecutive days without buying anything?

    I mean it's the same counter staff that serves you. And it's like you only show up at the store for the freebies and are never spending nothing for the rest of the time.

      I don't even feel embarrassed asking where the [insert free item] is and whether there's any in stock. Counter staff knows damn well I'll get the freebie but happy to help.
      Normally get a coffee or a Slurpee with it though (unless it's a drink like the Coke)

        I don't go to 7'11 fuel outlet. I got a 7-11 shop in the shopping plaza.
        If the guy working at counter is hired, then he probably d on not give a damn.
        But if it's the actual owner, likely to give me the 'you back biaaatch' look.
        Probably have to buy a donut to go with the freebie

      No guilt. I'm helping the marketing department hit their KPIs. Chances are they won't look at the data deeply enough to see they are being fleeced by some. 7-11 is getting exactly what they want, more traffic. I stopped at only 7-11 on my recent road trip when possible. Stopping first for fuel lock, then for January freebies. My loyalty is for sale and 7-11 pays the highest price.

        I tried this at a Melbourne CBD location and I was told that these offers are only valid at the fuel stations.

        ideally, as early as possible but he reckons as long as you come in before 6pm-ish you should be alright.

        ymmv, depending on how busy your local store is and how sought-after the freebie is.
