Guys, if you don't get the $100 credit upon depositing the third $2000.
Instead of depositing a fourth $2000, as suggested earlier.
Try just sending $1. It should work (I think).

  • only made 3 deposits, $100 came through about 3 weeks later. be patient guys!

  • i just sent the 4th $2000 payment (so 2 x $2000) for this month, and i went into today to see they've given me $150!!

    anyone else get this?

    • I got $150 too

    • Yep I got it too, mfi bonus $150

      • Did you deposit 4 times?

        • Nope only 3 x $2000

    • Yes i got it.

    • Was your 4th deposit on the 1st of the month? I want $150 also! lol

  • why some are 150 and other 100?
    2 different promotion?

    • maybe just got lucky?
i didn't do anything different to anyone else

  • sent mail to cancel card two weeks ago and account is still active…

  • I didn't get the $100 after i put in the 3rd $2000 , asked in chat and he said wait till the end of month. Withdrew $2000 and then replaced it 2 days ago and found $150 in my acc today .

  • How are people getting the bonus immediately?

    Here is my history:

    1. 1st $2000 deposit - 19/8
    2. 2nd $2000 deposit - 2/9
    3. 3rd $2000 deposit - 1/10

Waited all month and still nothing - then I read that others have got it after doing a 4th deposit.

    So I deposited a 4th $2000 today - still nothing.

    So I called them up.

    What they told me was:

    • Have to wait until the end of the month of the 3rd deposit
    • Then have to wait within 10 days AFTER the end of the month of the 3rd deposit

So since my 3rd deposit was on 1/10 - I have to wait til 31/10 - then the bonus will be within 1-10th of November.

    • Thanks for sharing. My 3rd deposit will be this month, started in September. I will do it when I need to PayWave on sale giftcards in Woolies.

I think it is better not deposit on the 1st day of a month as HSBC may use a different time zone internally, or not yet adjusted to react to the deposit.

  • It is very interesting indeed. I opened my account and my wife's at the same time, deposit at the same date, withdraw at the same date. The only difference is that only I used it for tapping to get the 2% cashback and she never used the card. The 3rd deposit done on 16/10 and on the same day she received the $100 credit "MFI Bonus". What ????

    • How much later did your $100 come in?

  • Deposited my third $100 today and as soon as it cleared the $100 bonus appeared. Pretty happy with that for efficiency and I’ll continue to use the account for the cashback.

    • What do you mean by "third" $100?

      • Whoops!

That should read, deposited my third $2000 for the $100 bonus to come through immediately.

        • Thats cool, just got it too.. some got $150 :(

  • out of my 4 accounts
2 got the $100 upon transfer
the other 2 did not get the $100, still waiting :( been 10 days, tried transferring the 2k back and forth but no luck

    • 4 Accounts under your name ?

  • Couldn't register online banking by myself online but phone help was quite useful and nice.

  • So I did my 3rd transfer on 3rd Dec and haven't yet received anything. I called helpline and they told me to wait till end of month. Not wanting to give up so easily, I tried live chat and they told me they have escalated (but couldn't provide any proof) to the rewards team and my bonus should be in next week.

I don't know which is more awful, their inconsistent customer service or their broken IT systems..

  • I tried transferring $$ from my Westpac account to the HSBC account, and Westpac doesnt recognise the HSBC BSB. After calling the call center(1 hour +), they said they have no way of adding a new BSB (342098), and I just have to wait however long it takes for them to update. I asked them to escalate from the call center level and they said there was no way to do that, anyone else have this issue?

My bsb is 342097 and no problem transferring. Are you sure the bsb is correct?

I started going through the application process but the amount of clearly unnecessary personal information has really put me off.

Why does an application for a transaction account have questions around income, employment and employer/business address and all are mandatory?

This has put me off as I personally value access to such information at more than a $100.

WTF HSBC, I'm not applying for any loan for God sake!

Curious to hear whether I the only here that was put off by the amount of personal information they require.

    • Unless they are doing a credit check I think it is ok to provide this info. We are not certain why this info is asked however. Is it to do with prior indiscretions? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HSBC#Controversies

I was put off so lied. Whats the worst they could do, close the account which most sane people wont use anyway? I only use it for the 2% cashback soley

  • Their app and website I still dont understand how it can possible be so difficult and slow. I dont think ive ever used such a bad app, or website that literally takes 5 minutes to login to check balance! I wonder if they are working on improvements. The 2% cashback is nice but otherwise it couldnt be any worse!

  • I do not receive the $100 bonus, but I have the day-to-day account with HSBC.

Someone mentioned before that they receive the bonus even though they are existing HSBC customer.

    Please give me some insight.

    • You can be an existing customer - but I believe you must be opening this account (if the account is already opened from a while back, that does not count). Then, you have to deposit $2,000 or more each month for 3 consecutive months, within 6 months of opening your Everyday Global Account. Hope this helps.

      • Yes, I did all of these and I don't have the Everyday Global Account before.

I guess I do not fulfil this requirement "The AUD100 bonus paid in AUD to new HSBC customers (Not held an account in last 6 months)".

        • I see - this makes sense.

  • Tried to cancel via fax, got the letter responded that as I was signed up digitally and no signature being stored in the file, I have to either ring or go to their branch. Really ? Other banks can close the account online. Oh well, I will leave the account until it is closed as dormant in the future.

  • Any way to get $2000 into this HSBC bank account on a Saturday or Sunday if they don't support NPP/PayID? Would BeamIt work?

    • +1

Beem it will work, but the daily limit is $1k. However, you must have at least 1 cent (cant be zero balance) available on the HSBC account for it to work. Otherwise, Beem it may fail.

  • Does anyone know to qualify for 2% cashback on tap and pay purchases if you have to put 2k in a month? Or is that only for the $100 bonus to new customers that deposit 2k a month x3 months (in first 6 months).

As there website is not clear as it says deposit 2k a month to qualify for everyday extra rewards (the list 2% cashback on tap and pay purchases under $100).

There online banking in not great at all but there app takes the cake for worst banking app going!

  • I've been with a lot of banks but this is the worst.

The signup process was a pain.

The app is from the stone ages. Takes ages to refresh/load. So cluttered.

They complicate things for no reason. What is this Digital Security Key business? Why can't I activate my card from the app or set the PIN?

You have to call them to activate Apple Pay, really? The first bank I have come across that makes you do this.

They advertise 24 hour phone support. I called them at 11.30 pm to activate Apple Pay, and was placed on hold for more than 30 minutes.

    No PayID/NPP.

    • Today they're sending me SMS messages that my debit card will be in the mail and I should receive it soon.

This is despite the fact I received it days ago, activated it, enabled Apple Pay, transferred money into the account and set a PIN on the card.

Just opened new account, transferred $2000 and received my card. Paywaved $5 coffee + cupcake and received my $0.10 cashback instantaneously .
Btw they have a new App: HSBC Australia, that is much more intuitive than the old and tired-looking app.
Nice thing is they have the "Everyday Extras" option that you can keep track how much to deposit until you've until it is unlocked and how much cash back you received.

  • just finished it then.

the $100 came through exactly the same time as the 3rd deposit.
