The Xiaomi bidet was my favourite purchase of 2018. Sitting on a warm toilet seat on a cold morning is bliss.

    • +10

Took me about a year to install it. After breaking my toilet lid off and finally attaching it in a house i half bought just for the toilet seat, it turned out the toilet i had was some kind of compact model, and the seat didn't come close to fitting.

So i went to bunnings to buy a new toilet, found the perfect caroma after a good amount of research. After finding it out of stock in a couple stores, i drove an hour to the bunnings that had 4 in stock. They had none in stock, just some mislabeled models.
So i bought a similar……….. other brand i can't remember right now, which seemed great - but ended up being made for an S type fitting, where i had a P - and the caroma was both, and i simply forgot at the time being annoyed at traveling around all day finding a toilet.
SO after installing and making my own parts to make it a P trap toilet, i finally was able to install my SmartMi seat.

I like it - but sadly the week before i was in china for a family visit of sorts, and i got to experience a Haier brand seat that ended up being quite a bit better than the Smartmi (better, smoother jet, with a better cleaning circle. Also a quick heating ceramic seat).
So all in all i'm happy, but i feel a little let down by the xiaomi quality wise compared to the Haier.

And that's how i met your mother.

      • And would a Haier one cost a similar amount?

        • I think I found it.
$1999 Yuan, or $415aud. Doesn't appear to be in special.

Didn't have a drying function. How much does this whale retail for?

      • +1

That was legen…… wait for it….. DARY! Legendary!

      • +1

What brand of toilet paper do you use?

        • +1

          That's a story too.
While typically happy with my quilton 3 ply, I was actually so impressed with the toilet paper I used in China with said Haier seat that I actually took some home.

I won't lie, I think it might made of cotton? It's so good.

          https://m.imgur.com/a/URaf2nM

Guess where I am right now?

  • EDIT:

Looks like all you need is electricity close enough?

    • wanna ask the same question toooo!

    • Yes.

    • +3

You will also need a fresh water tap. If your toilet works on recycled water for example, you will need to get creative.

      • Can you elaborate? How would you plumb it if your toilet/s are hooked up to a water tank / recycled water?

      • +1

        Sigh. Yes.
My toilet and vanity are on opposite sides. Wish I had put an extra tap and electricity plug close to toilet seat.

  • If your toilet is too small, just meet the minimum requirement for the seat, gentleman will suffer pain

    • Had this problem - I found the solution to this is to swear a lot and break the toilet, then buy a toilet you can proudly call your throne.

  • how many watts does it use when on standby please? I noticed it is a 1030W unit, when will it consume full wattage please? I don't want a power surge when using the hair dryer is used too in the toilet.

    • Less than 2W.

      • Is <2w to keep the seat warm?

        • +13

          2Watt is standby power consumption.

Contrary to your username the seat warming function can be scheduled to turn on and off at particular timings.

    • I like the luxury of these sorts of seats when I was in Japan, and heck now with air drying too?!
This is even better than moon pie. What a time to be alive!

But seriously I do wonder how much juice we'd be talking here. Both standby and how much extra power beforehand you'd end up using heating up the seat or maintaining the warm water temp, etc.

  • +24

Xiaomi… chill bro. You don’t have to make every product.

    • +2

Do they have an electric toothbrush?

      Oh wait…they do!

  • Does it need hot water inlet as well or does it have any inbuilt heater to warm the water ?

    • +4

The first Xiaomi toilet only needed one cold water inlet, heats up the water internally, I'd assume the same for this newer upgraded model.

    • +1

Do not need Hot water Inlet.

  • +2

If anyone has installed this where the water outlet is in the wall hidden by the cistern, please PM me! I do want to buy this bidet just can't figure out the installation in this scenario.

    https://imgur.com/Jb05bdE

    • +1

Yep, that's a tricky one. You might need to cut out another hole in the side of the cistern (above water level) to route water down the the bidet connection. You'd need to use a hole saw and/or drill suitable for ceramic.

      • Is drilling into ceramic a good idea? If at all, I won't be doing it and will need to get a pro.

    • +1

You can get it to work but you’ll need a y-splitter that fits in the space and you’ll probably need to cut a hole above the water line in your cistern to get the hose out.

      • Is the Y splitter the same as the included Tee-Connector(Australian standard)?

I'm thinking I could make do by having the hose come out of the lid, leaving a gap on the cistern lid. Ugly solution and not sure if it would cause problems with the flush.

    • +3

I have the same issue. But have a basin nearby, so I'm going to try @Ryanek idea in the above comment.

      • so do I but it's all inside a vanity so would also require drilling.

    • Hey
I have an idea. I have exactly the same cistern as yours.

Your inlet is built in from wall and inside cistern

Such cistern usually(should) have an additional water inlet towards the bottom of the cistern where traditional water supply is installed.

Maybe you can use "that hole" somehow to work your way around without cutting drilling a hole in your cistern.

Let me know if that's the case.

      • hey, do you mean the ones at the bottom (+ and another cap type), where can I get more info on them? Thanks for the idea
        https://imgur.com/a/RRNC3FS

        • +1

Sorry, I cant help you there.
But I am GUESSING it is that.
Maybe a plumber can share their thoughts.

If you can use that hole and as long as its water tight….I dont see any reason not to run a splitter inside cistern down that + hole and to your smart toilet

  • I am terrible with DIY, can anyone suggest a pro who can install this in Sydney?

    • +4

      airtasker

    • +2

It is quite an easy installation. The hardest part is to hook up the water outlet with tee but this version should be better because it it an australian standard.

    • +2

it is very easy to install. Took me 20 mins and I never done it before.

  • +6

    B28 and NFC ?

    • +1

Yeah, will be included in 2020 model, stay tuned.

      • +2

Yeah, but can it run Crysis?

        • that,my friend, is to hard to predict

    • -1

      SD 855?

  • How do you reach the buttons? this looks kind of dumb having them at the back of toilet, all the Japanese toilets I used in Japan had a control panel located either on the wall or in easy access on the side so you can play with all the functions…or does this expect people to use the app on their phone to access the function? has anyone used this one before?

    • I have this one. The buttons are tactile and different shapes to quickly realise what they do. You don’t need to look at the buttons.

If you wipe sitting down then reaching these buttons will not be a problem.

      • How confusing might it be for guests?

        • +20

          You'll know by the screams.

        • +1

exactly my point! seems like it may be a design flaw in my eyes but may end up being a blessing as they arnt as protruding as others and guests may not even know they are on a special toilet

    • +1

You don't know how to use the 3 seashells?

    • +2

i can guarantee you that your ass isnt clean just using toilet paper. This actually washes your bum. You dont just wipe your armpits with paper towel and say its clean do you?

    • +1

Have you ever been to Japan?

      • I have. I love using it while I was in Japan. The problem is, after numerous of wash spray wash spray…..

When i wipe it with toilet paper, i can still see shit on the paper….not in bulk, but just like Wee colour….coz of the water…
        Is this normal?

Thought the paper should be crystal clear and clean

        • +3

you need to eat more fiber

  • OP, I'm tempted to take the plunge but what is your return policy just in case my installation doesn't go to plan.

    • +3

      Take the plunge

      You're doing it wrong.

  • +1

If I had a whale that I pooped on and expected him to flush my bum, that would be a very angry whale

  • +3

    Its the Pro version?!?

Do people get paid to go and take a dump??

    Such a pointless term.

    • +3

Do people get paid to go and take a dump??

If you take a dump during work hours. Then you can say that you are getting paid while taking a dump.

    • If you work from home then maybe

  • Hi OP. Off-topic, but any update on the Xiaomi Dreame carpet head?

  • +2

I wonder how easy it is to clean the seat itself? It’s not uncommon for someone to poop violently and the sh*t will hit the back of the toilet (as can be seen in any public toilet). Normally you can just spray or wipe off the inner side of the back, but with the this smart toilet seat the inner is where the hoses coming out isn’t it? I imagine it will be tricky if not messy to clean up the thing in this case, and may even dangerous, e.g. electric shock etc. if you are not supposed to spray or pour water to that area.

  • +2

" massage flushing" not going to lie … giggity

  • Hey Gearbite. Is the drier for dying the bowl or your bottom?

    • bottom

    • Not sure why anyone would want to dye the bowl - or one's bottom, come to think of it.

      • Heard story of dying bum before

  • Gives the old prostate a tickle

  • What is the length of the power cord?
    NVM, it's approx. 1.5M

  • Can anyone suggest a reasonable (but not too expensive) toilet that will fit this seat?

I bought it, but my toilet is slightly too small for it, so want to replace it.

  • Any deals on the Version 1? I think I like the look of it more and as it has the buttons on the side a little easier to use. Only function that it doesn have is the blow dry function which I dont believe is that important

    • Would also like the version 1 for the side panel buttons. Cheapest it got down to was 209 - regret not grabbing it then :(

  • +1

BTW, you can use Coupon Code : PLUNGE to get 15% off (more than the 10% in the original post) finalizing @ $368

    • Picked one up for my bathroom that's about to be renovated. I like how it doesn't have a side unit for the buttons so that it doesn't take up extra room as my en-suite bathroom isn't that big and this design definitely helps.

  • Too bad, I just bought it in the morning on eBay. Is it possible to cancel it and redo it by using the new code? Can you help me?

    • +1

Please let me know your ebay id by PM. I will follow up for you.

      • sorry, my account is just registered and could not PM you within 24 hours. Could you please reply me on eBay? Cause I just send you a message on eBay. Thank you

        • +1

          Sure.

  • Hi.

Do you know how the water pressure compares to the Smartmi?
I'd prefer a fair bit stronger than my existing Smartmi, so if this is an upgrade then I'll definitely be buying this!
    Australian cert is good too!

Also, I assume this will fit the same bowl as the Smartmi?

    Cheers,

    Mike

    • Massage function would much stronger than Smartmi.

  • What exactly is whale spout??? You mean it sprays water like a whale, full blast and full coverage of your bum?

  • I've bought one with the PLUNGE code. If I can install this well, I'll need another one so hoping there is another good deal soon!

  • +1

Can anyone share what type of backflow preventer they have used in this installation?

  • Hi OP, which courier do you use. Can I use auspost parcel locker as delivery address.?

    • We use Auspost for this product, Parcel loacker address would be fine.

      • Thanks. Order placed

  • +3

    Hi rep,

I notice the smart toilet sold in Bunnings includes an AS/NZS 2845.1 compliant dual check valve (aka backflow prevention) in their package while your Xiaomi package doesn't. I believe one need to install a backflow device to be fully compliant with Australian standard.

Could you please confirm if this is the case, and if so, should we buy an extra dual check valve and install it with the Xiaomi smart toilet to be safe?

    • In the instructions linked above it has a compliant check valve included with that aus standard number.

      • But if you look at the items included in the package it doesn’t mention anything about any check valve at all.

Smart Toilet seat Assembly with AU PLUG, Inlet Water Hose with a Fasting Nut(Australian standard), Tee-Connector(Australian standard), Plastic Screw Anchors, Screws, Installing Caliper(English), Mounting Plate, Securing Brackets, Water filter, Locking Fastener and English Instruction Manual.

I notice the backflow question has been raised a few times in the previous posts but none of them was addressed by the rep. So I just wish it can be at least addressed this time.

Personally I think this is a great product at a good price, but I also think it would be misleading to advertise the item as having “Australian certifications” without one of the most important and may be legally required part like the backflow valve.

        • What's the deal with these backflow valves anyway? Aren't they installed at the meter with modern homes?

  • +1

Just received mine today, looks like a high-quality piece of kit, quite impressed with it actually.

I don't have a power point next to the toilet (yet), so won't install until I get it done, but initial impressions from face value are impressive.

It appears to come with a back-flow prevention device. It looks identical to this one: https://www.bunnings.com.au/kinetic-chrome-backflow-prevente…
Brand is the same as well as the etchings on the side (max 60 degree, 1200psi)

    • It’s good to know. Does the included backflow prevention device have a watermark symbol on it?
